Great little spot. Super friendly family owned place. Everything was delicious. The fish soup was a little too fishy for my taste, but that's how it's made. Plenty of other soups to try next time. The minced pork was delicious as well as the fried chicken pieces and roti with chicken curry. All spot on yummy. Pulau Ka-pow! In

Palau Pinang has been around for decades but I never ventured to try this Malaysian restaurant as my first choice is usually Taste Good while in Elmhurst. Curiously, we decided to give it a try since we found a spot in the parking lot. We ordered salt and pepper squid which was perfectly crispy. The entrees we tried were Hainese chicken rice and Beef Rendang with rice. They were humble options that packed a great flavor punch. The beef was stewed until tender and my chicken was nice and juicy. Portion wise, I think Taste Good is still better but the flavors were very complimentary here and the interior seems more modernized. They have an expanded menu so I'd like to try their Taiwanese offerings in the future.

Been coming here since I was a kid. Never had a bad meal here. Gets busy if you come late lunch but service manages to keep up. Food has always been great here. The roti and curry is our go-to app and we always get the hainanese chicken. Their Malaysian food is very good and one of the reasons we always go back. The parking lot is always full so I would not even attempt to try to go in because it's crazy trying to leave. It's a shared lot with multiple other restaurants and a grocery store.

This is my second time here. I'm from Malaysia and this is always a great way to curb my cravings for home food. Some of the dishes lean salty but overall taste very good. The service is so friendly and attentive. There's plenty of seating and usually not a long wait. It can be a little noisy but not too bad. I'm sure I'll be back!

Overall great restaurant and didn't get too busy while we were there for Saturday lunch. My friend who is from Malaysia really likes this restaurant. The beef chow fun was on point. It had soft, smooth, slippery rice noodles that were perfect. The wok hei was on fire. The tot devoured this dish. I really liked the sarang burong. The taro was shell was very crisp and thick. It had a good amount of taro filling. The chicken was very soft and shrimp was fresh. It was a tad sour, but I am not sure if that was part of the flavor profile. The roti canai - the crepe was large (unlike other places where you barely get anything). The curry was not the best I have had. It tasted a little watered down to me, but it was decent. The House Special Seafood tofu dish was quite good. The tofu was very soft and fresh. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and the shrimp was also fresh. The salt and pepper pork chop was a miss. The char kweoy teo was quite good. I would get this again. Would definitely return!

4.5 Stars, rounding up to 5 Stars! What a nice surprise! I was hesitant to try this restaurant since it had mixed reviews. But I'm so glad we gave it a try! I had lowered my expectations for this restaurant, given the mixed reviews, but everything we ordered was fantastic! We ordered both Malaysian dishes and Taiwanese dishes, and they all exceeded our expectations! Also, prices are very reasonable; but with a surcharge if paying by credit card. These are the 10 dishes we tried: ~ Stinky Tofu ($12): the tofu was minimally stinky and could have been stinkier (lol) but I actually like it this way. Flavors weren't overpowering. ~ Clams w.Basil ($21): this was a basic dish and was good. ~ Fried Oysters $19): the oysters came with a side of oyster sauce but honestly, you don't need it. Sprinkle a little salt, and they're delish! ~ 3 Cup Chicken ($19): this dish came out Smokin'!! Be carefully not to touch the plate cause you'll get burned! This may be the best 3 Cup Chicken I've ever had! ~ Fly Heads ($18): someone once asked me if this dish was really made of fly heads....of course, this person was lo fan! Hahaha This dish never disappoints. Ask for it extra spicy! Sooooo good! ~ Belacan Special (Veg w.spicy shrimp paste) ($19): Veggies never tasted so good! Very flavorful! ~ Lamb Rendang ($22): I've only ever had Beef Rendang, so was looking forward to try this lamb version. It was delicious! The meat was very tender and tasty. ~ Curry Beef Stew ($22): the curry flavors were too mild for me, and I wish it had more of a curry flavor but this dish was good nonetheless. Another tasty dish! ~ Shredded Beef w.Scallions ($18): the shredded beef was perfections. Good dish! ~ Mee Goreng Noodles ($12): omg this noodle dish was fantastic! Noodles were perfectly al dente, and sooooo flavorful! ~ White Rice ($2/bowl): note that none of the entrees come with rice, so you must order separately. Note that this restaurant has square tables, as well as round tables for larger groups. ***One strike against them is that they do NOT have Lazy Susans for the round tables. Lazy Susans are a MUST for round tables; making it easier for family style shared meals. There are about 3 round tables, which seats up to 9 adults comfortably (10 if you're all on the thin side. lol). They will tell you that this table seats 12, but honestly, you can only seat 12 people if you have kids and/or thin people. (My party of 10 adults sat elbow to elbow). Free parking in the lot in front of the restaurant. This is a shared lot with the other businesses in the strip mall; including a supermarket. Parking can be challenging on a busy day. Customer service was very welcoming, friendly and efficient. On this Wednesday evening, this place was packed! Very popular restaurant! I can't wait to come back to try their other dishes!

Was in the area and decided to come here for some Malaysian food to bring home. Service was friendly and my order was ready as promised. Got the crispy squid, salt & pepper pork chops, Hainanese chicken over rice and roti canai. Fyi, there's an additional 3.5% surcharge if you pay with a credit card. I had high hopes but unfortunately, everything only tasted fairly mediocre. The chicken was dry, rice had too much ginger with barely any chicken flavor, the curry was very thick & sweet, roti was not crispy, the squid was bland and pork chops tasted weird & also sweet. Even my kids didn't like the food :(

Returned recently for take-out, and dined-in a few days ago. Good portions, for the low prices, in their lunch options (came with soup), and over-rice dishes. We liked the Beef rendang, Nasi lemak (with chicken rendang, wished there were more anchovies), Salted fish/chicken fried rice. Pinang Udang Mee has spicy, light, shrimp-y broth, al dente noodles, shrimp, fish cakes and other toppings. All flavorful dishes without being too salty. Wasn't into the marinade and texture of the fried pork chop. Hainanese chicken was not as tasty as Batik's for me. Since 2 years ago, noticed the decor has changed. On a cool rainy day, it was kind of cold inside (good thing we ordered soup :) ).

Service was good. They are very attentive; my cup is always filled to the brim with water. Food is good. Love the water spinach! Pork chop tasted too much of ketchup. A few items on menu was fair price, others were really expensive! Homemade Roti Canai was REALLY good! 3.5% extra if use Credit Card

We came here on a blistering cold day and was welcomed by a very cheery staff all decked in holiday cheer. Special shoutout to PM whose smile and joyful spirit warmed our souls. The food was spectacular and just what our whole family needed. From the roti to the noodles to the soup to all of the sizzling meat available, couldn't have been happier. Definitely a sweet spot for a lowkey family gathering. Saw a few couples, a few young family, and a few extended family gathering here. Believe they just hit a decade (?) on Boxing Day. We wish them many many successful years ahead!

after having been to taste good (my fav malay place in the city), I had to see how this place compared! I think each has their own strengths dishes I liked here: satay, hainese chicken, clay pot pork belly, pearl noodles dishes i'd pass on next time: beef rendang (beef not tender), roti (not flaky enough) , clams (very fishy and sandy :(((( ) super yummy and a good price for how much food you can get! def coming back and highly recommend!! call ahead to make a reservation for peace of mind.

How's the parking around 3 pm on a Thursday?

There is a free parking lot and you shouldn't have a problem finding a spot in there at that time.

I called like 25 mins ago and the recorder said they’re having gas ssue. So when is the place opening up? I am sure they want to serve their regular customers already.

They are back in business after a brief hiatus! They re-opened last Wednesday 8/7/19

They are temporarily closed. Anyone have any idea when it should open back up?

No wonder they never pick up...

Beef chow fun was ok. Big plus: they're open late until 11 pm, which is always appreciated. They have a solid list of over-rice combos, all reasonably priced around $11-$12, with generous portions. I ordered the beef with bitter melon over rice, and this alone guarantees I'll be back. It's the first time I've seen this combo offered anywhere, and it was surprisingly delicious, even with the natural bitterness of the bitter melon. My husband ordered the beef with bamboo shoots over rice, and that was tasty as well. Everything came out flavorful and satisfying. Service was another highlight -- the wait staff was quick to refill our hot tea, and the place was clean and well-kept, even though we came close to closing time. Also glad to see that they accept cards though there is a $20 minimum. We also ordered the stinky tofu. While I wasn't used to the sauce they used (it had soy sauce and capers, which was a bit different from what I'm accustomed to), it didn't take away from how yummy the tofu itself was. Overall, this was a great late-night find, and I'll definitely be coming back to try more items on their menu. Glad we finally stopped in!

The food is on the affordable end, so the ramen and sushi are about what you'd expect for the price--decent and satisfying, but not gourmet. They have a "Ramen Lovers" special on Tuesdays where all ramen is 50% off, so we tried both the tonkatsu and beef ramen. The broths tasted pretty similar (LOL), just with different toppings. The noodles were interesting--they used a thin rice noodle, more like what you'd find in stir-fried dishes than in typical ramen--but again, at half off, I couldn't complain. I only paid about $15 + tax for two full-sized ramen bowls, which is a steal. On regular days, you get a free medium drink when you order ramen at the regular price--a great deal, especially for students or anyone on a budget. Their large boba drinks come in a bucket-sized cup and are huge! Taste-wise, the milk teas are pretty standard and similar to other boba spots, but that giant container makes it stand out. Of course, we expect the school to choose only the highest quality restaurants to order delivery from, and yes, it was quite good, considering that it was delivery that was lugged all the way from Flushing and ultimately had to be reheated in the microwave. Come this past weekend, we decided to plan a whole day trip to Flushing to visit Flushing Meadows Corona Park and eat some good Taiwanese and Chinese food. We search Yelp and we come across this place, OK Ryan. The restaurant is small and cozy, but packed a big bite. We had Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup, Pork Chop lunchbox, Oyster Pancake, Pork Intestine Vermicelli, Taiwanese Sausage, and Golden Red Bean Pancake. Everything authentic and delicious. Oyster Pancake was probably the best I've had for a very long time - it was filled with oysters, not too doughy, not too saucy. Beef noodle soup had excellent depth of flavor and the meat was tender and delicious. We ordered way too much food and took a bunch of it home. Found out that the restaurant was cash or Venmo only. So I take out my phone and Venmo the bill. But wait, my Venmo app did not register OK Ryan as a new restaurant. In fact, it said I had paid this restaurant several... times.... before. Cue the freak out. Who hacked my Venmo account to buy Taiwanese food?? OK, so obviously, OK Ryan and OK Canaan are one and the same. Good for delivery, but now we know, much better in person. I think the braised pork was okay as there wasn't a lot of meat and it was a bit heavy on the fat. - Taiwanese Chicken Cutlet - I was a bit confused on first look of this chicken because they had some rick crackers stuck to the outside of it. I'm not sure if that's the way it's supposed to be but at least the flavors were spot on as it was ultimately crispy on the outside with a bit of spice and juicy on the inside. Probably the best dish of the night. - Pork Intestine Vermicelli - I've never had this dish before in the states so I was interested to see how this would turn out and it was actually a lot better than I thought. The flavors were pretty on point and the cleaned out the intestine well. I probably wouldn't order the lunchbox again, and although no dish extremely WOW-ed me, their breadth of Taiwanese dishes is pretty amazing and I will be back!

As stated before, I finally came back to try the savory foods from Tea Cup Cafe!…read more Starting off, my fiancé ordered the Crispy Fish. The sauce that was served was absolutely delicious with the signature tanginess and sweetness of Thai food. The hot pot that I ordered was also enjoyed to the fullest! The food here was super good but also I love liver so I was glad they had a hot pot option that included that! After a delicious meal, we finished off with the mango bingsu which also was a huge hit! The bingsu was super fluffy and light! This meal was definitely worth it and didn't leave me feeling super heavy. The service was also great even though they were always full house with some parties waiting and only one person serving. I will be back next time to try their Thai barbecue which I saw people having and I could stop looking at! On top of all this, the server or manager even gave me a free Melona ice cream which I paired with the bingsoo after he saw that I was pregnant which I thought was super sweet. I don't live too far from here so I also want to add that even though I have not added a review, I always go to this restaurant to grab a coconut Thai milk tea to go (I am not even a huge Thai tea fan)! For some reason, I love the coconut thai tea from here and always find myself craving it.
