A self service store. Super authentic Malaysian restaurant, we ordered five dishes and it was only $60. The food came out fast and the workers were really friendly. I definitely recommend the shredded chicken w hor fun, so delicious and flavorful and it comes with shrimp too. The curry mixed vegetable was so fresh and had the perfect amount of spice. They provide iced and hot water, toothpicks, everything. It's definitely a hidden gem and deserves sooo much more recognition

Amazing may be a stretch for authentic Malaysian taste. The people here are friendly and wonderful but the home taste of the curries and spices to give you that taste is too thin I ordered only 3 items from the menu. The nasi lemak with curry chicken, vegetable stuffed tofu and hokkien mee. Visually, the food looks Amazing, that's where naming the restaurant "Amazing" part comes in, beautiful to look at but lacks an important quality, taste. The taste falls a little short. The curry for starters was too thin and watered down which lost it's curry flavor profile. The nasi lemak sambal was a disappointment and the curry chicken was dry and bland. The best dish was the hokkien mee, but the sauce could have been more sweeter and savory. They open at 10am daily and have limited indoor seating. They briefly stated that they were considering opening earlier to serve breakfast. The folks here are wonderful and I need to give them another try. The chef and owner is called "Fat Mamma" Since they recently opened they need a couple of tweaks to up their game. There are two other nearby Malaysian restaurants within a 2 mile radius of each other. The competition is real and they need to improve the quality and caliber of their food to "Keep up with the joneses" Being mediocre won't cut it.

Stopped by earlier today for a quick bite. You have to walk in and seat yourself. There are menus on the table. When you are ready to order, you go towards the cash register. We ordered the roti canai and curry fish ball for appetizer. The roti canai curry was amazing! The roti was one of those that you can find the freezer aisle in the supermarket, nothing special. But the curry dip was so delicious. Spicy! It came with one piece of potato and one piece of chicken. Worth it just for the curry sauce. The curry fish ball with pork skin was also good. But the curry was very light, not as flavorful. The pork skin was delicious with the rice noodle because it held on to as much sauce as it can. For the entree, we ordered nasi lemak and beef rendeng, dry curry noodle, and hainese chicken. They give you a good portion for the hainese chicken but it lacked in flavor. The dry curry noodle was just alright. The beef rendeng doesn't have any coconut flavor, more like stewed beef.

Small mom and pop restaurant. Love supporting small businesses especially they are worth checking out. The food was delish. Wish they would offer shaved ice in the summer (hint hint). Ordered the noodles nasi lmamk. Portion was ok. Taste was delish. Please go easy on the ice next time on the drinks because I think I only had half a cup worth while the ice was packed to the top. Looks like the place went thru some rearrangement as it can now only sit 3 small tables of 3 or 4 ppl each. Small shop but good place for your Malay urge in the area.

    Chicken rice

10 Jan 2025: 1) Hainanese chicken rice. 2) wet egg seafood Hor fun 3) char kway teow. The red chili and ginger sauce that came with the chicken rice is good. Prices are really reasonable

Ordered lunch from them ,liked the Hainanese chicken with chicken stock rice, stir fried flat noodle, and pan fried dumpling. Had their beef rendang on rice, meat was little tough to chew but it taste great. Curry pig skin and fish ball was good too, (source not too spicy). Good portion with reasonably priced. I ordered 6 items and it only came out around $65. Food came out quick and cashier was polite. I will definitely come back for other dishes.

Malaysian mei fun. Salt pepper fish

Mom and pop shop store, good for local hangout. Over all the food is decently priced, I got a lot for what I paid. The restaurant has a lot of Malaysian offerings and has their own drink bars for bubble teas, fruity sodas. It is not tiger sugar but has the perfect flavor for those that does not like sweets. I got salt pepper fish and Malaysian fried mei fun. The salt and pepper fish is delicious, and come with a large bowl of rice that I cannot finish. They accept credit card and cash.

Hainanese Chicken Rice - $12 from Amazing Asia - New Malaysian Restaurant located 44-05 Kissena Blvd . When it comes to Malaysian food, Hainanese chicken is one of the most popular dishes, and that is why I got it. Yes, they are also known for their Char Kway Teow, Mee Goreng, Beef Rendang , Nasi Lemak and Curry Chicken, just to name a few... . I was lucky to get all dark meat, the wing and the leg. It was very moist/juicy. It was also very tender. It's usually boneless right? I haven't had Malaysian hainanese chicken in awhile, ever since Curry Leaves closed. I've had different variations, Thai and Singapore versions... . Anyways, it was very good. Great chicken flavor and the chicken oil rice was very fragrant. It doesn't feel a bit greasy from the fat, but that's how I like it sometimes. Sometimes it can be too greasy but since the chicken itself wasn't all that greasy, it really paired well with the greasy rice. And that sweet soy sauce with the chicken and rice. It also a pretty decent portion. I mean, you can barely see the rice on the bottom.. . It is not a huge restaurant, but it does feel rather cozy inside. . Aside from their menu items, they do also offer 3 dishes bento for $10 - located next to the register. It changes daily and you can follow them on WeChat for upcoming menu items or you can call them the day off to see what they have.. . I think they are a husband and wife running the place... but don't quote me on that. They are very friendly and spoke canto fluently... . . I also tried their rice noodle roll - $5. Similar to your canto rice noodles except they add fried shallots and more of a sweeter sauce. Also very good... .

It felt like a kind of seat yourself at whatever table is empty given that the waitress (who was manning the register and taking dine in and phone orders) was quite busy. We ordered the chicken satay, chow kueh teow kway teoh and fried pearl noodles. For dine in, they also gave a kettle of tea and tea cups. There was a chef in charge of all the grilled dishes by the entrance so our chicken satay came out first. The seasoning they used on it had just the right amount of curry flavor and it was super tender too. The most tender chicken skewer I've ever had. It came with a side of peanut dipping sauce which added a nutty flavor to the chicken satay. Next came the chow keuh teow dish and we could smell the wok hei right away. This was definitely one of the favorites of the table and a must try! The star of the dish was actually the smoky wok hei flavor of the rice noodles (there were pieces of small shrimp, chicken and pork as well). The portion size of one dish is more than enough for 2 people to share. The last dish to come out were the fried pearl river noodles. They added some char siu to the noodles which added a nice flavor to the dish. It didn't have quite as strong of a wok hei flavor as the other dish but still pretty good! The pearl river noodles had the same texture as eating the tapioca balls in bubble tea. The space inside the restaurant is pretty small and any seat is fine (maybe except the one right by the door since it can get cold during winter time and the one by the register which is also next to the bathroom). I think they accept card but for these types of small mom and pop shops, it might be best to pay in cash. I'll definitely be back and have to give the bbq skate fish and one of their curry dishes a try next time!

I should've known how this meal was going to go the second I walked in…read more Before I could even say hello, the woman behind the counter hit me with, "Cash only!" I said I didn't have cash, and without missing a beat she grunted, "Credit over $30 only!" No "welcome," no "how are you," just straight into survival mode. My colleague ordered first. When it was my turn, I committed the unforgivable crime of asking, "Is there meat in this dish?" Apparently that's considered a high-maintenance request. She rolled her eyes, muttered something in Cantonese, and walked away. The customer behind me, who was picking up her order, quietly told me the employee had just said she "doesn't have time to serve people who don't know what they want." My apologies for not memorizing the menu before my first visit. Five minutes later, another woman came over and took my incredibly difficult order... noodles. Then I entered what felt like the DMV of noodle shops. About 15 minutes later my colleague got her food. Another 15 minutes passed. A family of three walked in after us, sat down, and started getting their meals while I was still waiting for my noodles. At this point I was emotionally invested in seeing how long this social experiment would last. When we asked where my food was, the original woman simply said, "SOON!." Apparently "soon" means 72 minutes here. I placed my order at 1:08 p.m. and didn't get my food until 2:20 p.m. I'm convinced my ticket took a gap year before making its way to the kitchen. If they forgot my order, that's annoying but understandable. What isn't understandable is pretending everything is fine, offering zero explanation, zero apology, and acting like waiting over an hour for noodles is perfectly normal. The biggest plot twist? The food wasn't even worth it. Bland, lacking flavor, and somehow managed to make a 72-minute wait feel even more disappointing. The service had more attitude than seasoning. Save yourself the time and eat literally anywhere else.

It is just off of the PopMart vending machine and is operated by a nice woman (#1) practically every day of the week. The name is based on Malaysian kuih, which are bite sized sweet treats. The bahulu is their version of an egg sponge cake. The kuih is sold in box sets, which are about $12 each, along with other snacks from cookies to jelly to other cakes. Their pandan treats are popular and a sucker for bunga telang, otherwise known as the butterfly pea flower, and is visually as stunning as it is tasty. Beyond the box sets, there are also imported packages such as durian ice cream, fruit jelly, pineapple cakes, Belgian butter cookies, Japanese style honeycomb crackers, nyonya kuih, nuts of all kinds, and frozen durian musang. I'm still puzzled why shrimp crackers are $18 a can or why Haagen Daaz is forever popular amongst the Chinese community. A full breakdown of their fresh offerings are on a standup sign that offers pictures and descriptions. The woman operating the kiosk is very kind and will offer small samples if asked. She has only spoken to me in Mandarin, but if she's truly Malaysian than I would venture Malay Bahasa and English should be no problem. Roti itself is not as flaky and is a little thicker in some parts, but still pretty good. Would order again still. SATAY 5/5: The chicken has a really good char and brightness from the lemongrass. Peanut sauce's sweetness completes this. AYAM RENDANG 4/5 : The chicken falls off the bone. The red curry goes great with a bowl of white rice. It is more of a dry curry than a creamy curry compared to other Malaysian restaurants. BUDDHIST YAM POT 4.5/5 : A lightly fried bowl-shaped taro with some well seasoned and lightly sauced chicken, shrimp, cashes, and veggies inside. Some other restaurants go heavy on the fried exterior, but not this one. Texturally a really nice contrast between firm carrots, soft taro, and shattering of the cellophane noodles and fried webbing around the bowl. The service was pretty friendly and was quick in bringing out dishes and refilling water. As said in the note, I heavily preferred the Taiwanese dishes. First to arrive was the Baby Oyster Omelet/Oyster Pancake/蚵仔煎 for $11.95. It was mildly sweet from the sauce, and otherwise, there was a good amount of greens and a pretty good amount of oysters inside. Compared to Taiwanese Gourmet, I liked that the sauce wasn't overly sweet, though I found the omelet itself to have a better texture at the latter place, as there were more oysters. Favorite of the Taiwanese dishes was the $18.95 3 Cup Chicken/三杯鸡/Sanbeiji. The version here was much more flavorful, with a balanced amount of sweetness, saltiness, and slight herbal flavors. The chicken was also a lot more tender, so overall, this was outstanding and an easy highlight. The other best dish was their take on Fly Head/Fly's Head/蒼蠅頭 for $17.95. There were plenty of garlic chives to add freshness, and it wasn't too salty from the black bean. Otherwise, it was spicy and balanced. This was also tasty. For the same price, there was also the Shredded Beef with Chili Peppers. This was spicier by comparison, and the beef was pretty tender. I enjoyed it along with the rest of the table. There was also the Shredded Beef with Chili Peppers for the same price. The beef was decently tender and had plenty of peppers to add a good kick. I liked the additional aromatic vegetables added on top, which added extra flavors and textures. Best of the Malaysian dishes was the $18.95 Belacan Special, which included okra/lady fingers, eggplant, and green beans, cooked in a sauce made from fermented shrimp paste. The vegetables were cooked down perfectly as they still retained a lot of texture, with the eggplant being a highlight. Otherwise, there was a lot of belacan, but not too much that the dish was too funky or salty. This was easily the best of the Malaysian dishes. The $12.95 Mee Goreng, listed as Indian style stir-fried noodles with authentic mild dried squid sauce with tofu, potato, shrimp, egg, bean sprouts, and onion, was alright. The price was reasonable, but I found it way too sweet. The remaining toppings were nice, and while there weren't many shrimp, I wouldn't expect that many at that price point. On a side note, I have a cephalopod allergy, so I'm surprised I didn't have a reaction to this dish. My least favorite main dish by a country mile was their take on Lamb/Kambing Rendang for $21.95, listed as lamb, coconut milk, chilis, and spices cooked over low heat. Outside of it being by far the most expensive dish, the lamb wasn't tender, being actually a bit chewy. The worst part was that compared to some of the other dishes, it lacked heat and flavor, with there being only hits of coconut milk or chili. This is one of my favorite Malaysian dishes, and I usually scarf it down, but I didn't like this at all. Last of the dishes, and unfinished, was the $17.95 Bitter Melon with Salted Egg Yolk. Due to the bitterness, I was one of the few who enjoyed it, while some of the other groups didn't touch much of it. I personally liked it, as I don't mind bitter flavors, and there wasn't too much salted egg that it was pasty. I wouldn't order this alone, but it would make a nice vegetable side along with a sweet or savory main dish. Last was the $9.95 Mango Sticky Rice. The mango was pretty fresh, but the rice could have used a bit more sweetness and a bit more coconut milk. It was perfectly decent. It feels a bit odd rating this place. A couple of dishes were outstanding, some were good to mixed, and I hated two others. Low/mid 3.
