The Grand looks so nice we couldn't wait to try it. The food was good, the waitress was nice. I didn't know what to expect but figured it would be good and it was. The Philly cheesesteak was good wasn't made with cheap meat it appeared. But I can't believe I thought I took a pic or a video & I didn't.

I came here a couple of times with different groups but always for brunch, and I was never disappointed! The place is pretty big, clean, bright. There's days (usually Sundays) where it can get pretty busy, but it doesn't matter, because the service will always be pretty attentive! We got our food pretty fast and it tasted great. Also, they do Greek frappe and freddo espresso/cappuccino. So good! :)

I think it was just okay. My salmon wrap with couscous did not have much flavor. I had to ask for sauce to make it taste more. I stole some of my friend's sweet potatoes fries and those were delicious. She enjoyed her chicken ciabatta sandwich. Menu was not updated because I saw all day breakfast but when I asked, they said it's not true. I was looking forward to the DJ that Saturday night and there was no DJ. The website said there is a DJ. I guess August is a slow month!

    - Busy, lively, energetic atmosphere during Saturday brunch--great vibe, but the music and crowd made it pretty loud and a bit challenging for conversation in our larger group of 13 - The restaurant was nearly packed around 1p - Very accommodating and attentive waitstaff - Food was excellent: I had the Skillet Baked Eggs--two eggs baked in a savory tomato sauce in a cast-iron skillet, plus home fries and toast, perfect for sopping up all that hearty, tomatoey goodness; Iced Banana Maple Latte was strong with just the right amount of sweetness from the whipped cream and maple syrup; my hubs ordered the Breakfast Burger, which came slightly overcooked from the requested medium but still very enjoyable; the kiddos shared the Three Cheese Omelette and finished it without complaints--always a win! - Everyone in our party enjoyed their meals - Word of advice--BRING CASH--otherwise, prepare for multiple fees: start with automatic 20% gratuity for large parties, then a 3% credit card fee calculated on food PLUS gratuity, and sales tax applied on food PLUS the 3% fee; charging the 3% on top of the auto-gratuity felt a bit off - Still giving 4 stars because the food was exceptional and the service was very good despite the busy brunch rush--will definitely bring cash next time!

The service was fine, it was a very cute and aesthetic place. I ordered a chicken sandwich with a cappuccino. The sandwich was good and the cappuccino was okay. There was music playing relatively loud which I didn't expect.

What a grand time :D Everyone enjoyed the food! Our table ordered all sorts of brunch entrees--sandwiches, eggs benedict, pancakes, chicken and waffles. My Crispy Chicken sandwich was sooo good and filling (chipotle mayo is top tier), and I took the second half home. Their drinks are served in huge glasses, not the usual flutes that mimosas and bellinis are served in. Bottomless was truly bottomless--never saw the bottom of my glass! If you have a large party, call ahead and reserve. We called four days ahead for a party of 13 and they were able to accommodate us and had our table ready when we arrived. I also liked that they allow everyone to order a la carte rather than having us choose from a family-style prix-fixe menu.

I came here with a voucher. The service was amazing. Alllll of the staff were attentive. Our waitress name was Ianna or so. I have to check my receipt. But she was great. It was a calm Friday night. The drinks were tasty, my partner especially loved the margarita. There was a DJ. He played calm "background" music. Overall pleasant date night.

I visited with a group of girls. There were about 9 of us total. The service was pretty slow. The staff did make sure to come back and check in that everything was good but the food was just underwhelming to me. They had typical brunch items but it just fell a bit short for me. The potatoes were good, the pancakes were ok, pretty fluffy and floury. If you like that then it may be for you. The space was nice and is good for accommodating large groups but otherwise I find no real reason to return.

Came a couple times and tried both their brunch and dinner options. Very solid happy hour and so many different offerings on their menus. Also, who doesn't love an all day brunch? The food was just OK but the vibes are great and there's a lot of outdoor seating.

CUTE LUNCH SPOT IN ASTORIA I stopped in for an early lunch. We were promptly seated and the service was attentive throughout. The menu was varied with lots to choose from which was what drew us in because I was dining with a fairly picky eater. We opted to order a couple starters to share amongst us since it was still pretty early in the day and no one was up for a full entree. We had the Guacamole & Chips, Sweet Chili Chicken Wings and Crispy Shrimp Tacos. Everyone was happy with what we ordered. The shining star for me was the Strawberry Nutella Crepe which I added a scoop of Vanilla ice cream to make it sheer perfection. The strawberries were fresh and the Nutella was generously drizzled on top. This one I ate all by myself. On the way out I noticed that they offer All Day Brunch which is something that I will have to come back to try!

The Grand is such a nice place to stop for dinner in Astoria- especially when the weather is fine! They have indoor and outdoor seating. For outdoor seating, you can choose smoking or non-smoking. However I was a bit disappointed because the view was prettier in the smoking section lol. They have delicious drinks a plenty, alcoholic and non. I want to come back and try some of their seasonal coffee drinks soon. The food was also delicious as well. However the service was rather slow which is why I'm giving 4 stars rather than 5.

Greek Town Astoria cannot be denied it's certain zest for their food and drinks and joyous consumptions. Now crossing the six month mark with the new girlfriend, she's taken me on some day and nighttime humdingers within the inner circles of this culture. I've always respected the Greeks for all of their, albeit antiquated contributions to civilization, their history is one of math and science, stars and sea and much more we all know a little something about from our books when we were in school. Now a bit of a dying culture in my eyes as so many other beautiful cultures are dying because of factors I shall remain steadfast in my tightness of lip. But I shall see the country at some point in the future, maybe I'll stay a while so I might get some food staples and architectural understanding as the language is so challenging. The Grand was slamming music - Greek music -- ehh, its a little hard on my ears but I'm powering thru, as the servers sling plates of spinach this and puff pastry that and salads that reawoke the greens lover in me. And you don't have to be eating here in the street side section of the cafe insulated by thick shrubs and views of this special coven within a part of town that's been a Greek stronghold since I was a young lad and likely decades earlier. Have a coffee or frappe, be careful with the Ouzo as it's Grappa that kicks like a mule.

We came to the grand on a sunday to celebrate a birthday. Right off the bat, they claimed they did not have our reservation for 10 people and we had to show them the confirmation email. After this we waited about 30 minutes for them to get a table ready and seat us. The hostess was rude and did not make us feel welcomed. She made us feel like we did something wrong when really the restaurant messed up. Thankfully, when we actually got sat, our waitress, Katerina was wonderful. She was all smiles, accommodating, quick, and made our experience so much better. Some of my friends got bottomless brunch and she made sure their drinks were always full. She handled a party of 9 by herself very well! As far as the food, my favorite was the iced vanilla latte I ordered. The coffee was delicious!! I ordered the Shakshuka as the entree and it was okay. The eggs were a bit over cooked and not as runny as I would prefer and the tomatoes base was the opposite, a bit too wet.

I learned that they have a sister pub called the Bonnie in Ditmars, which I have been to and had a great time. Last Saturday I came back for a third time. I was surprised at how things had changed; much more laid-back, with good customer service, good vibes, and one of the most delicious bar burgers I have ever eaten, with a side salad, in any pub or establishment in Queens. Furthermore, Sweet Afron had some nice alternatives to bear and larger, and I selected a cider instead. First, I was offered a sip, and then, upon my approval, a full glass of cider. In conclusion, I do plan to return!

One thing that makes 7th Street Burger so compelling in that they offer vegan burgers which taste just like the real thing. What to make of this place?…read more When we visited in September (at that time), a wanna-be sports bar had just taken over the Greek taverna Blue Sea Taverna (before that, two iterations of Akrotiri). Both Greek tavernas had failed or gone out of business. So we were curious to see what changes had been made. When we entered, we were initially confused because the seating, especially the lounge seating, did not create a sports bar vibe. Even adding a bunch of TVs did not give us that feel either. Instead, our initial impression was that they were trying to convert an old Greek taverna into a gastropub, similar to other well-known ones in the area. And I should also add we had not been following the local news about the controversy regarding their name association with a World War II fortified bunker that was blown up at the end of the Second World War, and only read about the controversy over their name after we left, and on social media. Apparently, the owner(s) were most likely unaware of its historical context when naming their establishment. So we did not factor that into this review. Upon entering the Wolf's Lair, the seating was that of a modified Mediterranean restaurant. We chose the comfy seating looking out towards 29th Street and 30th Avenue. It had been raining heavily, and so we were just glad to be inside. Because our initial impression was that we were in a Mediterranean gastropub, we ordered lamb chops with lemon potatoes. The waiter, who may have been one of the owners, informed us that this vegetable was not on the menu; however, when our chops arrived, as you can see from the photos, we were indeed served lemon potatoes. We got what we ordered, which made us happy, and the chops were cooked to perfection. As we usually do not drink alcohol, beverages were not factored into our review. However, there was one thing we found a little strange and creepy. When we left, one of the employees, presumably an owner, insisted on coming out to help take photos. This was a little off-putting. Nevertheless, we got some good shots. In writing this review, we spent a lot of time deliberating our experience at the Wolf's Lair. We focused on the restaurant, service, food quality, and atmosphere. While the overall experience was excellent, we did not find Wolf's Lair to have a sports-bar atmosphere, but rather a family-dining atmosphere. On the day we visited, there was hardly any action at the bar, and most of us seated were into the food, if nothing else, with one family having a birthday party for one of their children. Overall, we had a good experience. Whether we come back to see if the Wolf's Lair becomes an actual sports bar, well, that's another matter.

While deciding where to go one day, this was suggested and im so glad I went. The restaurant is cozy with tables inside the main dining room and in an enclosed outdoor seating area. Im guessing it opens in the summer. I sat down with my niece while waiting for my sister and for a good 5-7 minutes, no one stopped by and gave a menu nor offered water. Finally after about 3 people walked by not saying anything, someone came. The area is not that big and 7 minutes isnt that long but to sit there any not be addressed by all the staff walking by was annoying. Finally my sister came and we were offered water and a menu. After hearing about the specials and asking for recommendations, we settled on the gnocchi (housemade potato gnocchi, burrata, peas, pesto sauce, toasted pine nuts), Pappardelle alla Bolognese (housemade ribbon pasta, meat sauce), and side of sautéed spinach. The food arrived and we were pleasantly delightful by the main. The gnocchi was so soft and creamy, the sauce was delicious. Im not a fan of gnocchi but this was so good. The papardelle was my meal and it was also so good. There was a lot of pasta and a good amount of meat sauce. It was also delicious. The spinach on the other hand was bland. It has no flavor and we had to add some salt. A few times we tried to call someone over to our table but felt like no one was paying attention. When we were done with our meals, my sister had a few pieces of gnocchi left. She asked for a box as it was to be my nieces lunch for tomorrow. I then said, can you also box up the spinach. A few minutes later, the server dropped off a bag with one container and said here's the spinach. We tried to call his attention but he was already walking away. Where was the gnocchi. Finally when we came back, we asked about it and he said oh I thought it was garbage. I said no we asked for it to be boxed. He said let me talk to the kitchen. He came back and said sorry, they cant do anything but one dessert will be on me. I guess thats fine but we more wanted the food for the baby. For dessert we ordered a tiramisu and pistachio gelato. The tiramisu was in a jar as opposed to a cake slice. One bite of the ice cream and I knew it was bad. It was grainy and sandy texture. I looked up why that would be and one reason stated it could be improper storage, like it was unfrozen or melted then refrozen. I wasn't chancing that. I told the server and said I couldn't eat it. He offered another dessert but I said know, then offered a limoncello shot. While I appreciate the offer, we weren't drinking before so that wasn't the best option to offer. I just said im fine without a replacement. When we got the bill, the dessert was taken off like he said he would. We paid and left. Overall the main course/pasta meals were delicious. The sides and desserts could use work. Service was alright. Id definitely come back for the food and to try some of the pizza.

What a charming neighborhood gem! We came on a Monday night as a party of three to celebrate our…read morefriend Liz's bday and I have had this place bookmarked for a while and it easily exceeded expectations. The decor is simple but cozy, it seems like a place you find yourself in, in the middle of the week. The food: Anchovy Special with Arugula and Orange Supremes- Shocking how good this was, the anchovy was cooked perfectly, they were incredibly tasty without being oily. It went nicely with the arugula and the freshness of the citrus. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA&select=WXs8evyJarabbHv9XVj6fw Melanzane alla Parmigiana- breaded eggplant, mozzarella, tomato sauce, basil. This was basically an eggplant parm and the eggplant was cooked perfectly, the cheese was ok but the sauce made this dish really tasty with the nice homemade focaccia they give you in the beginning. Branzino Special with Cannelli Beans and Swiss Chard. This was the winner of the evening. The cripsy skin was amazing. The fish was cooked to perfection, the cannelli beans I thought were going to be weird but it added a nice creaminess to the fish. Lastly the swiss chard was crunchy on the ends and nice and tender on the leaf. This should be put on the regular menu. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA&select=xNVfJCmf89OOY-1ME3FY7Q Controfiletto- grilled prime angus N.Y. strip steak served with roasted marble potatoes. I hate to say it but as good as the steak was, the roasted potatoes was the star of show. The potatoes were amazing. Pappardelle alla Bolognese- housemade ribbon pasta, meat sauce. This was good but came off a bit plain. The pasta was homemade but it was almost to a fault since the pasta came out too soft. The flavors were good but I felt this would have been a better, reheated the next day kind of dish.
