Good spot to watch a game but otherwise pretty average. Happy hour that unfortunately ends at 6 pm is priced good but otherwise the food and drink are kinda expensive. On par with other neighborhood bars but the quality of food doesn't meet what can be found nearby. Tge menu is limited to bar staples and found everything a bit greasy. I enjoyed my cheese steak and disco fries a lot. But my lady's burger was just sad. Menu describes it as a smash burger but it wasn't smashed at all. It looked live a frozen puck overcooked to death. At $18 it didn't meet my expectations at that price point. Any beer one would want to drink are $8-9. Good selection with sone local brews on tap. I'd def cone back for a game, drinks and snack but would look for any substantial eats elsewhere. Bonus point for Staff who were nice enough and attentive. read more

Such an unsuspecting location for a great sports bar. I came here on a Saturday night to watch the Notre Dame game after seeing on Reddit that this was a Notre Dame bar. The place was decked out in Notre Dame gear, and the volume was playing loud enough to hear the commentary which was important to my date. Drink prices were more than reasonable, with specials like a shot and a beer for $11 which I thought was pretty excellent. Though the bar was pretty packed we were able to grab two bar stools just in time before things started really getting crowded. Service was fast and friendly. Can't speak to the food but everything coming out looked excellent, I'd definitely come back to give the food a try. The only drawback of this place was that there was a fight happening the same time as the game, which they were charging a $200 minimum per table for. Totally get that they need to make that bread but sucked that it interfered with the crowd that was here to watch the rest of the game. read more

The ambiance is always fun (with the option to play darts most nights when it isn't too packed), and it's ELECTRIC to watch sports there (especially Mets and Knicks games, along with boxing and MMA pay per views). Old school Irish bar in Astoria thats actually a sports bar with many tvs , large bar area and tables all around front and back . The football games were on and place was packed with folks cheering on their teams and enjoying better then average bar grub.. Good wings , good burgers and much more is available on the menu with prices that will not hurt your wallet. Murphy's Sports Bar opened in Astoria early in 2024 and received many positive reviews. Our first visit was for a St. Patrick's Day breakfast with a traditional Irish breakfast. We had a problem getting two seats and I explained to the waitress that we do not put a tab on our food or hand over our credit card. Nowadays, with so much fraud going around, this is a BIG NO-NO. We never do this at any establishment. So we paid with cash. Now, to the good part. Murphys is a very welcome addition to the bar scene in Astoria. This Irish bar is warm and friendly with a surprisingly good crowd, considering how close they are to Astoria Blvd, which is out of the way for most residents up in the 40s. Our seats were comfortable, and there were big screens all around us so that we could watch a Premier League game without bobbing heads in front of us. Artistically, management has taken into account the vibrant history of Astoria, and we captured a lot of the atmosphere around us -(we visited midmorning/late afternoon period). From the food perspective, the Irish breakfast, which included sausage and beans, was delicious, and we were certainly not short of options. I don't usually drink, but as it was an Irish pub, I ordered a larger one with my breakfast. This was a rarity, so I plan to avoid repeating it for some time. Would I come back for future visits? Yes, but management, please do not ask patrons for credit cards. This was a turn-off and potentially asking for card scrimming or even the loss of a credit card. I would love to give you five stars, but this negative aspect of our experience was a bit jarring, and I would ask you to stop this practice. Otherwise, we had a great time at your bar. read more

I came here to watch the game 7 Knicks playoff Game and it did not disappoint. The place was packed with fans and had awesome energy. There were tables inside and outside. Despite the crowds it was very quick to be served by a bartender who was on top of it. I can't wait to return for future games. read more

Nice sports bar locate in Astoria, this is a great place to watch any sports, like Football, Soccer and baseball. I Came here to watch the Amazing New York Mets and the bar was pack, my recomendation is come before the game that you are loooking to watch, if you want to watch any sports and have a table or seat on the bar. Beer selection that are in draft are a great variety, and food options is great. Went here this evening 6/8/24 and will admit the food is very good. We had the sweet chili popcorn chicken which was very tasty with a nice little spice to it. We had the chicken burger which was a nice size and very good. Also had the Murphys burger which was big and really tasty. You definitely get a nice big burger. Fries were nice and crispy. Now on to the service, just horrible. At first if you sit down and don't notice on the menu that it says all service at the bar the bartenders don't say a word, we had to ask. Also it wasn't even remotely close to busy at the time, so a little just telling you would be helpful. Decided to sit at the bar so we're not going back and forth. Definitely need waiter/waitress service. If it was extremely busy this would be horrible. The female bartender has to be one of the worst I've ever encountered. She sees you sit there and still just doesn't say a word, it's like she could've cared less. Maybe it's because most of the time she was too busy on her phone or talking to the guys at the bar in hopes of picking them up, at least that's what it seemed like to us. After the food came she walked by several times and not a once "how is everything" or "can I get you anything else or do you need anything". It's a small thing but should be done and I'm not a high maintenance person that needs to be fawned over but a little goes a long way. She is just not attentive or around when you do need something, like another drink. The male bartender from our observation was somewhat better but still loved being on his phone. Most of the time both of them were down the same end of the bar talking to each other or the girl that brings the food out and someone else sitting at the bar. There's too POS systems behind the bar and the beer taps in the middle, each bartender should have a side and stay there to attend to their customers, not hang out. As I said food was good but the service needs a lot of work.......oh and the benches and umbrellas to sit outside are a nice addition during the warm weather, but don't kid yourself it's not a beer garden. read more

Great sports bar to watch the games and UFC with full sound and no cover and awesome atmosphere. The food in my opinion is NOT good at all. Burgers have no flavor and are very bland. Wings are literally rubber. Tacos are on the small side. Also a big issue for me is there is no waitress service! This causes a big cluster at times as you have to get up from your table to order any drinks or food. On big fight nights and sports the bartenders are overwhelmed (not their fault) and you cannot get a drink or close out your tab it takes forever! I can't believe they dont have a better system in place as having to get up for every drink at your table and having to wait sometimes forever for anything. read more

I decided to give this place another chance despite my bad experience last year. It was raining, I had no vehicle. Give me a break, this area sucks. Ambiance was great, as before. I still had to approach the bar to order but the gregarious Leia (spelling?) made it a great experience, unlike the grumpy guy at the bar last year. The wings were incredible. This place is a sorry excuse for a sports bar. The service here is non existent and they don't have the sound on for games. The first time I came here earlier in the year, a staff member brought their wedding party in during the 8 pm Sunday games and they were obnoxiously noisy and played crappy music over the speakers the entire time. Today, I came here earlier today during the bills bye week to watch the pats game, and the place was basically empty. I noticed that they had the jets game playing on all of their 15 plus tv screens so I asked if I could get one dialed into my game- simple request. the girl behind the bar told me that "all the TVs have been spoken for" and that it's "first come first served". That's crazy to me , cause the place was empty as shit ‍. Either home girl didn't want to change the channel or she didn't know how- but I found her answer weird because the other bars down the street had no problem putting the game on for me.
