Has ceiling fans but doesn't use them properly. They are off. During winter set fans to clockwise rotation to drive down hot air from ceiling to floor. I came back to Tap House on a Saturday afternoon and had a great time. The bartender was super friendly. I ordered a burger from the brunch menu, which was delicious by the way, and she replaced the tots with fries and since brunch includes a drink she included the beer I was already drinking (brunch menu only had mimosas, screw driver and a couple other drinks, but beer). Fries were also delicious! Nice ambiance music and friendly patrons. I will definitely be back! Parking isn't easy but you can find metered parking. Be careful if you park near the residential area because some streets are private and they can boot your car. read more

Just had a get together with some friends since 5 yrs old. So we celebrated at the Tap House and had the greatest experience. We were waited on by Jamie who was absolutely phenomenal taking great care of us. Also the woman server for dining tables was fantastic as well. Everybody's friendly there. I went with a screwdriver with pineapple juice and Their fish & chips. Absolutely phenomenal. The cod was cooked to perfection and had it with tater tots. I get that they need to have music for atmosphere given they are a bar/restaurant but having it this loud every night is a lot. Also there is always some weird fight happening because they close so late so not the best folk hang there and cause chaos- idk why the NYPD doesn't do something about it already. Pretty solid dive bar option on bustling Austin St. Popped in early evening for food and drink and some baseball prior to a show at Forest Hills. I will say that the spicy chicken sandwich is no joke. Huge and with jalapeños on it as well as jalapeño bacon, it is tasty but legit spicy. Also enjoyed the fried pickle appetizer. My girlfriend was less impressed with the pulled pork sliders. Beer list was solid, good local options--perhaps a tad IPA and lager heavy, but it happens. Seems like a good bar for sports watching, with ample TVs for multiple events. Struck me as perhaps a tad unclean but then again it is a dive bar! The staff was great and as he knew most of the people there, they were all cordial and friendly. The bar is located on a blocked off street so we could comfortable sit down and be socially distant. I stop in here en route, either coming back from Manhattan or headed there. It is convenient to the LIRR stop and only a couple of blocks from the 71st/Continental subway stop, and I often eat in the neighborhood. I have no complaints. They don't recognize me. That is fine. I'd rather be anonymous. Plus, a dozen visits in four years hardly qualifies me as a barfly like Norm Peterson and Cliff Clavin at Cheers, a reference that likely dates me, since the spinoff to that sitcom has been off the air for a couple decades. I have noticed that the venue is popular: on some visits, the place is packed, and you can hardly get in. Beyond the basics, I would say they have a great selection of beers. It is just outstanding for a neighborhood joint. If you are one of those connoisseurs who samples the beverage, keeping track (I know there are social media apps; I enjoy imbibing, but I do not need another app to play with), you would do well with a session here. I have eaten a few times. The food is what you would expect. That is a compliment, not a criticism. It is quite competent, and that is tempting. I frequent the restaurants in this area and I never went to Tap House until last week. I met a random customer who turned out to be a highly accomplished chef. He recommended the tacos to me which weren't on the normal menu. I was skeptical at first and took a chance. WOW...they were amazing. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the sauce was a winner. I recently went to Tap House for a UYE during Yelp Drinks Week. By the way, a UYE is an Unofficial Yelp Event in case you're not part of the cult. Tap House is a chill neighborhood bar in the wilderness of Queens that offers some decent brews on draft. As it was a Friday night, the bar was pretty full. As I looked around, I kept thinking that the patrons were definitely an interesting mix of young, old, gay, straight, rowdy, and quiet individuals. Someone made the remark saying that this place reminded him of a bar in a suburb in Chicago. Although I've never been to the suburbs of Chicago, I got that suburb feeling too. It reminds me of the kind of bar in my small hometown where you might run into your boyfriend's parents or your school teacher or those guys from the gym. It was kind of nice. My friend and I left the party early to head elsewhere for the evening. Apparently after I left it turned into a drunken rage party so I'm curious to see this place late at night. We had a very helpful server who told us what food was really good, what was his favorites, and what to avoid lol I love honest employees haha So I took his recommendation and ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and it was very delicious! So both the food and service was great! As far as atmosphere goes- also very good! It was a Monday so I don't know how it is on the weekends, but it wasn't too crowded. I consistently describe this bar as my favorite bar. There's something magical about knowing that tucked away in my hometown is a bar with amazing wings and a good vibe. It's got a nice divey feel. They've got a bar in the front, a few tables in the back, two nice bathrooms. I've been here three times now and each time I've enjoyed it. One of the bartenders is kind of a tool, which is the only reason I took off one star. He's sullen and rude, slammed our drinks down a few times even though we were on our best behavior, etc. There's a woman waitress who's lovely.
