Just had a get together with some friends since 5 yrs old. So we celebrated at the Tap House and had the greatest experience. We were waited on by Jamie who was absolutely phenomenal taking great care of us. Also the woman server for dining tables was fantastic as well. Everybody's friendly there. I went with a screwdriver with pineapple juice and Their fish & chips. Absolutely phenomenal. The cod was cooked to perfection and had it with tater tots. We had a fantastic experience at The Tap House. Thank you for a wonderful time.

This is one of my friends neighborhood bar hangout. We came just to have a birthday drink/shots after dinner. The staff was great and as he knew most of the people there, they were all cordial and friendly. The bar is located on a blocked off street so we could comfortable sit down and be socially distant. The prices were very fair and I enjoyed the time I spent here.

Food is good. Good selection of cocktails on the menu. Lots of choices of beer on tap and draft. 50c wings every Monday and Thursday. You can wait a little sometimes for service... Overall not a bad place for drinks and food.

I like old school NYC bars and The Tap House has that vibe. Almost in the dive bar category but not quite. A friendly neighborhood bar right on Austin Street with an experienced staff, good beer selection (IPAs), and a good hang. Stop in for a drink, or two, or three.

Tap Room used to be the only forest hills neighborhood bar. Buy backs were the norm. Now you get a SMALL glass of wine with no buy backs and increased price. (See picture) No longer recommended. The 1 STAR is too generous. Will never come again Further, when I came in the bartender was sitting at a table eating and seemed annoyed to have to get up. Also ignored the phone ringing. Good bar gone bad.

Very good food especially the wings and tacos. Best bartenders ever Maria, Adrian, Nick, Anthony, Jamie and Geordie.

Best bar in Forest Hills. The drinks and the food are surprisingly inexpensive. The appetizers are very good. The servers are excellent.

Pints are a bit pricey, but it IS NYC. I'm a transplant who just enjoys that it's a Steelers dive bar.

Does this place do karaoke? I typed karaoke in on yelp and it came up but I don't see indication that it does. Thanks ahead of time

No as far as I'm aware of. It just has ambiance music.

Beer good Good good…read morePeople good And the allow dogs. What more can you ask for? Really though, there's a wide selection of beer both local, to micro brewers, to foreign. The food is Korean centric pub food. From fries, to burgers, nachos, pasta, bossam, etc. And the people are all so nice. We always come with our dog and they always bring water for him, and we go enough so they recognize us when we come in. Of course though we stay in the outdoor dining area, which is covered during the colder months. But even then, they turn in heating for us when we are out there while every other patron are dining inside.

The food itself is pretty good. I liked the pasta and the pork belly dish. The fried were ok. I also tried the nachos and really liked the cheese for it's subtle taste however I was not a fan of the rest of it. For the price the portions are pretty small and not filling. Warning it can be pretty loud as I had to yell to talk to my friends. My main con and suggestion for improvement is the tables and chairs. The chairs are really small so it might not be comfortable for most. Also, our table was very wobbly so we moved to another one and that one ended up being wobbly too. I'm hoping they can change them as it will help the comfort of the guests. On a good note, I liked the service! The waitress was nice but I believe there was a busser who was attentive and respectful towards us!

It's a pretty nice sports bar with large TV screens throughout the place so will definitely be on my list of places to hit up to watch a few games! Overall food and service was on point, but also it was a random weeknight where there wasn't a crowd. Either way, recommend this bar if you're looking to grab a bite or watch a game! Classic Waygu Burger - 4/5 Great tasting and juicy burger, but one thing I wish was included was a side of fries at bare minimum. Cook of the meat was on point Disco Fries - 5/5 - Think of it as poutine but with mozzarella instead. Great side dish to a burger

What to make of this place?…read more When we visited in September (at that time), a wanna-be sports bar had just taken over the Greek taverna Blue Sea Taverna (before that, two iterations of Akrotiri). Both Greek tavernas had failed or gone out of business. So we were curious to see what changes had been made. When we entered, we were initially confused because the seating, especially the lounge seating, did not create a sports bar vibe. Even adding a bunch of TVs did not give us that feel either. Instead, our initial impression was that they were trying to convert an old Greek taverna into a gastropub, similar to other well-known ones in the area. And I should also add we had not been following the local news about the controversy regarding their name association with a World War II fortified bunker that was blown up at the end of the Second World War, and only read about the controversy over their name after we left, and on social media. Apparently, the owner(s) were most likely unaware of its historical context when naming their establishment. So we did not factor that into this review. Upon entering the Wolf's Lair, the seating was that of a modified Mediterranean restaurant. We chose the comfy seating looking out towards 29th Street and 30th Avenue. It had been raining heavily, and so we were just glad to be inside. Because our initial impression was that we were in a Mediterranean gastropub, we ordered lamb chops with lemon potatoes. The waiter, who may have been one of the owners, informed us that this vegetable was not on the menu; however, when our chops arrived, as you can see from the photos, we were indeed served lemon potatoes. We got what we ordered, which made us happy, and the chops were cooked to perfection. As we usually do not drink alcohol, beverages were not factored into our review. However, there was one thing we found a little strange and creepy. When we left, one of the employees, presumably an owner, insisted on coming out to help take photos. This was a little off-putting. Nevertheless, we got some good shots. In writing this review, we spent a lot of time deliberating our experience at the Wolf's Lair. We focused on the restaurant, service, food quality, and atmosphere. While the overall experience was excellent, we did not find Wolf's Lair to have a sports-bar atmosphere, but rather a family-dining atmosphere. On the day we visited, there was hardly any action at the bar, and most of us seated were into the food, if nothing else, with one family having a birthday party for one of their children. Overall, we had a good experience. Whether we come back to see if the Wolf's Lair becomes an actual sports bar, well, that's another matter.
