The Globe Tavern - Pubs Near Me - Woodside, New York

The owners are really nice and help/contribute to the community. It is a nice, wholesome, friendly neighborhood "third place" and everybody is welcomed. It is bigger than it looks from the outside. In the back there is a pool table and a garden where you can sit . The bartenders are super friendly and nice.. Many are actors and the boss celebrates their successes when they get acting jobs. The art on the walls is from local artists. the bar owners initiate karaoke nights, game nights, free pizza nights etc so it is not a bar where everybody just stares at 17 big TVs. read more

I love The Globe! One of the owners is a lovely community builder, the bar tenders are sweet and attentive, and the regulars are engaging and welcoming. In addition to having a homey atmosphere, The Globe hosts art shows from up and coming local artists, has an adorable backyard, and nice pool table. It's one of my favorite places in the borough. We love The Globe! We love The Globe! It's the perfect neighborhood (and beyond!) bar. Bartenders are genuine and there's a weekly line-up of events including karaoke and trivia. Oh, and there's a pool table tucked in the back of the bar and cute garden area, as well. Very friendly bartenders and, almost without exception, customers. Easy place to strike up a conversation with either or both. They have two good, new dartboards and as far as I know, the only pool table in Sunnyside. Board games. Trivia night and karaoke night, both also very friendly/convivial. Nice dive-y place with friendly bartenders and a cute backyard! We got eaten up by mosquitoes back there though so had to move inside, which was no problem with plenty of seating and space for activities (pool, darts, random assortment of games) I'd definitely come back here! read more

My favorite bar in all of woodside! Their drinks are strong and reasonably priced drinks. Relaxed atmosphere and the patrons and bartenders are equally as cool. There's even a pool table and little back patio you can sit out on warmer days. They also have Trivia night on Monday's and karaoke Saturdays, and that always makes for a fun time! And if you're really lucky, the have free pizza on some nights! read more

Good neighborhood bar. They have karaoke on an bi-weekly basis and Simon the host knows how to keep things moving. Only one barmaid/owner on a busy night, but she knows what she is doing and there was almost no wait for a drink. Well worth a visit. I would definitely come back. This Sunnyside/Woodside stalwart never fails to deliver! A great crowd of good-natured regulars in here mixed among plenty of weekly fresh faces. Rena, Amanda, and co. will get to know you in no time and are there to help you wash away the pain. Raciest bar the second time I've walked been denied service. Stopped in to have a drink was denied service immediately. I am a 25 year old black woolen who happens to be bull legged. The bar tender said I was too drunk and didn't need to be there. I did indeed stumble in because as stated before I am bull legged and happened to have heels on and my left leg indeed stumble behind. I tried I explain that gl the bar tender but she refused to here it and said to get out of her bar. I would 100 percent say this had nothing to do with my legging dragging and it 100 percent had to do with my skin color this is the 3rd time it's happened to me at this terrible racist establishment. read more

After the renovations, new TVs on all walls, new felt on the pool table, and an overall more spacious feel, The Globe Tavern is an improvement on its predecessor, The Brogue. The bar staff always friendly and there is never a wait for the next drink. A lot of locals regularly frequent The Globe, but everyone is made welcome, unlike some of the Sunnyside and Woodside establishments. Always a great place to have a beer before heading off to Shea (aka Citi Field) or a nightcap after the game. They don't serve food, but do have takeout menus for customers. I like to pickup a couple of slices and order a cold one. Overall, a great neighborhood watering hole. read more

Went here for the first time with a bunch of friends for some hangs - but the bartender was sort of unwelcoming. She told us there was a $5 "any cocktail drink special" going on but whenever we asked for a drink she'd say stuff like "not that" "uh definitely not" and laugh at us. i personally felt it was because we weren't regulars and she wanted to keep the place regulars only but i can't say for sure. The Globe, formerly the Brogue, is the kind of place I'm eager to swing by if I'm ever in the Sunnyside / Woodside area, and this is from a guy who lives in Harlem, Manhattan. It's just a simple neighborhood bar with a great local vibe. I make friends here every time I show up on a weekend night. The drinks are affordable and there are nice board games to play. Globe is a solid choice when it comes to Sunnyside bars. Atmosphere is super chill, sometimes they give away free food, there's a juke box and games and an outdoor garden. What's not to love? Rena is super sweet. Just get to know her, she's a doll. They also have karaoke on the weekends. Good times all around. read more

The Globe is a little gem of a pub on the border of Sunnyside and Woodside: nice selection of beer, friendly staff, mellow atmosphere, and the recent renovation opened the place up and made it even nicer, especially when the big front windows are open.
