I came here for a birthday night out in the LIC area. We found a parking spot down the street which was great. They checked our ids and it was free to enter. We got a table and we started our night. The place was pretty small so if you want a table i would definitely recommend to come early. The dj on Saturday night was very good. They played a variety of music and gave birthday shout outs to our friend. The shirley temple was great because im pregnant lol. We ended up at Dive bar by chance. It was a group of us for ladies night Thursday. We had drinks else where and decided to have some food and hookah. So we went bar hopping. The place we went first said it was too early for hookah(they start at 10pm) but suggested we come here. Great suggestion! We were greeted and served our drinks right away. I gotta give it to them on their drinks, they are not shy with alcohol. Love it. You get your $ worth! We got what we came for, the hookah. It cost $35 and also lasted a long time. Thats a plus for us. But the best part is they accept cards. They don't put hookah on your bill but before you had to have cash or pay a fee at the ATM if you didn't have enough. Now you can pay w card for it. The food was on point. I ordered steak and it was seasoned very well and the fries were so tasty the rest ordered chicken wings, sliders and shrimp tacos and I heard zero complaints. The DJ had a nice vibe going. I liked this place if you're looking for a sports bar/Lounge vibe. The hookah was super strong but they make you pay for a whole new hookah instead of just a refill. I noticed only light skinned girls were waitresses. They were super sweet and friendly but a little diversity goes a long way. Great service, just an observation. I came here around 9:00pm with two other ppl. We were told we couldn't sit at the bar cause the bar only had one seat. We were also told that reservations were needed but they had a table to accommodate us even though we didn't have reservations. It's an hour table limit if you only order drinks. It's an hour and half table limit if you order food and drinks. The service was horrible. Was here an hour and half. Only had one drink because the waitress never came back. Main dish I went with the Dive smash burger it was very good, nice taste to the meat had a salad instead of fries not bad but it was drowning in sauce too much for the small salad, the burger was good but also very messy. Steak frites was very good nice piece of meat, decent fries. The best Dam chicken sandwich & yummy Brussels salad w shrimp was good as well. After dinner we headed downstairs & hung around for more drinks, it got crowded so it was a bit challenging to get drinks no additional food but we had some popcorn which was good helps keep ya kinda sober loll. Dive Bar is a place I found on IG and bookmarked under Happy Hour with my girls. My friend recently graduated with her Masters so we decided to celebrate at Dive Bar. Reservations were easily made via Open Table. According to their website HH is Monday - Friday 5-7. I arrived first (6pm) which prompted me to sit at the bar for a drink. When I asked the bartender about the HH specials he said they don't have HH. As I type this now there's still HH specials listed on their website. Maybe it's no longer offered but either way it should be adhered to or corrected. In the midst of me waiting for my friends I had a celebratory cake delivered to me. Once I received it I asked one of the managers if he could store it in the fridge until later (1. It was a surprise for my friend, 2. It was buttercream and needed to remain chilled). He stated he wasn't sure if he had space for it, went to check, came back & said it wouldn't be able to fit. So I placed the cake in the chair next to me hoping it didn't collapse & also hoping my friend wouldn't see it. My friends finally arrive and we move to our table. As we're moving a waiter walks by, sees the cake in the box and asks me if I would like him to put it in fridge. Of course I say yes and he takes the cake to the fridge. The same one with no space??? . Moving on we ordered wings (Buffalo & Garlic Parm), grilled oysters, steak frites, popcorn shrimp & mr krabby fries. Everything was soooo good! Although the grilled oysters are extremely over priced for the amount you receive. Our waitress was Amber who was a burst of energy, so sweet, consistently checking on us and giving drink recommendations. We also had shot of Casamigos Resposado to start with at $14 per shot (that's insane). Hookah is available for $35 via a separate check payable by cash or card. Dive Bar's food is solid & their drinks are strong. Their customer service with the exception of Amber & the waiter that realized I needed cake help leaves a bit to be desired. read more

You have to sign in with name number address and they take your temp then seat you. LOVE THIS! I asked the waitress for her drink recommendations and it was between the Sun Tan (Resposado Tequila + Aperol + Melon + Lemon + Spicy Rim) & Man of Honor (Mezcal Joven + Ginger Tea + Passion Fruit + Lime + Cucumber) I ordered both however the sun tan takes the lead it was amazing! For the love of god please, stop deep frying those god damn wings to the point where they're too hard. Highly recommend to bake then flash-fry, truly makes a huge difference, hence my four stars. This is definitely my go to spot when I'm in the mood for good drinks. I haven't been here for dinner or brunch but I have tried their empanadas which are very flaky and tasty. Their bbq wings are also very good with the perfect amount of kick to it. They have a huge variety of frozen drinks which are all so good. I usually order their mojitos which are always made perfectly and are decently priced. What I love the most about this place is the ambiance. The guy wants to make his money BUT be upfront about it from the beginning. Don't manipulate people into coming to your establishment & then hit them with something else. When I brought this up to him, he said the $250 wasn't an cover charge, it was just the amount that each person needed to spend inside LOL Also-- Bars/lounges/clubs in the city weren't even charging $250, let alone at 5AM. Sunday nights are the new Thursday nights! This place was poppin'. Walked in Sunday at 7 pm (ID and bag checked at the door) to a DJ spinning and a packed bar. We sat upstairs which had additional dining seating. Food was great and had a good mix of bar bites and meals. Service was a little slow, but probably because the waitresses were downstairs and upstairs throughout the night, wish they had someone upstairs just to monitor the tables for refills of water, etc. Dj was extremely loud as well. Though, it can appear to be busy, the attentive staff makes the stay that much more enjoyable. One of the newer bars opening in the area. Cool exterior and plenty of seating available on a Saturday afternoon. Brunch menu consists of an all-you-can-drink option that includes the entree. Didn't really want to start boozing to that extent, so settled on the Chicken & Waffles ($16) to go along with the Ocean Colada ($12). Colada comes out first, not overly sweet, moderately boozy, plus surprisingly drinkable. Food comes out a bit after - one giant waffle with four chicken tenders placed on top. Waffle is dry, helped by the syrup that was pre-poured over. Chicken meat is tender, but the breading is soft from the syrup. Overall fine flavor, just wish the syrup was something I could have added on after. Service here is fantastic as a few different waiters came by to check up on us. Would have liked the full menu to be available, though plenty of interesting options for brunch. read more

This place just opened up! It's on a very popular strip in Astoria. I haven't been able to see the inside yet due to COVID. But the outside seating will do. The staff is so friendly and gave great food advice. Not everything on the menu was available yet because they just opened but everything looked good! The pastrami quesadilla came with guacamole, pico, and some mustard. It was so so good. The drink options were great they had cute themes. Like a tiki head for a cup. It was a really cute vibe. Was there for Super Bowl Sunday. They had many screens showing the big game uninterrupted. The tv's might have been very loud for some people but they were okay for me. The hostesses were all really pleasant and the service was timely. My friends and I didn't eat much, we just shared Garlic Parmesan Wings and they were delicious. Two stars because our second experience ended so negatively. I brought people here bc the first time was fun for a friends bday party. **This is a busy and fun place to turn up but be prepared to have low expectations. To be fair, Wendy our hookah server was the sweetest and the host ( I didn't catch her name) was accommodating and professional. Unfortunately.... -Its overpriced. The price of our shots could have gotten us a bottle. Instead we paid nearly $300 for 17 shots of Hennessy (a little under 3 rounds) which is even more than what we would pay for even in the city. Who could have expected that price?!! Not their job to predict us needing a bottle but a suggestion would have been appreciated upon the second or third round and we could have gotten more for our money which was frustrating. -Hookah set up is a rip off. Last time i was here our coals were refilled. Our $32 dollar hookah died in 45 min, and when we asked for new coals (which is very normal everywhere I've been hookah lounge or not) An unfriendly woman running the hookah area told us we have to buy a $20 refill which is clearly them taking advantage and trying to make more money off us. Understanding this is an establishment rule and not the staffs doing, i asked the server for clarification. Shelistened to me but I could tell she got irritated when she said that they don't refill coals bc "they are a bar, not a hookah lounge" -__- obviously you're a bar /restaurant but you sell hookah , so what's the real reason? The real reason is your establishment wants to up charge your customers. We ordered a new refill & it fizzled immediately,so we had to ask for a replacement. Finally we get our $480 bill, and the server impatiently told us she can only split 3 cards. We asked why and she said she was too busy to run more, then rudely explained she was doing us a favor bc normally it's only two. I understand this logic but it might be helpful to explain that when you drop the check instead getting irritated with us as though we should know. I've worked in service for 10+ years and the customer is bound to not like everything 100% of the time, but the job of the employee us to act like you want them to be happy. The vegan meat balls as well as the empanada were my favorite and the fries from the steak frites were good. The steak was a little dry for mine and my partners liking and the fried shrimp was okay.
