I'm extremely disappointed by my experience at Dive Bar LIC on Saturday night. This was my second time at this location and I will never return! My group arrived for a 2:30 PM reservation, which the establishment allowed us to make, even though we later learned that they did not open until 3:00 PM. Despite that, we ultimately spent money at the establishment and were simply trying to leave safely once our ride arrived. Afterward, while waiting for our ride, it began raining heavily. We stood underneath the black awning because we were trying to stay dry. A member of the security staff approached us and told us that we "couldn't stand there" and wanted us to move out into the rain. We repeatedly explained that we had just spent money there, we were waiting quietly for our ride, and we would leave as soon as it arrived. We were not causing a disturbance or refusing to leave. He could have simply asked us to move to another area or wait somewhere else, but instead the interaction became increasingly rude and confrontational, particularly once other customers began arriving. He never calmly asked us to step to the side--his position was essentially that we needed to get out from underneath the awning and stand in the rain. When I began recording the interaction, the situation escalated. The security guard smacked my phone out of my hand, causing my phone to hit him as well. He then slapped me across the face. There is no justification for a security employee putting his hands on a woman during a situation that could have been handled verbally. Security should be there to de-escalate situations and keep patrons safe--not escalate an interaction into a physical altercation. I have attached photos of the damage to my camera screen following the incident, as well as a photo of the security employee involved. I'm sharing his photo so that other women who visit this establishment can be aware of which member of the security staff was involved in my experience. The security guard claimed that he had called the police, but no officers ever arrived while we were there. The incident ended with my phone damaged and me feeling violated and completely disrespected. What concerns me most is that this happened at the hands of someone working security for the establishment. If a customer is physically confronted by your security staff, who is responsible for that conduct? What accountability does the establishment take when its security staff puts hands on a paying customer? I came to Dive Bar LIC to celebrate my birthday and left with an experience I never should have had. I hope management takes this seriously, reviews any available security footage, investigates what happened, and addresses the conduct of the employee involved. I will not be returning to Dive Bar LIC. Women deserve to feel safe when going out, and I'm sharing my experience so other women can make an informed decision about visiting this establishment. read more

Loud music, hookah smoke inside, and the game was clearly not the focus even though they have tvs for games. Fine as a lounge, but not where I'd go to watch a big game, eat dinner or have a conversation after work. Would not eat popcorn here. read more

I came here for a birthday night out in the LIC area. We found a parking spot down the street which was great. They checked our ids and it was free to enter. We got a table and we started our night. The place was pretty small so if you want a table i would definitely recommend to come early. The dj on Saturday night was very good. They played a variety of music and gave birthday shout outs to our friend. The shirley temple was great because im pregnant lol. I sat down mostly on the bench because it is tight corners but the place was super festive. They also have an upstairs area but its small with no dj. read more

Hookah, music and good food? Yes please!! This place was a vibe on Thursday night. Service was prompt and efficient. We got our drinks and food order promptly and even got our water refilled a few times which is always a plus when you're drinking. I got the chimi sliders and the steak frites and both were delicious. My steak was cooked medium well as I asked and the slider tasted like a mini Dominican chimi. I would definitely return if I'm back in the area. read more

We ended up at Dive bar by chance. It was a group of us for ladies night Thursday. We had drinks else where and decided to have some food and hookah. So we went bar hopping. The place we went first said it was too early for hookah(they start at 10pm) but suggested we come here. Great suggestion! We were greeted and served our drinks right away. I gotta give it to them on their drinks, they are not shy with alcohol. Love it. You get your $ worth! We got what we came for, the hookah. It cost $35 and also lasted a long time. Thats a plus for us. But the best part is they accept cards. They don't put hookah on your bill but before you had to have cash or pay a fee at the ATM if you didn't have enough. Now you can pay w card for it. The food was on point. I ordered steak and it was seasoned very well and the fries were so tasty the rest ordered chicken wings, sliders and shrimp tacos and I heard zero complaints. The DJ had a nice vibe going. Also, bonus point for the complimentary popcorn that kept coming to our table. Highly recommended and definately coming back read more

I liked this place if you're looking for a sports bar/Lounge vibe. The hookah was super strong but they make you pay for a whole new hookah instead of just a refill. I noticed only light skinned girls were waitresses. They were super sweet and friendly but a little diversity goes a long way. Great service, just an observation. Happy Hour drinks weren't strong and were about $10-12. Music was on point! read more

Food was really good! We had the garlic parm wings and the spring rolls with au jus to start. The wings were perfectly crispy and had the right amount of flavor. For dinner we had the Brussels salad with shrimp, burger, steak, and chicken. All of us enjoyed our meals. Good flavor, good portions, and the food didn't take forever to come out. Drinks were really good. I'll def be back when it's hotter out to try the frozens. Super cute venue, lots of photo worthy spots throughout. Service was friendly but they did leave us unattended for long periods of time. Which imo hurts the business more than anything because we were going to order more drinks. Dj played a mix of music, which was cool too. We ended up staying after dinner and hanging at the bar to dance. read more

Cool, chilled vibes if you're looking for a happy hour spot, or a lowkey date night.. The earlier you get there the better, starts getting packed quickly by like 6-7pm. The girls who work there are all friendly and welcoming. Happy hour is definitely a vibe, the music is good, no skips. The food was pretty good, they give you a good portion. Went to dive and it was a vibe! Kae and Nancy were the absolute best and so attentive and sweet! The karaoke vibe was fire!

I came here around 9:00pm with two other ppl. We were told we couldn't sit at the bar cause the bar only had one seat. We were also told that reservations were needed but they had a table to accommodate us even though we didn't have reservations. It's an hour table limit if you only order drinks. It's an hour and half table limit if you order food and drinks. The service was horrible. Was here an hour and half. Only had one drink because the waitress never came back. The drink was good tho. 18% gratuity is already added to the bill. The music is very loud, you have to scream to talk. read more

This place was put on my radar thanks to a Yelp elite event I attended a few years ago. Second time around was with a group of girls we got few bottles & just basically hung out it was fun. Next time came w some friends for food & drinks we were seated upstairs at first it was nicer since we had the area to ourselves that didn't last too long, they have a 90 minute limit seating which I understand people tend to just hang around & not give others a chance. Drinks to start The reef was very good, decent Jaws attack more for the pics lolll Man of honor & Under the cucumber good as well & so was the Baecation good drink. Appetizers we had the Garlic parm wings nice & crispy not bad & the Italian beef spring rolls they were good. Main dish I went with the Dive smash burger it was very good, nice taste to the meat had a salad instead of fries not bad but it was drowning in sauce too much for the small salad, the burger was good but also very messy. Steak frites was very good nice piece of meat, decent fries. The best Dam chicken sandwich & yummy Brussels salad w shrimp was good as well. After dinner we headed downstairs & hung around for more drinks, it got crowded so it was a bit challenging to get drinks no additional food but we had some popcorn which was good helps keep ya kinda sober loll. Good drinks, they do sneak up on u .. service if seated better than at bar area. Music is good & very loud for such a small place.. price wise on the high side but doable drinks can get pricey if u have too many. Overall fun place for drinks, hanging out & listing to music. read more

Dive Bar is a place I found on IG and bookmarked under Happy Hour with my girls. My friend recently graduated with her Masters so we decided to celebrate at Dive Bar. Reservations were easily made via Open Table. According to their website HH is Monday - Friday 5-7. I arrived first (6pm) which prompted me to sit at the bar for a drink. When I asked the bartender about the HH specials he said they don't have HH. As I type this now there's still HH specials listed on their website. Maybe it's no longer offered but either way it should be adhered to or corrected. In the midst of me waiting for my friends I had a celebratory cake delivered to me. Once I received it I asked one of the managers if he could store it in the fridge until later (1. It was a surprise for my friend, 2. It was buttercream and needed to remain chilled). He stated he wasn't sure if he had space for it, went to check, came back & said it wouldn't be able to fit. So I placed the cake in the chair next to me hoping it didn't collapse & also hoping my friend wouldn't see it. My friends finally arrive and we move to our table. As we're moving a waiter walks by, sees the cake in the box and asks me if I would like him to put it in fridge. Of course I say yes and he takes the cake to the fridge. The same one with no space??? . Moving on we ordered wings (Buffalo & Garlic Parm), grilled oysters, steak frites, popcorn shrimp & mr krabby fries. Everything was soooo good! Although the grilled oysters are extremely over priced for the amount you receive. Our waitress was Amber who was a burst of energy, so sweet, consistently checking on us and giving drink recommendations. We also had shot of Casamigos Resposado to start with at $14 per shot (that's insane). Hookah is available for $35 via a separate check payable by cash or card. Dive Bar's food is solid & their drinks are strong. Their customer service with the exception of Amber & the waiter that realized I needed cake help leaves a bit to be desired. read more

Came to this location 2 days in a row my first night was a little off I stood in front of the place for over 10 min with no one coming to ask what we needed. A young girl came to me eventually took down my name and told me the wait would be 15 minutes. We ended up leaving unsure of if they had hookah but also we didn't really get an inviting vibe. The next day I took the chance to try them again & it was GREAT! I wasn't sure if they had hookah or not however they DO! (Mint, blue mist, watermelon mint and I think two other flavors) hookah is a separate bill from your drinks and food! Hookah girl is so sweet They do offer indoor seating upstairs (for got the minimum) and downstairs 90 min. The gentleman that greeted me at the door was so pleasant and courteous! You have to sign in with name number address and they take your temp then seat you. LOVE THIS! I asked the waitress for her drink recommendations and it was between the Sun Tan (Resposado Tequila + Aperol + Melon + Lemon + Spicy Rim) & Man of Honor (Mezcal Joven + Ginger Tea + Passion Fruit + Lime + Cucumber) I ordered both however the sun tan takes the lead it was amazing! Consistent as we ordered 4! The drink came out the same each time. Shrimp quesadilla - very cheesy, good fresh taste Grilled oysters - it was ok for what it's worth I usually don't order seafood everywhere but this was good nice presentation This is honestly a great place I can appreciate from customer service, drink consistency, food consistency ambience in a time like this I came here and appreciated my experience. *the wait was a little long however you can tell that everyone is really working together to deliver the best service read more

An upscale dive bar with literally a diving theme. I've been to this spot like 3x and it's always a good time. $35 hookah which is surprisingly good considering they use insta light (cheap coal). Drinks are good, waitresses and bartenders are friendly. Menu is typical bar food, wings, quesadillas, & tacos are all good. My only complaint is they charge an automatic 18%, don't show you the receipt and then you end up adding tip. read more

Cool spot for food & drinks, and watching a game. The place can get overpacked, which impacts service since wait staff tend to take a little while with orders. For the love of god please, stop deep frying those god damn wings to the point where they're too hard. Highly recommend to bake then flash-fry, truly makes a huge difference, hence my four stars. This is definitely my go to spot when I'm in the mood for good drinks. I haven't been here for dinner or brunch but I have tried their empanadas which are very flaky and tasty. Their bbq wings are also very good with the perfect amount of kick to it. They have a huge variety of frozen drinks which are all so good. I usually order their mojitos which are always made perfectly and are decently priced. What I love the most about this place is the ambiance. Their first floor is not that big but I always manage to find a spot at the bar. All the bartenders are always super attentive and friendly. Even security at the door is welcoming. There is usually a DJ so the music is always good. read more

For months I had seen the famous "shark" drink popping up on my timelines and this past weekend I finally decided to hit Dive Bar LIC for the Sunday football slate. Everything about this place is what you want for a great time - music, drinks, food, TVs and just an overall lively, vibrant and fun environment. The drinks are well balanced and thoughtfully created. I tried 3 of their offerings and enjoyed them all - Jaws Attack, Cruise & Bruise, and Man of Honor. Food wise we sampled a handful of items - BBQ Wings, Italian Beef Spring Rolls, Shrimp Tacos and the Spinach Salad with Catfish. Very delicious, fresh and very affordable considering the location and quality. read more

Would spend my money else where. Owner of Dive Bar was charging $250 per person on NYE to get in after midnight (it was 5:30AM to be exact) after he personally replied to my DM's & said there was no cover to get inside. That's fine. The guy wants to make his money BUT be upfront about it from the beginning. Don't manipulate people into coming to your establishment & then hit them with something else. When I brought this up to him, he said the $250 wasn't an cover charge, it was just the amount that each person needed to spend inside LOL Also-- Bars/lounges/clubs in the city weren't even charging $250, let alone at 5AM. Girls night out . Dive Bar was our first stop for drinks. And some hookah. We had to wait about 20 mins which was fine . We sat outside. The outdoor seating was cool. Because the outside of the restaurant is bold and eye catching . We ordered the disco fries to much on and I had a frozen drink. The offer 2 sizes . The drinks are strong. I enjoyed it. The only thing I didn't like was being rushed out and the check being dropped because they had to close by 12 . The lady literally grabbed the hookah from off the table while we were smoking it . I feel like we should have came for brunch instead. Would I go back ? Yes I want to try brunch and I really did enjoy the drinks Should you ? Yes , but go early so you can fully enjoy the experience. read more

Just off the back, great aesthetics! It is such a lowkey location that surprises you with a new age energy upon entry. It's a bit small in size but definitely big on impact. Had the feels of a major city styled bar but mixed with the upswing of a lounge that, on the right occasion, has the potential of giving out club like vibes. Though, it can appear to be busy, the attentive staff makes the stay that much more enjoyable. Hopefully with the summer approaching, the outdoor seating will be just as cool as the interior. read more

Sunday nights are the new Thursday nights! This place was poppin'. Walked in Sunday at 7 pm (ID and bag checked at the door) to a DJ spinning and a packed bar. We sat upstairs which had additional dining seating. Food was great and had a good mix of bar bites and meals. Service was a little slow, but probably because the waitresses were downstairs and upstairs throughout the night, wish they had someone upstairs just to monitor the tables for refills of water, etc. Dj was extremely loud as well. One of the newer bars opening in the area. Cool exterior and plenty of seating available on a Saturday afternoon. Brunch menu consists of an all-you-can-drink option that includes the entree. Didn't really want to start boozing to that extent, so settled on the Chicken & Waffles ($16) to go along with the Ocean Colada ($12). Colada comes out first, not overly sweet, moderately boozy, plus surprisingly drinkable. Food comes out a bit after - one giant waffle with four chicken tenders placed on top. Waffle is dry, helped by the syrup that was pre-poured over. Chicken meat is tender, but the breading is soft from the syrup. Overall fine flavor, just wish the syrup was something I could have added on after. Service here is fantastic as a few different waiters came by to check up on us. Would have liked the full menu to be available, though plenty of interesting options for brunch. read more

Two stars because our second experience ended so negatively. I brought people here bc the first time was fun for a friends bday party. **This is a busy and fun place to turn up but be prepared to have low expectations. To be fair, Wendy our hookah server was the sweetest and the host ( I didn't catch her name) was accommodating and professional. Unfortunately.... -Its overpriced. The price of our shots could have gotten us a bottle. Instead we paid nearly $300 for 17 shots of Hennessy (a little under 3 rounds) which is even more than what we would pay for even in the city. Who could have expected that price?!! Not their job to predict us needing a bottle but a suggestion would have been appreciated upon the second or third round and we could have gotten more for our money which was frustrating. -Hookah set up is a rip off. Last time i was here our coals were refilled. Our $32 dollar hookah died in 45 min, and when we asked for new coals (which is very normal everywhere I've been hookah lounge or not) An unfriendly woman running the hookah area told us we have to buy a $20 refill which is clearly them taking advantage and trying to make more money off us. Understanding this is an establishment rule and not the staffs doing, i asked the server for clarification. Shelistened to me but I could tell she got irritated when she said that they don't refill coals bc "they are a bar, not a hookah lounge" -__- obviously you're a bar /restaurant but you sell hookah , so what's the real reason? The real reason is your establishment wants to up charge your customers. We ordered a new refill & it fizzled immediately,so we had to ask for a replacement. Finally we get our $480 bill, and the server impatiently told us she can only split 3 cards. We asked why and she said she was too busy to run more, then rudely explained she was doing us a favor bc normally it's only two. I understand this logic but it might be helpful to explain that when you drop the check instead getting irritated with us as though we should know. I've worked in service for 10+ years and the customer is bound to not like everything 100% of the time, but the job of the employee us to act like you want them to be happy. All this is fine bc none of us will be coming back, what started out as a promising experience fizzled out just like the hookah refill. Disappointing!! read more
