Mofongo with chicharron. Lawd, just LOOK at it
    Quandra T.

Five stars for having the sweetest waitress ever and the most scrumptious mofongo I've ever had in my life. Now I'm not saying I'm ANY kind of mofongo expert here; I've only had the dish a handful of times and discovered that I'm quite partial to it, despite not being a fan of plantains. But the experience I had at THIS place... I had Abba on my Yelp list for awhile and realized it's in the neighborhood of my salsa studio. Stopped by this past Friday night and while it was busy, we were easily seated. Our waitress was SO sweet and friendly, warning me of the strength of their alcoholic beverages (WARNING: they're tasty but POTENT), offering to bring extra dishes for sharing, giving great suggestions. My friends opted for burgers, but at this authentic Latin place, I was determined to have an authentic Latin dish. I ordered the mofongo with chicharron, and it came out VERY quickly (from what I've experienced in the past, it usually takes a lil minute to prepare). First of all, it was BEAUTIFULLY plated, aesthetically-pleasing-to-the-MAX, so I was salivating the moment she placed it in front of me. From the first BITE, I'm sure my face reflected some kind of nirvanic ascension. It was DELICIOUS, the pork belly wonderfully crispy yet juicy, and the unique SAUCE it's coated in blew my tastebuds away. Flavor freaking central. Gladly worth the $20 it cost. Only thing to watch out for here; it seems after 11pm the DJ turns the volume up FULL BLAST in here, so the vibe goes from...lit Friday night hotspot to JUMPIN CLUB SCENE REALY QUICK. Nobody was dancing (and we kind of wished there were some salseros up in there because we would have loved to get some practice in), but at that point, there was absolutely NO way you could hear anyone at the table speak anymore or have a conversation anymore, so we decided to take our leave, with my precious mofongo leftovers in tow.

The food is delicious, we.had empanada (2 for $6) during happy hour, nice size amd very tasty. I had a mofongo w shrimp as the main. Delicious, fresh,.tasty, flavorful. The drinks during happy hour were a decent size, my frozen margarita was not frozen so that was a bit disappointing. The dessert of cornbread a la mode is so yummy, I would return just for that dessert. The ladies who work here provide a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. I liked the music, vibe, we arrived right when they opened. I did not like that they had hookah, and the smoke was bothersome. I am not a smoker, I went there for food, drinks, music & all was nice until the hookah smoking started. I probably would return early and leave early.

The food was good, I really enjoy the Chimi and the sauce of the mofongo. During our visit the police showed up so that kind of killed the vibe. The hookah was expensive and not so great. It was okay however I will not be returning to this establishment.

A cool Latín bar & grill with great music. The waitress was friendly, we all had the Churrasco for our dinner which was good & juicy. We also had lemon pepper wings the wings were crispy which I liked but needed more seasoning. The chicharrón was good it came with fried yuca & tostones. The drinks were good as ℓℓ. If you like hookah they also have hookah.

We had been to a few spots, and this would be the nightcap location. The bar itself is cute , nice open air flowing indoors . The bartender wears too many hats (waitress, hookah, etc) which slows the service for the bar patrons. We had two beef pastellios and they were good. There isn't much vibes here for me to come back .

    Wings with hair

Got a pickup order from here. I found two huge disgusting clumps of hair in my wings. Unfortunately, the rest of my meal was cooked in the same oil that fried this hair. I should have known not to eat the food when the bones in the wings were all broken. They were clearly just sitting at the bottom of their dirty freezer for who knows how long. Update: It's been about 30 minutes since eating one of the wings and I'm having terrible stomach cramps. The chicken had to have been rancid. Update a day later: I got food poisoning but am feeling better now :/

Came in as a group of 4, we were out at a table but were only given 2 seats because they were waiting for a party to leave so we can get their table (i don't understand why they didn't give us 4 chairs at our table while we waited, but whatever). I ordered a burger which came with fries it was really good and juicy i liked the sauce it came with. My boyfriend and friends got the chicken quesadilla. I tried it and it was extremely tasty and stuffed. We ordered a hookah which was $35 and we are able to add it to your bill. One down side is they only have mint flavor. We also got passion fruit frozen margaritas which were pretty strong. The waitress had an attitude that's why i took off one star. Tip is automatically included in the bill. The music is really good. Would i come back? Yes. Worth the money? Yes

Downstairs, it's a lot tighter, with a DJ, dance floor, lounge seating area, and a much more packed and busy atmosphere on the weekends. I like ping ponging between both vibes when I'm with friends. Admittedly I've found the music both times to be too experimental for me. Confessing that makes me feel like an old person shaking my fist or at least shaking my head, misunderstanding what makes the youth tick. But I had no trouble twirling around the dance floor to this weird experimental music after throwing back a few tequila sodas upstairs. A few times while here my friends have split up into the group that wants to go downstairs to dance and the group that wants to stay upstairs and chill. It's relatively easy to navigate between both vibes, which I enjoy about this spot very much.

When we saw "Water Tower" on the elevator we decided to press it. SO GLAD WE DID. We landed at the Water Tower and walked into a fairly empty space decorated with art all the way to the ceiling, filled with natural light coming in and the views of the skyline were out of this world. We had to try their drinks of course to enjoy with the incredible view. Though the drinks are $21 and served in a plastic cup that evening, I was NOT expecting my drink to be this insanely delicious. I ordered the inferno Paloma which they infuse themselves with- and it was true perfection. By the way, each bar has their own menu which is pretty awesome and makes it even more fun. Also, Axel is the most incredible bartender and we absolutely loved his creations. Later that night we ordered a custom mandarin margarita, with a spicy twist, and WOW. He's truly talented and absolutely made us some awesome drinks that we can't stop talking about. Sunset with a view and a spicy mezcal drink? Yes and YES. We had this place all to ourselves and can't wait to be back. Friday nights they have DJ nights and you can also book the Water Tower for your own private events which is pretty cool!

I discovered Kokomo because I knew I wanted our wedding celebration to be in Williamsburg -- a neighborhood that holds so many memories for me growing up in the Bronx and exploring the city as a kid. We flew in from Los Angeles and truly made it a full wedding week experience. I planned the wedding myself, so I had been communicating with Joel for months leading up to the event. We reserved the Champagne Room, which felt like its own beautiful oasis. As a Jamaican-American woman, it meant so much to know my disabled mother would feel culturally comfortable, welcomed, and safe in the space and with the food. From the moment we arrived, the staff was warm, attentive, and calming. Our server especially helped ease my nerves while we were finalizing seating and guest details, and after that, I genuinely did not have to worry about a thing. And the food? Absolutely incredible. Truly perfection. As a vegan, it meant so much to fully enjoy every part of my wedding meal without compromise. The rum punch was fantastic, our guests loved the open bar package, and the entire evening flowed so seamlessly. The aesthetic is pure island luxury -- elevated, warm, vibrant, and beautiful. The communication from the owners and management team was excellent throughout the entire process, and I even had the chance to finally meet Joel at the end of the night after months of planning together, which was such a lovely touch. I was also able to personally thank the chefs. We even accidentally left my bouquet behind, and the team kindly helped us retrieve it the next day. Kokomo NYC is officially a staple in our family now. I already know we will celebrate future milestones there and visit often whenever we are back in New York. It makes me proud to support a Black Caribbean-owned business that creates such meaningful experiences with so much care and excellence. I truly cannot imagine our wedding without Kokomo, and I'm so grateful they were part of our story. : @lensofher

It is too bad Yelp doesn't allow half stars as I would honestly put this one at a 3.5 and am rounding up. After spending $76 a person, we were still hungry, whereas that amount would have been enough to feed two average women at another good restaurant. But if you go with an expense account or trust fund baby, definitely get the scallops and the yellowtail pastrami because those two items will blow your mind. Our waitress pointed these two out to us and we're grateful for her guidance because it was spot on. Paying for bread at a Solomonov joint is odd. No dessert menu is odder.
