$8 Happy Happy Hour
Geraldine E.

I came here for happy hour at it was fun. Happy hour is 4pm-7pm Monday to Friday. They offer $8 happy appetizers and drinks. They even have a rooftop open only on weekends. For cocktails Mamasushi Punch 9/10 Food Chicken Poppers 10/10 Calamari 6/10 Popcorn Shrimp 8/10 Philly cheesesteak Egg Rolls 7/10 the sauce was good the meat could've been seasoned more. I loved the upscale and clean aesthetic s. They had a rooftop available on the weekends. The customer service was on point.

A plated dish includes a breaded, fried item topped with microgreens and bright orange fish roe, surrounded by a creamy sauce with green and brown drizzles. The dish is presented on a black plate, with a fork and a large empty plate nearby, on a textured table surface. The setting appears to be a restaurant or outdoor dining area.

The rooftop is where it's at! Besides the great drinks and fusion sushi rolls, the rooftop is very relaxing and had a good vibe for the summer. The wait staff; very attentive and quick with everything because they have a station on the rooftop which makes service efficient. They have really good happy hour as well and I was able to get most of my items off that menu, score!

Inside - Four people are seated at a dining table in a restaurant, with a large, colorful mural behind them depicting a Japanese pagoda, a bridge over a river, green hills, and trees, including a palm tree. The mural has warm sunset tones and lush scenery. The table has glasses, menus, and other dining items. The individuals appear to be engaged in conversation or waiting.

My family and I came here for m nephew's JHS graduation. My nephew loves sushi and most of my family loves any dish with rice so this was the perfect fusion. Ive been to the Dyckman and Washington Heights location many years ago so I knew it was going to be good. We arrived a little late with notice and our` table was ready. The waiter came shortly and took our full orders and his device crashed. :-( he had to take our whole party of 9 orders again. This did cause a delay in food arrival but it's okay. My and Sister and I ordered frozen margaritas but the machine was unfortunately not working but no fear! I ended up getting a yummy Piña Colada like my best friend had. The rest of drinks and food came out shortly. The ambiance was amazing. I noticed that you could order hookah which I love but my baby was at the table lol. Mid way through our meal, the lights turned colorful and the restaurant became a vibe. The food was so yummy. My son had the 12oz NY strip medium well and it tasted do good! You can taste the yumminess of the grill. It was perfect. Juicy and tasty. The French fries were good and crispy. My mom got the Seared Salmon. I didn't get to try it for myself but she said it was delicious. It came with a side of hibachi style vegetables which consisted of zucchini, carrots & onions. My brother had the Chicken Teriyaki which he said was okay. My Stepdad had the Shrimp Bento Box and My nephew, the graduate had a Carajito Chicken Panko with a Shrimp Tempura on the side. He said it was good. And finally Me and My Bestfriend @Pamdeolall understood the assignment lol and both had a plate of an El Campesino roll along with a Traditional California Roll. The California was good as usual and El campesino was delicious too. It was queso de frier, avocado, fried salami in a roll with sweet plantain on top which was amazing. The only ask I would say is that the roll could've been warm. I know it's sushi but when eating those elements like the sweet plantain and cheese, I love them to be warm. All in all, I would return and I would definitely recommend :-)

This place was amazing! Should out to Vladimir and Anthony for being such great servers. The food was delicious and the drinks were hands down tasty and strong. The music wasn't too loud that you could talk over. Definitely a place to check out.

Dominican sushi platter - A large, round wooden platter contains an assortment of sushi rolls, some topped with sauces, garnishes, and chopped vegetables. The platter is set on a dark, reflective table, with a glass of water, chopsticks, and other dining items visible nearby. The sushi includes different types of rolls with various ingredients and presentation styles, arranged in a decorative manner.

One of their new locaations located in Williamsburg. Ive been to other locations and always enjoy this place. Mamasushi brings a Japanese and Dominican fusion to sushi. We ordered a chef special platter that had many good options. They also offer other options and drinks. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Will be coming back soon.

Sometimes a place is a hit or miss. On this particular visit it was a miss. We dined up stairs on the roof top.( girls night just 3 of us) Saturday evening; finally the weather was decent after this recent heat wave. The decor through out the place is nice. The service has potential. The guy helping us was nice but overwhelmed and the other staff didnt come upstairs until much later to assist him. We ordered cocktails and it took 1 hr to come. They claimed the system was down . But tables that were seated after us received their drink orders. We requested to speak to the manager we were told the person was busy. The manager never came tbh I dont think one was present. The food also took a long time to come and it came before we got utensils or dipping sauce. We ordered the : grilled octopus sushi 6/10 Fried pork sushi 6/10 Crab cakes 8/10 ( it was just cold) Philly cheese steak egg rolls 8/10 (also needed to be hotter) Lollipop lamb chops 7/10 ( a bit tough and cooked more then we requested) Yucca fries 10/10( served at the right temp and not greasy) My cocktail was red sangria it tasted like fruit punch with apples cut up in it 3/10 For desert we got the chocolate cake with ice cream 5/10 I would want to come back maybe in the week to try out happy hour and see how they do. But for a first impression it was just ehh... much to be desired.

Tuna Tartar - A dish featuring tuna tartare topped with avocado, diced vegetables, and black sesame seeds, presented on a wooden plate. Surrounding the tartare are crispy plantain chips and a small garnish of shredded vegetables. A glass of water is visible in the background, indicating a dining setting.

I hadn't been here in years since the only ones I had been to was the one uptown. However, I was excited to see it near my house! We went for dinner on a Sunday night. The food was good the quality from the fake crab, wassabi and ginger not so much. I would suggest the quality to be better since the prices are expensive. The service was good the waiter was attentive. The drinks were pricey as well. The ambiance was okay. I had the Kani Salad aside from the fake crab I found it to be good. We had the tuna tartare which was delicious and tried three of their specialty rolls- el campesino, mar y tierra, and el fuerte. I will be back but not too soon since the prices were high.

A chocolate birthday cake decorated with strawberries, mint leaves, and chocolate curls is placed on a white board on a table. Four lit candles are on top of the cake. Two people, a man and a woman, are sitting behind the cake, smiling and celebrating. The setting appears to be outdoors at night, with other people and buildings visible in the background.

We went to the Brooklyn location on Friday, August 8th to celebrate my daughter Octavia's birthday. We went to the rooftop and was greeted by Jay. He gave us exceptional service all night long. We went during Happy Hour. The food selection was amazing. EVERYTHING we ate was top notch. We had calamari, sushi, cheese steak egg rolls, wonton tacos, dumplings, and fried snapper. OMG, we could not stop eating. The food was delicious. Drinks were on point. We also met the owner who greeted us with a smile and took the time to talk to us. Their media guy was also cool as hell. This is truly an awesome spot to try. Guess what, its AFFORDABLE!!!

Food coloring dyed "wasabi" and "ginger" - A wooden plate holds a serving of sushi topped with shredded vegetables, accompanied by pickled ginger and a dollop of wasabi. In the background, a bowl of dipping sauce with chopsticks resting on the side is visible. The setting appears to be a Japanese fusion restaurant with a dark tabletop.

I wholeheartedly wish leaving zero stars was an option. From the tacky iPad menus, to the immediate delivery of spicy mayo (definitely intentioned to hide the awful taste of the food), to the ridiculous pricing, to the blaring party music, to the impressively bad service, to the world's saltiest miso soup, MamaSushi is hands down the worst "sushi" (it's not) restaurant I've step foot in in my life. I promise I mean no disrespect to the decent people who run the business, but the public deserves to know they are paying nearly Sugarfish prices for ginger and wasabi artificially dyed to look like the attached photo. Our waiter did notice we were disappointed and came up to ask what we didn't like--that deserves the one star this review reflects.

However, I was quickly proven wrong. Not only was the service topnotch, but the drinks were surprisingly delicious and refreshing. There's a ton of options which is also surprising considering the tap only format. Upon further reflection of how tiny the bar is, it makes sense why they would go this route. It would be challenging for one person let alone two to be behind that bar shaking and stirring. I also heard there's a back area with more seating but we didn't explore much further than the front bar stool seating. Seems like a cool spot for happy hour or late night drinks and I would definitely return!

We were lucky to grab 2 seats at the bar as the rest of the seating actually seemed a bit cramped and uninviting. They advertise a heated back patio but I don't think the heat was on and no one was there, which is a bummer. Regardless, the theme is nice with everything attributable to their "laboratory" ambience. Everything is served in beakers or similar glasses. It can get a bit crowded sitting at the bar as that's where everyone orders drinks but otherwise this was quite enjoyable. Will definitely keep on the list for HH.
