Celebrated two friends birthday at Aura Cocina. The place looks like an abandoned warehouse from the outside but the restaurant is actually beautiful. There's a stage for live music and it creates a vibe to dance. The service was excellent, everyone was very attentive. Unfortunately, the food was very mediocre. I don't really enjoy Latin Asian fusion places because they never get the sushi right. The lo mein tasted like old oil, I literally had one bite. The salmon was actually not bad because it was a generous piece covered in teriyaki sauce. The margaritas were excellent! I would return to have drinks and listen to the live bands!

I had not been here in a few years and I had totally forgot about here. Glad they survived the pandemic. The food here is well presented and good! The drinks also are varied, creative and tasty as well. Our 2 servers were so friendly and very attentive and we had such a good time with the music in the background and the settings. I believe they both had "jose" in their names. I drank a bit there so I hope I did jot forget, but I definitely will not forget their friendliness and welcoming nature. Need to return during the summer to go to the "rooftop" next to restaurant!!!

Went to Aura for my sister in law birthday bunch.. what a dope place.. The atmosphere and decor in Aura was great and inviting. A lil sad the location seems secluded in Brooklyn, where people may miss it. Place space is nicely set up, eating areas and chill spot to watch the huge tv or smoke hookah with your group.. They were playing and had a DJ, I hate when that doesn't the music at a restaurant is super loud, but this place music level was good. Loud enough to hear , but not loud where you can't have a conversation with your people. The waiter was great and on top of his service.. As for the food, it was great. We ordered all four appetizer for the bunch section. Bunch mains were on point. Drinks were pretty and tasty. We spent around 400 for 6, so price so also great. Price also included several drinks..

I came here for a friend's birthday dinner and was honestly very disappointed. The restaurant decor is aesthetically very pretty and the live musical is a great touch. However, when it comes down to the service, food quality and price, I will not be returning. Our server needed to be called over to take our food orders, our drink orders and we had to keep looking for her to order more drinks. She was not attentive of our table at all despite being a table of 9. The fire alarm went off while we waited for our food. It went off for several minutes which was extremely annoying and at no point did anyone from the staff apologize to the tables or offer any type of item to make up for the annoyance. As appetizers we ordered their calamari and guacamole. They both had good flavor but the portion size was extremely small. As my entree I ordered their Del Mar sushi was was shrimp tempura with slices of sweet plantain on top for $16. When I first got my order, I noticed the plantain on top was raw so I had to return it. Once I received it again, I tried the sushi and the plantain was not sweet and it was cold. The sushi rice was a bit hard as if it was also raw and the rolls were smothered in spicy Mayo which was all I tasted every time I took a bite. The drinks weren't bad, I got the lychee martini which was actually quite good but the experience overall was not good. When we got the bill, there was a 20% gratuity already included plus 4% credit card processing fee. It hurt to pay so much tip for service that wasn't good and not worth the 20%. Would only recommend if you want to stop in for an expensive drink and listen to their fabulous live music.

The live music and the open space really make the ambiance stand out. The band that performed was very nice and even entertained some children and allowed them to play some instruments which was very adorable. I liked the many seating options, especially the couches where we sat in the back. However, the food did not match the amazing vibes. We ordered the candied clothesline bacon, togarashi tuna roll, jumbo lump crab guacamole, and a salad. The roll tasted a little off, I think it was the quality of the fish or the rice, I couldn't really tell. I normally love bacon, but it was a little too greasy and I had to wrap it in the lettuce from the salad to finish it. My favorite was the guacamole. I also want to point out that there were flies and gnats that kept flying around our food. I really dislike bugs, so it wasn't a fun experience having to constantly swat them away. I think this was more due to the weather than sanitary reasons. Overall, I'd give it a 3.5. I would come back just for the live band and open space.

What a place... a blend of Cuban Asian restaurant with live music. It's quite confusing to find the spot pero it's so with it!! Happy hour till 8 pm, drinks were 9$ and delish. Jose was our server, he was attentive and very helpful with making decisions regarding meals. We will be coming down again..

I have to say that this restaurant really gave Cartagena vibes. The live music, the location. All of it was just on point. The food was excellent as well. The octopus the sushi were really tasty. It's a great place to grab drinks and just look through the appetizer menu and explore. The service was also really great.

The place is absolutely beautiful inside although it was kind of difficult to find. The food was sooo good. And the servers were super nice. They made my food and drink we love !

The WORST brunch I've ever been to. Entrance is hidden on the side of a building, hard to find. Promoted as a party brunch from 12-6, the DJ & hookah don't start till 2. DJ was obscenely loud, waitress had to ask them to lower the volume so she can take orders. At 4:00 they had a band arriving and a $25 cover. Our reservation was at 2pm, they wanted us to pay to stay inside the venue! I've never heard or experienced this before, the promoter was obnoxious & unprofessional. The drinks were just ok, not worth $18 Bottomless brunch consist of only mimosas served in a plastic cup. Food options were limited, no substitutions, we were unable to order sunny side up eggs because the kitchen was busy - they only had scramble. $35 for hookah, $20 for refill

We found this Brooklyn Gem on Instagram and I immediately knew I wanted to celebrate my birthday here. We were greeted by very pleasant and welcoming hostesses, and each waiter that came to our table was attentive and insightful when we asked for recommendations. The Guava Island was the hit drink of the night. The guava and Cognac were a smooth blend. The 2nd favorite was the El Coco, which is a Coquito that they set on fire for you. It was strong but very tasty. The oxtail dumplings could have been seasoned better and the sauce it came with was very salty. The Caja China pork belly with ginger Plum sauce was scrumptious! The perfect crisp on the skin with the tenderness of the meat came together amazingly with the sauce. The live music and band at 7:30 was a hit. Such a perfect mood-setter for the evening. They even gave me a shout-out for my birthday. The waiters brought my cake out with sparklers and a big sign wishing me happy birthday. For a party of 13, I couldn't have asked for a better evening. They went above and beyond for me and my party.

Tucked away in Williamsburg this place is cute with good food and good drinks. We had the miso salmon with some appetizers. The staff is friendly and thoughtful. Late night turns into a space where you can enjoy good live music and dance. Come with friends on a date not recommended with kids though. Had a good time. Be warned it's pricey.

Great food, weird dreary location . The brunch here is really good and the service and staff are great as well. The food comes out warm and not piping hot and the drinks aren't strong. The biggest concern I have for this place is the location. It's in a desolate part of Bushwick/ Williamsburg. The entrance was very tricky to find and there is a draft in the restaurant since it's a large warehouse space made into a restaurant.

Great music, drinks, and service. Fun salsa night that seems to not be fully discovered yet. Can't wait to come back!

Is hookah available during Saturday brunch?

    I hope not

I see someone posted a receipt where they were charged $20 per person for sitting at a table. What is a table fee? If I want to go tomorrow night for drinks and bites, will we be charged $40 just for sitting?

Hi Rich, thank you I appreciate the quick response. I must edit this question in order to ask you the following: if I make a reservation do we still have the option to happy hour? Also as far as dress code is it more on the formal side or casual?

Hello! Thank you for reaching out! Yes, we do have happy hour. It is every Wed - Fri from 5pm until 7pm. If you need anything else at all do not hesitate to reach out! Thank you.

However, I was quickly proven wrong. Not only was the service topnotch, but the drinks were surprisingly delicious and refreshing. There's a ton of options which is also surprising considering the tap only format. Upon further reflection of how tiny the bar is, it makes sense why they would go this route. It would be challenging for one person let alone two to be behind that bar shaking and stirring. I also heard there's a back area with more seating but we didn't explore much further than the front bar stool seating. We were lucky to grab 2 seats at the bar as the rest of the seating actually seemed a bit cramped and uninviting. They advertise a heated back patio but I don't think the heat was on and no one was there, which is a bummer. Regardless, the theme is nice with everything attributable to their "laboratory" ambience. Everything is served in beakers or similar glasses. It can get a bit crowded sitting at the bar as that's where everyone orders drinks but otherwise this was quite enjoyable. Will definitely keep on the list for HH.
