Had this place on my list for so long, not sure what was the hold up but I finally visited with a friend Thursday night. We got there around 7:30pm and it was pretty empty. I think there was only one other party in there. It's a small and cozy spot with beautiful and modern decor. Prices are reasonable too and match the portion sizes. The owner Hollis greeted and seated us. She was also our server/bartender. She was very pleasant and welcoming and talked and joked with us all night. She said on Thursdays they have all day happy hour: $8 Long Islands and margaritas +2 for flavors, $1.50 wings and oysters, $4 beer, and $8 wine). They also have $20 hookah and beer and wine/shots combo specials. Drinks: I had the passion fruit and guava margaritas and my friend had the Long Island. We both enjoyed our drinks and got 3 rounds a piece. The passion fruit flavor is much better than the guava tho, so I switched back. Food: we had the wings and oysters to start. The wings were really good and came with a house special sauce. The oysters were nice and fresh. For entrees with both had the oxtail fried rice. I originally ordered the chicken, but was given oxtail instead, but I chose to keep it. The oxtail was seasoned and tender and the rice was nice and flavorful. The authentic Guyanese and Caribbean cuisine was top notch. They had the 90's R&B playing, so we were all in the mix. They have great bar and waitress service with a great menu of food. The vibe was all that and the food incredible. Can't wait for their brunch. read more

BleuFin is a dope Resturant to host an entire brunch party, it's cozy but spacious. The location in Bushwick Brooklyn is a go too! Food: the food is really good especially the oxtail roll, and shrimp cocktail. The calamari is okay it's a very small portion. The oxtail Rasta pasta was really good, the fried shrimp cocktail is so tasty, and the chicken fried rice was well seasoned with flavor. Service: the service is a little slow for a big birthday party. I would recommend more staff for assistance. Our waitress LaLa however made sure we were good and ensure our needs were met. The patron pitchers OMG are really good and strong! Ambiance: the vibez is amazing especially with a live DJ playing the latest. The set up was nice for the brunch party. The Resturant is open view to see your food cooking. They do have hookah which is made really good. My overall is a 4.8/5 due to the service and slowness of the kitchen. read more

The service here is horrible! The place looks pretty with their grass walls and murals but that means nothing when the service is bad. We were seated without menus. I had to go find them. He told us the food would take a while to come out because they're transitioning from lunch to dinner. I'm confused because yelp and their website said they open at 5 pm and it was 6 pm.... they're open for lunch??? Happy hour is from 5-7. How do you have no food prepared? I ordered oysters and after 30 minutes, I cancelled the order. We got the appetizer (oxtail egg rolls) at 6:45 pm. There was a couple there when we walked in. They'd only received calamari a couple of minutes before we got the egg rolls. We asked for the check at 6:59 pm. She asked what we ordered, we told her. I came here for New York City Restaurant Week which offered a $45 three course meal appetizer, entrée, dessert . bang bang shrimp 4/5 Crabcakes 5/5 Seafood linguini 4.3/5 Lobster Rasta Pasta 4.3/5 Frozen Margarita 5/5 Red velvet cupcake Chocolate cupcake The shrimp was delicious, but it was a little salty. The neighborhood has quite a few colorful characters around. So when parking lock your doors. Lol The inside of the restaurant very nice decor. Stylish . Tik tok ready for photos. The staff were underwhelming with the interactions not very friendly. The bartender he seemed cool. I found out about them through the nyc restaurant week deal. It was a Thursday night I came in solo. A dj was playing good tunes old skool r and b, hip hop, soca and reggae nice vibes. You can tell they are still making a name for thierselves. It was 3 courses for the price 18% gratuity included . I had the seafood egg roll. It was full of grease. The lobster pasta pasta was actually decent. And a red velvet cake slice I believed sourced else where. Very moist and tasty. The cocktails were good and not overpriced. Hooked on flavor straight out of Guyana!! I saw a Black Woman Owned Guyanese Seafood restaurant and you guys know I had to try!! While I did stick to the more Caribbean side of the menu... I will have to come back and test out some of those seafood boils because they were looking A1 ‍First up, I gotta say that the service was amazing. I love when the owner in house to make sure everything comes out great. Starting with drinks that packed a punch. The blue Mojito was by far my favorite drink but I loved the use of tropical flavors especially in the Tamarind Mocktail. It was my first time trying Oxtail Egg Rolls and I was not disappointed and the Jerk Wings had the perfect amount of spice. I will say that although I loved the Mac and Cheese itself, I was less than thrilled to see fake lobster inside especially at that price point but that was really the only thing I had a problem with and it still tasted great. I discovered this place during Covid. The vibes was always amazing. Very intimate setting. I would go alone often and always wouldn't feel that way. The staff were always very welcoming. One day when I went alone a few people were playing games and the owner Hollis told me to join in on the fun. I often received free shots. The food is always great and very flavorful never disappointed. The seafood boil was so good I was licking the pannn lol. The drinks are always a hit and get the job done. First, this place is not associated with the blue fin in the city (in which I love). I met the owner, short black woman with blonde hair who I had a slight bad encounter with after reserving a table at 4pm on a Thursday for them to open, close to 5pm. We put the matter behind us to later being seated and she comes out of the kitchen 45 min later to tell 3/5 of us that she doesn't have oxtail and what else do we want as if we were in the wrong. Very disrespectful woman, and it was really sad to see an older gentleman laughing and saying, "ma calm down they are customers". We didn't have a chance to drink being as the bar needed ice, but the bartender/ waitress was really nice and she also informed us that the owner will eventually ask for cash app or Zelle and keep additional tips on top of the added gratuity, so it's best we pay cash after. The food was so good... the crab cakes... I'll be dreaming about and the sauce that comes with is such a good pairing. Fried fish sandwich was amazing and so were the plantain fries. I needed a pan of Rasta Pasta. I had it a few weeks ago at a repass and it was delicious. I just knew I needed to have it for a party. I meant to get some pictures. I thought that there would be some leftover. It was so good that the pan was finished. I'm glad that I got some before the guest ate it all. OAN, the repass was here. The service was awesome. Looked for a local place in BK came across this place. It's small and intimate but has a vibey feel. There was a DJ in the corner playing all the good chunes! My waiter was exceptional. I liked her because she wanted to get a feel of who her customers were to recommend the best foods and drinks for them. I got the Guyanese special, Pepper Pot! It was my first time trying it and it didn't disappoint. The sugar and cinnamon stood out a lot in the dish. The oxtails were cooked well falling off of the bone! My friend got the steak and egg. This place is nice inside but the food was blah. A lot of things weren't on the menu, there was one waiter (lady with blond hair), she was nice but over whelmed by herself. On two occasions my friends had to send back their food because it was frozen inside. This place can have potential but it's under staffed and pretty dead. The fried shark was the only thing ordered that was tasty. The chicken was fried too dry, the french toast was stale, salt fish was okay. Home fries, were just boiled potatoes mixed with onions and seasonings. Drinks: Water for the table were in glasses that were dirty with lipstick stains. Johnie walker and ginger ale, tasted like something other than Johnie Walker was in there. Rum punch: tasted more like watermelon fruit punch mixed with alcohol. Hookah: flavors were basic options to choose from. We ordered gummy worm flavor and ended up switching because it tasted funny. We ended up changing the flavor and still could not smoke it because it tasted funny. After inspection the funny taste was because they did not clean the base of the hookah bottle. You could taste the ''moss' or mold that was in the bottom of the bottle. The workers appeared to be unbothered. Only plus is that they credited our bill for the hookah. This place was recommended to me by a close friend and i must say it wasn't disappointing. I went on Aug 24th for my birthday and they are located at the corner of St. Marks and Nostrand in Crown Heights. Inside is small but my friends and I sat down wuick as there is a hostess in the front. Someone quickly came over to offer water n drinks. I ordered the mimosas pitcher and it was great. Ive then proceeded to order a jerk salmon and so did my other friend and another order of a seafood broil. My friend also order a taco but it never came so for that is the reason for giving 4 stars. If that could've been fixed 5 . They played really good music that keeps you going throughout your time there. I would definitely go back. read more

And probably ONE person cooking back there She kept apologizing to everyone because all the orders were taking a while to come out. By the time the food came out the shrimp was overcooked and salty. The lobster was rubbery and burnt. Everything that came out looked like it was microwaved leftovers Seems like they were out of some items on the menu . As we were NOT enjoying our meal, some of the staff did come around with a bags of groceries through the front door Guess they were REALLY out of stuff!! They need to be on time, every time I seem to support or try to support my own kind when it comes to black owned business it's either a hit or miss. So on Monday 7/23/2024 I was there anxious and excited with my family in the rain thinking they'd be open at 5pm but they weren't open. It was a bus disappointment due to the fact we came all the way from Long Island, NY to Brooklyn, NY. It's like the reviews are great and we were all excited to see the phenomenon and taste the food but to no surprise our fellow Guyanese failed after waiting it 30 mins and even meeting their dishwasher who was a cool dude to kill time with in hopes they'd open sooner because he appeared and they still weren't open. We ended up leaving sad because we didn't think of Suspect they be close. When we arrived and since they were closed still we even allowed them to prep incase the scheduled time that appears for 5pm was too early. Well hopefully someone will see this and we can try this out again. Maybe they can make their time earlier or change the time around instead of it being 5pm if they aren't going to be opened or they need time to finish prepping before accepting customers or taking orders. read more

Went to this place today cause I seen it in social media. First thing is they didn't have some of the items that was on the menu. Second the customer service was so subpar here the gentleman that was the waiter looked like he didn't wanna be there and the bartender/ manager as she told us she is was very attitudish. We ordered our drinks I had the mimosa flight which was good but one of the flute glasses they gave me had a chip in the rim they totally forgot my wife had ordered her rum punch. They food they don't take directions well I ordered a medium steak when I received it it was as tough as a timberland boot!!! My wife ordered the coquito french toast let's just say there is nothing coquito about it smh the grits and shark was good my pancakes was like warm. When I paid my bill I told the manager to give back 10 and take the rest she totally ignored that and was trying to keep everything before you say anything the bill was 120 and we gave 150 we was leaving a 20 dollar tip. It looks like they cater better to social media influencers more then regular people!!! You never know who you serving so you customer service and quality of food should always been on 10!!! Went to the Blue fin on a Saturday night for some food. Once enter the bar tender notified us that only fried food will be available. We were okay with that, the waitress comes and tells us the kitchen would be closed. So I asked the bar tender, I thought we can get fried food and she shook her head, yes to us & the waitress. The waitress Cassidy come to the table & we tell her we want (2) two orders of fries, wings & shrimp, since it was (5) five of us at the table, we just wanted some food after a long day of partying & they were the only restaurant open at the time. The ambience is nice, but service not good at all. The waitress Cassidy then brings out only (1) of everything we order. I advised her we order (2) of everything she told us we did not. She didn't give us any plates, forks or spoons, once the food arrived, which was wrong. We told her to please bring ur some plates & utensils. She brings it, at this time we were not satisfied. Wr ate the little bit of food and asked for the bill.. once we received the bill; I notice Cassidy charged us with (2) of everything that we ordered & DID NOT GET! Because she told us we ordered only one item of each.. yeah okay I advised her to change the bill, in which she did. One day a woman sat at a table and as I walked in with a friend she said she didn't know if they were opening that day and another time the gate was completely down. Food was good in a comfort food kinda way, but I am confident we can find something just as yummy and perhaps more affordable - and hopefully with better service than this place for sure. The main issue was the fact that they were out of most beers on the menu we tried to order, along with lobster, and apparently we had ordered the last of the crab too. The waitress just went back and forth about 10 times rather than just letting us know what they actually had or didn't have. They also dropped one of the crab boil utensils on the floor, picked it up, and placed it on the table. I said can we get a new one? She 100% went in the back, asked around, put the utensil in some dish rack and took it out / brought it back. Idk. It just wasn't an experience that we've ever had at any other restaurant, it was ridiculous. We will not come here ever again. When you go out to pay for a meal, the experience should be pleasant and seamless. It was tolerable at best. Not a fan at all of the staff allowing friends/ patrons / other staff disturb the peace with loud phone calls, fighting, and noise inside the restaurant. We haven't dined out much in the neighborhood during this pandemic, however the places we have dined at were a much different experience. I originally wanted to order pepper pot and bread it is a Guyanese traditional meal around holiday season. When I saw it on the menu, our server said it was unavailable because it finished and a new pot was being made. I know all about that meal it takes about 2 hours plus to make so I just ordered buttermilk pancakes and I added shrimp. My mom and my brothers had bake and salt fish, I got to try it and it was delicious the bakes was thick and fluffy. The salt fish was season and cooked exactly how I like it. I don't have pictures of my drinks I clearly drank it all. I believe I had the passion fruit fish bowl. THAT DRINK & THE FOOD & THE SERVER THE ENTIRE STAFF WAS AMAZING. Everything here was excellent! Terrible service, long wait times and mediocre food for the price. Ordered $150 worth of food which included snow crab legs and was given a plastic fork to try to open them. The wait staff seemed annoyed to assist anyone, maybe because they had to stand around for long periods of time since the kitchen is not able to manage on line orders, catering orders and general restaurant orders. For a cash only establishment, more is expected. Very sad as I always try to support black owned local businesses. Take your business elsewhere. read more
