They also added a fruit punch we didn't order.

Came here to eat with two other friends, food was okay. Service was fine but definitely not good enough for them to automatically add a 20% tip without letting us know. My friends are nice and always tip so we didn't think twice to just tip them and later find out we basically paid for a plate of their mid ass food.

It's just OK. The food was again just Ok. We had the salmon which was burnt - the cabbage lacked flavor - the rice and peas just ok. My aunt had the oxtails which she enjoyed so I would recommend you get that. We also had the oxtails empanada which is not featured here. The ambiance is nothing to speak of. The drinks were the best part of the evening. However, you should know that we were charged $20 for a pineapple margarita - that's insanity This is not my first time here but there are great spots to eat all around and this is blah. Ps this is a Haitian and Jamaican restaurant. The server Denise was really terrific . Should I return here I'll sit at the bar and get drinks maybe Ps The table next to us returned their order of snapper.

Joined a large group for brunch so they gave us the back room which is bright and well decorated with original artwork that is also for sale. The service was great for a 13 person table. The 1 misstep was so minor it made no dent in our experience. I tasted a bit of everything and will say the oxtails empanadas and the mussels were my FAVORITES. The seasoning was just right and tasted authentic to the regional foods. I thought the pork grip could've been fried a bit more but the vinegary flavor was just right. Oh- how could I forget that pepper shrimp!?? I wish they would serve the veggies from the dish as a side. Talk about flavor and the right amount of heat!!! We also met one of the owners. He was so gracious and welcoming I'm looking forward to going again.

We picked the nearest restaurant on the map because it started randomly pouring down raining and they didn't disappoint. Jerricka, our server, was welcoming and informative from the moment we sat down. She suggested the rude boy frozen drink and after one sip, I knew I could trust her with recs. We got the burger, my brother said it was amazing, the jerk chicken plate and Mac. The jerk was ok, but that Mac. YES, YES!!! I would go back just got that

Been back many a time last night have family in town after catching nets almost pull one out vs celts. Place was backed but they always try to accommodate and give it to you straight on the wait. Meal was great as usual. Wings: on point, fan favorites. Peppa shrimp: right amount of spice and veggies cooked to perfection. Red snappa: crisp outside tender inside and sauce just the right compliment. Diri djon djon: they need to sell in the grocery stores . Everyone loved it. Order it as your side . Great to see ownership still together and making it happen at high level. Reserve ahead and prepare for a great meal/time

Solid Caribbean food spot. I usually find myself here after a concert at the Barclay Center or before it mainly has Jamaican Haitian and Trinidad and cuisine, but you can see elements from all parts of the Caribbean. I would write most of their dishes at 7.5 out of 10 . drinks are usually on the weaker end. This place is usually pack so I find service to be somewhat slow but the food taste good so I find myself coming back here.

Vibes, Flavor, and Outstanding Service! We came to BK9 for an after-work celebration, and it was everything we hoped for. The vibe was relaxed, the service was top-tier (huge shoutout to our attentive and friendly server), and the food? So good. I had the whole red snapper--crispy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. My friend had the salmon with okra, and others at the table raved about their chicken, scallops, and strong, well-made drinks. BK9 is Black-owned, and it shows in the pride they take in service and hospitality. We'll definitely be back!

Stumbled across this place after an event at the Barclays. It was around 1 am and the place was still serving up food so in we went. The customer service was great from the time we were seated to the time we left. For appetizers we ordered mussels, jerk chicken and oxtail empanadas and pepper shrimp. All the apps were tasty, picture perfect and satisfying. Main course we had fried snapper which was flavorful, crispy and cooked just right. Oxtail which were good and tasty as well. The rice was perfectly cooked. Finally, the pork griot. The reason for only 3 stars is this dish. It single handely ruined my night. It was nothing but overbearing citrus flavor from the pork to the sauce to the veggies. I thought I'd take it home and try and doctor it up, but there was no saving it unfortunately.

Came here on a Saturday evening before a concert. Unfortunately, due to our commute, we missed our reservation. We had to wait about 10 to 15 minutes for an available table. This place is quaint and very conveniently located with street parking. Due to our limited time, we ordered drinks and appetizers only. I ordered the rum punch. It was just okay. I also ordered empanadas, which was okay as well. Friend ordered callaloo and didn't care for it. I would try this place again and order an entree for a full assessment. Service was good.

Stop number 2 #KwanzaaCrawl 2023 and BK9 delivered.... as per usual! They could barely get the 1st crew out and the same thing went for us!! The bites, the dranks, the DJ were all a VIBEEEEE!! I've done the crawl every year and BK9 NEVER misses!!!! They tried it with the out of season watermelon but we appreciated the effort!!

The service from start to finish was top tier! We felt welcomed and were guided through menu options before settling. We met the owners and were given a guided tour and history and how this establishment originated. You felt the culture and connectedness of them and the restaurant. They want to uplift the community and offer game nights and opportunities to rent the space. Now let's dive into the most important part the FOOD!!!! The curry mussels were tasty. Each mussel was filled for a nice portion size. They had a unique flavor. My first time having curry mussels. Now let's dive into this showstopper the jerk salmon! It was off the chain. If I could have this once a week I would. There was enough to take home but it was so good I could not help myself! There were a lot of alcohol free options for those sub staining but I had rum punch. It hit the spot and was strong just how I like it. I kept it to a 2 drink minimum. Looking forward to adding this location to my monthly rotation!

Every time I go to BK9, I get the black rice and BBQ jerk chicken wings. I tried other options on the menu, but I always end up choosing what I feel tastes best in their menu.

The staff is super friendly here. Jerika and Jasmine are sweethearts. They serve free watermelon I guess when it's hot out and in season. A treat! The mimosas are nice and strong. Some days BK9 has live jazz. Bf really wanted shrimp and grits this day and it was the only place we found that had availability last minute. We appreciated that. I didn't know what to expect of the oxtail hash, it wasn't quite what I imagined in my head, but it was still not bad nevertheless. I think I was expecting actually oxtail in bone. My eggs were also overcooked, but I didn't make a big deal out of it. I was hungry. Would I order the oxtail hash again? Probably not. Maybe I'll just stick to my usual eggs benedict. Bf's shrimp and grits had good flavor. Shrimps were cooked to his liking. I found the grits to be a little.. maybe it was cooling down too long because it was congealed a bit. But the plate was cleaned. Would still come back, maybe for other dishes.

Can they accommodate a party of 20 for a noon celebration on a friday?

As long as you make a reservation they can accommodate.

What kind of music is played during saturday brunch?

A mix of Jazz and radio hits

Do they have brunch on the weekends?

Yes! It's either an hour or 1.5hrs bottomless brunch cocktails (mimosas, bellinis etc) with a brunch entree. It's also reasonably priced.

What's the best night to dine and dance?

BK9 is a great space however there's no dance floor. On Saturdays and Sundays they have a DJ so feel free to move to the rhythms of the beat from your seat.

What are the happy hour specials?

    $4 Drafts, $5 Wines, $2 off cocktails M-F until 7

Is this a good spot for dancing?

The times I've gone, the DJ is there and yes people do get up to dance/sing! Its a tidy spot, but the ambiance is fun!!!

I also had multiple chums from Brooklyn endorsing this spot, so everything seemed to be lining up for an excellent night. Unfortunately, I'm starting to think you just can't go to places like this on a Tuesday, but maybe it was just a bad night. I got here way before my chum due to our work schedules, literally 45 minutes or so. It wasn't 6pm yet and while there were definitely customers in both the bar area and the backyard outdoor section, it was pretty chill. I was able to secure a small table next to the bar right by the open window in the front (probably because the sun was glaring down on it, which wasn't an issue 10 minutes later) and just chilled out for a while, enjoying the excellent warm weather. This was the highlight of the experience, which unfortunately my chum did not get to enjoy. A lot of this was just unfortunate timing, I think. As I was waiting for my chum, people were practically streaming into the bar, probably about 25 or so, which I watched with increasing trepidation. Pretty much all of them wanted a drink, and there was only one bartender. They did not fix that problem until well into my chum's visit, so there was literally just the one guy making a gazillion drinks for about 45 minutes. Just no reason for that at all, especially given that they DID have the resources to divert and had a young woman back there at a certain point. But once I saw how crazy it was getting, I tried to pre-emptively order a second round, which he forgot about and had to ultimately be reminded of. It took literally half an hour to get the second drink. When my chum arrived, she went up to the bar to order her own drink and some of the arancini. She came back 10 minutes later and said she wasn't given the opportunity - THAT is completely insane. If you're so swamped that customers have to wait that long to even order much less get their drinks, you need help. Not clear where the disconnect was, but what started out as a great experience pretty much crash landed. Really disappointing. The crowd did thin out ultimately but the damage had been done. We were able to get the drinks but didn't bother with the additional app because we didn't want to risk missing a big chunk of the Nets game. So by not being even remotely attentive for a significant period of time, they left money on the table. I will say that the bartender himself maintained his professionalism throughout, and just kept making the drinks. Pretty much the opposite of what would have happened on Bar Rescue. This was on management, not the bartender. The drinks WERE good, which also made the service problems a shame. I got the Witch Doctor, which featured bourbon, rosemary, maple and lemon. Really well made, and appropriate for the unseasonably warm evening - it's the kind of bourbon cocktail made for summer. Would absolutely get that again. And the food was very solid. The star of the night was the arancini, which were featured prominently on the apps menu right at the time and promoted as one of their big selling points - deservedly so. These were honestly some of the best rice balls I've had. The cheese in the middle emphasized the flavors and wasn't too dense or overwhelming, the balls were cooked perfectly, and the sauce (the underrated part of rice balls for me) was delicious. Huge recommend. I also got a margarita flatbread to share with my chum, and that was good as well. Everything was going to come up short to the arancini, but it hit the spot. As mentioned, this was a random Tuesday night when maybe they don't have their full crew ready to rock. Maybe it was a fluke crowd surge? I just don't know, but the bottom line was that they weren't prepared for the customers who came in and were already there, and that's a big problem. If you can't deliver the same quality that you do on the weekends and predictably busier times, then you shouldn't be open that early in the week. Hopefully they figure it out because there's a lot to like here.

I've made it a point to visit every vinyl listening bar that I learn of in town, after enjoying the shared experience of someone curating a select vinyl list in intimate spaces in Tokyo. Few have been able to replicate the experience, but Honeycomb Hi Fi Lounge comes close. That the space is narrow with just a few seats along the bar and a few tables mimics the Japanese experience best, where you can almost have it so the whole room is having one conversation together. The music is the focus. The cocktail menu is rather simple, and my Stormbringer drink, with dark rum and ginger beer was not anything to write home about, but $15 is pretty low for cocktails these days so I'll take it. If they introduced new cocktails to the menu with more interesting ingredients I'd be more inclined to return, but the vibes overall are pretty good and the staff really nice.

My friend and I each order a cocktail, and are catching up. I'm from Brooklyn, however I no longer live here, and this was precious catch-up time with my friend. Then I get interrupted mid-sentence by the old-timer DJ from his low seat in a corner behind the bar. I had bumped the bar with my wrist (bumped my wrist watch as well, not deliberately) and then placed my hand down (granted- more than placed but definitely not slammed), and he decided to warn me that I COULD HAVE made his record skip. It was the Eagles or Santana (far from eclectic, but that's just me). I'm also 99% certain he turned the volume up afterwards, making it even harder to enjoy the company. After that interaction, I struggled to pick it back up with my friend, because I found that distraction very effing rude. When this "4th wall" gets broken down with service, it is hard to then enjoy the space in an uninhibited state. I am all for the Tokyo Vinyl Bar vibe, and I'm also for also giving talent an outlet to share their collection, but this interaction colored my experience, and I closed out after one drink and went elsewhere. I mentioned this to the bartender, and he was kind to offer a buy-back of a rare whiskey, which I did accept. 5 stars for the bartender, but 1 for my experience. I don't like to be harsh or unnecessarily cruel, but this is what it is. I have visited in the past and enjoyed myself. Nonetheless, I certainly won't be coming back.

They serve oysters, which adds to that aphrodisiac experience of the oh so 'wow this is a former brothel!'. The bartenders and servers were fast and very sociable with the more sociable customers. The immediate entrance is very tight, and it was uncomfortable navigating the space. We expected there'd be more seating in the back, which there was, but it was limited and not offered to us until we asked for it. We honestly had no clue where it would be and only asked because of how this place was advertised. While it was comfy once we made our way back there, it was reminiscent of a lounge style bar space that almost any bar could replicate with the right room and budget.
