Bleu Nuk is a must. The first time I went I just had appetizers of wings and fish cakes. Both were great. The second time I went was for an event and they were so accommodating. They served appetizers for large groups, rum punch, and sorrel. The rum punch definitely was the best I've tasted, especially being someone who doesn't care for rum punch. It certainly had a punch. The sorrel was perfect too. The wings, jerk chicken egg rolls and fish cakes were all perfect. Definitely a great Caribbean owned neighborhood restaurant. Establishment is clean and well kept.

Service is lovely and vibes are immaculate. The background music sets the tone for very casual and relaxed and the decor is tasteful. My waitress was super sweet and I felt really welcome here. Didn't need a reservation for brunch, could just walk in. Was in the mood for hot chocolate and the hot cocoa here definitely hit the spot. The presentation was A+ too-- the toasted marshmallow, chocolate sprinkles, and crushed candy canes on top of the whipped cream added a touch of whimsy that was really fun. Got the fried chicken sandwich; I really appreciate that they use dark meat, as it's so much juicier (why anyone prefers white meat is beyond me). The chipotle sauce added a nice smokiness that went well with the sweetness of the honey. As someone who's admittedly a bit of a messy eater, I would've preferred they brought it out on a plate instead of a cutting board (which would be less aesthetic unfortunately but more practical). Fries were seasoned well. Would return in the future, especially to try out their bread pudding (would've liked to try it this time but was wayyy too full afterwards haha).

Let me start by saying, the service was A1. Very pleasant staff. It's a cozy environment, perfect for the go to neighborhood spot. There was a large party celebrating and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Food and drinks were good, just not something I would have again. The oxtail was flavorful, but very fatty. I had it over the loaded fries which were decent. The mimosas were ok, the spicy mango margarita wasn't good in my opinion. My friend enjoyed her shrimp and grits. The Mac n cheese was flavorful but over cooked and dry. Presentation was nice. I do want to go back and try the jerk chicken spring rolls and jalapeño corn bread. Overall a pleasant after birthday brunch.

Visited for brunch and was most impressed with the service. The decor was calm and welcoming. Coffee and hot cocoa presentations were both A1. French toast was above average, as well as the shrimp and grits. The steak and eggs were below par for me. Steak was cooked according to ordered temp but sirloin for brunch isn't my cup of tea, I need a more tender cut especially for brunch. No bottomless brunch, and a single mimosa was $13. Aside from the phenomenal waitress, there was no "WOW" factor.

Who said the party has to stop once brunch ends? I don't who said that, but I do not agree and neither does my girls. So we ended up at Blue Nuk BK after brunch. Again they have been previously but this was my first time. As the first timer, I followed their lead and let the vibes flow. We had drinks and while I do not remember the names (one was definitely a rum punch) they were amazing. The drinks and the ladies serving us was so amazing even you we only stop for drinks we sat so long enjoying the cocktails and atmosphere we decided to get a couple of things to nosh on. Sweet plantains and shrimp tocos. I honestly can't wait to go back. Just A Note: Be prepared to call an Uber because you will get here and forget all of your worries.

Firstly I played myself for not coming sooner...smh! Me and friend came for brunch around 1130/12 and sat at the bar. The staff was amazing with good humor and great service. Firstly that damn Jalapeños corn bread with the Jalapeños butter had me in a choke hold for real!!! Omg that was soooo good, next time I'm not sharing! I also had the shrimp and grits with a side of bacon. The shrimp were perfectly done and of course everything was well season. We also shared the jerk pork mac-n-cheese, I was not disappointed. It wasn't grannies Mac but it did what it had to. The star was that jerk pork nutritious and delicious!! The sangria was also tasty and the playlist was on point. I will definitely be back A+

Last night my fiance and I finally made it in to try Blu Nuk-- and soo glad we did! Without reservations, we walked in around 7pm on a Thursday evening and were seated right away. They had the A/C on and the doors open, it was a calm island breeze the entire evening. Our waitress, Dione, was attentive and incredibly pleasant- answering questions and offering suggestions. Our empty plates were removed within seconds and our glasses were never empty-- service was excellent! We ordered a margarita, sangria, the cod fritters, jerk rolls, pork and escovitch fish --- all really good. Nothing needed more seasoning. Coming from Caribbean roots, I find that many Caribbean restaurants have to tailor the food to the general public's taste -- and here was not the case! All flavors were evident in the food. Typically we don't get desert but both the lava cake and bread pudding were excellent too!! We definitely didn't walk out hungry and the whole bill was only $120!! Would recommend and we'll be back! Sorry it took so long to stop in!

This is my review of the blue nuk located on Nostrand Avenue in Brooklyn. The aesthetics of the restaurant is great for a weekend brunch. The inside is small but spacious with tons of natural lighting. My friend and I went on a Sunday afternoon and there was no wait for a table. For drinks, we had margaritas, which tasted amazing considering the restaurant restaurant only uses wine based alcohol. For food, we had the red velvet chicken and waffles, regular chicken and waffles and shrimp and grits. The food was properly proportioned and tasted great. Our waiter was really funny and the bartender Dion even came over and greeted us before we left. Overall I would rate the experience a 9 out of 10.

The stars finally aligned this winter and I had the opportunity to try it out. The vibes are perfect. Fog and bubbles, sea noises and all of the art go together seemlessly. Drinks were great. We had three and left suitably sloshed for the night with no aftereffects. We didn't have too many bites but the food was very good for a bar. I'm excited to go back and I hope we have just as much luck getting in next time.

All the drinks keep with the tropical, fruity taste with a hint of spice. They are also broken up into categories (dry land = no alcohol, shallows = average amount of alcohol, and abyss (larger amounts of alcohol). The abyss section has some cocktails that are limited to two per customer. They have some bar bites like fried green tomatoes, shrimp toast, broiled oysters, ricotta, dumplings, sliders. I had the French fries with kimchi ranch, which were underwhelming. Bartenders were cool and kept the drinks coming. I got in immediately without an issue or a wait, but it was right after a snowstorm. I've seen some people struggle to get in or have a long wait.

Unfortunately this place fell very flat. Leading with what we liked: Their mocktail offerings were good, promising a 0.0% ABV which is hard to come across when mocktails are offered. They serve oysters, which adds to that aphrodisiac experience of the oh so 'wow this is a former brothel!'. The bartenders and servers were fast and very sociable with the more sociable customers. The immediate entrance is very tight, and it was uncomfortable navigating the space. We expected there'd be more seating in the back, which there was, but it was limited and not offered to us until we asked for it. We honestly had no clue where it would be and only asked because of how this place was advertised. While it was comfy once we made our way back there, it was reminiscent of a lounge style bar space that almost any bar could replicate with the right room and budget. We didn't feel as though this hit the spot and were let down by this experience. I'm not sure if I can judge the menu of drinks/ foods as expensive, but we left hungry bc we couldn't justify some of the prices. In addition, I've seen a lot of complaints about the volume of the music: it's definitely loud at the front but a lot lower in that back lounge space. It's as loud as any bar's music level would be, but truth be told we were expecting music that matched the vibe of what was advertised and yes, at a lower volume.

I've made it a point to visit every vinyl listening bar that I learn of in town, after enjoying the shared experience of someone curating a select vinyl list in intimate spaces in Tokyo. Few have been able to replicate the experience, but Honeycomb Hi Fi Lounge comes close. That the space is narrow with just a few seats along the bar and a few tables mimics the Japanese experience best, where you can almost have it so the whole room is having one conversation together. The music is the focus. The cocktail menu is rather simple, and my Stormbringer drink, with dark rum and ginger beer was not anything to write home about, but $15 is pretty low for cocktails these days so I'll take it. If they introduced new cocktails to the menu with more interesting ingredients I'd be more inclined to return, but the vibes overall are pretty good and the staff really nice.

My friend and I each order a cocktail, and are catching up. I'm from Brooklyn, however I no longer live here, and this was precious catch-up time with my friend. Then I get interrupted mid-sentence by the old-timer DJ from his low seat in a corner behind the bar. I had bumped the bar with my wrist (bumped my wrist watch as well, not deliberately) and then placed my hand down (granted- more than placed but definitely not slammed), and he decided to warn me that I COULD HAVE made his record skip. It was the Eagles or Santana (far from eclectic, but that's just me). I'm also 99% certain he turned the volume up afterwards, making it even harder to enjoy the company. After that interaction, I struggled to pick it back up with my friend, because I found that distraction very effing rude. When this "4th wall" gets broken down with service, it is hard to then enjoy the space in an uninhibited state. I am all for the Tokyo Vinyl Bar vibe, and I'm also for also giving talent an outlet to share their collection, but this interaction colored my experience, and I closed out after one drink and went elsewhere. I mentioned this to the bartender, and he was kind to offer a buy-back of a rare whiskey, which I did accept. 5 stars for the bartender, but 1 for my experience. I don't like to be harsh or unnecessarily cruel, but this is what it is. I have visited in the past and enjoyed myself. Nonetheless, I certainly won't be coming back.
