Omg! Let me tell you about last night! I do not have pictures of the Rasta pasta but there were no crumbs left. The fries of the plantain burger were exceptional. What I do have some pictures of are the catfish and grits. Both of which I enjoyed. The vibes are out of this world and I cannot wait to return Saturday night for some dancehall and breaking of the waist. Great staff! The ambiance was cool.

Savvy Bistro & Bar is a vibe! Perfect place if you want a brunch with friends and great music! Food: the drinks is good whether you doing individual drinks, pitchers, or towers. The food; the Caribbean burger, fried shrimps, honey buffalo wings well , waffles with shrimp, shrimp tacos, coconut shrimps, Service: the service is fast as soon as you sit. The waiter staff is very informative and full of energy. Ambiance: the ambiance is average size with full bar, tables, hookah, and a love DJ. The energy is very loud, entertaining, and upbeat with live music. They also have big screen tv with the latest sports, news, or whatever happening in the world with close captions. My overall experience is 5/5 this place is a MUST

Ambiance and drinks only review! Cute little spot, went on a Friday night, around 11pm music was good and drink was ok. Gratuity is added automatically, however bartenders don't tell you, just give you the total to swipe for card payment, had another guest not informed me I would've double tipped. (When auto gratuity is added at the bar on ONE drink, standard service should include disclosing that to the customer). Ambiance was dark and can see this being a good date spot or just a place to catch up at the bar. Decent pricing, margarita 14$... and was well made. Standard Nostrand Avenue bar.

Biscuit and Fried Chicken ($18) - I appreciated how this place fuses Caribbean and New Orleans flavors! The highlight was the fried chicken's seasoning. The chicken was also juicy and moist whereas the biscuit didn't stand out too much. The side salad with strawberry sauce balanced the chicken sandwich very well.

Review #1200! Unseasonably warm day called for a day for. Run h. Arrived here around 2 and thought the wait time may be long, but wasn't. We had to sit outside, which is enclosed. The stools were a little rough, but we were able to switch to the chairs next to us after about 45 minutes. The service was extremely prompt. Within just a few minutes of sitting someone came by to greet us and take our orders. I had the Nutella French Toast, which comes with eggs with peppers. I added an order of grits. Another had the same exact order but with bacon. My other friend had chicken and waffles. I thought the French toast was just okay. However, the grits and eggs were great, along with the home fries. I thought the service was excellent and since we all did the bottomless mimosas, for the extra $30 each. Our server, Queen, constantly checked in on us, and provided us refills, whenever necessary.

A few friends and I randomly stumbled upon this spot while in the area looking for a bite. Upon entering, the space was lively and cozy with a lounge feel. It turns out that it's a hookah lounge, which we got. They have a variety of flavors, but we opted for Watermelon Mint, which was $30 for happy hour pricing. Note that the hookah is cash or cashapp only as they charge you separately. As for food, we ordered the Coconut Shrimp ($15), Catfish Bites ($15), and Savvy Wings in Guava BBQ flavor ($13). The food was crispy and flavorful, but the catfish was probably my favorite for how tender and crunchy they are --perfect for sharing. Overall, such a chill spot to hang out. They have old school R&B blasting with a DJ booth for the weekends. Even on a Wednesday night, this place was poppin'.

The food is not saying ah thing. Cold temps hard in texture. Like cmon... Outside of that the spot is nice. Clean, good music and vibes. Service is decent. They could be a bit more attentive. We came for happy hour on a Friday 3 to 7pm . We ordered the Jerk sliders 2/10 cold too spicy and rubbery Fries 6/10 good seasoning just cold Mozzarella sticks 5/10 cold Popcorn Chicken 6/10 came out hot after I mentioned the food had been cold. The drinks were extremely good. They get a star for vibes and atmosphere and a star for the drinks.

This was an unexpected brunch find for a Saturday! And we're so glad we found it. We got seated right away. This place is a vibe, cozy and intimate, nicely decorated, and good music playing. If you're looking for some Caribbean and Southern flavors, this is the spot! Their menu will have your tastebuds dancing! Their brunch menu is fire, so many great options to choose from. For starters, get the Catfish bites, the Guyanese pepper sauce with the bites....oh so tasty you will not be disappointed. The shrimp and grits were very flavorful, the grits were cooked to perfection. The Plantain Power dish hit the spot, it was loaded with delicious plantains served with scrambled eggs. They even cater to kids. Everything we ate was soooo good! We also got a pitcher of the passionfruit mimosas and it was a perfect amount for our table. They know what they're doing there! Overall this was a solid brunch spot. The service was excellent, food was fire, the vibe was on hit. They have a DJ booth and an events calendar, definitely check this spot out!

The food is very good. You get great portions for flavorful meals at a great price. Took a chance on the catfish bites and they were splendid, surprised at how many were given. Ordered the Burger and it was prolly one of the best burgers i've had in a very long time. The service was friendly alll the waitresses were nice and welcoming. The ambience was nice they had live music, showed basketball games and even had a mic'd up sax player. The only downside is that we had to wait 30 mins later than our reservation to be seated and the place was a bit too loud. if not for these two things , 5/5

TL;DR version- Some high highs and some very low lows. Hot Figs was a fun app. By a mile, the soups…read morewere the favorites, so I would recommend the Pepián or Caldo Tlalpeño Rojo. Nice happy hour and a large chocolate drink selection I was at this unique Guatemalan (ish) restaurant a while back with one of my groups. I said "ish" because the menu has dishes from all over, ranging from sandwiches to BBQ ribs to Guatemalan and Mexican soups. It's out there, and even though not everything works that well, it's fun, and if you can't find something you want to order here, you probably shouldn't go out to restaurants. There was also live jazz music that night, which was loud but nice to listen to. Since it was happy hour, a bunch of us got drinks. I went with a maracuya margarita, which was decent; someone else had a jalapeño margarita, someone had a beer, and someone had a mojito. There were a few nice hot sauces on the table, with the red one reminding me of salsa macha as it had a smoky kick and a spicier green sauce reminiscent of ají verde. They gave us some complimentary blue corn chips and a very mild black bean dip, which was tasty enough and hard to complain about, as it was free. From the appetizers, we got the Hot Figs for $15.95, consisting of honey goat cheese, corn tortilla chips, and plum + pumpkin seeds. This was a unique and fun blend and reminded me more of something you would find in a wine bar. The mix of sweet and salty, with a bit of crunch from the seeds, was nice. This was good, and I would recommend it for a table rather than for a solo diner. There was also The Zingy Salad for $21.95, featuring zucchini spirals, yuzu, tomato, onion, cilantro, pumpkin seeds, and a jalapeño infusion. $18.95. The salad was fine with a bit of crunch and a mild spiciness. It was fine, though a bit wet, for lack of a better word. The best dishes of the night were the soups, which each had its own distinct flavor profile. My sight presence went to the Pepián for $21.95, consisting of chicken, pumpkin/sesame seeds, green tomatillo, cinnamon, cumin, black pepper, carrots, chili coban/pasta/guaque, and potato + rice. There was plenty of tender chicken inside, with the soup having a nice roasted flavor with some spice and a bit of sourness. The potatoes and rice on the bottom added more sustenance to this dish. Almost equally delicious was the Caldo Tlalpeño Rojo for a dollar more with shredded chicken, tomato, black pepper, garlic, onions, peas, chickpeas, corn, achiote, chipotle, Monterey jack cheese, and crunchy blue corn tortilla chips. By comparison, this was a bit heartier, with the melted cheese and shredded tortilla chips inside, similar to soups found in Mexican cuisine. While I also liked the mix of veggies a bit more in this one, as it added a bit more texture, I still slightly preferred the flavor of the other soup, as I usually prefer a bit more spice. The rest of the food was fine. The TPC sandwich for $19.95 with chicken, peanut butter, coconut cream, ginger, cilantro, pickled carrots, and lime was fine. For the number of ingredients, I found it a bit sweet, likely from the cream and the peanut butter mix. The bread was nice, but it also fell apart. It came with a nice side salad with a good vinaigrette. The most expensive at $24.95 were the Slow Cooked BBQ Ribs, consisting of baby back ribs with rice and beans. The ribs were almost a bit too tender as they lacked any bite, which was nice, but the sauce was a bit too generic tasting, reminding me of Sweet Baby Ray's or something similar. The rice and beans were standard. This was also OK. Next came some dessert. There was first the $12.95 Rosemary Churros served with dulce de leche & chocolate dips. While I'm not sure if it worked, the rosemary did add a unique smell and a bit of flavor, and at least it wasn't generic. The churros themselves were hot, and the sauces were standard, with my preference being the dulce de leche. I also ordered a Champurrado for $7.95, which was fine. It wasn't as thick as I expected, though perhaps the style is a bit different than the champurrados I rarely buy from Mexican street carts. The chocolate flavor was very nice, though, and I like that it wasn't too sweet. Another person got a $4 Alfajor, which I got a bite of, which was standard. This place is a bit hard to rate. The two soups were wonderful, I liked the appetizers, and I found a couple of the other dishes just OK. Overall, it was a good meal, but I'm not craving to go back. This would be the perfect 3.5, but I'll round up as that doesn't exist.

For drinks, it's best to stay near the baristas towards the front of the store since those are typically called out separately. I ordered the Madeline omelette without the jalapeños. It was good overall but it could have used a little more salt. I also tried the matcha latte (which tasted a bit too milky) and I had to add extra sweetener, so I'd probably try a different drink next time. The pastries, especially the apple strudel and Boston cream donut, were both really good. Highly recommend the apple strudel.
