I am a Sweet Science newbie. I had my first Happy Hour experience there yesterday and it will not be my last. Dropped in with a friend who is a Sweet Science regular. I liked the vibe immediately upon entry. Dim but not too dark lighting. Vintage feel. Fully stocked bar and a beautifully framed, larged photo of Biggie on the wall. We started our time there with really good Margaritas. I like mines classic. Ashley, the beautiful bartender made them just right. I sipped my drink and made friends with a really cool guy sitting next to me. He treated me and my friend to tequila shots. We asked for our shots to be served chilled upon my friend's suggestion. It was a great suggestion indeed. I ordered a burger from the hh menu. It was fresh and stacked! I take my burgers well done. I added a fried egg, crispy bacon and extra pickles. It was so good. My friend ordered a biscuit topped with saucy lobster and shrimps from the main menu. She raved about the sauce so I took a little of hers to drizzle over my burger. So good! We were told that Happy Hour is all day on Thursdays so we made a quick run to another spot and then made our way BACK to Sweet Science. I continued my night with rosé, mozzarella sticks, the most delicious mini skillet of crab dip and finally a whiskey sour. I'm late to Sweet Science and their vibe but better late than never. They have great music and large tv's showing sports too. I'll be back again and again. Good stuff! read more

Came for brunch. 7 minute walk from the train. Nice spot. Ample space. Full bar. Good music. Waitress could be better with checking up on her tables. I liked the different drink options for brunch. Simple menu nothing too fancy or eye catching. I ordered the Jerk chicken hash which is supposed to come with chicken breast, but i barely saw any chicken on my plate and nothing about it was jerked. Instead of a chicken breast it was chicken chunks mixed in with the potatoes. The grits was good. Food was ok. One of the girls had the shrimp and lobster which looked good. Margaritas were good. Sweet Science is a decent brunch spot with cool, loud music from a professional DJ to set the vibe. They have a solid brunch menu with plenty of options and the ability to tag on bottomless mimosas for +$30/p. First off, the food is alright. The burger tasted good but the portion was small. I'd consider more like a slider than a burger. The cheddar grits side is 100% not worth it. Overall for the price, I don't think it was worth it. It'll be a fun time every once in a while. read more

What an absolutely and legitimately amazing experience! A space designed to be accessible, comfortable, and yet refined at the same time. Starting with the crab cake, I found it perfectly prepared, delectable, and delicious. I also loved all the cocktails we ordered, which were the perfect mix of strengthen and deliciously unique flavor. For entrees, the Sweet Science Burger and the Catfish Sandwich were both perfect in their preparation and taste. I'm saying this because I truly enjoyed them - yes, they were a bit pricey on the menu, but for me, they completely were warranted when it came to their quality and taste. So i have nothing at ALL to complain about. Not to mention the fact that service was extremely friendly and hospitable. I honestly have nothing bad to say about this place. Sweet Science is the place to go if you are in the mood for a lowkey , comfy eatery. I went during happy hour and the drinks did not disappoint. I ordered a guava margarita on the rocks and a frozen passion fruit margarita and both drinks were very good. The South Carolina tangy wings were alright to me but my friends loved it. The Maryland limb crab dip was the star of the show for me. (If you are a fan of dips such as artichoke dip or ragu's this would be a meal you enjoy). I also enjoyed the chicken biscuit(we cut it in half to split it via the picture). The chicken biscuit was both sweet and savory and the flavors blended together perfectly. I will definitely come back to this spot , there are many items on the menu that I love to try in the future. read more

Sweet Science is such a gem for brunch in Brooklyn! My friend and I were dilly dallying all Sunday so why not stop by S.S to wrap up the festivities. Their brunch goes from 11-5pm, which is generous as most places wrap up brunch by 3pm. We got there around 4pm, grabbed two seats at the bar and ordered the lobster, shrimp & biscuits to split. The food was spot on, very fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. Every dish that came out for other patrons also looked good. The vibes were also immaculate. The music was great as the DJ kept the chunzzz coming. The crowd was lively but not overwhelming or overly stimulating like most brunch spots. The space is also welcoming whether you're with friends or flying solo. On top of that, there was plenty of street parking, which is always a win in New York. The only reason I'm giving 4 (it's really a 4.5) stars instead of 5 is because the bartender tossed out my mocktail when I went to the restroom. Like miss ma'am, you take my full glass but not the empty ones still sitting on top the bar. Sigh. She offered to re-make it but I was over it. I absolutely loved the hospitality as soon as I walked in the establishment . And it's a " Black Owned". The manager was patience with our time and provided us with a great location for seating . The food was pretty good and the mimosa were spiked meaning it took you there . I love the music entertainment and great DJ to get the crowd going . The one thing I would say was, the service was slow with making sure mimosas were flowing . Sometimes that can be a turn off with restricted table limit . Definitely recommend Sweet Science does better with the decreasing the wait on mimosa service . They get busy on Sundays . I love this bar, even if it was where I watched the Knicks get eliminated this past season. This particular spot wasn't a destination for us, it was just an inviting bar on a corner we were walking by. However, it was exactly what we wanted for the evening: cocktails and seats to watch the Knicks, with a good crowd but not so many people that it was unbearable. Sweet Science seems to be exactly what a lot of people need or want, judging by our first visit. They've also got: -A big beautiful bar. -Affordable cocktails. -A great beer selection. -Good music, when the Knicks sound wasn't on. -Huge open air windows, and great tables outside. -Food that we have yet to get down with (I liked the menu though). -Paint & Sip going on in the back that night (along with other events all the time). The music was good..not too loud, energy in the resturant fantastic, the service was cool as well. That's about all the positive I got. Our bottomless mimosa was more like bottles of champagne only. Each flavor lacking and the pitchers lacking a proper balance of juice to champagne. Food was decent. While our shrimp and lobster in it's flavorful sauce paired was the cheesy grits was amazing. The biscuit was dense. Our crabcakes was flavorful, lump crab, fresh avocado and a heap of crispy onions. The steak and eggs was a disaster. Eggs were slapped on the plate and steak was bloody. I came here for bottomless brunch with my friends and we had a great time. They don't seat you unless your entire party is present. The restaurant is kind of dark as the rain added to the gloominess unfortunately but we still had a good time. We all got mimosas and you can choose your favor of mango, orange, passionfruit, and guava. I enjoyed passionfruit and guava. A bucket of champagne bottles are brought out so you can make your own mimosas. We ordered: - Hey Baby Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich: I added Cajun fries. This was sooo good. Food was delicious loved the fried catfish. However, customer service goes a long way. I called before i orderd to see if they would fry, not blacken the fish. Rep said ok and even took my name. However, the manager was rude and unaccountable. She saw my number on the caller ID when I called after I placed the delivery order, picked up and then hung up on me. She then took the phone off the hook for 15 minutes. I called back 53 time and it rang busy. Then on the 54th try the manager answered and hung up again. I wish i knew her name. I called from another number and she answered. Short story, she didn't want to fry the fish, but said things like "why are you calling back?" " well if you called before, why are you calling back?" "Well you should have called right away!" (Knowing they took the phone off the hook.) And lastly "Well I'll just cancel your order". She was rude because normally they cancel the order and the buyer gets shorted out of a refund. Not me, it was a bait & switch, if they weren't going to fry the fish she should have said that when I called before I ordered online and she took my full name. The rude manager took the phone off the hook, so they could send me whatever they wanted. Who does that. I wonder how many calls they missed because of her lack of professionalism. This is a black owned business, so I tried to patronize and recommend. But this Caucasian manager has often been dismissive and rude whenever I ask to have fish dinner fried instead of blackened. A friend and I came here for brunch on a Sunday around 11am. We were immediately squeezed in the back very closely amongst a few other tables of 2, which we both were a little confused about since the rest of the restaurant was almost entirely empty. We ordered their signature burger, which we were disappointed didn't come with fries but we ended up ordering fries on the side. The burger was actually pretty good. We also got the biscuits and gravy, which was a bit bland. The ambiance of the restaurant was pretty nice- they had fun Halloween decor up since it is almost October, which was a fun surprise. The music was also something of note- it was all modern hip hop/r&b, which was pretty awesome for someone like me who loves those genres of music. Looking at my own photos, even I would believe the food was delicious, but I hate to say it, I can't believe this food was so underwhelming. I know it looks so good but it all tastes as if it was frozen and warmed up. The steak had no flavor at all. It tasted like i was chewing brown tissue paper. I was there with my son, because i seen how spacious the restaurant was, it could accommodate large parties, and also the stroller won't be in the way. In fact the spot is absolutely beautiful and the bar is huge. I would actually return just to the bar, since I didn't drink there's still an opportunity there. The service was also phenomenal! I visited Sweet Science for the first time on a Saturday night around 8:00 PM with two friends. We enjoyed it so much that we ended up staying and chatting for hours! It wasn't too crowded and we were seated right away. We had two different servers (I believe their names were Alex and Kira), as we were there for so long, and they were both equally kind, hospitable, warm, and helpful. The drink menu is fantastic. I got a warm apple cider with bourbon, which was delicious. For my entree, I got the steak frites with chimichurri, which was outstanding. The cocktail I got was $12, and the entree was $38, but I should add that this was one of the more expensive entrees, and it was definitely worth it for how amazing it tasted. The atmosphere was very cute, up-to-date, and clean. I absolutely recommend checking out Sweet Science for brunch, lunch, dinner, or even just drinks! read more

The music is excellent. Mix of old school (90's & 2000's) r &b, rap and pop. A few cuts from the 80's and some new age stuff. The music was the best part. It gives dive bar vibes. Mixture of booths, tables and chairs, bar with chairs that have backs versus stools. Christmas lights and pictures. Etc. My bestie was late. So I sat at the bar. It took longer than I would've liked for acknowledgment but the bartender was friendly enough. The food portion/ taste doesn't equate to the price. While I waited for my bestie I had a Truly tequila/soda hard seltzer ($5) and a side of fries ($6) . The truly tasted better than I expected and the fries were fresh cut and came with a side of creole aioli. When I asked the bartender what creole aioli tasted like she couldn't describe it. The fries had pieces of bacon (shouldn't have been there) and another foreign object that shouldn't have been there. You can tell they used every part of the potato because some parts were dry and Overcooked. The foreign objects also tell me they don't clean their fryer enough and if you're are vegan/vegetarian avoid the fries. We did the High Key drink package which was $40 per person. That let you have "unlimited" mimosa, margaritas (frozen or on the rocks), froze, Bloody Mary, frozen henny coladas and any house drinks. First off the service is extremely slow. My bestie and I only had 4 drinks each. If we would have order Al la carte those 8 drinks would've been $84. So why pay $80 for unlimited. When we ordered our second drinks it took 30 mins to receive them. When unlimited drinks is 90 mins. That was only after a different server came and asked us were we ok. We had to reorder the drinks. UNACCEPTABLE! The food was a 5/10. The shrimp and grits were bland ($23). The sauce was white. Every place I've had shrimp & grits and even when I make it. The sauce is yellow/orange etc. it was jumbo shrimp and the grits were lump free. But besides salt and cheddar cheese it tasted like nothing. Definitely not worth the price. The chicken and waffles ($24) was another disappointment. ONE boneless chicken thigh and a "cornbread waffle". There was no cornmeal involved in the preparation of that waffle. It honestly tasted like a cinnamon Belgian waffle. The waffle was already sweet and they gave syrup and sweet butter with it. One thigh is unacceptable. Could have included a leg or wing for $24. We were still Hungry after splitting the entree's. So We got an order of Parmesan truffle fries ($9) and a side of the hanger steak ($16). The truffle fries did not come with a sauce and they charged me $1 for a side of the creole sauce, which came in a half filled ramekin. The truffle was non existent. The steak was prepared at the correct requested temperature (medium) but they cut it against the grain because it was chewy. I ordered a side of blue cheese ($1) and it gave it some life but didn't help the chewiness. The Henny colada was disgusting. It honestly tasted like pineapple juice with a spit of coconut. Didn't taste like any Hennessy was included. BBQ's Henny coladas are 10 times better. The margaritas were decent. Between the two of us we tried mango, passion fruit, and guava. The passion fruit and guava tasted authentic. The mango did not. The glass was filled with ice and there was hardly any cocktail. I do love the small Ice cubes though. The mango mimosa was fine. They added extra drinks on the bill. We weren't charged but I didn't appreciate it looking like we had more drinks than we actually did. The menu says they add 20% gratuity to parties 5 or more. Yet they still added 20% gratuity to my 2 top. I won't return and don't recommend. Service is 4/10 and price isn't worth it. Our bill was $226. read more

It's been a long time since I've been to Sweet Science. I miss Uncle Fred's . This black owned spot is spacious and airy. Has ample seating indoors and outdoors. They have several frozen drinks. I had 3 Henny Coladas like it was a a Friday . I was told the Frosé was alright. They just taste so good. I enjoyed my hefty meal. Jerk Ribs with Mac and cheese and collard greens. The greens were a bit spicy. The jerk ribs were actually tender despite it looking dry from the rub. The shrimp and grits were good but could've been more grits. The plate just makes it look like it's a huge portion. My other two coworkers had the steak sandwich and fish(catfish) and chips. The music was straight 90s and 00s R&B. We were cubing and chilling. My friend and I took a weekend trip NYC and someone suggested this place for bottomless brunch. We arrived as soon as they opened as we're used to brunch being packed as soon as they open. To our surprise we were the first ones there. The inside was nicely decorated, but we opted to sit outside. It was a nice patio and it was fun people watching. We were greeted by our waiter, I ordered the bottomless mimosas. My friend got the next tier that included the Bellinis and beer. The mimosas were pretty good. They did not skimp on the champagne at all. They had pineapple, oj, guava, and papaya. They came out in carafes. I did take off a star because our waiter never came back to get our food order. We had to ask the guy cleaning the tables to get him. I ordered the jerk salmon and lox. It took about 30 minutes for the food to come out. It was was delicious. My friend got the biscuits and gravy. She said it was amazing. We got a new waitress and she was amazing and kept the carafes coming. She even offered us a cup to take our remaining mimosas with us. I went in to use the restroom about an hour and a half into our stay and the place was packed and there was a live dj. The inside was lit! So I'm thinking the dj comes around 1ish. The ONLY slight complaint was that the unlimited mimosas that three us had barely had any champagne and we needed to ask for more to be added. Other than that no negative comments.
