For food we ordered the anchored nachos no meat, buffalo wings and the Carmen fries. Portions and prices are really decent. The flavor was pretty good. They play a variety of music. Went here recently and unfortunately had a pretty bad experience. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and right away the chicken tasted off. It had a strange taste that made me stop eating it after a few bites because something didn't seem right. Later that night I ended up getting really sick with stomach issues, which I'm pretty sure was from the sandwich. The fries are also wayyy too salty! Hoping this was just a one-off issue, but I'd be cautious ordering the chicken here. Hopefully the bar can take a closer look at their food quality and storage or maybe cook food a little longer. And it can even be a good one, if you've got nothing but the three Bs, as long as they are quality. But when you add some extras, you can make a bar truly great. Anchored Inn has a few things that make it GREAT. 1. Surprisingly delicious food. Their menu is accessible but with a few interesting twists, and everything I've tried has been of almost shockingly high quality. The burgers are essentially perfect bar burgers, but gussied up with a very welcome charred scallion aioli. I like that you can get an actual good salad instead of fries if you want. The chicken fingers are actually crispy lemongrass chicken bites, with a fish sauce spiked chili lime dipper that is salty and pungent and awesome. And the nachos are the real deal. 2. Great bartenders. Except this one guy who I think hates me. Probably because of my face. I'm not a big fan of it either, guy. 3. Good music. Not as metal as you may have seen advertised (thankfully), but a rock and roll vibe for sure. 4. Interesting and funky decor. Think weird paintings of historical figures, fun nautical gear (fits the name of the place), the odd skull. All of it is good for when you're stuck chatting with someone you don't care to chat with, and want to look around. I like this place. Tacos were good; light, flavorful and just about all you could ask for in a traditional taco. Brussels were nicely done and just charred enough that it brought out the flavor without tasting burned. I have a weakness for kitsch! I love the under the sea theme, velvet paintings and rocker clientele. I moved to NY from Seattle and it definitely reminded me of home. They also have a great front patio. And it is also connected to a pretty cool venue, Acheron next door. All drafts are 4 bones during happy hour! I was personally happy to find a pretty delicious salad for 6 bucks. It was a romaine salad with radishes, pumpkin seeds, thinly sliced radishes, cotija cheese and a chile vinegarette. A group of us stopped by the Anchored Inn, Wednesday Night 7/19, after a show at the Brooklyn Monarch. None of us could get the bartenders attention, even though we were sitting at the bar. We had to keep going up to her to place our orders. After 10 minutes of waiting for her to take my order, while she was busy on her phone the whole time, I decided to go up to her too, to place my order as well, and was faced with major attitude after interrupting her important phone time. She just couldn't be bothered. It wasn't even that busy and she seemed miserable and angry being there and was taking out her anger on every single customer. I've been a bartender in the neighborhood for 24 years and still currently work at 2 major Williamsburg bars and have never been faced with such attitude before. After a friend waited 20 minutes for her 2nd drink, we decided to leave. We would have Drank a whole lot more and tipped a whole lot more but this bartender is obviously not interested in making money for herself or the bar. The worst part was the young man next to us thought she wasn't serving him cause he was Latino, and we just told him it wasn't him, she was treating everyone with the same disrespect. I will never be returning to this bar. Too bad cause the burgers were delicious and a friend recommended this place. read more

This place left a real impression on me, and when I say that I am being literal as I have bruises from the mosh pit. Yes, I said mosh pit. Everything here was pretty unexpected and made me feel like I was in a time warp, where it was 1997. I recall that being a good year, so I was fine with that. The cover charge was $12 and there were four bands. There was some serious head banging -think White Zombie bassist style and the bands sold cassette tapes. Amazing. True gem in this neighborhood. Our bartender at The Well nearby strongly recommended us for the cool punk rock music and atmosphere, plus the Carmen fries. I love the unpretentious environment (this is after all in Bushwick, so if you're looking for posh and high maintenance - you are in the wrong neighborhood), music, cool bartender, good variety of drinks offered at a reasonable price and those fries! You would not expect this place from the look of it that it would have good fries. Those fries are so bad for ya - don't expect gourmet, but there's something about this 1,000 calorie food drenched in cheese that makes it so good. I found myself taking each fry and trying to scoop up more of that cheesy mess at the bottom to increase my satisfaction and calorie intake. This seems to worsen as the night grew and my alcohol consumption increased. I can understand why the bartender from the other bar down the street says the same for these fries. Walked into bar and stood behind chairs at bar waiting to order drinks. The two female bartenders working on 12/07/19 were not serving other drinks during this but did a very good job of walking back and forth to appear busy behind the bar. I then moved my position to against the bar after some people who were seated left to attempt to be noticed after 10 minutes of waiting to be approached by a bartender to order a drink. After about 20 minutes of waiting total, we left. Maybe we didn't appear metal enough? Maybe the pride flag on their door is a Brooklyn formality insinuating all are welcome but we only serve those who dressed for our scene? Who's to say but the service in my case was non-existent and I won't be returning to be ignored for another 20 minutes. To be so divey vibe wise, the food here is really amazing. The food is honestly the only attraction for me. Only because the overall vibe just isn't my scene. The music isn't my cup of tea and the service hasn't been anything to write home about. I've been 3 times and sat at the bar all 3 times. The beer selection is ok. The burger is amazing. The torta de pollo is delicious. And the buffalo chicken sandwich is banging. I literally just go for the food. Very limited menu with few selections. I opted for carnitas tacos. Not too bad, pork seemed to have too much seasoning for me.
