What a phenomenal shop, hands down. If this wasn't associated with the man, the myth, the legend, it'd still be a 5/5 no question. I got a Brazhoot of Happiness panini (the smaller option), and it was amazing. So much mozzarella, so much prosciutto, and the vinegar peppers balanced the taste so nicely. A little crunch, a little chewiness, some sour from the vinegar, and a lot of salt...what a combo. I also got an iced coffee drink, it was espresso poured over a coffee slush. Instagram brought me here and I couldn't wait to try the food. I had a few more places to go after this and didn't want to get too full, so I opted for a Caesar salad and a pistachio sfogliatella . Sabino was working the register and was incredibly friendly. Although I wanted to eat my sfogliatella later, he gave it to me first. It my first time ever having one and it was freaking delicious. It was warm and flaky with the perfect amount of pistachio filling. I def savored each bite and contemplated getting another one but ultimately decided not to. My salad came out shortly after and was better than I expected. The croutons were ginormous but also seasoned and worth each bite. The salad was tangy and had plenty of shredded Parmesan, which I loved! I got a chance to talk with Sabino a bit before he left. Because he had difficulty on the register, he gave me some later cookies which I thought was an incredibly nice gesture. I more than enjoyed my visit and already can't wait to come back! I had a late lunch at Bamonte's and asked for a Tiramisu. I was told by my waiter they're all out so I asked for the check all pissy and left. I remembered Casa Cugine isn't too far away. Are they open? Yelp says yes so I drove a few blocks and parked out front. Now I'm trying to remember what this place is, a social club? A sandwich shop like Lioni's heros? A bakery? Gelato? It's yes to all! I walk in after 5pm and see Cug inside. I'm not really sure what to expect. Does the guy insult you when you order? I was almost ready to hear: Hey tubby, how about some rainbow cookies? It wasn't like that at all, he seems like a really nice guy. The menu looks great, I ordered a Shaken Iced Espresso to go. While the counter guy is making my drink, I see all of the Italian cookie offerings. I grab a bag of Sesame S Cookies, I turned around and asked Cug: Did you make these? He laughed and said no. I grabbed my items, jumped in my Jeep and headed back towards the burbs. While driving, I took a bite of the sesame cookie. It tasted very fresh, like it was made today. The shaken iced expresso, had a nice balance of sweetness. Very impressed with Casa Cugine. Just a heads up for all the Willamsburg Hipsters, you aren't going to be sitting inside all day, sippin' iced coffee and using their free WiFi. It's not that type of joint. Grab your coffee or sandwich and GTFO. I work in the Ft Hamilton area so I rarely make out to Williamsburg. If you're in the area, stop in and support a great coffee shop. Oh my, where do I begin with my review?? It's quite short and simple since I just ordered delivery so I can only comment on the food itself but Casa Cugine has the BEST breakfast sandwich that I've EVER had! This is a fairly new spot that opened up a couple of neighborhoods away from me. I saw them on Uber Eats and decided to give them a try because the menu looked absolutely delicious! Lots of Italian sandwiches, some pastas, pastries, all the good stuff! I ordered The Morning Mozz. Came with eggs, mozzarella, hot soppressata and Calabrian Chili Aioli. You can substitute the soppressata for either prosciutto or mortadella. I opted for the prosciutto. My mouth is watering right now thinking of this sandwich! Just pure heaven that made my taste buds dance! The perfect combination of the freshest ingredients. From the light and fresh mozzarella to the quality prosciutto and the smooth aioli that wasn't overpowering. Couldn't get any better! The bread was soft with a nice crunch. Held up well with the ingredients. The iced cappuccino was also perfection. The sandwich was $12 the iced cappuccino $5. Good prices for amazing quality and portions. Everything was packed with care. Casa Cugine is a newer sandwich shop in Williamsburg, by influencer Danny Mondello (aka, Cugine). Currently, they're in their soft opening stage, but they have espresso, pastries, and even a cute section of imported groceries! We were able to do a walk-in and try their 'Ya Sista' with roast beef and caramelized onions, and the 'How Ya' Doin' with the chicken cutlet and broccoli rabe - both were stacked and made-to-order, coming out fresh. The staff and service were both friendly, welcoming, and kind - we loved checking out their groceries while we waited. There is a small counter inside for you to stand and eat, but you can always take your items to go and go to the nearest park to enjoy. Once I heard Cug was opening his own joint, I had to give it a try during the soft opening. I ended up ordering "Ya Sista" Given all the trash he talks online, I shouldn't have been surprised that once I started eating Cug's "Sista" ...it was some of the driest and floppiest roast beef I've had in the 5 boroughs. It felt like the meat had been pounded by a dozen Italian guys in the back freezer before getting to me. They tried to smooth it over with a nice pepper relish, but the damage had already been done. I'm keeping this review 4 stars because I'm sure his partners at Anthony & Son will help iron out the kinks. I'm a big fan of theirs. Like most guys on Hinge and Tinder, I'll come back and give Cug's "Sista" a few more tries before moving on to something I'd rather spend my time with at 1:34 am...a good chicken parm. PS...the first 20 yelpers that mention how funny this review is to Cug - get a free drink with their sandwich! And good luck to Cug. I really do wish him the best in the restaurant biz. This place is great for the neighborhood! An Italian American staple (to come!) in the neighborhood. Some of the best pastries, the tastiest coffee, the nicest employees and such great Italian American products. I didn't have the gelato but it will be on my to do the next time I'm there. I heard the hoopla about this spot so I decided to try it. I ordered the Toots sandwich , it was overflowing with meat as a proper sub should with great sauce, great bread and full of flavor. They offer a small selection of sandwiches ,Italian pastries , espresso and a stocked pantry of Italian goods. The shaken espresso was on point with some of the better ones Ive had around the world.
