Between two people. Got the Classic Nachos ($12), Veggie Burrito ($16), and a Spicy Margarita ($16). Margarita comes out first, okay amount of tequila and a hint of jalapeno flavor. Nachos aren't as large as expected, just a handful of chips individually covered in cheese with guacamole/salsa in the middle. Burrito is a lot better, filled with an assortment of marinated vegetables and topped with a verde sauce. They do provide for sauce as well. I had the nachos i Love nachos these were a 3 out of 5 . My 18 year old son had wings very spicy he said but he liked them also had the steak burrito which he didn't like he said it was bland. My mom had the cheese quesadilla she like it. My husband had the steak fajitas absolutely loved it steak nice and juicy but the steak in the burrito was bland my 9 year old daughter had the chicken burrito she said it was okay. Some things here are better priced. I came in here the last time with my hot woman friend. It was already pretty busy so there were only bar stools open. The place isn't that big so it fills quick. In search of Margaritas, we found Vera Cruz and I'm glad we did! I actually started off with a Paloma $14, but then realized the margaritas were $5 on happy hour, so I switched over for my next one. I love sitting at the bar, mingling with the bartenders and watching them create cocktails. Ash was teaching one of the other bartenders so it was cool to watch. We ordered Flautas de Pollo, and the tacos that were on happy hour, a $2 beef for my friend and mushroom for me. Also ordered chips and salsa of course. She recommended the watermelon-lime agua fresca - it was fresh and delicious, and I would love to get margs here on my next visit! A friend of mine has a two-state rule when it comes to Mexican food. He grew up in California and says that all of the best Mexican food occurs within two states of Mexico. Knowing this high standard to which he holds this type of food, I was understandably concerned when a third friend suggested that we stop for Mexican on our way to a birthday party. When we first arrived at Veracruz, I think they were quite busy and we had walked in at the same time as a number of other tables. The servers seemed pretty busy, and were actually less than enthusiastic about our arrival. But, they had $5 margaritas. We decided this was worth the wait. Not delicious, but they were strong! AND, they asked if we wanted salt or not, which is always nice. Considering how busy the waitress was, I was kind of surprised at her dedication to getting it right as opposed to just getting it out and getting on with the rest of her tables. I had the Vegetable Enchiladas ($10). It had a nice mix of vegetables, with more than just peppers and onions. The rice and beans were delicious. It could have used more of a sauce, as it was a bit dry. The salsa was decent, so I'd ask for a side of that to accompany the dish. We had places to be and were already late, so we didn't get too adventurous with the appetizers or desserts, but I'd go back to this place to try some other stuff. This place sucks for food. I've gone here twice to be fair, but it's really overpriced and the food is horrible. I dont see how it's hard to make enchiladas not taste amazing (its just beans, meat, and tortillas covered in cheese, except these didnt even have the cheese??) but here we are. My friend Julie and I stopped by VeraCruz last night after a walking tour of her part of Wberg. I had a craving for Mexican after a weekend full of Asian foods so after our walk we stopped here for some comida. I have to say I have had better Mexican food but VeraCruz is still pretty tasty. The Flautas de pollo con salsa verde was pretty tasty. Came with arroz con frijoles (rice and beans) for about $10 as did the Enchiladas del Pollo con salsa rojo (Chicken enchiladas with red sauce). They have sweet Iced Tea which was pretty delicious and fried ice cream, which I was very excited about BUT, decided wasn't worth the calories and fat for the flavor. The atmosphere in VeraCruz is pretty sexy. Rustic style Mexican ambiance, when I walked in, I felt like it was a place Zoro would have taken Cathrine Zeta Jones to. This place has a nice atmosphere with a covered garden and a bar, but I did not like the drinks or the food one bit. Their negroni was so bitter I could hardly drink it. My boyfriend ordered a margarita (for $6) & I ordered a sangria. His margarita was very STRONG, which was amazing, especially at the price. I wasn't a big fan of the sangria since I felt like it was too watery for my liking. We then ordered some food. I ordered the early bird special, which is offered Monday through Friday until 7PM. Not too sure what time it starts. Nonetheless, it includes a soup/salad and an entree for $10. I ordered the lime chicken soup, which was delicious, and a chicken enchilada. The enchilada came with yellow rice & red beans. The enchilada was okay. The food wasn't as hot as I would've liked it to be.... more like room temp. A burger in a Mexican joint I was skeptical but it was the best burger I had, juicy with Mexican cheese and steak fries. You can also remix your dishes with out no problem.
