The bartender was very kind and tried to fix the issue, but the solution offered was to add even more liquor, when the problem was really how overly sweet and poorly balanced the drinks already were. Truly the TURN UP spot in Astoria. The drinks are strong and the vibes are poppin. It's soooo lit here with the DJ and performers as well as strong drinks! The drink presentation is top tier!!!! They have a happy hour deal every day with their tapas and cocktails... even on a Saturday, which is when I went. On Saturday, I enjoyed my Santeria (which is sooo dope and instagrammable because they torch the rosemary and it's in a Skull cup). I could drink those all dang day there. I also enjoyed a margarita with a paleta which was adorable and delicious. The frozen marg in the Don Julio was strong but it felt like it was so tiny because it lasted for like a minute... we wanted more. Lol. While I enjoyed the strong drinks and the company I was with, the food took a long time to come out. I came here on a Saturday night for my best friends birthday celebration, a table of 20+ that was reserved over a week in advance and i can't even begin to explain how unprofessionally staffed this place was. To start with we ordered our drinks and it took AN HOUR to get them.. they brought over a pitcher of water with no drinking glasses. The food came out for some of us and people that ordered sodas got through half their meals before they received their beverages.. and only because we asked for them 3 times. I decided to give this place a second chance, even though I have been living in Astoria for years. Unfortunately, I found their service to be dishonest and unclear. I went in for Taco Tuesday, and while the tacos were decent, I ordered a house whiskey with soda to enjoy with my meal. When I finished and asked for the check, the server simply brought a machine with the total amount. I requested the actual printed check, and she went back to the register. I noticed she was making multiple trips back and forth. Eventually, she brought me the check, and I was shocked to find that they charged me $22 for the house drink, plus they automatically included a tip. In addition, table service was extremely slow for being one of a few customers only there. The place was decorated beautifully and all of the staff had day of the dead face paintings they all looked beautiful and it definitely made a cool vibe for Halloween. Found this gem in Astoria while taking a weekend trip up to NY with my boo. I must say we were pleasantly suprimes by this place! Upon entering, the place was all but empty, which I thought was strange for a Sunday evening in New York. I didn't have the highest expectations at first, but when we got our drinks and the appetizers (not pictured), my expectations were quickly exceeded. We ordered ceviche wontons - Oh. My. God. - and they gifted us with this cup of pea soup that was out of this world. I only wish I had taken a picture, but we ate it too fast. The elote was probably my least favorite item we ordered, but it was still pretty good, I really can't complain. All in all I really enjoyed the food, the service and the atmosphere. I truly enjoyed their drink recommendations, and our bartender accomodated my drink order changes without any difficulty! The kitchen was kind enough to send us small bowls of their homemade tomato soup to try, which was out of this world. It isn't on the menu, but it needs to be!!!! They gave us lobster soup on the house which was so sweet but we didn't realize they charged us $15 for guacamole (which I don't think we ordered but it was yummy so whatever). We had the guacamole, The lobster tacos, the mahi-mahi tacos, the ribeye tacos, and the chicken tacos. They are around $20 per two tacos, and the tacos are quite small, so you may need to order a few depending on how hungry you are. We had also ordered a few of the margaritas including the cucumber jalapeño one, which was very good!!! I enjoyed a delicious tequila and passionfruit shot at the bar while I waited. When my friend got there, we were seated in the dining room and ordered drinks and food. The dining room is stunning! I love the aesthetic of the restaurant and they put a lot of thought into the decor. There was a group of people having a birthday party in the dining room as well, and I can see this place as being a great spot for parties and events! All of the food we ate was delicious. Before our food came out, the manager brought out an elote amuse bouche for us which was a delight! We got our guacamole and quesadilla first, and after that, we tried 2 different types of tacos.
