Ernesto was our bartender always liked him cause he bartenders at my local doms. He has a lot of patience He's really sweet. He took his time helping my drunk friend get the jukebox to work. FYI the 8 is stuck on the jukebox. The place is very chill. We didn't like the bartender who took over after Ernesto left. We asked simple question and he man explained it to us, no bueno man, muy malo and rude. The pizza was so good. Pepperoni was on point and the cost was amazing. Came here for a social gathering event and it's a great low key dive bar complete with games for entertainment. There are two bathrooms, although well maintained in the early hours, it can get a bit messy towards late night. Food is alright when you eat it sober. read more

I went there with friends Thursday night and the pizza was amazing like usual from Jose. The bartender on the other hand should not be doing the job she is doing. She acknowledge me three times and continued to have a conversation with her friend in the corner of the bar, I'm sure you can review the cameras. I could understand if it was busy but there was no one at the bar or was she serving another customer. I've been there two other times and the guy bartenders were amazing. I don't know if she has been doing her job for a long time, but if she is not happy and does not want to serve customers. Or maybe she just likes to serve only her local customers. Either way should look into a job that she would be happy doing. It's so rude to look and acknowledge someone three times and each time continue to talk to your friend. Happy Hour is not bad. Think most of their beers on draft are from $4-6 until 8pm. $4 wells, a shot and pbr for $5. I walked in here to hang out after work with someone before a birthday. It was relatively quiet for happy hour. Which is great because I hate obnoxiously loud places. Nothing is extraordinary about the place. But for some reason, it has a certain amount of Irish charm and the bartender lady was friendly enough. Don't confuse this with Dominie Hoek's in LI city. I don't think they are even related. They also sell $4 margherita pizza during happy hours. It's sweet, simple and humble. Minus that drunk guy that was blasted in the corner. I swear I'm not talking about myself. Edit: Actually, I think this is co-owned by Dominie's Hoek. The lettering on the doors are way too similar for them not to be related. Though, this place still does not have an actual food menu and it looks totally different on the inside. "Dominie's Hoek", which is actually a Dutch bar (not Irish) means "Hunter's Point". Though, I beg to differ on all of this, because "Dominie" latin root word meaning "master" came into usage from the Romans in Scotland. And that is my b.s. spiel for the day. read more

Backyard like seating and smoking allowed? Pabst Blue Ribbon Beers plus a Shot for $6? What more can one ask for on a Sunday while looking for a place to continue day drinking after brunch? My boyfriend, best friend, brother and I stumbled across this place after having brunch on Sunday and wound up completing the remainder of our day here. We came in and ordered our drinks at the bar and proceeded to the back yard to sit, have drinks and smoke ciggs cause of course that pairs so well with drinking. I started off with Yuengling on draft which I was not a fan of...it was piss warm. Since it was my first time trying that beer, I thought it might've been the taste so I went with Lagunitas on draft next which I like but that was warm as well. Last choice was the best which was ice cold PBR which came with a shot of house whisky that I didn't drink. Beer was cold, conversations were flowing and cigarettes were burning on a hot sunny afternoon. The prices are very cheap to drink, the backyard is the highlight of this place and the inside is big. I don't believe they serve food because we saw some staff as well as customers eating outside food at the bar and in the backyard also. However, I happened to notice that they do have a small grill in the back so it's safe to assume that they might have BBQs on certain days. Besides the warm draft beer and dirty bathroom, I really enjoyed my time here and love the outside patio thing that they have going on. Will come back before the summer ends! read more

Beer and shot? Talk about a college throwback! YASS! Happy hour deals were also on point and the service was great. This is a great spot before dinner or after! However, the little devil on the shoulder is telling me to mention their chairs! I almost feel out of mine and my girl friends felt like it was going to break into a million pieces. A cool little place to wind down and chill after a crazy night at a club/lounge. they have board games in the back such as uno and jenga with intimate table set ups. they also had a live sort of indie jazz band which I really enjoyed. the pizza wasn't amazing but heck when you're drunk any food tastes good. mainly basing this review off the overall ambiance of the place which was pretty awesome and unexpected. read more

Another strong addition to the already decked out 30th Ave scene in Astoria, Dominies provides Queens folks with some very strong drinks, a laid back vibe, live entertainment, and even a free pool table. At first I thought this was another location for the same folks behind the uber popular Dominie's Hoek in LIC (http://www.yelp.com/biz/dominies-hoek-long-island-city) and while it still might be, I've learned "Dominie's Hoek" is apparently a Dutch name for "Hunter's Point." (#1) The scene like most pubs in the area is dark and intimate by some nightlife standards but a comfortable vibe. Each of the bartenders on various nights are generous with their pours and hospitable to folks at the bar. When there isn't live music on the weekends, there is usually a jukebox blaring in the background. Just in case the happy hour specials weren't enough, there is a decent beer selection and some fun cocktails. When I wasn't feeling like shots or beers, the bartenders were willing to throw together some concoctions to keep my boozing friends and I thoroughly lushed. Ever since the place opened I've been hearing some talk about featuring food. From what I understand, the menu is still being developed but there are some light snacks available. Most people have already figured out by the ATM that the place is cash only. Stopped in last night out of curiosity after seeing the changes being made to the exterior for a while now - wish I knew what the interior used to look like, but the spot had been closed for years/since before I moved to Astoria. Anyway, low key. Looks like they kept a lot of the old counter/bar setup as it has that antique look to it. Some nice bridge photos on the wall but a little more atmosphere would be nice. Although it was 10pm on a Tuesday,there were already some -toasted- people playing pool in the back. Very open and spacious feeling. Decent enough drinks at decent enough prices. I want to start of by saying that this bar is a fun pub, and I have been serval times and enjoy it, but PLEASE be aware of your surroundings and drinks. My friends and I went for drinks here on Wednesday night, and a Greek guy had roofied my friend. Thank god we noticed, and took her home. She was dizzy, almost fainted, fell to the floor, and her pupils were dilated. The guy kept following us around and wouldn't leave her. Finally we got him to leave. I tried calling the bar but their phone number was not working. I tried to contact them on their website, but that was not working as well. Please be aware, and if the manager can contact me, and look at the tapes from that night, it would be really helpful and appreciated it. I want to make sure it does not happen again. This place was better than I expected. I always know I'm enjoying myself when I stay longer than I had planned. They have a good $4 draft beer selection during happy hour. You can also get a $4 personal pizza from 5-8pm. It has SUPER thin cracker-like crust, but I like it like that. They have a jukebox. THEY HAVE A JUKEBOX!!! Dominie's is a really chill spot in Astoria. I'm glad it's adding a balance to the 30th ave Euro vibe. Don't get me wrong, I like the Euro vibe, but Dominie's adds another great bar to the super (maybe overly) trendiness on our Avenue. The sign right out front should give you a good idea about this place. It usually says something like "$5 shot & can of beer". And hey, we didn't get shitty well shots. We did however get PBR or Coors light. Not awesome, but for $5 how can you complain? I'm just guessing, but I think this is probably owned by the same people that own Dominie's Hoek in LIC on Vernon. They have the exact same facade. And I really like the blue with the two windows! The crowd is definitely a little different than other bars in Astoria, especially on 30th Ave. They often have live music and a lot of times it's really good! I met and saw Kana Uemura here. It was amazing! They have a drink called "The Admiral" which is pretty good. not sure if they have any other signature cocktails... time to go back! read more

No food yet and cash only so far, but a pretty nice joint to start off. This is a casual hangout place, no televisions in sight and music played at an acceptable level. Service was great, and it was full but not crowded. I hope it stays that way, though I know thats not too likely. I almost want to write a terrible review in order to keep Dominie's for myself. I might even attempt to hypnotize my wife into forgetting it. But, it's likely the other folks who have a good time will blab about it, and it can't survive on my patronage alone, so I guess I'll have to man up with my honest and positive recommendation to come here, have some good drinks, and hopefully some good food in the future. read more

It took me a long time to finally stop in Dominie's. This place is always bumping with a crowd, and it's deceivingly big. This is a great option for day drinking, or just having a quick pint with friends. The prices are awesome! That alone is reason enough to go back again and again. We came here for New Years Eve and the bartenders were attentive and the drinks were cheap and strong (But not so strong that you can't take it down). I call this place a "future dive bar." Drinks are reasonable, music isn't loud, pretension is nonexistent. It's all the best things about your typical Astoria old man bar, without the old men. It's a good place to catch up with a friend on a weeknight, but "hopping" enough on a Friday or Saturday night to go out with all your friends. Overall, laid back is the theme. Now there's also a pizza oven in the back, which I don't quite understand. read more
