I am going to give Doyles Corner 5 stars because the owner has always been nice to me. But because I like the owner I am going to give this review. My wife and I were there on a Monday night about 8 PM. Started out with two Margaritas. They were the worst Margaritas I ever had. They tasted like salted bath water with more salt on the rim. I think they must have run out of Triple sec. They were also served without straws. We listened to loud Rap music for the entire hour that we were there. Maybe someone put $10.00 in and played 30 songs so I will give them a pass on that (I guess). They could try to have a wider selection of music. The sliders were tasty and I know prices are high but $18.00. A glass of beer is $9.00. Maybe I'm getting old but $60.00? I think the lousy drinks started off the night on a bad note but they were really horrible! Someone should get a class on making drinks. The last thing I want to say .. If two people are shearing a meal, ask them if they would like two plates and give each of them there own utensils and napkins. Don't put everything in a lump in the middle of the table. Learn how to make drinks and serve tables. Treat the people at the bar and tables like you were trying to impress your mother and father. It would also help with your "tax free" tips. A little training would go a long way and maybe help fill up the empty tables that were there. If you want a few nice cold beers and some good food, give this place a try. The owner deserves it. An early senior citizen discount couldn't hurt either. Long live the old people :) read more

My wife and I have been regular patrons at Doyles for over six years. I just hate the changes in the food menu. Particularly the best flame broiled, juicy burgers they had any way you wanted. I always like med -rare and the beef was always top-quality! Tasty satisfying burgers. Gone - in it's place they have some smashburger which is mostly a big soft roll. I urge them to go back to what hey did best. We used to go weekly. Now maybe once a month. Change bad to the good burgers Doyles always had. read more

After skimming through some reviews, it is evident to see what the one star ones are about.. let me elaborate: Arrived with my boyfriend for a quick drink and we were turned away because "we didn't have our vaccination card." We are vaccinated. I suggested to my bf to present our vaccination cards in a photo he has in his phone, and unfortunately (whoever the bartender/or owner?) was, did not budge. He actually suggested for us to sit outside. In the pouring rain. His condescending demeanor seemed like he didn't want to serve us, and it made us feel uncomfortable -so we left. We realized that there were no POC upon leaving, (we are Latinos by the way). We came to terms that we were discriminated, -not a good feeling. Personally, I'm not a bad reviews kind of gal unless the experience was really bad. If it was meh, wouldn't even bother. But this one here took the cake. It's really messed up because we are locals. Always a good time. Cheap drinks, pool table, darts, jukebox and random nice people. It feels like a mom and pop bar. There is an older crowd here depending on the time of the week. They host karaoke sometimes which can be fun. ::bathroom alert:: This bathroom always struck me as odd. You can lock the door even tho its a bathroom with a stall in it. So anyone can come in and stand in the little area with you while you pee. I personalty like to lock the bathroom so I can have the whole thing to myself. But there is always that one drunk girl that knows the layout of the bathroom and bangs on the door. C'mon girl give a gal some privacy to pee. Waiting outside or inside is not going to make a difference your still waiting. The bartender does a lot of buybacks. Don't know what buybacks are? You should look it up because most drunkards know what this means. This is a no bullshit place so come for good times. Place looses a star because of the bathroom. read more

STORYYYYYY TIME! So Yato was in here, looking cool, downing screwdrivers at the suggestion of his date. Look, Yato really enjoyed those screwdrivers. Amazing. Then came the Irish Carbombs suggested by the bartender. Holy flying f**k did they hit after 3 of them. But you know what? Yato had a pretty good time. Played Train on the juke box and people sung along like they were in San Francisco. Prices were pretty fair, food was pretty good. Crowd was pretty chilled and staff kept it that way. This is how you run a bar. Everyone has a good time and everyone feels good. Everyone is looking after one another and the place stays chilled. No excuses. You want a good time, come in. Been here a few times with family and friends. Brandon, Paul and Vladimir make this a great place to visit. The food specials are phenomenal as recommended by Vladimir. In particular, the grilled calamari salad. Shrimp was very good as well as the chicken tenders. The burger is tasty and fries are light and crispy. My last visit was marred by codfish that had a very strong odor. Surprised the chef and waitress served it. Appreciate if an alternative is recommended instead. read more

So I've been hanging out in Astoria now for roughly about almost 3 years and am familiar with the Long Island City/Astoria part, the Steinway area (my fave!) and the Broadway into Ditmars part. I've seen Doyle's bar and walked by it now for almost a year and a half at this point...since July when my boyfriend moved up the block from this bar. It looks like a regular, Irish pub from the outside - charming, yet being a Manhattan native I've seen my share of Irish pubs and each time I walked by I wanted to hop in, but didn't because well...no real reason, but with so many bars in the area we just never made it in here. Last Friday I went to my beau's apartment from work, he wasn't home as he was doing laundry to prepare for his bestie from CT who was visiting and staying over the next day. We went in the direction of the Laundromat but realized we had 35-40 minutes to kill. He was flushed, a little clammy and not feeling so great. Wasn't entirely sure whether or not he had a fever, but definitely sure he was a little sick or coming down with something. He wanted a Hot Toddy and felt it would help make him feel better. I wanted an ice cold beer as I had a rough week, so I suggested Doyle's since it's on the corner and right by his Laundromat. SO HAPPY I did. This charming pub has many redeeming qualities: 1.) Newly remodeled - I had never seen the inside before so I honestly can't speak as to what it was like before, but now it's got comfy booths, dim sexy lighting (not too dark, just right!), simple/minimalistic light fixtures give it a nice, classy pub feel - was totally surprised as the outside (in my opinion) doesn't match the inside, this isn't a bad thing - just an observation. 2.) Bathrooms - Yes, this is a QUALITY. People go to bars to drink, drinks make us want to tinkle. Being able to tinkle in a clean bathroom is all too often a luxury at a bar. I literally stopped in my tracks when I entered a clean smelling bathroom with a squeaky clean new steel sink & faucet, clean toilets, perfectly kept stalls, no graffiti or etchings...it was amazing. One of the cleanest bathrooms I've ever seen at a bar. Awesome. 3.) Prices - Food menu is your average Irish bar foods, but everything sounds pretty delicious and I've heard that the Irish Nachos here are to die for. I'll definitely check them out next time I'm here. My boy's Hot Toddy (and other cocktails) are $6 (not awful, especially when it's heavy handed and well made). Jameson on the rocks is $6 and beers on draft (imported and domestic) are $6 all day, every day and I was really impressed to see Blue Moon's Agave Nectar on tap here along with Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier (a Hefeweizen style beer brewed by Bayerische Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan in Freising, German) which I totally got my boyfriend into. He described it as "oooh, that's refreshing!" and he's right. Not many Irish bars have a spectacular draft beer selection, kudos Doyle's :). 4.) Friendly Bartender - Friday night the man in charge of the bar was Brendan. Brendan is friendly a hoot and gave me a generous sample of Blue Moon's Agave Nectar in a pretty crystal class. He also makes a MEAN Hot Toddy. If I remember correctly he also had a light Irish accent. Winning. Doyle's is a real neighborhood bar and a great place to WATCH SOCCER on their wall-mounted flat screens, enjoy some food and have a good time away from college frat boys and other annoying folk. Also the jukebox here is FANTASTIC and was churning out awesome music - any bar that plays Johnny Cash and Arctic Monkeys gets several golden stars in my book. I was here last Saturday night after a long day of craft beers, pork, movies, bar hoping and I must say I had a nice time with the wife at Doyle's. Friendly bar with lots of regulars. Brendan the Bartender service with a smile. Did a good job making us feel welcome. No attitude. Fast service. Prices were dope...........$6 for a Jameson's on the rocks. Wow.......... Had lots of well place TVs through out the bar. Music at reasonable level. Overall a nice safe neighborhood bar. The kind of place you can walk in solo or with a group of friends. i dont booze but i do eat pub grub and down many diet cokes and doyles corner in astoria is a great place for both . sit at the bar or one of the many tables where you can enjoy full bar drinks or munch on traditional irish cuisine or typical american food like burgers, wings. tenders , pork chops , mac &cheese , etc. while my cuz is sitting at the left end of the bar drinking and sweet talking some random lady , i am on the right end of the bar watching college basketball on the many large screens and enjoying my chicken sandwich with fries no salt . the staff are nice folks and my glass of diet coke was never empty for long . overall a nice friendly irish pub to eat, drink , watch sports and hang with friends or with a cuz who thinks he is gods gift to the female world. read more

My family has lived near Doyle's for over thirty years and my first time stepping inside was in October 2019. Definitely can see how it has had such staying power--it's basically Cheers come to life! There were friendly regulars, a great and accommodating bartender, good beer prices and selections, and yummy bar food. Not a bad bar. I'm pretty sure I had a Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier here. But fake St. Patrick's day turns me fully Irish and I generally have no idea what I'm drinking or thinking. They have a pool table in here. Clean bar. Limited amounts on draft but enough to thirst your quench. Typical bar food that I did not try here but Stephy P. claims its pretty good. I am partial to UWS local bars but Doyle's seemed so much like them, I thought I was transported. The type of place where you can walk in 10 years later and nothing has really changed, the same regulars are sitting in their same favorite spots or throwing darts and shooting pool, and the bartender knows everyone. Doyle's Corner instantly made me feel like I was back at one of my regular haunts from years back. Immediately welcoming and efficient service, nice buy back policy and friendly regulars. It really doesn't seem to get jumping until much later in the evening. Lots of people know each other here, the vibe is friendly and the juke box has some great tunes. I could get hooked.... Excellent Dive bar! Moving out to NYC after undergrad, I found this as my local bar (2 blocks from my apt). It was always nice to head here after class or weekend late nights. I don't know if this is still the case but after I become more of a regular, I became privy to the fact they stay open past bar-time on weekends. I remember stumbling into there at 1am and out of there at 10am the next morning. It got slammed after about 5am, much better crowd than you would expect in Queens. Weeknight fights were common and hey, just add to the entertainment appeal. I miss Doyle's but always have a home away from home when back in the old stompin grounds. read more

Karaoke. Some people love to belt out their voices in front of crowds of strangers. Some people hate that. I feel like there are no in-betweeners that kinda like to sing bad songs in public. I'm a newby to NYC anyhow, so it's not that strange. Walking to Doyle's, I was reminded of Boston as we walked down what looked like 'Main Street' and passed residential houses and local stores. Not that Boston doesn't have a great city (I love Boston) but it's more low key. Astoria is definitely low key. Running from pub to karaoke bar, I was like, "Where are the real bars??" It seems I've been in Manhattan for too long already... Doyle's is a bit of a hole in the wall. Low ceilings, small area to move around and a very small, somewhat crowded space, right by the bathroom so-called 'stage.' Many, many songs...just go on up and take a slot of time, it won't be long of a wait. Not much sitting room as everyone gathers around the microphone to hear how horrible you'll sound up there. Some people aren't so bad...some were terrrribbble. See, this is where I come back to being a hater...why go to a bar to listen to people with no voice scratch their way through a popular song from 1998? Unless it's your friend up there cracking through the chorus, it's just plain annoying. 3 Stars for being the average Karaoke Bar. Nothing special. read more

Solid spot that's pretty low key, but fun enough not to be a drag like all the Irish Pubs on 31st Street. Bartenders are the best part, very authentic and entertaining. Burger is super solid too, in fact one of the best in this price point.
