Great prices, friendly bartenders. I like that there are a lot of tables in addition to the bar seating, and there is also a small outdoor area in the back. First off right next to the N train, lovely. The bar has a yard which is great if you smoke, personally I closed the door to the area. The music was on point playing late 90s early 2000s music which has my heart. The staff was chill AF. You get your drinks quickly here. Not sure if they have a food menu. Definitely would have ate if they did. The price is decent. ::bathroom alert:: Clean bathrooms, I appreciate that. The soap was fully stocked. This is going to be my new favorite bar in the neighborhood. My boyfriend and I moved in a month ago just when the World Cup was going on. It was packed everyday for different matches, mostly Croatia games. Now that the crowds have died down and we got a chance to go out, we walked in last night and instantly became obsessed. On a Saturday night, we had plenty of space to sit, walk, whatever without feeling over crowded by other people. They also have a back patio which I always find a to be a huuuuge bonus. I came to Daly's for Yelp Drinks last night with Kristen B. and had a pretty good time! I tried the Elderflower Collins, which was delicious. I've never had elderflower, Collins mix, or gin, and enjoyed all three in this lychee-like cocktail. For four drinks, and thanks to the Yelp Drinks discount, we paid only $16 ($20 after tip). The bartender was really friendly, and curious about Yelp Drinks as a whole, and even gave us his positive and cool thoughts on the other participating bars. One of the random, or rather eccentric moments of our evening was when a man came in who was throwing a spontaneous "welcome home" party for his girlfriend. He asked us to participate, bribing us with food. We didn't eat his food, but we joined in with the rest of the bar to welcome his ladyfriend back from Florida. I would definitely come back to Daly's, especially to try their other interesting cocktail concoctions. read more

What a great pub! We came here for superbowl on a Sunday night and this pub definitely delivered an amazing experience. Like a rail road style bar, they had TVs everywhere so it was practically impossible to miss any actions that was going on. Once the game started they lower the lights and their sound system was definitely spot on. The vibe is chill, the energy was pump and the bartenders where great! Everything was reasonable priced and their pub felt clean and certainly did not smell bad like some other bars that I've been to. read more

Stopped by Daly's Pub for a quick beer while waiting for some friends for dinner around 7pm. I love the ambiance in here with the copper finishes and simple decorations on the wall. It was nice seeing the syracuse flags on the walls. Didn't think there would be a bar in NYC that supported Western NY. I had to order a Guinness, seeing that its an Irish bar. Plus it helps that is my favorite beer. The bartender at the time poured the perfect pint for me. I ended up reading the other reviews for Daly's Pub and will definitely be back for their Bloody Mary at one point or another. I did love that they kept the Macallan and Jameson on their own separate shelves. The one thing I didn't like was the 20$ minimum when you pay by card. I probably should have asked prior to ordering the beer but maybe letting me know ahead of time would be good, I just wanted to stop for one beer not order drinks. Thankfully I had some cash... All in all, Daly's a great neighborhood pub in a sea of hipster bars. It makes me sad that the places serving Guinness' are slowly disappearing. read more

Went here with some friends this past weekend looking for some Friday night bar time. Its wasn't too busy but the bartenders were still nasty. They asked for IDs after each drink purchased, the beers seemed old and stale and cocktails were sub par as well. The one good thing they had going for them that night was the music. Came here on Friday night for an event my boyfriend's good friend was throwing. It was a charity event in which plates of delicious homemade pasta, meat balls, salad and Italian bakery cookies were sold to raise money for her track team's cancer research efforts - Lymphoma society to be more specific. I didn't really get to enjoy the bar as a bar since I (this is shocking, I know) didn't drink any alcohol here at all. I enjoyed a pint of ice water here with my food because I was on a budget this weekend (which I eventually went over on my credit card anyway...sigh) and admission to this event was $13, which turned into double that since I covered my boyfriend's admission also since I owned him from when he paid for dinner the Sunday prior for me and my guy friend...yep. Anywhoo, I think it was really cool of this bar to let them host this event. I got a really nice community feel here. As a bar this place is a pretty cool, low-key, neighborhood Irish pub with regular pub prices, dim lighting an outdoor patio and wooden seats/tables. The temperature on this particular night was chilly outside and perhaps it was because the backdoor was left open for periods of time, but I was freezing inside. I would come back seeing as their happy hour is decent, the clientele isn't douchey and its right by the train. More of a 3.5 rating that could easily turn into a 4 if I went back and had a proper bar night here, lol. read more

This is a great neighborhood bar. It gets fairly busy on the weekends, but it's never been packed when I've gone. A couple times I've gone, they've had a DJ, who has put up with my friends and I and played all our requests for dance-y pop music. They also have a small backyard which has a long bench and a couple of tables. I live right around the corner from Daly's and I should like it. Hell, I should love it. The bar is gorgeous, well maintained, littered with interesting artifacts and ample seating. The beer selection is pretty good, but they have had a couple tapped out selections each time I visited. Also it is located right next to the train, and everything seems perfect for an after work, watch the game, shoot the bull with friends spot... but it isn't for 2 main reasons. 1. The sound system is AWFUL. - I have tipped a glass at many a bar, but this may be the worst sounding bar I have visited. The music selection jumps from country to gangster rap to awful nu-metal to classic rock and back again with no direction. It is like everyone in the bar put their ipod's together on shuffle. But it isn't just the selection, it is the volume. One song will be quiet to the point of barely being able to hear it and the next blares so loud that you need to shout to be heard by someone 1 foot away. This bar needs an audio overhaul badly. The sound is bad enough to make me not come back. 2. The bartender was not the friendliest. - I get it, people have bad days. Sometimes people are just grumpy. But when I order a beer and the bartender rolls his eyes, gives a crappy pour and then snatches the dollar tip off the bar like I was about to take it back it doesn't make me want to trade my money for their beverages. This happened two separate visits. Neither time did the bartender make me feel welcome or wanted. I don't need to be entertained, don't need a new buddy or conversation about our favorite things. But at the very least be cordial. So, as an honest recommendation: If you would like to see beautiful old bar and be assaulted by horrid audio and scowled at for no reason Daly's is the place for you. read more

This place has a bit of everything, so many patrons will love this place. It's a casual bar without a hipster ambiance (thank you) that has live music acts, a DJ, karaoke and good, cheap drinks (check their Facebook fan page for more info: https://www.facebook.com/DalysPubNY). While the drink selection is your typical stuff, they sometimes have free pizza on Sundays and BBQ food during the summer. The space is small, but it's not that bad and can comfortably house 60 people at once (emphasis on "comfortably"). I like the fact that it does events and free food because it caters to a more friendly vibe with customers. P.S.: Every Super Bowl Sunday, they have a all-you-can-eat BBQ buffet with purchase that is SO good. Get there about an hour early to get the best eats before they're gone :P read more

I've watched Daly's Pub grow from a calf to a bull. Although I missed the adolescent years and nearly forgot about it, I was reintroduced earlier this year to see how much of a stud it has become. From its humble beginnings, where they didn't take credit cards and the kitchen wasn't open, Daly's has evolved into it's full out hang out joint. The bartenders are witty and easy to talk to. Sunday football can't be beat. They serve food all day long as you watch whatever game is playing. That alone upgrades to 4 stars...other than that though, a good bar. read more

A cold snap outside calls for an after-work round of brews and a warm pub, Daly's pub. We walked into a silent Daly's (which was a little awkward) but was greeted warmly by a few regulars already arranged around the bar. It was an unexpected greeting to receive from a New York bar. I dig the laid back vibe at Daly's. It's a traditional Irish pub with the heavy, dark wood decor. It's warm and inviting during the winter - the kind of place that would really benefit from a fireplace and a comfy sofa tucked in the back. We were initially drawn in by the prices for happy hour, $5 draught and weren't disappointed. There was also a basket of crisps to enjoy with our brews. That was a sweet little bonus. Two Guinnesses and some good conversations we were ready to head out and brave the cold again. Wish we had stayed a bit longer to play Golden Tee or to check out the workings of the smartphone driven juke box. Daly's is really comfortable, like a hug from back home when you're lonely. I went here with Alexandra K. for the Yelp Drinks event. I had the Elderflower Collins and the Stout Russian. Both drinks were really good, though I have to admit I'm not sure I would pay full price for either of them (they are normally $8). The Elderflower Collins was especially tasty -- I would recommend trying this if you want to get a sense for what St. Germain tastes like in a cocktail. I had never had it before and was quite pleased with its unique flavor. Also, I loved the ambiance at Daly's. Dark, pub-like, and no food served meant it was pretty empty. I like my bars like that: a little deserted so you have the barkeeper's full attention. I actually dragged my boyfriend back here a few days later so he could check it out (and because he HAD to try the Elderflower Collins!). read more

I really enjoy Daly's. Whether I'm just looking for a quick drink or two, or to catch the game, it's pretty great. First of all, the bar itself looks fantastic. It has all the charm of a dive, with none of the filth. It's very easy to feel at home. The crowd is always mixed, and that's a good thing. It feels like a hometown bar, and it should. Bartenders are all awesome - Gavin, Ruari, and Jason are always on their game and just generally fun to be around. Very pleasant, but natural, if that makes any sense. Good guys. Always remember us when we come in, and usually what we're drinking. As someone who has tended bar before, I definitely appreciate that. They have both NFL and MLB packages. They've been doing free pizza during the football games every Sunday, and never give me shit for requesting the Red Sox game during baseball season. Not yet, anyway. Beer selection is strong - about 12 or so on tap with various bottles too. Typical Irish pub line-up. I'm a bit of a microbrew guy, so there's not much in that regard, although they've had Goose Island IPA on tap the last few months and that usually satisfies my hop cravings. Though it wouldn't hurt to rotate that with a different IPA once in awhile. If that's my only criticism of this place, I think they're doing a pretty awesome job. Prices are very reasonable, and they serve True Pints - which sadly, is rare these days. They do not have a kitchen, but I see that as a positive. You can have whatever you want delivered right to the bar. What's better than that? Throw in darts and Golden Tee, and there's plenty for my ADDD (Attention Deficit Disorder while Drinking) ass to do when the game is over. Yeah, it's another Irish Pub in Astoria, but it's better than another of the countless, creepy, skeevy lounges that it boasts. Completely unpretentious with a chilled out energy, this place has won me over as the go-to spot among the many other bars in the immediate vicinity. I've been here when it's been real busy on Super Bowl Sunday and at slower times on a regular week night, and the relaxed atmosphere remains the same. The drinks are inexpensive. Pints of Guinness are poured just right by attentive bartenders who give buy-backs. The few times that I've been here, the bartenders have been really nice. Kerry always has a smile and a kind word to share. On one visit, I dropped my hat and thought I lost it but Jason kept an eye out for it, found it and returned it, which was much appreciated. I'm going to confess, I may have seen Daly's pub through rose-tinted (or most likely in this case whiskey-tinted glasses). Daly's pub was kind of a dark and dingy place right underneath the bridge to the Broadway Station, it looks a little like a dive bar mixed in with a pub. The first impression is difficult to shrug off, right underneath the subway, black tar painted door and signs, it looks like the love child of a dive bar and a good old fashioned Irish fighting pub. At first when my boyfriend and I entered the bar we ordered our drinks and sat down in the corner somewhere and watched the game that was on. Soon I got bored, sat at the bar and started chatting to an old man about Astoria. Again, top tip for people that go to bars: talk to some of the regulars they have interesting stories. He told me that he had lived there most his life and didn't ever plan on leaving because why would you? Astoria is great! I smiled and joked and laughed, talked about where I was from and after about 30 to 40 minutes, rosy cheeked and significantly intoxicated left his side to rejoin my anti-social boyfriend. Finally when the game ended, we found a space at the bar, shuffled up and the bartender placed two shot glasses in front of us. "From Tommy" he noted. Tommy was the man I was talking to. It made me stupid happy, I ordered two Jameson shots and the bartender gave me a double because... and I quote "Why not." Here's the thing about bartenders on a busy night... it's busy and they're going to seem cranky but really if you chat with them and smile (and evidently be REALLY DRUNK but friendly enough) they'll be nice to you. I shuffled over to Tommy, patted him on the back and drank my shot to his good health and then... regretted drinking the shot when I inevitably was paying homage to the porcelain gods 4 hours later (we've all been there.) Aside from what would appear to have been a messy night, when I look back on it I realized the people were amiable and, despite the awkward introduction, Daly's pub has a warm aura; I just had to dig for it. I would probably go when there was less noise, primarily because I enjoy my pubs with little to no music at all but that's just preference. My boyfriend even noted that if we lived in Astoria he would probably become a regular of Daly's and that's the highest honor that I can bestow upon a place. It's simple, it's a good place for a good beer, with (hopefully) some good people. Chat with them, because you'll never find out if you don't. Things that are noteworthy: The minimum charge for card is $20 but that included two beers and two Jameson's and Gingers which is pretty damn good for New York. read more

I have been popping by Daly's for trivia night on Tuesday and I have to admit it is quickly becoming my favorite pub in Astoria. It's also my favorite trivia night, period.
