Great place to have a quick drink. Found this place when I got to work early for my new job and have come here 3-4 times already. They continuously have 12 local taps. And you can bring food to eat (my shift is usually at 6pm and I leave my house at 4 so it's a little too early to eat at home). They also have 40% off to go cans in their fridges. My partner found some destihl pickle beer that he really likes and I regularly stock up from here. They sell by can so it's great to just try single cans at a decent price.

Great craft beer bar in Sunnyside. Happened to be near a friend in Sunnyside and grabbed some drinks. Very nice extensive menu of beer with a great older gentleman of a bartender. Friendly and knowledgeable. Fridge has a good assortment of brews including header topper/focal banger for those in need. Right across from the stairs up to the 7 train as well. Definitely would come back when nearby.

I was walking by and noticed sweet avenue was finally open! Decided to go in and check it out, and I'm glad I did! They have a selection of various beers, IPA, seltzer's and ciders! And if you take them to go, they are 40% off! While I was paying , the bartender had informed me that he also makes cocktails upon request, which was really cool. If you're close, you should stop by and check this place out!

What caught my eye was the 40% off sign for take out beers. I went inside and was pleasantly surprised. I saw the bar and the open window fridge with all kinds of craft beers. I've never seen some of the beers before so it makes me want to try them all and the 40% off discount is tempting as well. Plus when I went to check out one of the beers the bartender said if I pay by cash, he will take off tax. There's ample seating inside so if you want to drink inside you may. I asked about taking out the draft beers and the bartender said you can with the 32oz growlers. Pretty cool. I'll be back sooner vs later.

Opened in 2021, Queens gets its own bottle shop and tap room. Located in Sunnyside, by the 7 Train 40th St-Lowery St station, this dark-hued, laid-back space is great to have a beer at, either at the bar or on tables. When the weather is nice, the front windows are wide opened, making the space brighter and airier. Typically 12 drafts are offered, spanning almost as many beer styles. Selection changes frequently, and tap take-overs are common. Most beers are local, all craft, all quality. Depending on the beer, one can usually choose from 8 or 12 oz pours, sometimes 5 oz, all served in their branded Teku glasses. I've never visited during prime times so when I go, there's just one bartender; all have been knowledgeable about the selections. As a beer shop, to-go options abound. A great selection of beers located in refrigerators by the entrance, which can be drank on-site, but discounted 40% to-go. Any draft can be purchased in 32 oz crowlers to go. Beers can also be purchased online, for pick-up or delivery. I'm not typically in Sunnyside but as luck would have it, my dentist's office is across the street so I'm guaranteed to make a visit at least once quarterly. It's a wonderful spot to have locally, to swing by and have a beer or two, then take some home.

So great to have a good beer bar and bottle shop. Great folks working there and impressive selection. They also have some wine and cider for non beer drinkers. Going to be coming here a lot

It's a pretty nice sports bar with large TV screens throughout the place so will definitely be on my list of places to hit up to watch a few games! Overall food and service was on point, but also it was a random weeknight where there wasn't a crowd. Either way, recommend this bar if you're looking to grab a bite or watch a game! Classic Waygu Burger - 4/5 Great tasting and juicy burger, but one thing I wish was included was a side of fries at bare minimum. Cook of the meat was on point Disco Fries - 5/5 - Think of it as poutine but with mozzarella instead. Great side dish to a burger

What to make of this place?…read more When we visited in September (at that time), a wanna-be sports bar had just taken over the Greek taverna Blue Sea Taverna (before that, two iterations of Akrotiri). Both Greek tavernas had failed or gone out of business. So we were curious to see what changes had been made. When we entered, we were initially confused because the seating, especially the lounge seating, did not create a sports bar vibe. Even adding a bunch of TVs did not give us that feel either. Instead, our initial impression was that they were trying to convert an old Greek taverna into a gastropub, similar to other well-known ones in the area. And I should also add we had not been following the local news about the controversy regarding their name association with a World War II fortified bunker that was blown up at the end of the Second World War, and only read about the controversy over their name after we left, and on social media. Apparently, the owner(s) were most likely unaware of its historical context when naming their establishment. So we did not factor that into this review. Upon entering the Wolf's Lair, the seating was that of a modified Mediterranean restaurant. We chose the comfy seating looking out towards 29th Street and 30th Avenue. It had been raining heavily, and so we were just glad to be inside. Because our initial impression was that we were in a Mediterranean gastropub, we ordered lamb chops with lemon potatoes. The waiter, who may have been one of the owners, informed us that this vegetable was not on the menu; however, when our chops arrived, as you can see from the photos, we were indeed served lemon potatoes. We got what we ordered, which made us happy, and the chops were cooked to perfection. As we usually do not drink alcohol, beverages were not factored into our review. However, there was one thing we found a little strange and creepy. When we left, one of the employees, presumably an owner, insisted on coming out to help take photos. This was a little off-putting. Nevertheless, we got some good shots. In writing this review, we spent a lot of time deliberating our experience at the Wolf's Lair. We focused on the restaurant, service, food quality, and atmosphere. While the overall experience was excellent, we did not find Wolf's Lair to have a sports-bar atmosphere, but rather a family-dining atmosphere. On the day we visited, there was hardly any action at the bar, and most of us seated were into the food, if nothing else, with one family having a birthday party for one of their children. Overall, we had a good experience. Whether we come back to see if the Wolf's Lair becomes an actual sports bar, well, that's another matter.

It is the last original beer garden remaining in New York City. On a hot summer day, the Beer Garden just off 31st street is the place to come and relax, watch a game or event, or, at other times, attend a civic or social meeting with local elected officials in one of their private rooms or the main auditorium. I was here last July to hang out and hold an outdoor meeting about a local park in Astoria. We had a choice of burgers, mac and cheese, pizza schnotzel, beer-battered onion rings, and various fried foods. However, there is one aspect of going to the Beer Garden that I ABSOLUTELY HATE, and that is bouncers frisking down visitors or asking customers to show an ID. In my opinion, that is a turnoff and unnecessary action taken, for orderly, polite adults, and makes you feel as if you are in a strip club, and thus an invasion of the person's right to privacy. I recommend, yes, but it is best to go when you want to attend a group event.

The second time, we had to deal with stupid bouncers or security guards before being let into their bar/pub. That's a huge turnoff for me, and it's only worth it for strip clubs and concerts. Sweet Afton is a hip Irish-style pub known for its craft cocktails, extensive beer selection, and upscale pub fare. It has a cozy interior with exposed brick and a sought-after outdoor garden area that is enclosed in the winter.  A few of their menu items include "Astoria's best burger" (using Pat LaFrieda beef), the Dirty Pickle Martini (featuring McClure's pickle juice), and beer-battered fried pickles. I learned that they have a sister pub called the Bonnie in Ditmars, which I have been to and had a great time. Last Saturday I came back for a third time. I was surprised at how things had changed; much more laid-back, with good customer service, good vibes, and one of the most delicious bar burgers I have ever eaten, with a side salad, in any pub or establishment in Queens. Furthermore, Sweet Afron had some nice alternatives to bear and larger, and I selected a cider instead. First, I was offered a sip, and then, upon my approval, a full glass of cider. In conclusion, I do plan to return!
