This is a great local spot to hang out with friends and enjoy wonderful brews. Your choices are never ending as the refrigerators a full with all kinds of drinks ranging from ales, ciders, hard seltzer to sours. My preference is the sours and my choices were countless. The atmosphere is very casual and laid back. Music plays in the background which matches my taste, Phish, Grateful Dead and the like. Andrew supplies a small menu of perfect food to compliments your drinks. I have tried his grilled cheese which was outstanding and the hot dogs which was what the doctor ordered along with my sours. Top flight beer shop. Eight taps on draft. All were local, craft options with a nice variety of styles. Probably the best can and bottle selection in NYC. Their fridges are filled with regional craft breweries with a huge variety of styles. Laid back atmosphere. Seemed like the other patrons were all regulars. This place has a good selection of beers, particularly local beers and my favorite, Double IPAs. However, the owner, Andrew, is an absolute sh*tbag. My husband says that Andrew has "the charisma of a piece of toast." He doesn't seem to understand that in the United States, it is customary NOT to tip the proprietor of an establishment --one need only have watched "Gilmore Girls" to know this piece of information (PS Andrew - I always tipped if someone other than you served me). He is vindictive to customers who don't tip him. Also, he frequently serves his vegetarian chili cold, and my husband says that he is skimp-flating on the bratwurst sandwiches. The bodega up the street has a decent selection of canned beers, and I'd recommend just going there and getting them to go rather than dealing with this bullsh*t. Oh, also, Andrew is *always* smoking weed on the job. Hey, he's the owner and can do what he wants, but when he leaves the windows open in summer, you can always smell pot inside. Gross. read more

I am hesitantly writing this because Nemos is the best kept secret in forest hills, and I selfishly don't want it to get overcrowded- but they deserve it. This place is awesome- so many high quality beers to choose from that you can't find anywhere else, amazing food from local purveyors, and a welcoming and relaxed space to relax or have fun no matter what kind of day you're trying to have. With its launch announced in late 2019 and meeting with understandable challenges (what with the pandemic and all), I was delighted this weekend to see that, at long last, Nemo's Beer Shop is open for business! Granted, Forest Hills NYC does offer a variety of pubs and drinking establishments, but one ENTIRELY and seriously devoted to the fine craft of beer was long-desired and sorely needed. The space is on the small side but comfortable, focusing on the practical: a few tables, a bar (with 8 local beers on tap available in 5oz tasting portions as well as 8/12/16oz draft), and several refrigerators along the wall sporting an impressive array of approx 60 locally-brewed beers, along with a small variety of local snacks (pretzels and jerky), with just enough tables and counter-space to accommodate a outing with friends or one simply wishing to grab a solitary drink in passing. While this may be my sole and subjective bias, but what was personally appreciated was the absence of a television and an overly noisy and obnoxious "sports bar" atmosphere -- as if the owner deliberately intended on cultivating an establishment (true to its name) singularly devoted to the appreciation of beer itself and the comradery to be found among those who appreciate such. This will be short and succinct. The owner doesn't understand people, which is sad for a proprietor. He was rude and idiotic. Came in with my dog. Stood there for 5 minutes looking at the selection (which was nice and why he didn't get a single star) in order to grab something to go. My dog is super cute and all the patrons were petting him and wanting to meet him and so I didn't care. I looked toward to owner and he gave me a stink face. I asked him why and long story short he didn't want to dog there but didn't have the balls to say anything to me about it. Mind you, I live around the corner and would've dropped the dog off and came back to pick up beer. Honestly I would've spent more if he just acted like a man and said what he wanted. Clearly was bullied in high school. Asked my buddy who lives around the corner and confirmed the owner is a weirdo. Avoid this place. I want it to succeed because I love beer but this dude is hurt and needs a crash course in human. Fuck him. read more

Not a comfortable friendly vibe. Very stand off ish vibe. They are not interested in making money if they were they would have asked if I wanted another drink. Instead a guy who worked there just came by and grabbed my empty cup without a word or eye contact. I will stick to my regular spot Cobblestone pub down the block. Better vibe and friendly. I live in Forest Hills and I've been to this place a few times in the last few months with some friends and let me tell you their beer doesn't taste any better then a cheap beer or ale from the 99 cent store. I really don't like to write bad reviews to businesses especially with the pandemic and how bars/ restaurants are struggling to make ends meet today, but I really have had it with this so called owner that was beyond rude to me after I stopped by and used the restroom. I have come as a customer a few times and really needed to make an emergency restroom stop. Since I had patronized his establishment before, I didn't think it would be a big deal to quickly use the restroom. When I got out of the restroom the owner was very rude and nasty to me, telling me to never come back to his bar. I asked him why and he said because I wasn't spending money and that my type shouldn't be allowed to come to his place. Walked by the in-construction storefront for two years waiting for Nemo's pandemic-delayed opening. I'm delighted to report it was worth the wait. Really nice staff, terrific beers, and a super nice space with big open windows to the street. Super friendly neighborhood spot - perfect for just dropping in, grabbing a pint and texting your friends to let them you'll be there for an hour or two. I've already done that a couple times and wound up with a group of 4-8 people all sharing beers and stories. It's the perfect post-pandemic neighborhood spot to see people IN PERSON and have some great beers while you're at it.
