One of the best breweries in NYC! Friendly, attentive service, delicious food vendors, and fun weekly events such as bingo and trivia. I tried Friday trivia this weekend and the host and participants made it so fun. Huge space and great ambiance. Delicious quality beer. Our burgers were phenomenal from the toaster, fresh brioche buns to the sauce.

This is an excellent brewery as well as a music venue! We came out here to listen to some friends perform, and this place was excellent acoustically! They have a ton of excellent beers and cocktails available as well as a few food items (just variations of pretzels). If you need food, you can also go across the street to Astoria Pizza Factory and order some food to bring here. I also appreciate that this place has movies playing on their projector screen (shoutout to Lord of The Rings playing today) as well as a multitude of board games. Honestly such a sick spot that is relatively easy to get to!

Every single one of my beers was delicious but different and complex. It has a great atmosphere, really good music and the clientele is chill.

A table and a mini bonzai tree...who knew such a scintillating convo may ensue...Not I. In and effort to I don't know, blend in? I just continued the convo. Oh wait, this isn't a TED talk. Apologies there. Beers, you are here for the BEERS. Great selection and ample seating including outdoors. No heat lamps that I saw so I'm not sure when winter comes what that area would be. In terms of food, they just have snacks so you may be wise to eat before coming. This brewery is a bit off the beaten path but it is still among some of the best beers you can find in NYC. For that reason alone, it is worth the trek every time. Fan.

Astoria is known for many hip spots, and there's a not as much talked about brewery. It doesn't get much attention because it's kind of hard finding. SingleCut is high quality stuff. Good for small gatherings. They have a decent sized beer list and some food too. Bad thing is getting here. It's inconvenient. This is out of the way. It's located in an industrial part of Astoria. The closest subway is the one on Ditmars Avenue, so it's a bit of a walk. But just find a way to get here. Some seriously good stuff, and it's not just a bunch of IPAs. I like the Weird and Gilly. It's about $6 for a pint. This is a lightly hoppy IPA that's pretty smooth. As for the food, it's mostly typical stuff at a bar. They have big pretzels . It's about $6, which kind of seems like a lot until you see how big these are. They're fucking massive. It would be one of my more frequent spots if it wasn't so inconvenient. It's a hassle getting here. The subway is the best way if you're coming from out of Astoria, and then just walking.

    Enjoyable beer from Singlecut!

Enjoyed trying out this New York brewery! Softly Spoken Magic Spells was the beer Steve and I had from this brewery and we liked it pretty well! This beer was a double IPA with a very good hoppy and citrus flavor features to it. Lots of other promising beers from this brewery but we only were able to try the one. That just warrants a return visit I guess!

Sorry, SingleCut. I want to get my review apologies out of the way early. You see, I've been to you twice over the last year or so and for some reason or another, I just never reviewed you. It's not because I didn't like your setup or your service or (most importantly) your beers. Most likely, it was just bad timing as I was busy and couldn't put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard)...until now. Let's get out of the second person perspective and talk a little more naturally about this Astoria-based brewery. My first visit was way back in November and like I said, things went smoothly with quality beers (heavy on the IPAs) and a little sustenance to go along with those suds. More recently (on Memorial Day), was my second trip and since that day in late May I've wanted to note the vibes of Singlecut. With a name such as theirs, you wouldn't be surprised to find nods at rock and roll (and music) in general. Guitar head tap handles and a respectable shelf of records (with the current jam displayed above a record player) are helpful in emanating a chill sense of suds and sound. Enough about the ambiance. Let's focus on what's drinkable. SingleCut dabbles in several beer styles from stouts (such as "Eric More Cowbell!" which is a solid milky ale) to sours ("Terry Meets Julie" has a nice tartness) to plenty of everyone's favorite, IPAs ("Glam!"). I've enjoyed these varieties, as well as a couple of other intriguing concoctions ("Workingman's Cut Nitro Cream Ale" does the trick). Having said that, not every brew can always be a winner ("Dean Mahogany Pale Ale"...meh), but most will please the palate. There was also a mention of food which, back in November, seemed more prevalent than the more recent trip which basically offered pretzels of a few forms. My buddy and I split a truffle cheddar one (for $7) and found it decent, though honestly nothing entirely special. I wouldn't necessarily bank on what's edible at SingleCut, but they do have the beer flowing fine which is most important anyway. Overall, SingleCut Beersmiths is a solid borough brewery worthy of a visit. Their setup is a little unique with a strong point towards rocking out as are their decent range of beer offerings. Yeah, some might be "one hit wonders", but for the most part, SingleCut is worthy of multiple visits and a beer spot I'm glad I finally churned out a review for (even if a little belated).

They have trivia on Friday's! While they don't have a full menu *yet* they allow and encourage you to bring your own food in. Often times they have a food truck or you can pop across the parking lot and get Chinese or pizza!! Such a great spot to hang out on the weekend!

We came in on a busy, sunny Saturday afternoon. The place was full but we managed to find a table inside. People were spilling outside because it was such a nice day. You order your beer at the bar and you can start a tab. Unfortunately, they don't offer flights. Instead, they offer small sizes. So, kind of like a flight. The beers all have fun, I'm-sure-this-is-an-inside-joke names. My friend and I were happy with the four beers we tried. The menu describes them very well. It was quite loud inside and therefore hard to have a conversation. The Saturday crowd drew quite a few bachelor parties too. It's a cool place anyway, and I would come back for the beer.

Food: 3.5/5 We made it a point to try a range of brunch options. My grandfather ordered the sweet potato and chorizo hash, I went with the two-egg combo with pork sausage (eggs over easy), and my husband chose the Moroccan eggs. Overall, the food was good and flavorful, especially if you enjoy dishes with a bit more nuance and influence from Spanish or Mexican flavors. That said, as someone who leans more toward classic American diner-style brunch, it didn't fully hit that nostalgic spot for me. It's not that anything was bad--it just wasn't the most memorable brunch I've had. Still, it was nice to explore a different side of their menu beyond the burgers, fries, and pasta we'd tried before. Service: 4/5 The staff were genuinely kind and welcoming, which made the experience pleasant. However, they do rely on a QR code-style menu, which can be a bit of a learning curve--especially for those who prefer a more traditional ordering experience. During the brunch rush, things definitely got busy and a bit overwhelmed, so service slowed down slightly. One tip: if you already know what you want, it's best to order everything upfront to avoid delays. Vibe: 3.5/5 Like many New York spots, space is tight. Even as a party of four, we were seated at a small square table, which could be challenging if you have strollers or extra belongings. That said, the space still feels cozy and neighborhood-friendly--great for a casual brunch, just not the most spacious. All in all, It's a solid neighborhood brunch spot with interesting, flavor-forward dishes and kind service. I wouldn't call it my top brunch destination, but I'd come back if I were in the area--especially if I was craving something a little different from the usual diner fare.

It was…read morefounded by business partners Damian Brown, Chris Gallant, Steve O'Sullivan, Kirk Voltz and Niall Henry. O'Sullivan came up with the idea to start a brewery in The Bronx in 2009. To make this idea a reality, he enlisted the help of Brown (a homebrewer), Gallant (a former executive for Heineken), Voltz and Henry. Launching in 2011, the brewery initially started out simply as a brand that gypsy brewed with the help of the now defunct Cottrell Brewing Company in Pawcatuck, Connecticut. Bronx Brewery was the first brewery to launch in The Bronx since Rheingold Brewery left the borough in the 1960s. The first brew that Bronx Brewery launched was "Bronx Pale Ale". By 2014, the partners opened their own brick & mortar brewery at a former lace factory in the Port Morris section of the Bronx. A secondary taproom opened in Manhattan's East Village in late 2018, but closed in early 2025. A third taproom opened in The Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards in Manhattan in November 2022. Although most of the company's co-founders have moved on to other ventures, Brown still serves as the head brewer. I visited the Bronx Brewery this past summer while I was cycling around NYC. I was trying out a number of breweries and pizzerias and this was my sixth and final stop of the day. The clientele at most craft breweries tends to be predominantly white men in their 30s and 40s. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the clientele at the Bronx Brewery was predominantly men AND women of color; pretty cool! Aside from the main taproom, the brewery features a large outdoor space (dubbed the "Backyard") which often hosts musical guests. There is also a seating area on the production floor which was dubbed "The Lab". Unfortunately, there was a private party going on when I visited and I was unable to visit the Backyard or the Lab. After looking over the beer menu, I decided to order draft pours of "Smile My Guy" (Session IPA) and "No Resolutions" (IPA). They were both pretty refreshing. The brewery is also home to its own Puerto Rican-inspired kitchen. Customers can order delicious empanadas or sandwiches from the "Empanology" menu or artisanal pizza pies from their "EmPie Artisanal Pizza" menu. After looking over the food menus, I ordered and enjoyed a delicious "Middle of Little Italy" (white wine citrus shrimp, banana peppers, fresh garlic, mozzarella) to pair with my beers. Overall, I had a really nice experience at the Bronx Brewery and I hope to visit their Hudson Yards location in the future!

It is the last original beer garden remaining in New York City. On a hot summer day, the Beer Garden just off 31st street is the place to come and relax, watch a game or event, or, at other times, attend a civic or social meeting with local elected officials in one of their private rooms or the main auditorium. I was here last July to hang out and hold an outdoor meeting about a local park in Astoria. We had a choice of burgers, mac and cheese, pizza schnotzel, beer-battered onion rings, and various fried foods. However, there is one aspect of going to the Beer Garden that I ABSOLUTELY HATE, and that is bouncers frisking down visitors or asking customers to show an ID. In my opinion, that is a turnoff and unnecessary action taken, for orderly, polite adults, and makes you feel as if you are in a strip club, and thus an invasion of the person's right to privacy. I recommend, yes, but it is best to go when you want to attend a group event.

They host silent discos here often, which is super cool! It costs just $15 per person, which is a great price. If you haven't attended a silent disco yet, you'll definitely want to add it to your list!! Basically, there are multiple DJs (typically 3 different ones here) that each play a different genre of music. Each person participating gets a set of headphones with 3 different channels - one set to each of the DJs. Additionally, each channel makes the headphones light up a different color. For example, DJ #1 is blue, DJ #2 is red and DJ #3 is green. This lets you see who else is tuning into the same DJ channel as you. It's soooo fun!! Silent Disco nights are also perfect for large groups of friends where some want to go dance and others just want to sit and talk. Because the music is only being played through the headphones, it makes for a relatively peaceful atmosphere for those NOT wanting to deal with loud music. A win-win for everyone! It's pretty empty on weeknights, but can get really packed on the weekends so just be mindful of that! Pro Tip: don't stand in the massive line outside to get a beer - head inside and get it from the bar. One Friday night when we were here, we saw an insanely long line outside, so we walked inside to find ONE other person ordering from the two bartenders indoors. We had no wait time while everyone else outside stood there for quite awhile.
