Ryan's Daughter provides a nice place to sit and drink after work. It certainly gives an unpretentious, local, divey vibe, where you can just come as you are: tired, casual, suited up, in sweatpants, whatever. If you come in the early evening, say 6 or 7 pm, the bar is empty save for a few patrons. During the weekend, though, it's packed. This place has beers on tap, and the bartender will make a Shirley Temple for the people who don't drink as much or at all. If you're hungry, they also offer some pub fare, including a shepherd's pie and french fries. Although both are delicious, I will note that the fries costs $10, which I find to be a bit much, considering they are nothing special, just regular fries not dissimilar to McDonald's. Still, Ryan's Daughter is a neighborhood favorite, and if you're looking for a place to sit and drink, come exactly as you are. You'll be welcomed. read more

Stopped in with some friends to grab a drink and hang out. This place was pretty packed and busy when we got there and it just got busier through the night. They do have a fairly good selection of beers and drinks to pick from. Yet the highlight of this place was the customer service. This bar has been in the neighborhood for ever! It's an Upper East side staple. It may not be a big bar but it always gets a crowd here. Great place to watch sports, hang with friends. They used to have a nice outdoor shed that was split into little seating private areas with tvs and outlets and all. They also have one or two small tables right outside of the place. This sports bar has some games in the back if the first floor. They also have a very nice party room upstairs with its own bar and seating area. All the bartenders that I have met from here are all very nice. I recommend coming here if in the area. read more

First and last time going out on St. Patrick's day. Iam not a beer drinker or a pub fan so that's prob a big reason as to why I didn't like my time there. Music was boring & it was so loud in there that I had to yell to speak so people can hear me. A lot of people, barely any space to stand or walk. There was barely any seats and the bathroom stalls were so small and an uncomfortable position to squat and use the bathroom! Lol Not sure on how the service was at the bar but my drink came to me quick so I'm assuming the bartenders are quick with getting drinks on a busy holiday. Amazing staff (shout out to Cameron the bartender and Sebastian the manager), great selection of beer, wine, and liquor, and tasty well portioned bites including pigs in a blanket and shepherds pie. Try their PA'LANTE Mexican rum you won't be disappointed. I appreciate an Irish Bar that doesn't roll their eyes at you for ordering something other than beer. They'll even provide suggestions if you're unsure. Monday trivia on the upper level is a fun time (shout out to Melissa the host). Kinda like a frat house. This place also reminds me of the carnival Pinocchio went to before almost turning into a donkey. It's a ton of fun with rare games like arcade basketball and also have a pool table and dartboard. The pool table typically is used by amazing players so if you want a challenge definitely play there. Loosing track of time is very easy to do here. Just be careful with the bar and keep track of your tab or pay as you go before they add things or more importantly let strangers add drinks to your tab and you feel like an ass paying for them. read more

We happen to stumble upon this pub after the St Patrick's Day parade. It was so crowded, obviously everyone having fun! It was nice that they had an additional bar upstairs where we were able to find a place sit, relax and drink our tap beer with less rowdy noise. The two-level bar with his old school decor has a decent array of beers and most of the bartenders can make a stiff cocktail. Ryan's Daughter is one of those places where you can visit with a few friends or alone (and make some new friends). Beverages are on the low end of the price scale, plus the bar provides free UTZ chips. During the week, the bar is a little relaxed but it can get quite rowdy (I guess like many places on the UES) on the weekends. read more

Such a great neighorbood bar spot on the UES. It has such a nice atmosphere, and has darts/pop-a-shot for anyone who likes playing games. Sometimes when a bar has too many games, it ruins the vibe/causes some people to only focus on the games. That is not the case for Ryan's Daughter! It also has a really cool upstairs bar that you can rent out - would def recommend for a party/event, or even just to hang out with some friends watching a game or just hanging on the couches in the lounge. I've been here twice. Good chill spot with games and wide selection of drinks. Loved that they had basketball. Most of the bartenders were great. They know how to pour a Guinness. The second time was not as enjoyable as the first. A bartender I hadn't interacted with the first time served me. She rudely corrected me twice on the ingredients of a gin and tonic when I asked for a lime with it. Unfortunately I've gotten served a gin and tonic many times without a lime at other bars. She also took the time to leave the bar and come up to us at their juke box and tell us to change the songs we were playing because "people were leaving". It was one of those places I passed on the way to the train and thought to myself that I should come back here earlier in the evening. I came here on my birthday for a drink with the bf before heading home. The bartender was super friendly and extremely knowledgeable about beer and suggested a few options he thought I would like based on my preferences. They have games (pool, darts, board games) which to me is clutch since I like to do something at a bar besides just sit and talk. The crowd was quiet, relaxed, definitely some regulars, who weren't afraid to talk to the two newcomers who walked in slightly after midnight. I will definitely be back! read more
