Very open, friendly staff, and good food. -Crispy Chicken Sandwich: 3.5/5, I was a little weary because of the "chive cream cheese" but said screw it and went for it. Good sandwich and I was happy with my choice. The chicken kind of reminded me of a thin frozen fried tender BUT it was good. A little pricey at $16 but it is what it is. Can't go wrong with crinkle cut fries either ;) -Grapefruit Mimosa: 3/5, there are good mimosas & bad mimosas but this was a pretty good one. Nicely mixed. Overall, I'm happy we chose to come here. Been here a couple of times so far. Partially out of convenience with meeting a friend that lives out in Queens further away. Also, the craft beer selection here is always truly outstanding. Prices a little steep. But where do I not see $8 beers these days really should be the better question. It's very spacious and the doors and windows are always open. Draft and can selection is always rotating. Solid choice of ciders as well. Some of their food sounds really good (like that cuban flatbread thing - I've been dying to try the idea of pickles on pizza) but I haven't gotten around to trying the food yet. You can either order with the staff or electronically. Have unfortunately never made it to happy hour and only have been here I think on like weekend afternoons but they have two of them: Monday-Friday Noon-7pm and again a late night hour of 10pm to 2am. They have some of the most expansive outdoor seating that I've seen. My fiancée had a cocktail while I had a flight of beers. They had options from Transmitter, collective arts, Big aLICe, SingleCut, and more. They have a nice variety of beers with the plenty of craft options. I arrived here yesterday for dinner. The place was packed. I ordered the Rivercrest burger with thick-cut fries. Service was a little slow, which was completely understandable. When my burger arrived it was cold and I had to have it sent back. Then when a new burger arrived it tasted exactly like a big mac..There was also a lot of confusion over the orders. There were 4 different waiters/waitresses. 1) seated me 2) took the order 3) deliver my food and 4) took my check. In the case of No 2, he couldn't find my table. I asked for the check, and then the question became who should get the tip. In the end I just gave a standard tip and When Rivercrest opened it received very good reviews. I was eager to try them, as again the Greek fish restaurants were booked up for hours. I am sad to say that my experience was not very good. read more

Great food and drinks! It was super easy to order food on the QR codes at the table. You scanned the code on your phone, ordered the food and I think you added your credit card too so it kept a tab open for you. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVEEEEEEE this place! My friend and I had THE BEST time here! I can't believe we haven't been here before. This is like the PERFECT neighborhood bar. Service: HUGE shoutout to Keria and Lauren (sorry if there are any misspellings). From the moment we walked in we KNEW we were going to like Lauren but didn't realize we were going to love her! She is so personable, funny, and knowledgeable. Keria came to our table to check if everything was good and I had to ask her to come back because we had forgotten to boast about Lauren. Lauren was on top of everything! She scanned the room constantly to make sure we had everything we needed and that is so crucial to a great experience. Food: The food was banging! The wings were AMAZING. I am picky about my wings but these were SO good! They had the perfect ratio of carrots and celery as well. We just needed a lot more blue cheese. The cheese board was delicious too! There was this fig jam that was to die for. I do hope that one day in the future they can have gluten free crackers available (for an extra charge). The cheese board was a generous size and had a great balance of cheese, fruit, and crackers. I noticed other meals around us and everything looked just as good. We are going to return for brunch ($25 bottomless PLUS the cost of a meal which are around $10~) which sounds amazing. Ambience: Dark, wood tones which I am all for. It was a large place but it still felt cozy. You can totally feel how awesome this place is, it merges on being homely but also lively and a staple you didn't know you needed in your life. I'm not even talking about charging an unannounced fee for paying by card, although that is certainly annoying, and probably unlawful. No, I'm talking about the worst new trend in the restaurant bar industry as it relates to the cash paying customer seated at the bar. I'm talking about the practice of abandoning the New York industry standard of incorporating sales tax into the cash bar price of a drink combined with the new criminal practice of rounding up receipt totals to the nearest dollar and not giving customers proper change. That last part is larceny, plain and simple. Suggestions for fixing this: 1. You have space on your draft beer board to post conspicuously "sales tax and merchant service fee not included." 2. If you don't want your bartenders bogged down in handling coin change, instruct them to round totals down instead of up. You, the owner, are the one creating coin totals by abandoning the standard. You eat it. Your bartenders will be rewarded instead of punished as a result. read more

She had the Creme Brulee French toast which was super tasty, just the right amount of sweet balanced by fresh berries. He had the crispy chicken sandwich with tots that was what you could expect from a crispy chicken sandwich. Twas delicious, the only issue was the chicken was grilled and not crispy. He still enjoyed it very much so he didn't say anything. I had the skillet with Plant based meat, zucchini, squash and spinach. I nixed mushrooms as I don't like them. Was very good and super filling. I did ask for balsamic dressing as I felt it could've used a sauce or maybe even the yolk of a poached or sunny side up egg. Well, we stopped by Ninos, across the street, but the waitress who barely greeted us had to ask the manager if we could still order happy hour drinks at 6:58p (time per our phones) although her watch was two minutes fast! It took about 20mins to receive a "2hr Wait", and a "Barrymore Bramble", which is probably on me for ordering a drink with that name. The 2hr Wait tasted like a side salad. The amount of dill in my drink would make a tzatziki dip from next door jealous. The Barrymore Bramble looked like dirty sewer water with a green blanket of a basil leaf on top. I had been wanting to try Rivercrest for so long, but then COVID hit. I saw they were offering a Restaurant Week deal for delivery, so jumped on that! The deal is a class cheeseburger with fries + half a dozen wings (says buffalo, but they let us get a different flavor). We also ordered the truffle tots in addition to two Restaurant Week orders. The burgers were great - classic cheeseburgers with American cheese, mayo, lettuce, and tomato. A nice touch was the shredded lettuce. Often times, places slap a big piece of iceberg lettuce on there, which wilts. Not the case here! Crinkle fries were standard. The wings seemed dry, but the flavor was good. The tots were a standout! There was a huge helping! The tots were crispy and the parm/truffle flavor was spot on. Looking forward to trying more from Rivercrest soon. read more

While Rivercrest is a fun addition to Ditmars, it is bogged down by an identity crisis. It is trying to accomplish too many things at once which will be harmful to its reputation in the long run. At a glance, it appears to be a sports bar, but aside from the wings and tots, the menu is much more reminiscent of a trendy vegetarian spot. I had the buffalo falafel tacos and was upset by how much I enjoyed them. The flavor was great and the buffalo hummus tied the dish together. My friend enjoyed one of the vegetarian bowls in a similar manner. The food brought the rating from a 3-star to a 4-star, for sure. The restaurant's decor is pleasant and inviting and the circulating beer list offers a variety of local options that are on the more affordable end. Rivercrest's issue comes from not committing to one idea. It wants to be a sports bar but over half of its menu is vegetarian. The vegetarian options all sounded more enticing than the beef-filled counterparts. If Rivercrest were to commit to being vegetarian, its other qualities could shine. Ditmars could benefit from a vegetarian restaurant that isn't fast casual and offers the fun and laid-back environment of Rivercrest. Rivercrest just needs to learn how to sell that aspect and refine its offerings to fulfill that niche and thrive. read more

Food and drink choices were very easy to select, and management was extremely accommodating with our requests. At the party itself, Shane (owner) was unbelievably helpful and attentive throughout the entire party! He made sure without a doubt everything was how we imagined it. Our bartenders were also incredible!! With almost 40 guests, we each received personalized service, and never had an empty hand. The food was delicious, all our guests raved about it!! Recently went with a couple of friends to watch college football in the bar area (2/3 of the restaurant is a bar and the other 1/3 is more of a true restaurant). We got a couple beers. Good selection overall. Every table has a good view of the TVs. Only con for me was having to serve ourselves. Every time we wanted a beer, water refill or food we'd have to go to the bar to get served (food was brought out to us). We ordered wings that I thought we're just okay.
