    El mejor maracuya sour!!!!
    Alyssa B.

Ah I love Amaru. It makes me want to go back to Peru even more! (and I'm not even Peruvian!) Maracuya sour, still amazing! Try the salchipapas! Instead of typical oscar mayer hotdog - they use spanish sausage (chorizo) and it is delicious! The care they put into everything really shows, and pays off! Came for Peruvian Independance, music was on point (like always!) If only they hired female bartenders, I'd apply in a heartbeat!

I came here on a Wednesday night around 9:45 and it started to get packed as I was leaving at 12:15. Their music playlist ranges from bachata, pop, salsa, hip hop, cumbia, and some alternative rock. The bartenders are attentive and very friendly. For my first drink I ordered the Cholita, which was very refreshing, clean, and not overly sweet. I prefer bitter drinks over sweet, so I enjoyed the Callao Long. A girly drink all will appreciate is the Maracuya Sour. For food, the Cebiche (Ceviche) wasn't anything special but it was satisfying. Gambas al Ajillo (Garlic Shrimp) was quite delicious also served with a basket of bread. My friend ordered Alitas Amaru (chicken wings) and seemed to enjoy them. I definitely want to come back on a Friday or Saturday night!

I really do like this place. The decor is great. Ambiance is great especially for a date. Sometimes the music might just be a little too loud, but if the music is good then it won't matter as much. The restroom is well maintained. There is a balcony seating area which costs $200 to rent with full service. Accommodates approximately 25 people. The staff here is awesome. Shout out to Gabriel, Michael, Ephrain, and Carlos. There is also a little outdoor area for the occasional smoker to access. The negative? It's quite a significant one... No coat check. All the seats in here are stools meaning no back. If you come with a jacket/coat then you either sit on it or on your lap. Minus one star for that. The drinks are great and appropriately priced for what they are going after. If you're complaining about the price, then you obviously are not the clientele they are targeting. The tapas is also great. I recommend the Gambas de Ajillo. I'm a repeat offender at this place.

What a gem in the neighborhood! Part sports--sports lovers will totally dig the gigantic screen and cocktail bar, this spot is a nice addition to the neighborhood. Those of you who love their cocktails sweet will be happy here. I thought the Amaru pisco drink was super sweet but another drink (I don't recall the name but it's the first drink listed on the right side of the menu ) was better thanks to its tartness. Like beer? They have two Peruvian beers on draft that are totally worth trying. The biggest surprise was the amazing huge ceviche trio sample. For only $14, you get three different types of ceviche (two fish and one shrimp) with chockful of flavor and zest. This is a mega steal; in Manhattan, you would probably need to pay double the price for the quality and portion. My only misgiving (aside from the super sweet pisco) is the size of the bar tables. The small size suits a party of 2 comfortably. For a party of four, it leaves you with enough space only to drink. We had to cram our drinks and be creative while enjoying our ceviche. Still, I'd come back again but ironically, the draw would be the food. By the way, they serve complimentary popcorn kernels (almost like cornnuts minus the added flavors and preservatives).

Great place to have fun with friends! Great mix of music here (not too much a fan of Salsa and bachata) but here they play everything! Even Latin pop/rock! Bouncers are nice and friendly. Good mixed drinks and the peruvian food is awesome! Prices are good too, better that going to the city. One bad note. Parking. It's nearly impossible around here. Or get here early, it does get crowded. But it's a nice crowd.People are nice here, No problems whatsoever. Music is very loud at times, and hard to hear each other talk. But you'll be dancing till 4am for sure!

Yesterday we stopped in for some food and drink and we saw that they were setting up tables for an event. It looked beautiful. We were told that they were closed due to the event so the wife went to use the restroom before we left. While waiting, I started talking to a very friendly guy named Joe about the Knicks. Funny enough, he turned out to be the owner. When the wife came out, I asked if we could just have one drink at the bar since we came all the way out there, and Joe told the bartender "Let these two sit and order some drinks". We sat, drank, and talked to the owner about business and life in general and it was one of the most pleasant times we've had at a bar in years. We are fans of Cityview (and Joe) for life.

Is it the most impressive view of the skyline? No. But that's not where this place really shines. What truly sells City View Rooftop is the space. It's incredible. You could easily host a full on graduation party, baby shower, or just about any event you can think of THEN add that you can see the Manhattan skyline. The indoor outdoor layout is beautiful and works perfectly for summer, spring, or even a crisp fall day. The sound system is great, and there are seven or eight screens along the wall showing different visuals, which adds to the vibe. Service was excellent throughout our visit. And finally let's talk Shirley Temples. As a self proclaimed Shirley Temple connoisseur, I can confidently say theirs were chef's kiss.

It's a quaint little bar that hosts different DJs and Karaoke Nights. People were very lively, and all the songs were pretty popular. The drinks themselves were amazing. We got the Mermaid, one of their signatures, but replaced the rum with vodka, and it was genuinely so good. It tasted sweet and paired well with the salt rim. We had a couple of other drinks, such as a Strawberry Mojito, but I can't exactly remember the names of the other drinks, since they made them based on the flavors we wanted. They were extremely well-made drinks, though. The only side note is that the bathroom is a little questionable since it's two toilets in one bathroom, but, nonetheless, Chowk is still a vibe. It can get a little tight if there are a lot of people, since it's a small spot, but the drinks and vibes are worth going in for.

I love jazz and thought I should stop by and see if it's any good. I was so surprised at how great it was. Going to Chowk, you'll first notice a few things. It feels a bit gimmicky. It's partially the decor, partially the plant wall thing, partially the neon sign. The entire place is set up in a way so that every pic you might post on social media would look great. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it's a vibe. The shape of the place makes it feel a bit like a railroad apt. Bar is on the right as you come in, with a couch set up between the windows and the bar. On the left is long wall seating. Small tables as well with stools on the other side. At the far end is a good size stage with a jumbo screen behind it. I looked at their cocktail menu and decided to get a "My Name Is." It was delicious and it's the only cocktail I've gotten on the three visits there. It's a Nepali bar and I've also had one of their Nepali beers which was also good. In regard to the jazz, it was phenomenal. I felt somewhat bad that they don't have the crowd (yet) that they deserve. When you go, there's no doubt you're in the presence of greatness, that these musicians have practiced their entire lives to bring this to you and you're able to just sit there and enjoy it. I felt truely blessed. The staff here is chill and kind and are appreciative of patrons. I can't wait to go back for more. Highly recommend as just a chill vibe cocktail bar and highly recommend for the jazz.

The drinks were well made, the oysters were fresh and enjoyable, and overall the venue itself makes a strong first impression. Unfortunately, the service completely undermined the experience. Our server, Emma, came across as dismissive and visibly uninterested in serving our table from the start. There were long stretches where we couldn't get attention for additional drinks, to the point that we eventually walked up to the bar ourselves just to ask if we could order. Instead of helping, we were met with attitude and told she would "get to us." What made the experience especially frustrating was the contrast in urgency later in the night. When my girlfriend's card was temporarily declined because her bank flagged the location -- something resolved immediately with a quick text confirmation from the bank -- Emma appeared at the table almost instantly, with a tone that felt unnecessarily accusatory and embarrassing, as though we were unable to pay the bill. It was hard not to notice how quickly attention arrived for that situation compared to how difficult it had been to receive basic service throughout the evening. To make matters worse, after we got home, my girlfriend discovered her card had been charged twice for the same bill. It's disappointing because the restaurant itself has so much potential. Beautiful setting, quality drinks, and good seafood should make for an easy recommendation. Instead, the service experience -- combined with the double charge -- left all of us agreeing that this would be our last visit.
