I've had my eye on this place for years - should have come here sooner. Black sesame basque cheesecake: my favorite of the 4 I tried. This is actually cheesecake rather than the lighter Japanese version, with a strong black sesame flavor. Hojicha creme brulee: this came as part of a promotion, and the taste is strong. They do brulee the top on the spot and my sugar top got a little too burnt. Oolong tea cheesecake: still good, would get this again still. Lighter flavor but the floral flavor does come out at the end of a bite. Coconut milk jelly: the lightest of the flavor but still sweet and flavorful enough to come through. There's a dusting of graham crackers and strawberry jelly to complement. We also got a hot matcha jasmine latte but it was actually cold. It seems like it normally comes iced and perhaps they have no way of warming up the jasmine part. There's a points program and tons of promotions that rotate. There have also been different desserts that rotate so I'll have to keep coming back to try more. They have a lunch special too where you can get a drink or dessert for less cost. read more

Idk what possessed me to order 2 cake slices. I had such a hard time finishing. 5 stars for the strawberry matcha and for great service! I already knew Meadow Dessert had the highest quality matcha in the neighborhood which is why I was so happy when they reopened in their own storefront on Steinway, but the seasonal strawberry matcha latte blew me away. The strawberry cream is so good, sweet enough to stand up to the earthiness of the matcha but not overpower it. Since it's a good matcha powder you can feel the caffeine boost. The price is in line with any other fancy matcha latte in the city but you can be sure they won't serve you a cup of vaguely green milk. I've only done takeout but they've done a good job utilizing the small space inside for seating. There is a loyalty program when you pay. read more

Stopped by here since I know it's new and by chance it was right there. So a friend and I went and picked up some cakes. I, myself got the black sesame cake, Earl grey tea cheesecake and Classic tiramisu. I was super hype to go home and give it a try. All the cakes seem to be high quality and they really stick with the Asian compliment - "not too sweet". None of the items I got were super sweet and the taste were there. Although, for me, I felt the black sesame cake could be better. Again, you taste it but I didn't think it was strong enough. This was also the case for the earl grey tea but due to it being a black tea I think this worked out better. read more

Been wanting to try out this dessert place for awhile and it did not disappoint. They specialize in tea flavored desserts which is totally up my alley. Came here on a Thursday afternoon and it wasn't busy at all. Ordered their coconut milk pudding, oolong tea cheesecake, hojicha crème brûlée, strawberry fruit sandwich and egg sandwich. Their sandwiches were delicious. The bread was soft and pillowy. Their egg sandwich was fresh and creamy. My kids devoured the strawberry fruit sandwich so I cannot comment on it but they raved about it. The coconut milk pudding was cute and jiggly. Had a nice hint of coconut taste and I liked how it was paired with crumbled graham crackers and dried strawberry bits to add more flavor and textures. Their oolong tea cheesecake was creamy and I liked how the texture was not too soft. It also had just the right amount of tea flavor. The hojicha crème brûlée was my favorite. The custard was creamy and the tea flavor was intense as you can see the finely grind tea leaves at the bottom. The carmalized sugar had just the right amount so it didn't make it too sweet or too overpowering. We also ordered their hojicha latte, strawberry matcha and earl gray. You can tell they use quality tea leaves to brew the tea as the flavors were bold and earthy. The strawberry matcha was refreshing and the dried strawberry bits added some sweetness and texture. It's a small cafe with 4 small tables for you to enjoy their treats. But it's comfortable and the staff was super friendly and took the time to explain everything to us. I was near the area and saw this cute dessert spot. Ordered two cakes for pickup : earl grey cheesecake and kumquat cheesecake. I ordered via the online portal which was easy to use and included a 3% credit card surcharge (I don't know if there's still a surcharge if you purchased in store). The online order was easy to use and pickup was fast too. The cake slices were a lot smaller than I expected. They felt like half or 2/3 of a regular cake slice. I originally thought the prices were very affordable but looking at the small size, I think they're a little bit pricy. The kumquat matcha basque cheesecake was not bad. The citrus flavor was a good touch. I did not enjoy the earl grey cheesecake. It had a weird aftertaste and some bites didn't taste like earl grey. We didn't end up finishing the earl grey cheesecake. Both cakes were a little heavy too but not too sweet. Overall: I thought the cakes were just okay, cute shop shared with an omakase place. The sesame basque cheesecake (not even released to the full menu yet) was absolutely divine since I seldom have a black sesame dessert that encompasses the flavor in each fiber! The caramel lava cheesecake was also great and the toasting was cool to witness The chai latte is brewed in house and great recommendation for having it cold (apparently half and half did not go well with it and whole/oat milk were better and announced, which was wonderful). Went out on a random Tuesday day and thankfully seating inside wasn't too packed . Friendly and attentive staff . Me and my friends all got the strawberry matcha . Matcha was strong in flavor but strawberry flavor made the whole drink sour . The desserts were sooo soo good tho! We all loved the black sesame cheesecake , wasn't too sweet and perfect nutty sesame flavor . The mango bear was also very good and not too sweet! Cute for photos ! This newly opened Asian dessert spot, working out of Koyo (sushi restaurant) is currently only doing takeout and delivery orders. The menu is listed on their website and inside the restaurant. You can place your order online or by phone. Since opening last month, it looks like they've already updated some items on their menu and have added more drink options. I ordered a Mango Mousse Bear ($10), Blue Flower Earl Grey Tea Cheesecake ($5.50), Houjicha Crème Brulee ($5.50) and a Sparkling Yuzu White Peach drink ($5). First off, I must note that the presentation was great for both the desserts and drink. This was especially impressive to me since I got my order for takeout. The Mango Mousse Bear was so stinking cute but also delicious. The bear itself was made of cream cheese, milk and white chocolate. The head contained a piece of mango, and the dessert was placed on a bed of cookie crumbs. Such a great presentation. The Earl Grey Tea Cheesecake was another great dessert. The cheesecake was smooth, slightly dense with a note of earl grey tea. It was topped with vanilla cream and tiny edible flower petals. The presentation and taste were refined, elegant and understated. The Houjicha Crème Brulee was quite good, but I suspect not for everyone's taste. The custard has a strong roasted green tea flavor, which I thought went well with the caramelized sugar topping. And surprisingly, the Sparkling Yuzu Whie Peach drink went well with all of the desserts. It was made with carbonated water, cane sugar, yuzu and white peach juice concentrate. It tasted a bit like lemonade but not as tart and had a softer finish from the carbonated water. It really was a great palate cleanser and was so refreshing. Like most Asian desserts, these were not too sweet and relied more on natural sweetness of the ingredients. All of the desserts I got were delicious, and the prices were reasonable. I am actually already planning my next order (Egg Sando and Japanese Fruit Sandwich) for pick up today. Highly recommend! read more

Oh wow. This hidden spot always pulled me in thanks to their small sign in the front of the store. I decided to surprise my husband with matcha tiramisu as a welcome home treat. The matcha tiramisu was heavenly, it wasn't too over powering or bitter, it was perfectly balanced with bitter and sweet and light. The matcha latte oat iced was pretty good, but if you are use to sweet matcha ask to put sugar in it. The mango mousse bear was so creamy and flavorful; and nevertheless, so cute!! I discovered this place when it had just opened a few months ago but never got around to reviewing it. It is located in a Japanese restaurant but their hours are from 11-6 while the sushi restaurant operates after that. It's not set for dine in during the day so your only options are to order in person , order it on line for pick up or delivery. The first time I came here I got the stinking cute coconut kitty which was refreshing and so affordable compared to other places (I'm looking at you Anjelly). However the owner informed me the kitty is too delicate for travel in the summer months so my second time here we opted for the mango mouse bear and the kumquat green tea cheese cake. My favorite was the mango bear not only cuz of the cuteness factor but for the brightness of the mango flavor. The kumquat cheese cake honestly was good but I felt like the kumquat overpowers the green tea so I felt the green tea was really only there for color contrast rather than compliment the kumquat.
