I can't remember exactly what the flavor I got was called but I know it had chunky crunchy cookie almost like pie crust pieces in it and it was sooooo good. The pieces were actually pretty big which I liked. It was a hot day so it definitely hit the spot too. I would definitely come back to get the same flavor or even try some new ones. When you get inside they have a rope line set up. You can try the different flavors before committing to one. Service was great. To be honest this is my go to ice cream spot whenever I get hit with a craving after work or church They have some pretty interesting flavor options and include some new ones every now and then. My personal favorites are the banana pudding and the ooey gooey butter cake but my friends swear by the snap mallow pop the flavor is very creamy so you definitely won't be disappointed if you love ice cream! Definitely give them a visit. Theres enough seating inside and a bench outside along with great people who are usually very welcoming when you first walk in. They do play music inside so if you want a quiet vibe not the place-- but it is 100% "ice cream parlor" vibes! If I was rating Ample Hills a year ago I would have gave them 5 stars. I used to love this place, but the ice cream went downhill. We ordered 4 cups of ice cream yesterday with a variety of different flavors. All flavors we previously had and loved. Yesterday the same flavors no longer tasted nearly as good before. On top of that all of our ice creams were melting all over the place. The ice cream was no longer creamy or good as it once was. I'm not sure if something is wrong with their freezer at this location or if Ample Hills decide to cut corners and deliver a cheap product. The prices went up and the quality went down. This one in astoria is perfect to add to your list of places to visit when you make a neighborhood trip or food crawl down here. I will say that their ice cream runs on the sweet side, and for typical east asian taste buds, I found it a bit -too- sweet but everything else was on point that I still consider it one of my favorites. I've tried a few flavors here, including the mango (SO refreshing with a real mango flavor) and the morning in paris which is raspbery jam with croissant which breaks up the texture a little bit ( I like these kinds of flavors) and that was wonderful. I want to go back and try more ice cream flavors! This ice cream spot had such a cute concept and shop aesthetic. My favorite thing was ordering a flight, which was just a fancy way of saying, "let me put little tiny ice cream scoops and a cute egg carton". I recognize that that sounds like I'm being sarcastic, but I think it's the best freaking idea and I'm mad I didn't think of it. If you buy a flight and share it with a friend, firstly, it's a cheaper experience, secondly, you get to try out so many flavors, and thirdly why wouldn't you do this option? I'm a long time Ample Hills fans so I was excited to finally have some of their amazing ice cream again during my visit to NYC. The flavors have changed slightly since my last visit in 2019, but the ice cream is just as delicious as I remember. I couldn't decide which flavor to have since there's so many good ones to choose from so I decided to go for their ice cream flight. The ice cream flight is 6 mini scoops, each scoop being about the size of a golf ball for $10. My ice cream flight included peppermint Pattie, chocolate milk & cookies, cookie au lait, oatmeal lace, ooey gooey, and buzzin in Brooklyn. I loved both of the coffee based ice creams because I'm a coffee ice cream lover. The buzzin in Brooklyn had more mix ins and I loved the crunchy espresso toffee pieces in it. Ooey gooey is always a solid choice for a sweet vanilla ice cream with the ooey gooey butter cake pieces mixed in. Ample hills has fun, unique ice cream flavors. I've always loved that they fill the ice cream with tons of mix ins creating a unique flavor with some texture. If you haven't tried Ample Hills, it's a must! read more

So happy this place opened back up. This is the best hard ice cream option in Astoria, hands down. Service is friendly, they'll basically let you try as many flavors as you want without getting annoyed. This is one of few proper ice cream establishments where you can actually sit down and enjoy your ice cream in the air conditioning, which means you don't have to scarf it down the way you do when you get a soft serve cone from Marvel in 80 degree weather. I like that in addition to a variety of interesting ice cream flavors, they also have a ton of fun sundae offerings. Can't decide which flavor to go with? You can get six scoops that come in an egg carton like tray so that you don't have to commit to just one or two. Did you know that each Ample Hills Creamery location has a signature flavor!? That is what I learned on my most recent visit. I've never been to the Astoria location, which was a cute little spot. They had an awesome print that hung on the wall, so when asked about it, that was when I learned about the signature flavor. Here that flavor is "Nectar of the Queens". So cool! I love their ice cream, but what I really love is their ooey, gooey butter cake. So I grabbed one pre-packaged butter cake, and one pre-packaged brownie to go. Later on and the next day I indulged myself and they tasted just as fresh as if they were just made. The server behind the counter was nice, friendly and appreciated my candor. I'm so glad there's an Ample Hills that's not too far from my house. Much rather the 20-25 minute drive than having to commute to Manhattan for some of the best ice cream New York has to offer. Having gone to Ample Hills dozens of times, I don't think I can express ever having a bad experience. I've tried a wide variety of flavors from the menu and I have never left disappointed. Their flavors are unique, whimsical and most importantly, tasty! My 3 favorites are the strawberry and cream, chocolate milk and cookies and snap, mallow and pop. Getting 1 scoop of each is my go to order. It's one of the most perfect pairings I've put together. Loved my first experience at Ample Hills Creamery. We ordered an assortment of six flavors for $8 which was such a steal and a good after dinner dessert for us. The ice cream came in an adorable egg carton for six eggs which I thought was pretty creative. We got guava sorbet, lemon sorbet, chocolate, nectar of the queens, pistachio, and peanut butter. Absolutely love and cannot rave enough about the guava sorbet, it was a perfect mix of fruity sour and complimented the rest of the non-sorbet ice creams beautifully. Lemon sorbet also balanced the sweetness of the other ice creams but it was pretty on par with all the other lemon sorbets I've tasted. I enjoyed chocolate because it was dark chocolate and not milky sweet. Loved the pistachio with its creamy and pistachio richness flavor. Nectar of the queens and peanut butter were way to sweet for me, but may find fans for other sweet tooths out there. Note that indoor dining wasn't available as of 6/11/2021, but there were tables and chairs up for grab outside. Was actually sitting down and got up to take a cute picture and two folks interrupted me sitting down in my seat after they noticed I got up just to take a picture lol . This location keeps very inconsistent inventory. Ample Hills doesn't have a huge menu. It's common for one freezer or half a freezer to be empty. And I'm talking about...like...chocolate. Things they shouldn't run out of all the time. The staff is also hit or miss. I've had really personable, helpful servers, and I've had rude ones who couldn't spell their own name right (hi, Princess).
