This was a place that I wanted to hate, so I would stop craving a soft-serve every time we walked by. But I didn't hate it; I loved it! There are lots of places for hard ice cream in the area, I don't need to walk over a mile for that, though they were doing a brisk business with their hard ice creams here. A couple of places for gelato too, and gelato is my favorite of those frozen dairy desserts. But every so often, I love a vanilla or a van/choc twist soft serve covered in chocolate sprinkles. That's usually my Jersey shore summer treat. But whenever I walk York Avenue and pass Dubl Twister, I want it so much! Finally, a warm afternoon in early April and I made it my destination! I definitely would've liked even more sprinkles, but the "small" cup was an ample serving of the ice cream and sooo delicious! I did think a dollar for sprinkles was a little much, but if I make it just an occasional splurge (the dollar and the calories, lol!), I'll deal. Next time, though, I'll order kiddie size; it was a lot to eat and I do not leave a portion of good ice cream go uneaten! Plus I live too far to take it home read more

I will say that this place really really surprised me. We were craving some soft serve and got it here and it was phenomenal. Like something about it was so tasty and the texture was awesome. The place reminds you of the beach where it's a huge selection of choices of ice cream. The service was a little slow as their was only one person working there and there was a decent amount of people asking for samples and such. This will be my place for a fix of soft serve! read more

Good ice cream, great value. The guys behind the counter are really nice at this ice cream shop that's been in its current location for about 4 years or so according to one of the guys there. A $6 medium cup can get you three flavors. I chose cookie monster, pistachio, and cupcake. Each flavor was really good. I think the Pistachio was the best of the three. I noticed they also have soft serve, so I'll have to give that a go and compare it to Carvel in my mind. Open late, quick to serve, and short lines. I'll be back. read more

Had no idea this ice cream place existed until I happened to be walking my friend home and simultaneously happened to be craving ice cream. It has all the simple flavors you'd expect every ice cream place to have with some of their own specials PLUS soft serve. There's a bathroom and some seating inside for you to sit and eat. I ordered the cookie monster upon the worker's recommendation, and it was great! It was a variation on cookies & cream that was packed full of oreos. Pricing is super decent, especially on the upper east side, and I loved that there were four options for cup sizes because both my friend and I went for the kids size. I think the shop itself could use a bit of updating because it would be a draw for more people, but that part doesn't matter to me. It's got good ice cream, so how could you go wrong. read more

Last night I went here after dinner for a little treat in the way home and ordered vanilla soft serve with peanut butter sauce and sprinkles. Sprinkles just bring me joy, they add basically nothing else but a touch of pizazz and happy. Welp, they put the sprinkles under the peanut butter sauce, so zero joy. It actually looked like something that should be hosed off the sidewalk. They kind of stared at it and handed it to me. For like $8. This was my second visit and I really really wanted to like it, but I just don't. The soft serve is strangely airy, similar to Ralph's. If anyone knows the cause of this, I'd be genuinely interested. I assume it's not dairy or perhaps has emulsifying or thickening agents added to the mix. If I go again I'll probably get a frozen banana. A cute local ice cream store! They have quite a lot of flavors but they are mostly classics like cookies and cream, vanilla, mint chocolate chips etc. I got a kiddie size vanilla chocolate chip and my boyfriend got a cookies and cream milkshake. Both tasted pretty good and the price was not too bad considering it's in the UES! I think my ice cream was around $3-4 and the portion was not that small even though it was kiddie size. During many of my runs during the summer I lapped all around the UES and it helped me discover some businesses along the way. Of course during a hot sweaty run an ice cream break is a good reward. I keep it simple here with a soft serve black and white cone. They have an assortment of hard ice cream flavors, coffee and tea, milkshakes, and even frozen bananas. Kind of like a no-frills ice cream joint but gets the job done. Prices are ok and it was nice to support a small biz during the pandemic. read more

Charged my credit card in advance and when I came to pick up an ice cream cake it was not there. I spend a lot of time ordering this custom made cake. The staff had no idea about the order. Would not recommend! Staff also barely speaks English and it takes a while to get someone on the phone who can actually understand what the order. read more

I did not eat here but my niece kept saying she wanted to go to twists and I finally put it together that she wanted ice cream from Dubl Twisters. So we walked over, and she got a cup with two scoops, mint chip and chocolate. My brother ate most of the chocolate, but he also seemed very pleased with the decision the niece made for us to get ice cream. I asked her what she thought and she said, it's good, and continued to eat the mint chip and she asked me to take a pic of the ice cream, which I did. read more

This used to be a Dunkin Donuts and if you have ever been in it when it was DND, it still retains the same ambiance. We stopped here on the way back from the park, and the ice cream is pretty good. Nothing too fancy with a lot of kid friendly flavors. If you have a more sophisticated taste for ice cream, this is a bit basic. That being said their COVID-19 protocols are good and the staff is very friendly. read more

This establishment opened in the old Dunkin Donut shop. It serves ice cream, coffee and sells ice cakes. The place is clean, and the staff is welcoming. There are tables where you can sit down and enjoy your food. There are two other ice cream places on 1st avenue, but there are no tables to sit. I stopped by and got a banana milkshake. It was pretty ordinary, with a prevailing artificial flavor. When I opened the lid after drinking it all, I found a bug in my cup, which made me wish I had opened the lid earlier. I had also felt some small lumps while drinking that I attributed to the milkshake not being blended well, but I 'm hoping it wasn't more bugs :( read more

Dubl Twister is two blocks from our apartment and has become our go-to ice cream spot. Even in the middle of winter, we can't refuse a couple of scoops of our favorite flavors. My problem with restaurants is that when I find something good, I tend to get the same thing or a variation rather than trying a lot of other things. Didn't come for a few years for one reason or another but I've been working uptown/crosstown a lot lately, and this has become a regular stop on the way home. Their hard ice cream sundaes may be the best I've ever had. The medium with 3 scoops, of 1, 2, or 3 flavors, plenty of hot fudge and whipped cream, and walnuts (my choice) is perfect. Whipped cream stays firm, fudge doesn't get hard, walnut are crispy. Start there and try the other things. I may someday. read more

This is a hidden gem. Van Leeuwen had a long line on a summer night and I decided to check the other options in the area and came across Dubl Twister. A good variety of ice cream options, friendly service and good prices (cheaper than you will find at many ice cream spots). The ice cream is not as dense as you find at other places, a little more airy? (I think of Edy's slow churned ice cream if I compare to store bought). Loved the Cookie Monster ice cream! read more

A lovely new addition to the neighbourhood. Friendly owners, very clean, nice selection of flavours, reasonable prices and the ice cream tasted fresh and home made. And trust me, I definitely know ice cream. I had the mint explosion and chocolate and it was a good combination. Hope you experiment with some vegan flavours as well in the future. There's just something special about their gelato--especially when topped with that rich pistachio sauce. On a previous visit to their Times Square location, I had one of their more decadent creations: gelato with waffle sticks and pistachio sauce. It was absolutely heavenly and incredibly delicious. This time, I didn't have room for something quite as indulgent, but I still wanted something sweet after dinner at La Basque. The closest Amorino was in Greenwich Village, just a 10-minute walk away. That walk alone is always a treat--Greenwich Village is charming, pedestrian-friendly, and full of outdoor dining and energy, especially on a September Saturday afternoon. I grabbed my gelato to-go and chose the amarena and hazelnut flavors, topped with the signature pistachio sauce. They poured the sauce at the bottom of the cup, and it hardened slightly to create a delicious shell underneath the gelato. I enjoyed it while walking through the Village, soaking in the late-summer atmosphere of the city with gelato in hand. Simple, sweet, and exactly what I needed.

There were 15 people ahead of us and it took only 10 minutes. There were plenty of people working and helping, restocking and checking out. The parlor was adorable, everything was spotless and they had a restroom. This didn't feel like a New York experience where you have to eat standing up and you have to walk two blocks for the nearest public restroom. I felt comfortable with the street blocked off. It was a lovely stroll. I love this neighborhood!!!! Highly recommend a hop over to Anita's when you are done with lunch or dinner!
