We love this quaint local spot and were excited to try it when our favorite neighborhood cake maker was overbooked. In the end, we left both impressed and a little bummed by the experience -- impressed by the reliable execution and beautiful presentation, but missing some of the warmth and guidance that make a custom cake feel truly bespoke. The cream cheese frosting was excellent, and seeing our daughter's face when she saw her chess cake was a highlight of the day. The orange olive oil cake itself was fine -- not dry, but not especially moist or memorable -- and the decorative buttercream was greasy enough that most of it went uneaten. The process was very self-service and entirely email-driven, and at this price point (~$170 after tax and delivery), some additional guidance on flavors, sizing, and design choices would have been appreciated. It's understandable that they choose not to maintain a phone line for custom cake orders, but that choice inevitably shapes the customer experience. Overall, this was a dependable and efficient option that delivered a lovely-looking cake, but the experience felt closer to a polished, high-volume cake operation than an artisan custom bakery experience. I live a-crossed the street from here and have been in a handful of times. The staff is always really nice. There is a few chairs to wait in or have your treat as well as a small back patio. As for the food, the bacon, eggs, and cheese is good but heavy, you could probably split it between two people. The best muffin I've ever had was from here, the cinnamon crunch, however the banana chocolate chip was a little dry. I don't love the drinks, specifically the matcha just tastes like milk. Padoca is such a cute bakery! The space is bright, has seating in the back, and a local shop corner up front to support other small UES businesses! I ordered a vanilla bean latte, and the PDQ bacon egg and cheese sandwich. The latte was amazing and I absolutely will be coming back for coffee drinks! I think the price for what you get is great. I was a bit underwhelmed at the PDQ bacon egg and cheese though, for almost $12 to only have one egg on the sandwich, it left me feeling hungry after. The breakfast sandwich is about 90% bread and 10% filling - which to be fair it's made with their delicious house PDQ. However, since one PDQ is priced at $3.85, it's surprising that $7.90 is left for one egg, cheese, and a piece and a half of bacon. read more

Padoca Bakery is a wonderful addition to the Upper east side. As it has been open now for a while I have not been in alot of times. This coffee shop is not jist your typical one. In the front of the store they sell cute decorations for birthdays and have delicious treats. They also have items for dogs. TL; DR: The *sweetest* little smash cake! I stumbled upon this bakery on Instagram and instantly fell in love with their vibe and offerings! My babygirl was turning 1-year-old in less than one week, and although I had a birthday party planned for a few weeks later -- I completely spaced on getting her a little cake to smash at home! Padoca Bakery, to the rescue! I was able to browse their smash cake selections via their super user-friendly website (which is a HUGE DEAL to me as a busy toddler mama of two.) I also loved that there were options for icing color, cake flavor, and cake filling. For such an important occasion, I appreciated being able to have a small say in this aspect, even without being present to place the order in person. Since I live out of delivery range, I scheduled pick-up for baby girl's actual birthday and picked it up without a hitch. The bakery itself is very cute, customer service was top tier, and you can just feel that it's a sweet neighborhood spot. This is the new second location on UES. Close to trains by 86 St and 1st Ave. The PDQ (cheese bread) is really good. Crispy on the outside and soft and airy on the inside. It's good hot on it's own or they also have it as a sandwich. I'll have to try those. For sweets, I got the coconut macaroon. It had good coconut flavors. Asked them for the ghost latte that's been viral and they said sorry we don't make espresso drinks after after 4:45 because it delays our closing time.. first of all got there just in time and I tried to call them before hand but they have no number online which is unprofessional and then on the menu it said they turn any iced drink into a ghost latte and then I said okay ill do another iced drink if you can make that into a ghost latte and I chose the cold brew and she said no we can't. He was making a ghost drink while I was standing there for another customer too but for some reason they couldn't make me one... they didn't deserve my business but I still got the cold brew anyways because I drove one hour for this bakery. Couldn't even accommodate me. The cold brew was also disgusting, he literally threw cold brew and barely any milk. Never again. All this is for looks tasteless drinks wouldn't recommend. read more

Absolutely adorable, dog-friendly bakery! I love that they welcome my pup whenever I dine in and are laid back about staying a while when I'm there chatting with a friend. They also have a little outdoor seating area which is a great place to enjoy a nice day. The cookie butter latte and the guava brigadeiro are great for the occasional decadent treat. Their baked goods are pretty good, but my go-tos are the PDQ with guava jam, or the BEC on a PDQ during their breakfast hours. Sometimes a bit greasy, but it's scrumptious cheesy bread so I expect that, and it has a great crust. I've also tried their orange olive oil loaf which is also yummy, though a tad too oily. Been going to Padoca ever since they had their original spot in the 70s, so when they opened up near my apartment I was so happy. And I've found that sometimes a walk to Padoca and getting their pao de queijo (PDQ as they call it) is the perfect way to kick off your day.
