Today's mission is Matto on East 70th off 1st Avenue. 08/05/21

Matto Espresso at 403 East 70th Street is very efficient. They have a steady stream of customers. There's NO counter with stools inside. There's plenty of seating outside and it's nice today, cool and cloudy. I felt welcome here as soon as I walked in. I recognized the employee from the other location. She let me take her photo but is bashful. She gave me permission to post her doing her work. She's very good at her job. She works at any Matto location when she's needed. She's what we used to call a floater. The other employee today was also friendly and efficient. Paying cash makes it quick. I like this location. I recommend you visit if you are nearby!

False Advertisement it's $3.00 at register

I was assisted by Anastasia at this location and she wasn't the nicest person to interact with. They have a sign out front that says $2.50 on app and $2.75 at register. When all of my order was complete and I was rung up I realized she is charging me $3.00 per item. I explained to her that the sign out front says $2.75 and register and she proceeded to says yea it's $2.75 on app plus tax. I tried to explain to her that it's actually $2.50 plus tax on app and the sign is saying it's 2.75 plus tax AT REGISTER. She wasn't understanding this concept and wouldn't honor the price they were advertising out front. It's fine if they updated their prices, but their signs need to reflect that because we order based on the menu/signs within our price range.

Best secret of NYC! Their iced latte with oat milk is one of the best I've had in and for $2.... You can't beat it! Make sure to download their app and place your order through there for the $2 price. I wish there was a Matto's near me instead of overrated and overpriced Starbucks.

Gluten Gluten-Free Power Bar Vegan Gluten-Free Lemon Baked Doughnut

Stopped by this spot on my walk to WCMC, grabbed a ginger tumeric tea and then saw the two amazing treats in the window. I got a power bar but was tempted by the donut. It was really soft and flavorful, definitely hits the spot if you are hungry for a snack. I was also surprised by the price for NYC. $2.75 for the bar.

Ordered three drinks. Came in to find one missing. Barista was drinking it. Had to tell her to make me another one. Will not be coming back.

Wanted to write this review based on the wheelchair accessibility and laptop areas…read more There are coffee shops in the neighborhood with laptop rules that say you have to sit at the high tables. Obviously as a wheelchair user, I cannot sit at the high tables, and when I have asked the staff for understanding, other places have denied me. Ines let me use my laptop at a wheelchair accessible table without any fuss. Mark was very gracious. When I asked, he said, "we will make an exception." I felt heard without advocating for common sense and I greatly appreciate the humility. Thank you!

The place is cute and small. They have good happy hour prices on wine. The food we tried wasn't…read moreso great. My friend had been here before and raved about the escargot and meatballs. The escargot was covered with pesto that tasted like the basil wasn't fresh. Also, I'm sure there was plenty of garlic because the restaurant smelled like it, but I would have liked more garlic in this dish. The meatballs were mostly bread (there may have been some meat). After we complained, the item was removed from our bill by our friendly, polite, and conscientious server. Note: This is a French restaurant, but they didn't have any butter for the bread.

Breads Bakery does a fab job with holiday preorders. The process was seamless and so much better…read morethan stressing out and running to multiple locations to try to get doughnuts. They have a table to pickup preorders so you don't have to wait in the main line. I ordered a dozen for $39. You can select your assortment. Here's my review in order from the best to the least desirable, according to our group. Vanilla custard- the filling was thick and speckled with vanilla beans. It wasn't too sweet. This was the best according to our group. Strawberry filled- this is most traditional and Breads Bakery does a nice job. The jam is homemade. Pistachio- this doughnut was filled with smooth pistachio cream and was topped with a few pieces of pistachio. Not traditional, but they did a good job. Chocolate- the filling tasted like a semisweet or bittersweet cream/custard. Like the others, it was smooth. The vanilla was more popular among our group and I personally didn't love this doughnut. Mango- this was the one that those in my group felt missed the mark. It wasn't cloyingly sweet, so that was good, but the filling didn't do anything for us either. If you're looking for a mango dessert the one at Lysée is a real winner.
