I've always frequent the french workshop at Bayside so I am aware of all their offerings! What's better at Astoria is all the seating they have! The location is bigger, more spacious and as you walk in on the left, you see the kitchen, which was pretty neat. Came to Astoria to meet a friend and spent some time here. I usually pick up bread or dessert but this time, we had some breakfast sandwiches and bakery items as well as some drinks. Food was good- heated when requested. Croissants were also very good. I ordered a matcha latte and they have two options- sweetened or unsweetened (powder) and I chose the sweetened which felt a little too sweet for my liking. At the end we picked up some bombolonis to go which were all very good- not too sweet and the donut part was nice and light.

This upscale bakery in Astoria with cute, bright white indoor seating has a fine selection of baked goods and sweet drinks. I wanted a nice pumpkin spice latte during the cold winter and I made an excellent choice - the pumpkin flavor came out nicely despite how it was a bit too sweet. The cookies were solid - normally I like them smaller and right out the oven but the amount of butter in this cookie made it fun to chew and taste. I liked the almond cookie more for it sweetness level. The absolut vanilla was a nice combination of vanilla (I didn't see the beans?) and was quite lemon-y. The staff were friendly too, I liked the glass wall when you could see the chefs work their magic. I'll come back for sure, I just need to be watch my sugar intake!

Desserts 4/5 Service 4.5/5 Ambiance 5/5 This spot offers beautifully made pastries that they are less overwhelmingly sweet than many other French bakeries. The quality is decent, with the fruits consistently fresh and every item thoughtfully constructed and reasonably priced The Raspberry Cake (4.25/5): Probably my favorite out of them all. I loved the cream to cake balance and the very generous amount of fresh raspberries Berry Fruit Tart (4.25/5): Wonderfully creamy with an abundance of fresh fruit on top Pistachio Cake (4/5): The pistachio element was a little on the sweeter side, but I loved being able to taste and feel the pistachio pieces in every bite Also did not love the handwriting on the chocolate for my pistachio cake :/

Let me tell you that this pistachio gateau vanilla cake with caramelized pistachio, pistachio ganache and pistachio mousse really is made perfectly! Just right with layered notes of pistachio in a rich vanilla cake. It's nice for birthdays or any day for cake lovers. We went to the French Workshop in Astoria and will come back to try other desserts when we are up for it. Worth revisiting for sure! Great service and the associate pumped a thumbs-up sign at my sister when he found out she was taking a picture of him doing the writing on our sister's birthday cake.

I spent a lottt of time here during the summer (when I needed a good place to focus for my business. The interior is superrr cute! They have amazing coffee & great pastries. My go-to was an oatmilk caramel macchiato and a butter croissant. Very clean, lots of great options. Seating fills up fast a lot

Got the fruit tarts here - both vanilla and chocolate versions were good and firm tarts themselves. The cream was a little too sweet for me but I appreciate that it has a custard flavor vs ones such as at Martha's.

This cafe is a lovely place to come do work. The atmosphere is very quiet with chill music playing in the background. There's a LOT of seating, most of which has an outlet near it - perfect for those needing a place to work. I came here both yesterday and today and I ordered the same thing each time: a medium Lavender Lemonade. I'm not happy to report that the lemonades differed in taste each day, yesterday's being better... Today, they left out the lavender syrup that is supposed to sit at the bottom. Additionally, the lemonade has a TON of pulp in it today, whereas yesterday it did not. I've yet to try their coffee or one of their endless varieties of scrumptious looking pastries, but I'll definitely be back to try them soon. I'm *hoping* that today was just an unfortunate mishap and that they are typically actually consistent in the making of their beverages. I'll update this review later once I've tried a few more things!

This place just opened by Broadway station in Astoria. It is a sweet tooth's heaven! Every kind of pastry imaginable and they offer coffee too. One of our favorite cakes is called The Duke, a super thick chocolate mousse with graham cracker on the bottom. It basically tastes like a very rich s'mores chocolate cake. We have also tried their peach tart and Oreo cake. They also offer writing on the cakes for special occasions. The space is huge with ample seating. It feels very relaxing to be inside and would make a great spot to catch up with a friend or even read a book while enjoying a pastry and coffee.

How did this bakery opening fly under the radar for a month?! This is a PERFECT addition to the Broadway area of Astoria, just steps away from the subway. Walking in, you are transported to a peaceful oasis--with sights of the bakers working their magic and ample seating with free WiFi. Now for the pastries...WOW. There is a massive variety of treats with flavors that are not easily found elsewhere (matcha banana bread, coconut pound cake, pistachio cream and raspberry shortcake). Definitely do not skip the cookies either!

Overwhelmed is the best way to describe the French workshop. I was looking for a cozy bakery/cafe. Instead, I found a huge cafe, almost the size of one of those Shake Shack, with an enormous amount of seating, cakes, and desserts scattered throughout the space, so given the limited time I was there, I would say that my first evaluation may be a little biased, as I felt very rushed. There was too much to choose from in such a limited time, and they were set up in such a way that makes you want to sit there for hours drinking expensive coffees and eating desserts, all the while using your laptop for work or schoo/ The eatery is embedded in a ground-floor, almost basement-like dwelling. I do not remember what was there before, but they sure hollowed out a very large dining area with lounge-like seating. I did not find my little white chocolate cake terribly exciting, but that could have been just due to the mood I was in at the time. So my conclusion is somewhat limited. I think three stars is the right grade for now, but I plan to certainly pay them another visit. All I can say is that they are worth a second chance!

SOOOOO excited for The French Workshop's grand opening in Astoria. I've been going to the Bayside location for the past couple of years and was so eager to hear they were expanding :) The space itself is HUGE. There are plenty of spots to dine-in and I noticed outlets at every seating area - which is super convenient. I also loved that when you walk in, there's an open kitchen & you can watch the bakers bake the pastries. Although everything looked so fresh, I was full from dinner, ended up just ordering a Nutella hot chocolate & it was perfect. If the line gets too long, there are also screens to mobile order. Will definitely be one of my go-to spots. Welcome!!

Chocolate cheesecake and another chocolate dessert ok/good not great

I came here with my husband and my sister for dessert. It's a cute bakery with plenty of seating. We all thought the desserts we had were just ok, and not good enough for a repeat visit. We had some cookies, a carrot cake, a chocolate cheesecake, a cheesecake brownie, and some other chocolate dessert. They were all just ok with the chocolate cheesecake being the best of all, but still not great. The worst was the cheesecake brownie. It wasn't chocolaty and the cheesecake on top tasted off. With all the dessert places in Astoria this one isn't worth a visit.

Finally checked this off my list! So glad there's one that's more accessible now than Garden City whenever we used to go to for Mazda service. This space is huge, clean, and has plenty of seats! I love how bright the whole area is. I've only ordered my usual go to Americano and chocolate croissant and a Nutella Beignet and it was pretty good. I especially appreciate that the Americano was done thoughtfully and didn't seem watered down. Their music selection is also pretty relaxing, so much so that I even felt compelled to just take off my air pods and listen to their selection. The staff seemed warm and friendly and at one point, they also offered chocolate truffles to try so that was a wonderful touch! Lastly, there are 2 toilets both of which seemed clean and maintained well. I hope this branch stays pretty consistent! Keep it up and looking forward to try some more of your yummy pastries! :)

The 7 layer cake is a beautiful work of art and the taste marches. Its a vanilla cake with chocolate frosting topped with strawberry and chocolate mouse. Note to the wise, don't make the same mistake I did. Always look at your cake once it is placed in the box. The display cake looked good, then I did not get to inspect the cake before it was placed in the box. Once I arrived home, I saw that the top part of the cake had a dent in the mouse and strawberry covering which made it look messy. It was an embarrassment to present it as such so I improvised by using the mother's day signage to cover up the blip. When I called to speak with the location about it they dealt with it very professionally and were apologetic about the situation and offered a comp. It was such a relief to have customer service go right after experiencing that.

We had low expectations, realizing it was in the middle of Times Square, assuming it would be a tourist trap like most places in Times Square. We were pleasantly surprised! It had really good crispness and delicious filling, which was vanilla forward (used to normal custard). Didn't try anything else except the lobster tail. They have other flavors as well -- we will try the Nutella flavored lobster tail next! AMBIANCE: Super small place (expected) so it's take away only. Would come back if I'm in the area again, although I tend to avoid due to crowds.

It's a simple classic cookie that's crispy on the edges and chewy in the center without being undercooked or gooey. This is not for the people who usually prefer the mound styled cookies that levain has, but as a fellow levain fan, I personally loved this cookie a lot. I especially feel that a lot of cookies have too much chocolate in them, but I'm obsessed with the dough part of chocolate chip cookies. This cookie was a really good balance and it was delicious until the last bite. Gonna be an obsession for a while for sure. Other things to know the staff were pretty friendly and greeting when I walked in. It's a small place. No particular seating area available. Great to walk in grab what you want and leave. I did also try their tomato focaccia which was delicious. The Dubai croissant however, was not it. The filling was dry and the croissant had also dried out, so it was just a flaky chalky mess. But definitely go for the cookies and breads.

It had a delicious nutty flavor which was more pronounced than the typical browned butter nuttiness. The combination of the bitter Valhrona dark chocolate and sweeter milk chocolate chips balanced out the cookie very well. The rainbow cookies were not great - they were just wannabe rainbow cookies. You can't just call a cookie a rainbow cookie because it looks like one. Some things should remain traditional, this is one of them. Traditional rainbow cookies are made with almond paste, jam, and chocolate. There is no almond paste in this cookie which completely threw off the texture. There is a layer of marzipan in these cookies which in my opinion destroyed the balance of the cookie - far too sweet and oddly textured. The cake layer is just regular cake with food coloring instead of the soft/ moist almond frangipane-like cake. The cookies were beautiful, but were very disappointing. Service was quick and friendly.

We were going in to the MET for a tour and only had time for something quick. I'm not sure if they bake everything in house but it does feel more like they get smaller batches of things maybe frozen and then stick them in the oven and fill them. It doesn't taste the freshest, the croissant dough isn't as pillowy, crispy on the outside and full of layers and flakes that I'm regularly used to. I'm always happy eating anything with nutella so that was still a win, wish it was more in line with the regular Angelina experience.
