I gave this place a few chances because I've been a customer for the past 12 years. I buy everything from here for all my occasions all year round. I spend around 3k a year here. I expect respect when asking a question. Last week I bought a strawberry short cake. It was one of the horrible ones that I've been getting lately. The strawberries are almost like rotten. The cake itself is so very extra extra sweeter than usual. The little thin sponge started to have a red dye. I pay for good quality not for the red 40 color. The bakery chef is one nasty man. He thinks because he bakes everything he's the big boss. Also he is very rude. And last week is the last time I spend my money there. read more

Pastries were fresh and tasty, coffee was excellent and the service was very much appreciated. The place is not the fanciest and there were tons of flies roaming around the front outdoor seating area-- but there was also a huge filled dumpster in front, so maybe that explains the flies. I stopped in at Noisette this weekend while visiting our son in NYC. The desk attendant at our hotel recommended it and I'm happy he did. My husband and I each had a chocolate croissant the first day and went back the next day for more as they were delicious. Muffins were tasty as well. I stopped in here for a pastry a couple weeks ago shortly before going to the fantastic Abuqir nearby. As per most of the other places on the block, the people working here speak Arabic also. I got a chocolate pastry which the woman called a pain chocolat though in terms of texture/shape, it really a pain suisse (sans custard.) It was pretty cheap (3 maybe) and quite tasty. Good amount of chocolate and nice buttery pastry. My only issue with the place is the one noted by a couple others that the person in here doesn't wear a mask properly. Outside of this pastry, they had a mix of other French pastries here including some good looking tarts and other related goods. Mid 3 though I'll lower due to the cleanliness. read more

The desserts here are amazing and I come here for the Mille feuille because it is so delicious but the service sucksssss! It's terrible. I came here from California just to get a piece of mille feuille. The girl behind the counter was so rude. I asked her for a fork and she just pointed to an area behind me. No "thanks for coming in" no "how can I help you" when I walked in. The bathroom is gross: no toilet paper, no soap (which is incredibly important all the time but especially during COVID-19). Ahhh yes...French-Moroccan pastries. For me, the best of the best sweets. Beautiful to look at and delicious to eat. Just simply amazing..... Location- off Astoria in Queens New York. The cute little hole in the wall quaint place is a hidden gem. The area around is not too overly crowded. Interior- simple, a bit small but cozy. Great for small chat or hanging out with friends. An intimate and quaint vibe. Again, fancy name but interior super simple. The pastries- oh yes! Beautiful to look at and super fresh. Compliments to the pastry chef on such beautiful displays. There were so many to choose from but I ended up getting the Mille feuille and coconut slice custard. Very soft and fresh. You can tell that everything was just made that same day. Nice pastry shop in the heart of Little Egypt Visited here last Saturday. The cafe was packed, and it was hard to get a table. I ordered coffee and chocolate mouse cake. Despite the cramped seating arrangements. All in all great dessert. I would recommend coming after enjoying a middle eastern meal at one of the nearby eateries. Only had a quick stop off here while I was around Astoria, just off of Steinway on 30th ave so it was easily accessible, nice and homey on the inside. **Not suitable for babies in strollers though, watch your step coming in too =.=" The average price of the French pastries was cheaper than most places. From what I glimpsed in the display, there were plenty of (quite colourful) choices catering to any and all sweet-tooth craving. I had tried the Praline cake and at only $4 was a very good deal for the size. The slice wasn't overly sweet, you could taste the hazelnut element through the cream, the sponge was very soft, good ratio of sponge and cream layers. It didn't leave that 'heavy' feeling in your stomach but satisfied my craving. Husband's thoughts (yes I shared :D) - Had given it a 9/10 and he can be quite specific, so that's a testament in itself. In saying this, he did think the cafe was in need of a serious facelift as it's a bit dated. Wife's thoughts - I ate it before I could take a picture.....That says everything haha! The only con, I wish there was more! I look forward to trying their other selections and also their coffee, hopefully dining in as it looked pleasant inside. *promises to take photos next time* UPDATE: had their chocolate croissant, latte, royal chocolate cake and chocolate au pain (?). The latte was HUGE at $4, you could add syrups if you please. The chocolate croissant was a bit hard but enjoyable. The chocolat au pain had a velvety custardy taste, very nice! The royal chocolate cake was silky, once again noisette has achieved balance with flavour profiles of the different layers. Everything here is fresh and absolutely divine. Try the choco croissants, msemen, gallate almonde... you just can't go wrong! I haven't been since before Covid, but prior, it used to be so cozy and nice to sit inside with a hot coffee and a delicious pastry or grab a table on the outside patio. Truly European feel. Love it! I've been next door to my favorite seafood restaurant plenty of times, but I've never noticed this pastry shop. After experiencing an amazing meal at my seafood spot, I thought about the "after party" my tastebuds would have after some pastries. We walked into the traditional looking pastry shop. We were greeted by pleasant workers, which almost transported me to France. One of the workers spoke French, which was really cool. She was learning English! We ordered about 6 mini fruit tarts! We walked out and actually began eating outside the door. We almost turned around to grab more! We were too stuffed to actually do it though. The fruit tarts were really good, the bottom pastry was flaky and buttery, the fruit was fresh and sweet, and the fruit jelly was so good and not too sweet. This place is super duper fantastic. This is a good 7 or 8 blocks from Broadway or Astoria Blvd(closed for renovation btw). The ladies at the front counter are warm and friendly. Also, the baked goods in the glass window look heavenly and smell deliciously awesome. I ordered a fruit tart and a cream puff. They were both so amazing. It's ineffable, the light airy taste of said puff. I want to go back and buy a dozen of those beautifully presented pan au chocolat. Sooo scrumptious. I did see Moroccan tea on the menu which sounds like so much fun. Not sure if they have wi-fi, but they do accept credit card. This cafe is a little hidden gem in Astoria! Not only are their pastries and cakes beautiful to look at but they always taste fresh and delicious. The strawberry shortcake is my all time favorite. It's very creamy, almost like an airy cheesecake and it's filled with fresh strawberries in between. Their cakes are typically $3.50 a slice and it's totally worth it; they even have mini personal cakes as well. The almond cake is also very scrumptious and it definitely pairs well with a good cup of coffee or cappuccino. My least favorite would be the chocolate caramel cake, it looks very pretty and decadent but didn't taste as anticipated. However, I do always appreciate that the cakes aren't overly sweet or too frosted which is the main reason I frequent this cafe. read more

Based on the previous reviews, this place has gotten really dirty and gross in the past months, and that shows me they're probably not following good manufacturing practice which is leading to contaminated food. Riding my bicycle between 25th Avenue and Steinway, I almost fell off it when I saw a new French pastry shop. Noisette, which is French for hazelnut, stirred my longing for Ferrero Rocher like creations. Although the name defines the pastry chef owner's passion for hazelnut, it was his passion fruit mango coconut cake that called out my name. So among the beautiful assortment of pastries in the refrigerated display case, I reserved for another time the hazelnut torte, opera etc., ignored the fresh croissants and French bread and chose the passion fruit-mango coconut cake. It was a delectable combination of passion fruit and mango with a slight hint of coconut on a light sponge cake. Paired with coffee, it made my afternoon perfect, and required me to put in more time on the bicycle to pedal the calories away.Then again, biking a few blocks makes me want to sit at a cafe and have a snack, so I may be in for a losing battle. :) Noisette is a great addition to the row of restaurants between 25th Avenue and Steinway as one can imagine having the lamb tagine at Little Morroco or the seafood at Sabry and capping the night with some pastries and coffee at Noisette.:) read more

I truly wish there were more French bakeries in Astoria. I lived in Paris for some time and this is about as close as it gets in the area. Are there more authentic in NYC, sure. But why get on the train?! This is a fantastic bakery with a good selection of pastries. I wanted to ask the pastry chef a question but I don't think he spoke English or French. It's Moroccan operated so maybe he did speak French and I didn't catch him in time. The macaroons were pretty nice in flavor and texture and cannot find one similar without going downtown, so in the end, I'm happy. It's a cute spot and I will be back for a croissant and espresso one morning soon. read more

The coconut had no coconut taste as well and again was just sweet. Sweet has to be accompanied by the actual taste of the fruit, not just sugary... The caramel chocolate cake was decent, no caramel taste, has caramel texture but not too sweet and wasn't too bad. The crossaint was not as fresh as I thought it would be... it wasn't crunchy and soft with the melt in the mouth texture like crossaint I've had before. HOWEVER, I can only give Noisette 2 stars because, well, the service is consistently terrible. The staff seems to be always on the phone (mumbling into their air buds), ignoring you, are distracted and often messing up your order. Just now I ordered 2 chocolate and 1 plain croissant - only to find out at home that the plain croissant is missing. She completely didn't hear my order because she's too busy talking on her phone! Also - you never get "Good Morning" back, or even a "Thank You" when you tip them; they just don't care. This french pastry shop is so out of place on Steinway but who knows, maybe it will work because the neighborhood has no other European pastry shop. Since they've opened I've tried their macrons, strawberry shortcake, and chocolate croissant. The macrons are decent but definitely not up to the caliber of Laduree, on the bright side they are only $1.50 each. The strawberry shortcake was nothing I was expecting. Instead of a light, slightly sweet cake, it was the exact opposite. Don't get me wrong, it was good but just a little bit on the denser, sweeter side. The chocolate croissant was a huge disappointment. They literally only squeezed a line of chocolate into that large croissant, they could have done a much better job of filling it with nutella.
