Establishment appears to be new, with limited seating; however extremely clean. Freshly made pastries and coffee.; the baklava and cannolis were very flavorful and fresh. The staff extremely friendly and courteous.

Heard about this place on social media. Somehow the bakers are associated with the now closed yiayias bakery which I miss! So had to try it. The bread is just as delicious as Yiayias bakery, service very friendly and the kourambiedes were some of the best I've had lately. Delicious! Need to return to try more things

I was one of those people that was saddened by the closing of Yaya's Bakery in Astoria a few months ago. So when I heard that that the same owner/baker has opened a new bakery, I made sure to go and support them on their first day of business. This new spot is much cozier and brighter. And the pastries all looked amazing. I ended up getting a half pount of Amygdalota ($12.50) and a slice of Nutella Baklava ($4.75) The owner was so incredibly kind and welcoming. She threw in a few pastries in my bag for free! She said that they were nearing closing time so she wanted to give some on the house for me to try. How kind is that?! When I got home I saw she gave me two muffins (chocolate and berry), a sesame bread and chocolate croissant. I can't wait to eat these! The Amygdalota (Greek sytle almond cookies) were delicious. They were so light, soft and chewy but with a crunchy exterior. The Baklava was rich and sweet. I don't usually lean toward overly sweet pastries but I liked this one. The flaky phyllo doug and chopped nuts went well with the sweet filling. Malu is a welcome addition to this neighborhood. I hope more people support them.

Great new bakery find. The chocolate croissants are great. The owner I think is the same from Yaya bakery I haven't been there but sounds like a popular one. Tons of baked goods, it's a Greek bakery Café. Nice place to stop location near Steinway subway. Prices are reasonable I haven't tried too many of their pastry, but the ekmek was good. I have to go back and try some of the other things. I had an eclair once, that was good too. Mostly stopped in for breakfast muffins or croissants in the morning, and these are good. Would definitely go back next time I'm walking in the area.

We've ordered several cakes over the years for coworkers' birthdays, and each one has been beautifully made as well as absolutely delicious. One cake that truly stands out is The Crunchy. It's a perfect balance of flavors and textures, made with layers of vanilla sponge cake, rich chocolate mousse, dark chocolate, and caramelized hazelnuts. The fact that it's available in both individual and family sizes makes it even better for any occasion. I loved it so much that I personally ordered the Crunchy cake for my husband's birthday, and it was a huge hit. Beyond cakes, I've also ordered macarons, cupcakes, Oreo pops, cookies and pastries, and a variety of other desserts on different occasions. Everything has been consistently fresh, mouth watering delicious, and beautifully presented. The French Workshop never fails to impress, whether it's for a small personal celebration or a larger group. It's a bakery I confidently recommend for anyone looking for high-quality desserts with amazing taste.

Unfortunately I don't remember the names well but the first one was a peanut butter croissant and the second was a cold brew doughnut type of dessert. The peanut butter one didn't have peanut butter anywhere expect for the dollop that fell to the side. It itself was just a croissant with dark chocolate up top which was a little boring for me and the cold brew doughnut not only didn't taste like coffee at all but had barely any filling. That being said, I did give them 4 starts because I know they have a lot of great desserts. I would recommend getting the Tiramisu or the Crème brûlée if you are ever here. The coffee is always super consistent and great as well and service is great too! They always try to help those on line as soon as possible and make your drinks in a timely manner! This cute little dessert and coffee shop is definitely a great place to try different desserts and chat with some friends!

It's absolutely amazing, and the filling is very generous--it feels like heaven in every bite. Another favorite of mine is the chocolate layer cake: rich, velvety smooth chocolate that isn't overly sweet. The only thing I don't agree with is that they do not clearly tell customers that dining in adds an extra $1 charge to each item. Yes, check your receipt. I'm expected to tip my waitstaff and also pay an extra dollar per item just because I chose to dine in. For example, the cupcake is usually $4.75 to go, but they charged me an extra $1 for dining in. Their cake slices are usually $9.50 to go, but I was charged $10.50. I also tipped 20%, so the added charge felt frustrating, especially since there was no clear notice. When I asked the waitstaff about the $1 charge, she said it was entered that way because I dined in. When I later called about it, the manager simply said, "Next time, just order to go if you don't want to be charged extra." That response was disappointing, especially since there was no visible sign explaining this policy, and their dine-in menu does not show separate pricing. I really think management should fix this to avoid misleading customers. Transparency matters. Don't get me wrong--I would still come back because their cakes are amazing, but from now on, I'll always order everything to go.

Over the years, I have tried many of their desserts since it's one of the only decent dessert options around the area. However, it would not be my first choice if I had others. With that said, my whole family and many of my friends all agree that their best item is the Berry Napoleon. That is the one cake that I do enjoy from this shop. We often buy a whole cake for a group gathering or birthdays. As for dining in, there's always a lot of people inside the store and it gets a bit loud. Not my favorite place to relax and chat with my friends. That's why I only buy takeout when I do get the Berry Napoleon. I think I do prefer the Astoria original location more.
