The guy hooked it up and was super sweet. He gave me way more than $18 worth of stuff. He gave me 4 desserts (individually packaged), one croissant, 2 mini spinach pies and 2 other pastries. However, these are either old photos or a business with the same name (honestly not really sure). The staff was super friendly and the prices are more than reasonable! However, my Flat White was watery and lacked that bold coffee flavor you would expect. The Vanilla syrup gave it some nice sweetness but it ultimately fell flat. The Brown Butter Cinnamon Brioche Roll looked homemade and although was a bit dense for my liking, it was decent! The Vanilla Cream Cheese Frosting could be eaten by the spoonful! There isn't really anywhere to sit (contrary to some photos show) and ultimately didn't meet the mark for me.

While the outside awning notes "The Little Coffee Shop", to my understanding "To Laiko" means "The people's" in Greek. I'm not sure how long they've been around, but they've been a fixture for as long as I've stepped foot in the borough (#1). This has certainly been a place that has been for the people (#2), which is always a great sign. They're among the only folks to my knowledge that sell authentic bougatsa, a breakfast phyllo rich specialty pastry that skews sweet and is enjoyed best with tea and/or coffee. They also have an excellent selection of spanakopita, which is Greece's most famous pastry containing feta and spinach. (#3) The kasseri cheese pie is also not to be missed, along with koulouri (sesame circular bread rolls), savory pastries, and the occasional loukamade (aka Greek donut). Prices aren't back breaking, but they've crept up over the years. While I think they accept credit card, it's always best to go with cash here to avoid any upcharges. Service from Angela is sweet and cordial and I prefer getting a drink with several pies on the go since seating is minimal. My hope is that this review helps others find them, since this is a place not to be missed. It was always a pleasant experience. At some point, a macho-looking guy started working there, and almost every time we ordered, he would mess up either my order or my friend's. When I brought back the wrong drink, he not only failed to apologize but would grumpily exchange it for the correct item. If it had happened only once or twice, I would have dismissed it as him having a bad day. But since it kept happening so frequently, we eventually stopped going there. Too bad, because the café itself is nice, cozy, and inviting.
