My delicious snack.
Charles C.

Here this morning waiting for my wife, and writing this update. I usually order the lemon tart which is heavenly. Today I ordered the apple crumb pie served literally on a silver platter (see picture), and a decaf iced latte. I absolutely am loving both. The background music is soothing and leans towards smooth jazz and easy listening. I hope the owner sees this review, but if they would mix in some nice french music to heighten the cultural vibe, I would rate this cafe 5 stars. If you are craving sweets, this is the place to go.

It's definitely been a while since I last came to French Workshop, but as always I really like their selection. I had their crunchy, absolute vanilla, and profiterole. Crunchy is my favorite here, to me, it tastes like a giant Ferraro rocher! As a vanilla lover, the absolute vanilla was something I really liked. Profiterole was interesting to me, it's like a chocolatey cream puff dessert dish.

Excellent desserts and coffee its great to dip your coffee outside Most of all the people make this place better. Kat is amazing, helpful, happy and kind.

Okay so I want to say I love this place but I feel like I can't say it with the desserts that I tried the other day. Unfortunately I don't remember the names well but the first one was a peanut butter croissant and the second was a cold brew doughnut type of dessert. The peanut butter one didn't have peanut butter anywhere expect for the dollop that fell to the side. It itself was just a croissant with dark chocolate up top which was a little boring for me and the cold brew doughnut not only didn't taste like coffee at all but had barely any filling. That being said, I did give them 4 starts because I know they have a lot of great desserts. I would recommend getting the Tiramisu or the Crème brûlée if you are ever here. The coffee is always super consistent and great as well and service is great too! They always try to help those on line as soon as possible and make your drinks in a timely manner! This cute little dessert and coffee shop is definitely a great place to try different desserts and chat with some friends!

The French Workshop proudly showcases signature pastries, cakes, croissants, and sandwiches. I came back to The French Workshop to purchase some breakfast items. I ordered an almond croissant ($4.50), Nutella croissant ($4.25), and matcha white chocolate bombolini ($5.50). The croissants were flaky and buttery. The matcha white chocolate bombolini was super soft and light. The middle had a matcha white chocolate filling, but wasn't much. I wish it had more of the smooth pastry cream. The French Workshop does have high quality pastries, but I prefer their desserts.

Claudine and I stopped by The French Workshop in Bayside for a coffee and sweet treat fix - and boy, did we get it! Despite the crowd, our barista crafted perfect mocha latte and cappuccino with impeccable foam and flavor. But the real showstoppers were the pastries we took home for ladies' game night: crème brûlée, apple crumble, lemon tart, and tiramisu. We paused our Five Crowns game to devour these stunners - they were GONE in minutes! The holiday decor and those adorable nutcrackers added such a special touch - it truly felt like a winter wonderland in there. If you're looking for a host gift or just want to treat yourself, these four pastries are must-haves. Highly recommend!

9/21/25 - Happy Birthday Baby! (The Crunchy Cake)

The French Workshop has become our go-to bakery for celebrating birthdays at work and it never disappoints. We've ordered several cakes over the years for coworkers' birthdays, and each one has been beautifully made as well as absolutely delicious. One cake that truly stands out is The Crunchy. It's a perfect balance of flavors and textures, made with layers of vanilla sponge cake, rich chocolate mousse, dark chocolate, and caramelized hazelnuts. The fact that it's available in both individual and family sizes makes it even better for any occasion. I loved it so much that I personally ordered the Crunchy cake for my husband's birthday, and it was a huge hit. Beyond cakes, I've also ordered macarons, cupcakes, Oreo pops, cookies and pastries, and a variety of other desserts on different occasions. Everything has been consistently fresh, mouth watering delicious, and beautifully presented. The French Workshop never fails to impress, whether it's for a small personal celebration or a larger group. It's a bakery I confidently recommend for anyone looking for high-quality desserts with amazing taste.

I already wrote a review for The French Workshop but they're just so great that I decided to write a second review haha. I got the spinach puff pastry & passionfruit macaron. Both were great. The staff was also great & very patient as well. I wish I had a French Workshop location closer to me but Bayside is not too far from me :).

My favorite bakery in bayside hands down. They're desserts are perfect for bringing to loved ones, they'll always impress! And the coffee is always delicious.

Get the tiramisu! That is a must. Service was fast and friendly. Street parking could be difficult but there's metered parking too

Nice holiday crowd

Some of the best coffee I've ever had! I'm not into fancy coffee orders so I can't help with that. Their regular coffee however was simply outstanding. The small is indeed quite small, so order accordingly. They have a wide selection of pastries which looked delicious! Service was fast, friendly & accurate.

Came here with fellow Yelp elites Mei C and Lonnie K. and we got few macarons and a slice of cake to dine in. I got the lavender, raspberry, passion fruit, cookies and cream. The lavender was my favorite. You can taste the lavender and I love lavender. Raspberry was kind too sweet. Place is very nice with the round, marble tables and sofa along the wall. A lot of people though and all you hear is people talking with their coffee and desserts. There is outdoor seating as well but it gets really hot outdoors versus the central air indoors.

Pistachio Mille Feuille
Tanya M.

Yum yum yum!!! I've had their crunchy cake and a few pastries before and have always loved everything, but this order really blew me away. My sister-in-law and I picked up a spread for our Emily in Paris binge (very on theme), and every bite delivered. We tried the Pistachio Mille-Feuille, Profiterole (choux filled with custard and topped with chocolate), La Mûre (vanilla cake layered with blackberry ganache and mousse, finished with fresh raspberries), a raspberry beignet, and the strawberry tart. I've had mille-feuille many times, but this was easily the best. The pastry was perfectly crisp, and the custard was incredibly light, fresh, and packed with flavor. Nothing was too sweet, everything was beautifully balanced, and you can really taste the care in each dessert. A perfect treat for a cozy, indulgent night in.

Do you mean like a Costco sheet cake to serve a crowd? I believe you can get a large or a custom cake if you order it in advance, this isn't what they make on a daily basis.

Does anyone know why the French Workshop doesn't take pre-order for cakes? They used to a few years ago but they don't now.

Sorry, Kien. I don't know why but if you put your question in the yelp review. I'm sure the company will respond. I would hope they would.

They also have a few bubble tea and fruitade options. Prices are fair and they have several combo meals with even better prices. We tried their Combo3 B for $11, just under $12 with tax. Came with a mozzarella mix corn dog with panko breading. Half the dog was mozzarella and the other half had the hot dog. They have other breading toppings, with some being an additional $1.50. We added ketchup and mustard. Also came with two filled donuts, which we went with one Nutella and one strawberry cream cheese. You have option to put cinnamon or white sugar and we went with cinnamon sugar. All made to order and wow, sooo good! Corndog had a good crunch with each bite, good flavor. And the cheese pull, impressive! The donuts were pillowy, soft, light, and filled very well with each flavor. Not overly sweet, but just enough. Will be returning to try other menu items. For one, I think they strategically set up shops in areas far out in Queens that are not easily accessible or overrun by the masses--this can easily bring down a business' quality. We ordered a variety of things to try, including their range of char siu baos, like the pineapple bun, the snow crust, and the regular baked bun. Definitely a step up above what Mei Lai Wah is now, with the chunky cuts of meat, but way too sweet, even with the regular version. Highly suggest just sticking with the regular unless you're really curious about the pineapple or snow crust, which really just adds a layer of sugar. My mom spotted their sachima and quickly snatched one up. They sell a small selection of Southern Chinese and Hong Kong baked goods and pastries, but don't expect the variety of a Chinese bakery. Prices are a bit steep, and I don't know if it varies by location since this location is in a higher-cost area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here if I'm craving a good char siu bao - most Chinese bakeries do them well, just a matter of finding them. Most people who came in when we were there seem to buy them in boxes so either they're a hit at parties/events or some households really love them.

The tables are close enough and small enough to hear what your neighbors are saying to each other, imagine what they think of you? LOL I noticed speaker music was playing a bit louder then the last time I was there. The fact that patrons have to shout over each other while sharing speaker music doesn't help with the ambience of enjoying a delicious cake over an interesting conversation. I ordered something new this time, a delicious lava cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Why didn't I see that description on my check? Strange. I also visited their website online, and noticed a lot of Stock Ai made photos and videos. I even found the website hard to navigate as well because it wasn't loaded with actual cakes and up to date pricing. So quite honestly the online website wasn't helpful with what they had in the shop. * Perhaps a future improvement between tables might be an above head moveable divider which actually could provide some privacy.
