    Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookie
    Ashlee L.

I first tried Levain in LA but ofc I also had to try it in NYC!! This is THE NY cookie. I tried the choco chip walnut one which I think is their og cookie. These cookies are a little too sweet for me in general just because of how thick they are, but the walnuts in this one really helped balance out the sweetness so I really enjoyed this one! I understand why it's a classic and a must try! It is also humongous, so I'd def recommend sharing. I ate it over a couple days LOL. But make sure to ask for it warmed up, it tastes very good when the inside is gooey and the chocolate is runny :)

The cookie was a bit expensive, but it's worth the hype and you gotta try the original walnut chocolate chip cookie since that is what Levain Bakery is known for. The cookie was dense in both flavor and size, but I bet warming the cookie up would make it taste even better.

These cookies are unreal! The chocolate chip walnut is the real deal. Chewy, gooey, crunchy, just perfect. Easily the best cookie I've ever had.

Loved Levain cookies from our NY trip in 2023. I ordered the Signature Cookie Assortment for delivery in CA and it arrived promptly. More importantly, it was freshly baked. It included instructions on how to store and how to heat it up. It was crunchy on the outside and soft and gooey on the inside. The best!

Famous cookies worth trying Tried Levain Bakery's famous double chocolate chip cookies, and they were delicious--rich, gooey, and perfectly chocolatey. The store is bright and inviting, though the seating area is limited. The staff and people are friendly and welcoming, making the experience pleasant. A must-try for cookie lovers, even if you just take them to go.

Must stop if you're in NY. These are the only cookies I like in this country. My favorite is the classic one with chocolate chips and walnuts. Crispy outside and chewy inside. The last time, I tried their chocolate peppermint cookie. Yumm! I usually eat 1/3 and save it for later. These are on the expensive side but soooo worth it.

Saw this on social media and had to try it. Came on a Thursday evening for my bday treat wish and it was crowded with a long line out the door. Easy to get here by train. They had a good enough selection and can see someone in the kitchen making cookies. It's a nice store and had some merch to purchase. Gosh, so glad we made it to try these delicious cookies while in NY! I loved them all. I forgot to take pics of everything as everyone ate them right away but they were fat cookies and moist with lots of chocolate and ingredients. The Muffin was a small size I am used to seeing this. Blueberry muffin Two Chocolate Chip Caramel Coconut Chocolate Chip Double Chocolate Chip (My favorite!!!) Prices are a little expensive but so worth it. This is a must try while in NY Manhattan. Love love love the white chocolate macadamia!!! Made sure I ate only half the first day to really enjoy the cookie, plus it's a heavy cookie. Dense and heavy like a scone, and tons of chips inside. The two chip chocolate chip was just okay, a little too much chocolate for me. It was missing something, like sweetness or bit more sugar. Service was quick and fast! The place was extremely busy and packed inside for a Friday at 1:30pm.

Levain is one of the few chains I unwaveringly adore, but the UES location was not up to brand standards nationally and certainly not up to brand standards even with the other nearby locations in NoHo, Flatiron, and the UWS. The positive: it is across the street from a 7 Eleven so it was easy to procure a morning slurpee after a walk up here from around Grand Central before crossing the street for a morning cookie. Levains around the country open at 7:00am, which makes this is a breakfast place, fight me. That early in the morning the store was clean, brightly lit, and I liked the feng shui of the store's footprint which is sizable compared to the tiny NoHo location (which spits out objectively the best cooks [short for cookies if you are new here] in the Manhattan stores). This reminded me most of the Flatiron shoppe's footprint, just with significantly less people than in Flatiron at the same time, and more of a suburban wine mom in the Hamptons aesthetic than the Flatiron's debonaire 40 something year old man with a sordid past aesthetic. Maybe I am just projecting after Glengarry Glen Ross at The Palace. Since the store was not very busy (no line when I walked in) I expected the average-for-Levain warm welcome into the store. Did not receive it. Ordered and paid. Definitely made to feel like a burden on the cashier for daring to order a two chip. This "experience" felt more like a crumbl than Levain, and that is likely the meanest thing I have written on yelp in at least five years. Despite this being in the morning when, nationally, at the other locations you know the breakfast cookies are going to be fresh out of the oven and warm with that gooey two chip making an unholy mess everywhere all over you and your morning slurpee, the cookie I was handed was rock hard, cold, and devastatingly disappointing. I got the cookie that someone was saving for the red headed stepchild. I got the cookie that someone was saving for the bad grades, go cut me a switch person in their life. The two chip was obviously not fresh. I order these things across the country and what you get in the gat dang mail days after they are baked is fresher than what I got in the UES store. It was hard enough it would double as a truncheon if any nefarious rapscallion or tortfeasor would have even thought of accosting me on my way back into Midtown, I could have simply whipped the cookie at their head like a Randy Johnson special and disabled three generations of criminals above them and three generations of criminal below them. The two chip was that hard it could create a Deep Space Nine tier temporal paradox. Needless to say this was the cleanest two chip I have ever experienced since there was no gooey chocolate as it was an old cookie and not warm in the least. This two chip was stowed near someone's cold dark heart. I usually need several napkins nearby as I am a sloppy bear like Bob Belcher when all the gooey chocolate comes out to play. But not for this one. In many ways the UES is bizarro world. The BonBon shoppe in UES is far worse than the other one in SoHo. Too, the 7 Eleven across Third did not have the gentlesir's preferred breakfast slurpee flavours (anything blue) like you can obtain just a few blocks down yonder. There was better availability for fellow Ashkenazim on bumble in this area than Midtown, but given the failure rate of long distance relationships that is hardly a selling point for what was my least favourite Levain experience nationally, including mail order Levain. I may be behind in writing some of the yelp reviews but this made my final visit to all Manhattan, LA, and Chicago locations of Levain so I have collected them all like infinity stones. Obviously River North is their best location, bar down. Only a few months left until the majestic #98 is back on the ice and there are two reasons to be back in Chicago for a beautiful cookie and a new season of Blackhawks games. A single bad experience at UES is not going to scare me off from my favourite sweets company in the US and A. I will stick to the Flatiron when I am near my office, and NoHo when I need to briskly sashay back into the only lulu on the island that seems to stock my size when I need to replace a metal vent tech only lightly soiled by $14 tiramisu helmet at Yankee Stadium during the summer months.

CHUNKY buttery chocolate cookie. It's so thick that it almost felt like a scone, could even be your breakfast! The inside is softer and the outside surface has some crunch. Chocolate and walnut is pretty evenly distributed. Also held up well after a day of sitting out

If you think a cookie is a cookie, you haven't been here yet. It's a small space, but the line moves so quickly. I loved seeing them make the cookies behind the counter! I had a chocolate chip walnut cookie, the most popular one. I love a chocolate chip cookie with nuts and this one knocked it out of the park. It was still warm! Beware - the cookies are huge but once you start you won't be able to put it down!

    Jessamyn D.

Love how warm and gooey these cookies are, we enjoyed the original chocolate chip with walnut, two chip chocolate chip and white chocolate macadamia! Service is quick and staff is friendly/welcoming!

Levain will always be a go-to of mine for a reliable cookie when I'm feeling something a little sweet after a meal. We got a box of a few pastries to have throughout the week - Blueberry Muffins and Dark Choc Chip Cookies, a classic. We also got the Lemon Loaf for the first time and it was a bit sweeter than I liked, but it was moist and the lemon taste was apparent, YUM! Friendly staff and there are a couple of bar seats. Great neighborhood pick-me-up!

There was no place to sit down because of how busy it was but the staff kept the line moving quick enough. The place still seemed reasonably stocked with their desserts and treats, despite the late afternoon time that I arrived. I ordered 4 different treats to go and they're packed in small box individually. Unfortunately, they didn't quite stay intact during my trek back to my hotel and were tumbled around in the boxes. Nonetheless, the taste and flavors held up well and even after a few days in the fridge. The yuzu daisy has this vivid pastel yellow-pink base and adorable gelatinous yellow gem atop a white flower. The yuzu gives a subtle infusion of tart that is balanced out by the light delicate skin texture of the rest. Sitting atop a thin round rice crispy. I loved the red mushroom one which is a creamy pink mousse inside the cap. The stalk is a thin porcelain-white chocolate light base also filled with a rich cream. Adjacent are two cute little tree nuts. The orange and mango have such vivid colors and are aesthetically pleasing too. Just like the previous ones, their delicate chocolate exterior houses a rich tarty mousse-y filling. I think the mushroom has a better balance and variety of flavors. Although I don't eat mousse treats often, I look forward to trying some of the other ones in the future, like the blueberry, banana and cloud.

Today I decided to make a special trip to go here to grab a few goodies. I forgot how small the place was and how low the ceilings were. That wasn't an issue though. The place was nice and cakes were stacked neatly. What was surprising to me is that they don't have any cookies laid in the front display. It's all placed in the back almost hidden. I was deeply disappointed with their cookie selection. It was deeply surprising that they don't sell the butter cookies that had jam in the middle and dipped with chocolate on one side with sprinkles. I did ask the clerk and even showed him a pic of what I was looking for and he said they never sold them. They only had the linzer cookies and they didn't look so good. They also did not have the lobster tail. They did have the sfogliatelle which they also called a lobster tail. I thought they were not the same? Some bakeries sell both and they are definitely not the same. I did end up buying one of their sfogliatelle with cream and some rugelachs. The sfogliatelle was good but the rugelachs tasted slightly underbaked. It did taste fresh though unlike many I've had in other bakeries. However, for $28 per pound, I wouldn't get it again. For those not having lobster tail and not having the Italian cookies, I will have to give Veniero's a low rating. I never thought an Italian bakery would not carry staples. Very disappointed. I need to find another Italian bakery now.
