Came in during busy lunch hour. There was a bit of a wait in line as customers lunch orders were delayed. There were three people working the small kitchen; Owner was there and greeted regular customers waiting a long the wall for their orders. I ordered their signature Banh mi special and a Vempanada (stuffed beef with quail egg). The wait for these two items were about 20mins. Once I got my order, realized the store only gave me half a bahn mi-whilst I paid for a large sandwich. Staff took my order back and added the other half of the purchased item and returned it back to me. The sandwich tasted good, though the Vempanada lacked flavor and felt bland. Beef did not have much seasoning and the quail egg didn't really do much to the food item as a whole. Overall, a good neighborhood spot but will avoid lunch time rush

When I tried these Vietnamese empanadas they were a game changer. loved how filling it was with the minced beef, scallions, and quail egg. The service was very nice and the ambiance can be pretty lively during lunch times but overall a great place for a cheap eat.

Delicious food you can have on the go Banh mi with lemon grass beef was delicious. The flavors were spot on. I wish I got the full sandwich, I opted for half this time. Also tried the vempanada. It has a quail egg inside with saucy minced meat. Staff were nice and professional. Service was quick. Waited only a few minutes after ordering. This is in a shared space so seating is very limited. There are a handful of chairs just for Banh Mi TBD

We went here a few weekends ago in Flushing to Bahn Mi TBD. My husband loved Bahn Mi and was excited to try a new place because more great food places are popping up. The Bahn Mi was average. Nothing too special about it, however he did make a few comments about how the Bahn Mi was not the way it is usually made and a different bread was used. In the picture, he ordered a Lime tea drink and the taste was not anything particularly interesting. Not planning to come back. Maybe Bahn Mi TBD will be worth the spot for other individuals. All payment is accepted, parking should be elsewhere to avoid the traffic on main street.

Wanted to try this shop for a bit , finally got a chance to a few days ago. Ordered the grilled chicken , I would say there isn't much to say much about it as it's very bland. I got the combo which was about $15 , came with the spring rolls and got small ice coffee with it. Overall price I would say isn't that bad but I wouldn't recommend picking the grilled chicken.

The vempanada aka Vietnamese empanada was really good and really unique. It was filled with pork, Japanese yam, an egg, and garlic and onions. It was super garlicky, which I love as a garlic lover. The crust was also really crispy, and the pork was also juicy so overall really tasty. It was five dollars for this though which is a little expensive because it's pretty small.

Grilled Chicken Bánh Mì: $10.56; $11.50 with tax. Take-out. Meh.

BLUF: Our new favorite Vietnamese sandwich shop in Downtown Flushing Bánh Mì TBD comes to Downtown Flushing from Queens Night Market. TBD, which are the founder's initials, are also the Vietnamese initials for the Pacific Ocean, Thái Bình Dương. The sandwiches here are larger and a better value than from nearby competitor Joju. Items we've had include: - Lemongrass Beef, Full Sandwich: $13.99 with tax and cash discount. This is our favorite sandwich from Bánh Mì TBD. The sandwich uses beef cutlets, compared with the strips of meat in the other sandwiches. The beef seems to be flavored with a five-spice blend in addition to lemongrass. That combined with a layer of pâté and daikon and carrot slaw makes for a tasty bite. - Grilled Pork, Half Sandwich: $6.70; $7.00 with tax and cash discount. OK, uses strips of pork belly so there are chunks of fat in the sandwich. A similar five-spice / lemongrass flavor profile is used, but the flavor profile seems better in the beef sandwich than the pork sandwich. - Grilled Chicken, Full Sandwich: $11 for full sandwich; $11.50 with tax and cash discount. Good; much better than before, with thicker and more flavorful strips of chicken meat. Try this sandwich again if you found earlier versions forgettable. - Bún bò Huế: $14.33; $14.98 with tax and cash discount. A hidden gem. Get this. Available seasonally on Saturdays, and on Sundays if not sold out on Saturdays. One of the more flavorful versions that we've had. - Vempanada: $3.82; $4.16 with tax. OK. A Vietnamese-style empanada, with a quail egg inside. - Rau Câu (Coconut Jelly): $5.74; $6 with tax and cash discount. OK. We've had the Pandan and Coffee versions. The Coffee version might keep some people up at night. The sandwiches could generally use more daikon and carrot slaw, which is available upon request. Bánh Mì TBD is geared for take-out; the limited space inside Foodie Town Flushing Food Court makes it a tight squeeze for sit-down dining, although the restaurant has a couple of small tables and stools available.

A newish place to get Vietnamese sandwiches. Located in the tiny food court, where Chinatown Ice Cream Factory used to be. Banh Mi TBD, takes up the first stall, right in the front window, which used to be a bubble tea place. Onto the food! Tried the chicken sandwich. Their homemade pate is super good! The chicken is shredded and covered in sauce. Personally, I'd prefer chicken chunks. Shredded tends to be rather salty. Could used more carrot radish slaw. Other places really pack it in there. Otherwise, taste is good overall. What really makes the sandwich is the homemade pate. I want more of it! If you need more carrot slaw, you could ask for more. Their recommended sandwich is the pork chop. Haven't tried it yet. They also sell homemade empanadas. They seem pretty small. There is only one flavor: sweet potato, beef and cheese or without cheese. This flavor profile didn't interest me, so haven't tried it. They also have fried bananas, spring rolls and Vietnamese coffee. Haven't tried any. Seating. All the way, down at the end of the hallway, is some communal seating. Service. Great! This place started out at the Queens Night Market.

move over Joju, there's a new banh mi spot in town. stopped in on a sunday afternoon to get the special (cold cuts and pate) banh mi, in full size. i opted for the not spicy version. all the fillings were doing what they were supposed to do: savory, crunchy, sweet, sour, etc. loved the fresh snap of the cucumber and pickled daikon and carrots. i scarfed the whole sandwich down in no time. they also have drinks and apps. the service was friendly (a rarity in flushing) and i will return for sure!

Like a 3.5 Tried them out at the flushing BID fair Had 3 for $5 spring rolls and $4 chicken viet empanada Spring rolls were a good size. Slightly bigger than your average ones at nha trang/pho best/pho bang etc. Flavor was alright probably like a 7.5. The chicken empanada didn't taste that great and was small for the price point. I would skip this and get spring rolls. I'd try the sandwiches next time.

I've found my banh mi heaven at Bánh Mì T.B.D . Look no further, this place is IT. Let's start with the star: the Crispy Pork Banh Mi . I'm officially obsessed. The magic is in the texture: the crackling crispiness of the pork skin against the juicy, flavorful meat is perfection. The baguette is toasted to a crispy exterior without being tough or doughy. The pickled daikon and carrots are generous but balanced never overwhelming. I add fresh jalapeño for a kick and it sends it over the top. This isn't just any sandwich. Having been to Saigon, I know authentic banh mi, and this is the real deal. The fact that it's Viet-owned speaks for itself. Pro Tips: Finding it: It's a bit tucked away, but worth the hunt. Take the LIRR to Main Street Flushing, it's on the Manhattan side of the tracks, on 40th Road (across the street from the basketball court). Must-Try Drink: GET THE VIET COFFEE. It's strong, sweetened with condensed milk and has a serious coffee punch. Yes, it costs a bit more than the bakery coffee on Main Street, but they do not skimp. You pay for QUALITY. Next Time: I'm a creature of habit with the pork belly, but they have other variety of banh Mi and little fried bites I can't wait to try. I will be back to work my way through the menu. I would stop by every single day if I could. Do yourself a favor and go. You should too.

This place feels like a hidden gem you almost want to keep secret... but it's just too good not to share. What makes Pho Metro stand out right away is how authentic it feels. You can tell this is truly a labor of love. One guy runs the show and somehow manages to do it all, from cooking to serving, and the care he puts into the food absolutely shows in every single bite. It has that comforting, homemade quality that makes you feel like you've stepped into a small family kitchen rather than just another restaurant. The food itself is outstanding. Everything tastes incredibly fresh, from the herbs to the broth. I highly recommend the thin noodles with the spicy lemongrass broth (you can request this if it's not listed). It's bursting with flavor, slightly tangy, perfectly spicy, and deeply savory in a way that warms you from the inside out. Every spoonful feels like a cozy blanket on a cold day. The summer rolls are another must-order. They're fresh, light, and packed with flavor, and the peanut sauce that comes with them is absolutely delicious. It's rich, savory, and addictive enough that you'll find yourself scraping the cup to get every last drop. Another detail I really appreciated is how everything you need is right at your fingertips. All the sauces are readily available at the table, so you can customize your bowl exactly how you like it without having to ask or wait. It makes the whole experience feel easy, comfortable, and welcoming. And don't skip the Thai iced tea. It's perfectly sweet, creamy, and refreshing, especially alongside the bold flavors of the pho. It's the kind of drink that makes you slow down and enjoy the moment. Overall, this place delivers on flavor, authenticity, and heart. It's rare to find a spot where you can truly taste the effort and pride in every dish, but Pho Metro does exactly that. I will absolutely be returning again and again. If you're in the area, make the stop. You won't be disappointed.

The portions are generous enough that a single sandwich can genuinely feel like more than one meal's worth of food. The banh mi is the main reason to come, and the pork versions are where the kitchen shines most. We ordered the caramel pork, which is worth it. The meat is cut down into small pieces that pick up flavor throughout and create a layered bite alongside the pickled vegetables. The tofu banh mi holds up well as a vegetarian option and carries a gingery, carrot forward flavor that works. The bread leans toward a softer, thicker cut rather than the thin, crackling crust of a more traditional Vietnamese version, but it still holds the fillings well without getting soggy. Service is fast and the overall experience is quick. The staff moves efficiently and our order came out in good time, which makes it a reliable option for a workday lunch when you do not have much time to spare. The banh mi travels well if you are taking it to go, and the packaging keeps everything intact. It is a good spot for a filling, well priced lunch that does not require much planning beyond showing up. We would come back for the caramel pork banh mi and appreciate that we can be in and out without sacrificing quality or portion size. For a quick, satisfying Vietnamese sandwich in the area, JoJu delivers exactly what it promises.
