I absolutely love this place so much!! I came for a quick dinner bite with my friend and the dishes were mouthwatering. It was my first time trying authentic Vietnamese sandwiches and they were delicious. We got the Beef Bulgogi and Lemongrass Chicken (Beef Bulgogi was my fav) but both were so rich. Of course we had to get their Kimchi Fries which are what dreams are actually made of. Service was great. Chose a close by spot for delivery. This one had high ratings so I gave it a shot. I go the joju monster banh mi. Bread was crispy with a nice chew. But there was way way too much carrot and daikon. But overall good banh mi. The crunchy monster spring roll was very crispy but not lots of filling, mostly the spring roll wrapper. The veggie rolls were crispy but it like got no seasoning and def needed sauce. I ordered the green eggs and ham banh mi and the kimchi fries. I really enjoyed my sandwich, it was flavorful and well balanced and just a little spicy. The bread was high quality. The fries were pretty good also. The big scoop of kimichi on top is cold, which makes the whole thing cold very fast, but the fries are fried up extra extra crispy in order to compensate. It came with way too many toppings, even for a banh mi, that we had to get rid of. I was super excited for the runny egg but this really added nothing to the flavoring. Maybe would have preferred the bulgogi bowl. - BBQ Pork Bowl: This could have used a bit more flavoring in the sauce. A fair amount of meat. But beyond that not much to say. - Crunch Monster Spring Rolls: This was somehow our favorite of the night. It was an interesting spring roll and we could've had many orders of this. My sisters devoured it and gave it a solid 4.5 stars for its juicy goodness. I didn't get a bite, but I'll take their word for it. * Loaded Kimchi Fries with Runny Egg ($6.98) Now, I had high hopes for these fries, but sadly, the egg wasn't runny at all. It just sat there, very much... not running. But, despite that minor letdown, the fries were still delicious. The portions were generous - way more than what I've gotten at the Tangram location - so that definitely made up for it. I'll give these fries a 4/5. Service here was quick and efficient. Growing up in the area, I've always loved coming to Joju! During this visit, I got the Strawberry Lychee Green Tea Infusion and the Joju Fries. I came in on a Monday afternoon, so the restaurant was pretty empty, but I was pleasantly surprised to see how many people were coming in and out to pick up orders. The service was also incredibly fast and attentive. One of the servers noticed she gave me the wrong straw so she came over and kindly gave me the right one. Coming back here brings back highschool memories of when my friends and I would run here after school. I'm so glad to see that they're doing well, and the food is still oh so good. I'm still a big fan of JoJu and try to get there every few months. Within the past year, they did a little updating making the seating more sleek and modern. They even have a rewards points system now. Just like everywhere, prices have increased, but the quality is still there. My favorites continue to be the Beef Bulgogi, BBQ Pork and the Hot Chick. I asked my Elmhurst local friend what his top recommendations for delicious eats in the area, and Joju was his first. That was a good sign, and I'm glad Joju lived up to its reputation. I didn't realise it was a chain until I entered the name into Google Maps and realised that there were a few other branches in Flushing and Chinatown -- another good sign. If it's an Asian franchise that can survive in busy Chinese populations, then it's probably stellar. I came on an unassuming Saturday evening about 15 minutes before closing, past dusk. They had already started cleaning and sweeping, but the staff were still friendly and the sandwich was still speedily made. Their bathroom in the back was also pretty clean after my long bike ride out. There were a lot of options that seemed good, and their advertised "Modern Vietnamese Banh Mi" was true to its name. At a fair price, I decided to go for the Bulgogi sandwich and had no regrets while I was waiting on the train platform for the long ride home. The bulgogi banh mi was a combination I never knew I needed, and I feel cheated that 32 years of my life were devoid of this treat. I love bulgogi so much, I would have it in anything (ex. I had to try the bulgogi burger in Seoul when I visited years back). What would you not like? Thin fatty slices of beef marinaded in that delicious sweet soy wedged between a toasted french bun with pickled veggies and cilantro to balance it out. A perfect marriage of two classics. Ever since Joju came out with their Joju bowls, I've been obsessed with them. If I could eat them everyday, I would be in foodie bliss. That's how much I love them. The crunchy monster spring rolls are so crunchy and yummy, we usually get a large order which comes with 4 spring rolls. My mouth waters even thinking about them, the spring rolls usually disappear first. The soy-garlic glaze chicken wings come 4 in a box and are best devoured still hot. However, I'm glad to say they are still crunchy even after they've cooled down. I love the delicious soy-garlic glaze on it, your tastebuds will crave it even after you've finished the wings. As for the classic sandwich, it definitely lives up to its name every time I eat it. From the runny egg to the shredded carrot to the pâté, my taste buds thank me while I enjoy the nostalgic memories brought back by this classic. It will always be one of my favorites. Last but not least, the beef bulgogi bowl is like comfort food to my soul. A small place in the heart of Elmhurst. This place was highly recommended and they weren't wrong. The sandwiches are delicious. I had the number 20 loaded lemon grass chicken. It's probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. It's the size of a foot long sandwich. I had to eat it in 2 sittings. Restaurant is very small. The Joju Banh mi fries are fire. House sauce is made with pork so if you're vegetarian or a halal eater, make sure to ask for it sans that. Kimchi fries also good but Joju fries are the BEST of the best. They are both generally very similar because they both have green onions but otherwise the bánh mì ones have green sauce lol. The happy hour deal is great. The mini fries are maybe half the size of a full order of regular fries so definitely a good deal. I can't believe I've never reviewed JoJu even though it's one of my favorite places in the area and I've been coming here for years! Whatever associations you might have with the phrase "Asian fusion," you can set aside before you come here. I think the owners are Korean and Vietnamese, and this is essentially reflected in the awesome flavor combos you'll find in JoJu's offerings. You can't go wrong with most orders here, except if you order plain fries instead of the out of this world JoJu fries (or kimchi fries). The JoJu fries are kind of like disco fries made Asian and topped with their house pickles and spicy mayo, and if JoJu were open late, this is exactly what you'd want to be eating at the end of a long night out--conversely, they're also perfect for the morning after a long night out. The banh mi and bowls here are a great value and really well balanced in flavor and composition. If you're looking for a really classic traditional banh mi, you'll probably find JoJu's a little ~extra~, but I like the unique offerings that they have here that really level up the flavor. I'd highly recommend paying 50¢ to put on some extra pate spread, and if you're feeling really indulgent, getting a runny fried egg on top. The banh mi come with a generous helping of pickled carrots and daikon, along with cucumber and cilantro (and if you don't like those things, then honestly you probably don't like banh mi and this isn't the sandwich for you), and a selection of hot sauces (I like the green bomb, which is kind of like an aji verde). The specialty sandwiches are, to me, the stars of the menu, like the JoJu, which is a traditional pork-based banh mi that also has their special BBQ pork. Though Elmhurst is rich with bubble tea shops, I do like the specialty beverages here a lot, like the fruity slushes and the refreshing mojitos (non-alcoholic, but adding your own rum is a pro tip I'm highly recommending here). Seating inside is limited these days and it's usually pretty busy, but service is always fast and friendly. My ONE qualm is that they don't offer summer rolls at the Elmhurst location and that's something I've been wanting them to do for YEARS! Been driving by this place for years and never thought of going in. Came with a friend one day and was pretty much a hole in the wall. Got a Thai ice tea, wings and a Banh Mi Sandwich. The Thai ice was pretty good. Not super sweet and had good flavor. The wings were very good, nice and juicy and flavorful. My wife liked the sandwich a lot. It was full of flavor and also this was something I brought home for her. It wasn't soggy and the bread was nice and fresh. I'm pretty much a regular here. Loved Jojus since they've opened and it's my forever go to place for viet sandwiches. I always get the lemongrass chicken banh mi, loaded joju banh mi fries, and an iced Vietnamese coffee. They used to have this drink called Chrysanthemum pu erh and I absolutely LOVED IT but unfortunately, it is no longer in the menu :'( (Please bring it back!!!) The chicken in the lemongrass chicken banh mi is so tender and juicy that I struggle to not inhale it in one bite. It does get a little overwhelming with the thinly sliced carrots and radish cause there's a good amount in the sandwich. The bread itself is also perfectly crunchy and toasted. Fries are great when they are fresh and not when you get take out because it can get a little soggy from the time you pick it up to the time you get home. Still, the taste is mouthwatering delicious. I have noticed that over the years, the toppings of the carrots, radish, cilantro, and the sauce have been a little too much in proportion to the fries. I usually don't often get the runny egg on top but it's even more delicious with it! I have sat in and ate here before pandemic happened and it's a relatively small space. Tables and seats can be a little messy/oily with crumbs and remains from the previous people who sat there. I have been here during pandemic and there was a period of time when there was no indoor seating and only pick ups and staff all wore masks.
