#13. Green Eggs and Ham Sandwich
Ingrid H.

I ordered the green eggs and ham banh mi and the kimchi fries. I really enjoyed my sandwich, it was flavorful and well balanced and just a little spicy. The bread was high quality. The fries were pretty good also. The big scoop of kimichi on top is cold, which makes the whole thing cold very fast, but the fries are fried up extra extra crispy in order to compensate. I was impressed that they were able to maintain a crunch despite all the wet, cold toppings. Great spot for a quick lunch. You order on a touch screen and the restaurant is clean.

I use to order here all the time but have not stop by in a while. During my latest visit, I ordered the Caramelized pork sandwich. The sandwich was fresh and delicious. I know they have bowls but never had a chance to try them so will try the next time. It also been a while because they no longer stamp my card for visits but track via phone number.

Great place for quick, delicious and nutritious food! My favorite is the Ginger Seiten. My family loves the banh mi with beef bulgogi. The Vietnamese coffee can wake you from your sleep. The lychee chillers are refreshingly and restorative good! Great service. Clean seating area. You can order from a person or tablet/kiosk. I've been here about 10 times and will continue to return! The green sauce is amazing!

Keepin it real in Elmhurst I want to root for this place so bad cause they had the best banh mi for me growing up, and the fries, everything hit. Lately just not the same after franchising. I didn't believe it at first, but after trying it twice in recent times, it's just not the same anymore. The boba is powdery and not great..... I would try it again, really want to like this place.....

Simple menu but they execute each dish well! This place is a casual Vietnamese restaurant where you can pick and choose your protein of choice and whether you want it in a rice bowl, vermicelli, or as a banh mi. The sides are your typical pickled daikon/carrots, lettuce, and cucumber. You do have the option to add egg for extra $$. The banh mi here is not to be missed. I like how they automatically cut it in half and in two separate bags. You can easily make that two meals if you don't eat a lot.

Food: The banh mi here are very tasty and fresh. We ordered the classic and the caramelized pork. Both were very flavorful and delicious. I would order both of them again. The sandwiches are packed with meat and pickled carrots and radish. The bread is also very fresh and soft. Overall, these were excellent sandwiches and great quality. The spring rolls are also very good and I would highly recommend them. The menu also includes bowls, fries, appetizers, and various types of drinks. Service: Staff were friendly and nice. This is a very casual spot where you order your food and find a table to eat at so there isn't much service. Ambiance: The place is small, but has a good number of tables that you can eat at after ordering and paying for your food. There are about five small tables in the place. Overall, I would highly recommend this spot!

Vietnamese sandwiches must add a runny egg. Monster Spring roll , get as many sauces. Do you want to dip with. and the beef bulgogi sandwich. They were all very good. I would've given them a Fourstar Unfortunately the person takes. the order is very rude.

I've been to the JoJu at Tangram before, but somehow, I've never made it to their Elmhurst spot - despite the fact that I live closer to this location! How did I miss this gem after all these years? This Elmhurst location is their main one (I think?), and it has more options, which is always a win. I tried the Monster JoJu and their loaded kimchi fries with a runny egg. * Monster JoJu ($9.49) This banh mi lived up to its name - it was huge! My sisters devoured it and gave it a solid 4.5 stars for its juicy goodness. I didn't get a bite, but I'll take their word for it. * Loaded Kimchi Fries with Runny Egg ($6.98) Now, I had high hopes for these fries, but sadly, the egg wasn't runny at all. It just sat there, very much... not running. But, despite that minor letdown, the fries were still delicious. The portions were generous - way more than what I've gotten at the Tangram location - so that definitely made up for it. I'll give these fries a 4/5. Service here was quick and efficient. While there wasn't anyone dining in, there were people coming in for takeout, which kept the place bustling. Overall, I'd give this spot a 4/5, and I'm sure I'll be back.

This place is still very popular and has a great variety of banh mi sandwiches and bowls. They also have a great variety of drinks to try out, alcohol drinks included. One thing to note is that the Yelp check in of a free fried egg on your sandwich is no longer valid. Definitely am noticing a little bit that the ingredients in their bowls has reduced a bit since the last time I had ordered about a year ago. Staff is super nice and patient.

Craving some banh mi, we dropped by Joju for some take out banh mi. We ordered ahead of time which made pick up a breeze. Our group loved the fact that they had a vegan option on their menu which was really good. The caramel pork banh mi was delicious. Their fries were super fresh and crispy. I'll be definitely back to try some of the other options, but a great modern banh mi shop!

Service wasn't super quick during my visit unfortunately, but it should've been quick if it wasn't for the lady in line in front of me. Ordered the Joju Monster. The banh mi itself was good! I was surprised to see how loaded it was with meat and veggies. It was a little too much shredded carrots for me, but I liked how thinly shredded they were. The bread felt a little more dense than what I prefer - not as fluffy, but it probably held the ingredients in better. Ordered the fried egg runny, and boy, was it runny. The whites were nice and soft and my fiance and I enjoyed the banh mi overall.

These fries hit different. It got a bit of cheese drizzle with shredded radish and carrots, topped with cilantro and a bit of jalapeño. It's pretty filling but a great snack.

Strawberry Lychee Green Tea Infusion

Growing up in the area, I've always loved coming to Joju! During this visit, I got the Strawberry Lychee Green Tea Infusion and the Joju Fries. I came in on a Monday afternoon, so the restaurant was pretty empty, but I was pleasantly surprised to see how many people were coming in and out to pick up orders. The service was also incredibly fast and attentive. One of the servers noticed she gave me the wrong straw so she came over and kindly gave me the right one. The Strawberry Lychee Green Tea Infusion was incredibly refreshing and not overly sweet. It was perfect for beating the sweltering summer heat. The fries are always perfectly crispy yet soft inside. Over the years, I've found that the banh mis aren't for me because of how sweet the carrots are, but with the Joju Fries, the savoriness of the spicy mayo and kick of the jalapeños make it so that the carrots add the perfect balance to the meal. The added runny egg just helps tie all the flavors together! Always a go-to and a top recommendation for anyone who comes into the area.

It's a rare treat (they only have it once in a blue moon), but when they do, it takes the bowl to another level. Beyond the pho, the crispy spring rolls are a must-try. The crackly, golden exterior with the savory meat inside makes for an addictive combo. Their grilled pork over rice is another standout--tender, flavorful, and satisfying. Overall, Pho Best is a reliable go-to for comfort food, big portions, and some memorable specialties when you're lucky enough to catch them. Highly recommended.

Someone will bring the food to your table if you're eating there. They do have ac, so that's good if you're trying to escape the heat. My friend and I ate inside and got the summer rolls, which wasn't tightly wrapped, and it was so hard to eat. It came apart right away, which I've never seen happen before. I don't suggest getting it at all. It was too messy to eat, and the ingredients were mainly noodles. I got the taro tea as that doesn't have caffeine inside of it. For my main meal, I got the hot pot noodle soup with a medium spice level with been tendon and fatty beef. The bad part about it was that my stomach hurt after an hour or so. It's not in Manhattan, but I'm telling you -- it's worth the trip. It's located right next to Little Thailand and easy to find with Google Maps. One downside is that the space is very small. They only have four small tables for two and one larger table for 3-4 people, so it might be difficult for bigger groups unless you make a reservation. We arrived right after they opened, and not long after, the whole place was packed. Besides the size, the restaurant is really pretty and cozy. The menu is interesting and offers a wide variety of dishes -- fried, stir-fried, grilled, soups, and more. Here's what we ordered: Crab Fried Rice - We ordered it without much thought, just to try it, and it ended up being one of the best Thai dishes we've ever had. Even my husband (who is Laos/Thai) loved it. He rarely gets to eat crab because his mom has a severe allergy, so this was special for him too. (We forgot take picture lol) Crispy Pork Belly - Served super hot and crispy. I love that they battered it instead of just deep-frying it plain. It had great texture and was so flavorful. Tum Thai (Thum Mak Hoong) - We ordered it very spicy and asked if they could make it Laos-style. They tried, and it was pretty good. It was slightly lacking the strong fermented fish sauce (padek) punch that gives it that bold, pungent flavor. But honestly, it's still very close to Northern style -- just more approachable and less intense, so more people can enjoy it. Sticky Rice - Served the traditional way in a bamboo basket (aep khao) with a lid, which keeps it piping hot. I love when restaurants keep it authentic like that. We wanted to order more because there were so many options, but just three dishes were already enough for us -- we even had leftovers. They packed everything very securely; I carried the papaya salad around all day and it didn't spill at all. It is pretty pricey, but honestly, it's worth trying at least once for the quality and authenticity. We'll definitely bring his parents here next time we're back in NYC.

This place feels like a hidden gem you almost want to keep secret... but it's just too good not to share. What makes Pho Metro stand out right away is how authentic it feels. You can tell this is truly a labor of love. One guy runs the show and somehow manages to do it all, from cooking to serving, and the care he puts into the food absolutely shows in every single bite. It has that comforting, homemade quality that makes you feel like you've stepped into a small family kitchen rather than just another restaurant. The food itself is outstanding. Everything tastes incredibly fresh, from the herbs to the broth. I highly recommend the thin noodles with the spicy lemongrass broth (you can request this if it's not listed). It's bursting with flavor, slightly tangy, perfectly spicy, and deeply savory in a way that warms you from the inside out. Every spoonful feels like a cozy blanket on a cold day. The summer rolls are another must-order. They're fresh, light, and packed with flavor, and the peanut sauce that comes with them is absolutely delicious. It's rich, savory, and addictive enough that you'll find yourself scraping the cup to get every last drop. Another detail I really appreciated is how everything you need is right at your fingertips. All the sauces are readily available at the table, so you can customize your bowl exactly how you like it without having to ask or wait. It makes the whole experience feel easy, comfortable, and welcoming. And don't skip the Thai iced tea. It's perfectly sweet, creamy, and refreshing, especially alongside the bold flavors of the pho. It's the kind of drink that makes you slow down and enjoy the moment. Overall, this place delivers on flavor, authenticity, and heart. It's rare to find a spot where you can truly taste the effort and pride in every dish, but Pho Metro does exactly that. I will absolutely be returning again and again.
