LEMONGRASS CHICKEN BANH MI -My go to, always tender chicken with very very mild heat. Their sandwiches are always stuffed well w/ meat and veggies. I've had their pork and bulgolgi sandwiches and they're nice and flavorful; sometimes with banh mi you can't taste the meat but not the case here. I go for chicken most often because it happens to be my favorite meat. Also if you want it to be more filling highly recommend adding a fried egg to the sandwiches. MONSTER ROLLS - giant lumpia, essentially. Stuffed with pork and such a satisfying crunch. You can't really mess it up. I could eat 20 of these. KIMCHI/JOJU FRIES - Still hungry? Get these stacked fries with generous toppings. The joju fries are a bit carrot/radish forward so I prefer the kimchi fries which have a nice spicy mayo and mild heat to them. The fries are crisped nicely and tender. Make sure to eat sooner than later as the kimchi fries can get soggy. DRINKS Joju Chillers Mojitos Viet Iced Coffee - hits the spot and exactly what you want it to be - Nonalcoholic drinks that you can add boba too; I love getting drinks here because they're unique and not found in typical boba shops. The mojitos esepecially, with fresh mint, club soda and flavors of your choice as well as the chillers, which are half iced tea and half slush really provide a refreshing accompaniment to your meal, esp when it's hot out. read more

Dropped by on a friend's recommendation to try their bulgogi banh mi which was excellent. Beef was cooked perfectly with sweet caramelized onions topped with s nice heap of pickled shredded carrots and daikon that cut through the sandwich. The bread was nicely toasted on top and soaked in the juices of the meat on the inside. Their banh mi fries were crispy but the strange sweet dipping sauce felt out of place. I have been frequenting this place for years. In time past, Joju was basically the antecedent of the foodie scene in the area, they brought reason for people to visit Elmhurst. They're a fast casual restaurant in a cozy setting, and service here is passable. The beef bulgogi banh mi (4.5/5) was an absolute delight. The beef was packed with flavor from the marinade, and it paired perfectly with fresh herbs, pickled vegetables, and a hint of spicy mayo. The lemongrass chicken banh mi (4/5) had a tantalizing aroma from the lemongrass. It was decent, but I still recommend opting for a richer protein like pork or beef. We were in the area making errands so we decided to get a sandwich- we ordered the Bulgogi with egg and it came with kimchi. Since we ordered via phone, we didnt have to wait for our orders so that was nice. The sandwich itself came out to close to $12 which was okay considering the amount of things stuffed in the sandwich! We did ask for a runny egg and that was not what we got. Our egg was fried and cooked 100%. But aside from that, the meat was nicely flavored and it was really good! Wowww I never knew what an amazing sandwich would taste like until I tried JoJu's Banh Mi. We ordered the Beef Bulgogi Banh Mi with double meat sans the pickled daikon. My hunny added a egg to his and I asked for mine to omit the carrots. Next time I'm not going to skip on it. He said the egg made his Banh Mi ten times better. Our banh mi was absolutely bursting with incredible flavors. The marinade they used was phenomenal. The little bit of oil dripping on our hands was a welcome surprise as we took a bite. I've been going to Joju's for years! Their banh mi's are to die for... but they need to change their hours on Google since this location doesn't seem to follow them anymore. The closing hour is 8PM according to Goggle. This is now the third time I've gone at around 7PM and the gates are down. My original JoJu review from 2014 got moved to JoJu Bowl, lol. But here's a 2020 JoJu update. :) I have been coming to JoJu for six years and this is a solid banh mi spot in Elmhurst. I pretty much tried the entire menu and my new favorites are the Classic and the Lemongrass Chicken! I always get the green bomb sauce because it's still amazing! Always add an egg! Another big plus is that they have their own online order website - makes it so easy and convenient especially if you have a big order. I am a fan! Classic sandwich has the most original ingredients in banh mi: pate, vietnamese ham, headcheese, and their house pork sauce, topped with cucumber, cilantro, and pickled carrots and radish. They really load up on that carrot and radish! I usually get this sandwich toasted but tastes just as good without toasting it too. I usually can only finish half a sandwich in one sitting and it reheats so well in the toaster oven. Lemongrass Chicken. Get the a runny egg and the green bomb sauce with this and no regrets! It's marinated chicken dark meat and I like the flavor of this sandwich. JoJu fries are totally worth getting! I personally love the plain fries best because it's so crispy and well seasoned. For more interesting choices, get the Kimchi or Banh Mi Fries - it's a huge portion and I recommend to share this with a group. Crunchy Monster Spring Rolls are really HUGE spring rolls. I love the crispy wheat skin and the filling was well proportioned with pork and vegetables. It's good when you get it as a side or add on in your JoJu Bowl, it makes a difference! For drinks, I also tried a lot of the drinks. All the banh mi sandwiches are at an affordable price! Every time I come here, it is always super crowded with long lines so you know the food is good. I tried the lemongrass chicken and the bulgogi and they were very good although the bulgogi was kind of fatty. These are very filling sandwiches and larger in size than other banh mi places I've been to. I also tried the banh mi and kimchi fries and they were delicious. I had missed couple of yelp events at this place and I can no longer handle not trying it out today since I was in the neighborhood. The experience was good. After a morning spent at Citifield, I searched for a lunch spot, which led me to Elmhurst, Queens. With so many highly rated reviews at one $ sign in cost, it was a low risk choice. You had me at bulgogi, as this sandwich, with the runny egg on it was the bomb, and not just in name only. I was the oldest customer in the place, but not to deter anyone. The marketing for the place is geared toward the youthful set, and I am young at heart. They have frequent eater promotions that keeps this place very relevant, even as this customer base will eventually age. Four thumbs up, as I am all thumbs typing this on my phone. Gone here multiple times and each time the Bánh mi tastes great. No matter what sandwich you get it's going to be good, just depends on your taste. They load up on the picked vegetables and pack it in with your choice of filling. I have tried The Classic, BBQ Pork, Beef Bulgogi and Vietnamese Caramel Pork. I think I like The Classic the best, it's well classic. For me I think the Beef bulgogi is very sweet and the Pork is a bit sweet too but grounded up. The BBQ pork come in a sausage link like form. All the fries tastes amazing, they are all extra crispy. The toppings are very generous and delicious. If you come during their happy hour time and day you can get a drink and a small side. BEWARE: the beef bulgolgi bowl and other bowls that have "cabbage salad" in it - it's NOT salad, but actually coleslaw and has a ton of Mayo in it. This was a very unpleasant surprise when I was expecting a proper salad with purple cabbage and instead got nasty coleslaw. Additionally the beef was extremely fatty. It has good flavor with the sauce but would be nice if it was more actual meat. The caramelized pork sandwich was ok, nothing to brag home about. This is more like asian fusion twist on the banh mi- don't get me wrong it is pretty good but just dont expect a traditional banh mi with pate, meat, cliantro, etc. Their banh mi has like meat, cilantro, a lot of veggies (like way too much) but the meat is different- I got the joju- It had some sort of sausage in it but also had meat you would find in a traditional banh mi. Portions are pretty large but I was able to finish one by myself- don't get greedy and get the fries, it will too much. Their sandwiches are about 10 dollars give or take. I had to take out some of the veggies when I was near the end of finishing my meal because it was just way too many shredded carrots. I also got a viet iced coffee- way too sweet. Food was absolutely delicious. We got the lemongrass chicken sandwich, hot chick sandwich and kimchi fries with added bulgogi on top. Everything was delicious, super flavorful and fresh. The service was pretty friendly. This place is super casual, great for a quick bite. Have been here multiple times and look forward to going back again soon. read more
