So much filling Roast Pork Bun
Kers Y.

Their Roast pork buns are so good! They are full of filling and it isn't red dye red. They are reasonably priced at $2.50 each so I always get multiply. I prefer the plain roast pork buns. Their HK milk coffee was delicious too. I have gone back a few times. I park a block or two away and walk over since it's right by the highway.

Seriously one of the best to go places for pineapple buns in queens I have been to. The service is very quick being that everything is ready premade but that doesn't mean that the breads are not fresh. They all come out nice and warm! I always come for the char siu pineapple buns because not only is the crust perfectly nice and crispy from the pineapple bun but the bread is also perfectly nice and soft. There is a good amount of meat in the middle that is perfectly savory which goes nicely with the sweet crust. The egg tarts were also great, like your standard bakery egg tarts. If you're looking for something sweet, the egg custard bun is also a good staple. The crispy/ soft pineapple bun exterior is still the same but it is just paired with a sweet creamy eggy interior. Definitely one of my go to places to pick up something quick and filling! (The prices are also hard to beat)

A brand new 2nd location for great roast pork buns, by Grandpa Chen! B1G1. Buy one get one free, until January 12. Best time to get some is when they come right out of the oven, piping hot. Yum! They are made throughout the day. My favorite here is the roast pork bun with pineapple crust. Made well at this location, they are a nice golden color. Not dark brown like some other locations. They now have so much more old school pastry items to choose from. Sachima, a noodle shaped pastry dessert covered in a honey sweet glaze. One of my childhood favorites. Wife cakes. These could be better if thicker and a bit more fragrant. Didn't seem to have the right mouth feel. Old school, red bean with egg yolk. Crust was a bit too hard particularly on the bottom, and filling was too sweet. Savory steamed white buns like chicken or Big bun, are located in the refrigerated section. Their newest creation is a ube bun. Haven't tried it yet. Service. Everyone was helpful and friendly. Seating. A couple of small tables and a few high stools at the counter around the window. Most people do takeout.

Grandpa Chen snuck in here unnoticed so I want to give a shout-out to Lillian for posting her review in time to make me aware of their grand opening BOGO promotion. I rarely get to take advantage of those things so it was much appreciated it. There are a couple of things at play here that makes me give Grandpa such a high rating. Their buns, especially the pineapple roast pork one are pretty sizeable with a generous amount of filling. I found the ones I had crispy outside, fluffy interior with all that juicy pork. These kept in the fridge and reheated the next day very nicely as well. I tried a piece of the pineapple cake - which is quite dense all around that it is nearly candy like in its structure, but thankfully not overly sweet. The 2nd is I am very happy they opened at this location - it is close by to me making it convenient and it joins other pretty solid choices on this couple of block on Kissena. I am happy to see their menu has expanded since they first opened out in Douglaston so they seem to be expanding to a full fledged bakery. I am looking forward to trying their other items.

Saw Lillian L's review and I've been to the first location, which I liked, so I knew I had to come here. Right by Queens College so more convenient of a location for me since I can walk here from work. There's residential parking with a few metered parking around the block. They were bustling when I went in, with shelves stocked full and fresh buns coming out the kitchen. There are some counter seating by the window and a table. They are very friendly and very helpful. I forgot my wallet coming here and I asked if I could pay with my phone, which I, thankfully, was able to. They speak Cantonese and English. Well sized buns for the price, especially with their opening special of BOGO for particular buns. I was full after 1 pineapple char siu (roast pork) bun. I opted to try the pineapple char siu bun and the regular char siu bun. The char siu is perfectly cooked and slightly sweet, matches the crisp and slightly sweet pineapple crust. They give a decent amount of char siu. I also picked up Fresh Pineapple Cakes and omg it was delicious. Don't be fooled by the seemingly small size. It's dense, as it should be! The Iced Milk Tea is nostalgically HK styled (I asked for no sugar). I do recommend at least a little sugar, if you haven't had this before. Same with the coffee, and coffee + milkt tea. I like how they don't put too much ice into the cup. I am so happy they opened a location here and hope it is here to stay!

I have been craving a pineapple pork bun for weeks and today was the day to get it. Came into the shop and was greeted by two friendly older ladies. I got one of each of the following, pineapple roast pork bun, Pork bun s d Snow crust roasted pork bun. All 3 were delicious, but i favored the pineapple roast pork bun for sure. The 1st bite into that warm, pillowy texture with the sweet and savory flavors coming through is so satisfying! I live very close and can walk here. There are a couple of tables by the window if you want to stay and eat, but it's more of a grab and go spot. I will definitely be back!

Just opened days ago. I went during their BOGO deal and took advantage of the promotion. Sadly, they got my order wrong and I only realized it after getting home. They did overcharge me for the higher priced buns, but not a big deal. As for the baked goods, they were quite good. Compared to their location in Little Neck, the bread for roast pork bun and pineapple roast pork bun were actually better. It was not over toasted or super gummy, and relatively airy. I hope they keep this consistency going forward unlike their sister store. Btw, lots of roast pork, not too fatty, but it needed just a bit more of sweetness to remind me of a traditional roast pork buns. On the other hand, the bread for the pineapple bun and pineapple bun w/ custard were very dense, not airy at all. Also, the egg tarts had a very dry crust that felt not as buttery as it should be. I really wish they can fix these problem because I'm looking for a good version of each of these pastries locally.

Egg tart

Definitely best pineapple bun & egg tart in NY. $2.75 for a pineapple as big as my hand. The bun is a little chewy which is great, crispy outside. I reheated in oven at 350F for 10 minutes the next day, it's perfect like fresh made. It's not as sweet as other pasty store too The egg tarts reminds me the childhood memories when i had it in Hong Kong. Will definitely go back to try other items. But 5 stars for both pineapple bun & egg tarts.

Roast pork bun with no roast pork inside!

First time trying this place base on good reviews, ordered 4 roast pork buns and 2 pineapple buns but when got home and the first roast pork bun had no roast pork was just a plain bun, okay tried the second one, same thing. The 3rd and 4th had roast pork, so definitely disappointing to get roast pork in only 2 of the 4 roast pork buns and I saw the lady pull from same tray for all 4 roast pork buns, that is a 50% defect rate!

Celebrating its second store opening here at Kissena, BOGO promotion up to 1/2/25. First store is at Northern Blvd. Arrived on a Sunday 1:30 pm. Parking can be a challenge in this neighborhood. Street meter parking or some residential area behind it. The store is small with two small tables and some high stools. It was crowded when I got there. They were baking nonstop due to the promotion. Bread was still fresh and warm when I got them. I especially recommend the chau yiu pineapple bun $2.95 ( regular prize). It's a good portion of roasted pork ( chau yiu ) inside. Regular Chiu yiu bun is $2.50 and pineapple bun is $2.50. Will definitely return.

Da Bao (aka big bun)
Kat J.

Hand's down the best pineapple bun in all of Flushing. The skin is crispy while the bun itself is soft and delicious. I personally loved the general Tso's chicken bun, the filling was absolutely delicious without being overpowering. Conversely the da bao (aka big bun was underwhelming). All of the pastries were delicious, including the pineapple cake.

Read so much reviews and was also recommended so had to go and try. This location is near Horace Harding Expwy/LIE, across from Queens College. Buses nearby but we drove and street parking was available - meters and residential. Small but has a couple of tables and some stools/counter seating. It was late in the day but we still got some pineapple roast pork buns (I liked the filling here better than Mei Lai Wah in the city), baked RP bun, snow crusted RP bun (a new favorite bec I like the milky crust), red bean puff with salted egg yolk (reminded me of filipino hopia mongo but liked it more with the added salted yolk), pineapple bun with egg yolk (thinner custard-like filling, would like more of it though). Was mistakenly described to us as peanut bun at the store. Good thing my husband saw the combo for $5.95 - warmed pineapple butter bun (with a slab of butter) with iced HK tea for us. Yumm.

Egg tarts, snow cap and pineapple buns both with roast pork

Tried this little gem out the other day and had to go back today for more. Had the pineapple bun and snow cap buns both with roast pork. They was both packed with meat and flavor!! Also the egg tarts, fresh, creamy, smooth flaky pastry!! Very very good!! Store is clean, open and inviting!! The ladies behind the counter are sweet and helpful!! Highly recommend!! Paid cash and get discount, all for $9.10

Stopped by again (was closed Wednesdays when I first visited) and finally got to try the goodies!…read moreAlthough I didn't have time to find parking for a stay - it's a small cute dessert shop with limited seats. I am a fan of the pandan flavor desserts and bought two that I wanted to try. One being a roll cake and the other layer cake. The pandan roll cake with taro I was told is a specialty that they only have on weekends. It was really flavorful, moist and spongy, just perfectly touched with a dash of sweetness in both the cake and the cream - I personally don't like overly sweet foods, and this is just perfect for me and my mom. I'm equally pleased with the layer cake as well it was very fresh and have that "QQ" texture - deliciously chewy and bouncy. This too, just hit right for me on the gentle sweetness, the pandan flavor keeping the spotlight in this dessert. My mom and I are big fans of these desserts. We just came back trying out others pandan layer cakes in Downtown Flushing and this shop beats them by a large margin. I hope to come back more when we could even though this shop is quite a distance for us.

Delicious baked goods with great attention to detail!!…read more I recently visited Shinpuru Baking and was extremely impressed. Everything I tried was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully made. The pastries and breads had a perfect texture, and you can tell a lot of care goes into every item. The staff was friendly and helpful, explaining the different options and making recommendations without being pushy. The bakery itself is clean and welcoming, making it a pleasant place to browse and enjoy treats. Overall, Shinpuru Baking delivers top-quality baked goods and excellent service. I'll definitely be returning and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves fresh, tasty pastries.
