Amazing food, amazing story. JT really puts his heart and soul into his cooking. He backpacked and traveled for months exploring different kinds of home style cooking and brought back home here in AZ! The Lu Rou Fan is by far my favorite. It's Taiwanese caramelized pork belly and is braised for 48 hours and completely melts in your mouth. The pork belly has so much flavor and they even pour the delicious sauce over the rice. It comes with a marinated soft boiled egg and homemade Japanese pickles. So much in one plate, totally worth the price. The Thai tea is delicious, steeped for 48 hours, clean with only water, soy milk base, tea leaves, and sugar. However my favorite is the lemonade. I was lucky enough to try their limited special Yuzu lemonade at the Japanese matsuri festival. I love Yuzu and am so happy to find a place that sells it! The Japanese curry was also really good. If you want to try both I recommend getting the black belt curry like I did, it's half and half. The curry is perfectly flavored and I love that it comes with a potato or carrots chunk. It's loaded with juicy flavorful chicken. It was a lot of food so I brought it home and it warmed up amazingly as leftovers. Follow their Instagram to know where they pop up next around the valley! They don't have a store front so try and catch them at different markets and festivals around town.

JT's Curry Wagon is a pop up food stand that appears at various farmer's markets and cultural/food festivals in the Valley. Their menu is relatively nice and simple: it's a curry bowl that either includes braised pork belly or chicken. Or you can get the bowl that includes both meats which is what I got. It costs more if you use your card so I bought it with cash for a straight $20. The pork belly is so soft. The egg was starkly cold compared to the rest of the warmth of the meal. The style of it reminds me of adobo. The service was friendly and accommodating.

They said they were going to show up at the Downtown Farmers Market on 4/19/2025. However, on the same day--4/19/2025--around 12 p.m., they said they were at the Uptown Farmers Market. What's the problem with them? It looks to me like Uptown has the best crowds, and they probably didn't get a spot there until then. So they stood up Downtown and showed up at Uptown. I couldn't trust their food anymore after something like that.

Beef cowboy curry and Thai tea

The cowboy curry has so many layers of flavor from the sweet/slightly spicy curry base, Korean bbq beef, and the crunchy onion seaweed topping. The owner insisted I try the Thai tea which is made over 3 days and it was SO good! Loved that it's non dairy and not too sweet. At first I was a little surprised it was $10 but there isn't any ice in the tea to dilute it so I saved half to drink the next day! Highly recommend checking this place out.

This is the best curry and Thai tea I've ever had.

Relatively quaint, but still ample seating, we were able to walk in and get a table no problem on a Tuesday evening. I went with the spicy miso ramen with chicken, and added a soft boil egg. I was not disappointed! The broth was super flavorful, perfectly spiced, ample protein and overall portion and perfectly cooked egg. I left full and still had leftovers! My friend got their veggie ramen, which she did enjoy, it was a bit thicker of a broth, but had good flavor. We ended the meal with their matcha tiramisu, which was very light, almost more whip cream style, but equally delicious. Service was friendly and fast. The prices were really reasonable and overall it was an enjoyable experience! The bathroom itself left a bit to be desired, but not enough to deter me from returning if I am in the area and the craving arises!

Unfortunately, I visited today for the first time in a while and left feeling really disappointed, it's changed, and not for the better. I always order the Hakata Tonkotsu Ramen (no meat, replace with egg, extra egg, add corn and cabbage). I was surprised to be told they no longer offer cabbage, which was one of my favorite additions. The eggs were also different. They used to be served whole, and I loved slicing into them to reveal that beautiful golden yolk. This time they arrived already sliced, and once the broth was added, the yolks started to cook. I was also given a side of arugula, which honestly has no place in a ramen bowl. It felt very out of place. There were also pickled carrots, which I ended up removing, not for me. The broth was noticeably greasier than before, which was another letdown. I immediately texted my best friend (the one who originally introduced me to this place) and she shared the same thoughts. She even mentioned telling her server, "Don't mess with a good thing," and that really sums it up. I'm truly sad to say this experience left me very disappointed, and I may have to start looking for a new ramen spot. WHHHHHHYYYYYYY

When I first started coming here, owner Betsy Yee held command of the order desk with efficiency and charm. Always with a sparkle in her eye, she served her guests into her 80s, I think! Tonight I swung through the drive-thru for a spicy teriyaki bowl and Lyn Yee, the owner's daughter hustled my order out to me, even though there was a truck in front of me. What you'll get her is friendly service, a welcome familiarity, reliably good food and a reason to come back again and again. They use good ingredients and definitely don't skimp on serving size. A bowl always gets me two enjoyable meals! I am ashamed I haven't reviewed Blue Fin sooner! It's a legend in Central/Downtown food circles. Amid all the concepts that open with fanfare only to fizzle soon thereafter, Blue Fin stands true to its specialty by serving consistently good food...with a hustle and smile.

Upon entering, we were free to seat ourselves and chose a booth by the wall. It was not busy at all and the service was quick and friendly. We started off with a large sake bomb paired with a Kirin Light ($15). We then ordered two Tonkotsu Ramens, one medium spice and one hot spice ($15.99 each). Honestly, the hot spice level did not taste spicy at all, so I would recommend going extra hot if you like spice. They also provide chili powder on the table if you want to add more spice yourself. The ramen broth itself could have used a tad more flavor. I lightly added some soy sauce to the broth which is something I often do to add a little kick. I loved all of the toppings included, from the green onions to the kikurage (wood ear mushroom). My favorite part was the pork chashu, which was really tender and delicious. I also appreciated that the ramen came with a full soft boiled egg rather than half an egg, and the egg was perfectly runny. Before leaving, we ordered their tea special that was buy one get one. We got a matcha milk tea and a cafe latte which I forgot to take a photo of. I felt like the cafe latte could have used a little more sweetness to balance it. Also, I found it neat that Nishikawa offers a rewards program, not something I see often at ramen shops. My true rating would be 4.5 due to some of the criticisms I mentioned above, but overall I still had a good experience. Thank you for serving us. Visited 5/2/26

I sat there for several minutes and when she came back, she asked if I was ready to order. I asked for a menu and then she tapped this little sign on the table that had a QR code on it. I guess they want you to use your phone to look up the menu but then she brought me a printed menu and a glass of water. I had about a minute to look at the menu before the waitress came back and asked what I wanted. I ordered the small portion of the chicken karaage appetizer and the Nishikawa Black Ramen. Both items came out at about the same time. The chicken was good and there was a lot which somewhat surprised me because I thought they had given me a large portion by mistake. The only downside was that the plate was really small so the chicken kept tumbling onto the table. The ramen was just ok. It came in a really big bowl and there was a lot of broth and toppings but relatively little noodles in comparison. It was more like a bowl of soup. The slice of pork was huge but a little bit chewy when I was expecting it to be tender. The egg wasn't sliced so it was difficult to pick up the entire piece with my chopsticks. The chicken was $7 and the ramen was $18. I would have been ok just getting the chicken, perhaps a large portion for $12. I wouldn't get this particular ramen again. With tax and a tip my total was a little over $31 which isn't the most I've spent at a ramen restaurant, but it wasn't cheap either. I wasn't offered a refill on my drink until after I had paid and was ready to leave. In fact, I only saw the waitress once after my food was brought out, and that was when she brought me the bill. The rest of the time she was somewhere in the kitchen.

The sauces were great but a little too much sauce imo. It made me messy, so if you get this, unless you're eating with a fork and knife, get a stack of napkins. Def would eat it again. The boil shrimp dumplings were mid. Too much chili (and I love chili) and cilantro. Also too much cumin. I like to taste the shrimp when I eat shrimp dumplings and prefer when there's chunks of shrimp. Couldn't taste much except the chili, cilantro and cumin. So if you're obsessed with those flavors, this is for you. The dumpling wrapper was nice though cooked nicely, good consistency/texture.

The green curry dumplings are a nice sized order and came with some lime to squeeze over the dumplings tossed in a green curry sauce. There was also plenty of cilantro on top! These had a bit of a slow heat to them - nothing over the top but it was there. The lamb bao was beautiful and tasty! The lamb patty was delicious, not gamey at all and cooked perfectly. The bun itself is a perfect bao bun. Its bigger than typical, toasty on the outside and so fluffy. Great first visit and looking forward to eating here again!
