Taiwan Mama is good food and drinks full of Taiwan flavor. I love it.

Taiwan Mama is one of my favorite Taiwanese restaurants in Phoenix! The owner's warm and beautiful smile, the familiar Taiwanese faces, and every authentic dish bring back so many memories of home. Whether it's a lunch bento for the office, an afternoon Taiwanese bubble tea and snack, or a casual dinner with friends -- Taiwan Mama is always the perfect choice. Highly recommended if you're looking for a true taste of Taiwan!

All the mixed reviews I wanted to give this place a go. The beef noodle soup was served perfectly hot with hot spice. Missing soy sauce flavors. I could taste the salt, when I should be tasting "Hong shao". The chicken was slightly better. Nice portions. Could use more flavor. The pork cutlet, taste like expected 5 spice and crunchy. I hope they revise their recipe, especially the beef noodle.

I don't think they were expecting the high demands for Taiwanese food in this North Valley area. I came during lunch on a Saturday. The restaurant was packed with people who love trying new places. One employee was trying to manage the front with a bunch of tickets lying on the counter. I'm surprised they didn't have a section to set the tickets. It seems the flow was disorganized. You got people handing the empty plates to the employee as well as setting the empty plates on the counter while he was managing the order section. I found it a little gross with handling dirty plates not washing your hands, then wrapping orders. Who knows if someone forgot to order some trash bins. I ordered the Chicken Cutlet Bento and the Mama Special drink. The chicken cutlet was crispy and moist, but a bit greasy and lacked flavors. I had to eat with the sides to add the extra flavors. There was a wait about 20 minutes for the chicken cutlet. Luckily, Dollar Tree was in the same plaza. As for the Mama Special drink, if you enjoy sour drinks, it might be for you. There is still room for improvement. Hopefully, they get it right!

Our first time trying Taiwan Mama. We arrived before noon on a Saturday and we were the first dine-in customers (staff was working on takeout orders in the kitchen when we arrived). The young lady who helped us was very kind and gave us recommendations and a small strawberry smoothie for my kid. We ordered a braised pork belly and popcorn chicken bento, braised beef soup noodles, and sweet and sour fish (served with rice). Along with an Okinawa milk tea with boba. The braised pork belly was cooked very nicely; I personally felt the flavor was mild and could use more punch. Popcorn chicken was fresh and hot - could use more seasoning on it. The braised beef soup noodle had a rich yet not too heavy broth; thanks to the tomatoes and carrots. It was not a fancy looking bowl but had the taste and coziness of home cooking (hence Taiwan Mama we supposed!). The sweet and sour fish was piping hot. We enjoyed the light breading and fry on the fish fillet and the tangy sauce. The Okinawa milk tea was decent. The boba texture was not our favorite but we appreciated the staff giving us a new tea as she forgot to put the boba in the original order. Pleased to finally have a Taiwanese place closer to us. We will come back to try other dishes on the menu.

Finally a real boba shop and Taiwanese food place in north Phoenix! I believe they are still in soft-opening stage with limited menu, but still, authentic Taiwanese food and drinks. I did not dine in, but the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. I hope they will be OK for people to stay and work/study there, but need to check. It's a bit tricky because it is both a boba shop and a restaurant at the same time.

I'm excited to have a place in the area that has some easy and good Asian food. I was hoping that it could be a reliable go-to place that is not far from my house. Overall, I'm happy with this option. I usually try a boba milk tea but was in a fruit tea mood. I got 0% sweet, and thank goodness I did! The drink was plenty sweet on its own. I ordered the popcorn chicken meal. It was a good chicken; however, the kimchi and broccoli sides were small in comparison to the chicken and for sides in general. It didn't fill the portion dedicated for the sides in the container, so it looked like it was oractically empty. In terms of chicken, the texture was good, and the flavor was pretty good. It could use more white pepper to give it the quintessential popcorn chicken flavor. It seems like there are kinks to still be worked out but I am confident it will improve over time. Happy to have more options on this side of town!

Very clean, friendly service and excellent food! Our OLLI (Osher LIfeline Learning Institute) SIG (Special Interest Group) visited Taiwan Mama and all agreed it was great. I had the Popcorn Chicken Bento and the chicken was delicious. The veggies (cabbage and broccoli) were done perfectly. Sesame balls were shared and they, like everything else, were delicious. Definitely going to make a trip back over to this place again!

We were excited to hear that Taiwanmama had opened a new location in North Phoenix and decided to give it a try. The restaurant's decor is minimalistic, but the space is clean and bright, which creates a welcoming atmosphere. We chose to dine in rather than opt for takeout. Taiwanmama operates more like a fast-casual restaurant, where you place your order at the counter, and the staff brings your food to the table. They serve the food on fancy paper plates, which is a practical choice for minimizing dishwashing time. However, the paper plates weren't very sturdy, and the takeout boxes seemed like a better option. We also noticed that there wasn't a trash can inside, so we were unsure where to dispose of our plates when we finished. In the end, we handed our trash to the cashier. For our meal, we ordered the Popcorn Chicken Bento, Chicken Cutlet Bento, and Braised Pork Belly. Unfortunately, the Popcorn Chicken Bento lacked flavor, and the Chicken Cutlet was dry with a thick, tasteless batter. On the brighter side, the Braised Pork Belly was good, though quite greasy. Our first visit wasn't great, but we hope the experience improves as the restaurant settles in over the next few months.

So I've been here quite a few times now. Usually a hit or miss on how busy they are. Usually order to go now. Decent amount of seating available with ample space. Newly opened and family owned so I hope they are here to stay! Simple food and drink menus, but I always have trouble picking since I have a few favorites. I do love the chicken drumstick bento and the pork belly dishes though. Usually leave with an Okinawa milk tea as well. Good and quick Taiwanese food is somewhat rare in this area so please support this place if you can!

    Very authentic.

Food is really authentic, will be back! This place is a hidden gem! Not in a busy place so you have to try to find it!

There was also a nice sautéed cauliflower dish, just like the way my mom cooks it. I even tonight for special occasion had a Taiwan beer, it's been a long time since I had one and being in a Taiwanese restaurant, it felt appropriate. A really fun evening tonight and Brother Wen even went around to every table to wish everyone a very Happy Lunar New Year! My family is from Taiwan and so I was looking forward to coming here and giving it a try. Now granted, I am picky when it comes to Taiwanese food, so if not made right, you will know about it. We ordered the ground pork over rice and Taiwanese braised pork over rice combos. Both dishes were pretty good. I dont have high expectations here in Phoenix and I was pleasantly surprised! We also checked out their cold case and lots of comforting dishes like Taiwanese pickled cabbage, marinated pig ears, marinated seaweed and tofu gan. We got an order of the seaweed and tofu gan and it was good. Also had a boba tea to go and it was as expected. Boba was chewy like it should be and for $3.35, pretty good deal. Overall, the food was good and there is a specials daily menu by the cash register but its written in Chinese, so you probably need to ask the owner what specials they are having or bring me with you! When we came tonight there was eel over rice, 3 cups chicken over rice combo and papaya milk and green bean sweet soup. I'd definitely come back here again when Im in the mood for Taiwanese food but I would skip dining in. I felt like I was in some school cafeteria, zero ambiance. But the food was legit!
