I liked the fried pork chop, they were flavorful and crispy on the outside, the pepper gave it a little bit of kick. The side of cabbage was okay, but there were an braised egg and tofu, really nostalgic. My husband went straight for the Taiwanese braised pork rice, and it was good too, the bowl was huge, and the pork was perfectly braised but not greasy. It also came with an egg and a tofu. The fried fish cake was good, crispy on the outside and a little bit chewy on the inside. The papaya milk was very refreshing, one of my favorite drink in Taiwan but hard to find in the States. Upon walking in to the store, you feel transported back to Taiwan a bit. Feels very cozy and the mom and dad working there and most likely the owners are super friendly. There is a good amount of table seating if you choose to dine in and it's order at the counter style. Lots of drink options from milk teas to fruit teas to slushes. The beef noodle soup had great flavor, but the noodles were a bit too soft and soggy, and it only came with four slices of beef. The pork chop combo was decent. The pork chop itself was good, though slightly powdery and had a big bone in it. The pickled cucumber was tasty, but the simmered egg and tofu were bland and flavorless. Our favorite item was probably the beef roll. The sauce was delicious, but the portion was small and had very little beef inside. There's no real table service, you order at the counter, find your own seat, and they bring the food out to you. They'll clear the table afterward. As I'm picky with my soup dumplings, I would say that they're a skip. They taste really similar to some store bought ones I've had. Their beef noodle soup used to be really good! The broth was so rich and flavorful and the meat was really tender. The attached photo in my review was their golden era for their beef noodle soup. You can see how deep and rich the soup was. However, the last time we ordered it, the broth was noticeably thinner, less flavored, and had very sad cuts of beef that were tough. So many restaurants end up like this with declining quality :( For drinks, there are a lot of fun options like the papaya drink that aren't typical at other boba shops. 4.5/5 stars, but very close to 5 stars for me. This is one of my family's favourite restaurants. It's a small hole in the wall shop that serves authentic Taiwanese quick bites. I don't think the food is like, "WOW, in your face," but it hits that sweet spot when you're craving your grandmother's cooking and she's thousands of miles away. The food is relatively cheap... if you know what to get. I would not recommend the pork belly meal. You get three (albeit decent sized) pieces of pork belly for $10 or so, which is... not great. The noodles are good, as well as the popcorn chicken. I cannot tell the difference between the special and the regular pork chop... Well... When eaten side by side I can, but they do not label which one is which when they bring it out or when you order to go, so while I can taste some what of a difference, it's not worth the up-charge. Otherwise, the pork chops are a good size for a meal. I really like the popcorn chicken. I am a sucker for their boba as well. It is not amazing boba. There's better boba shops out here. A hidden gem! I was happy to come across this Taiwanese cafe! It is hard to find Taiwanese food in Arizona, other than hot pot so I was excited to check this place out! The broth was not too salty and not too bland. The meats were soft but the only down side would be there were quite a bit of fat around the meats. The place has a casual, hole-in-the-wall sort of feel to it, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. They have a fairly big standard menu, as well as seasonal specials as well. I've tried a number of dishes here and most are very good. I highly recommend the beef noodle soup, marinated pig ears, Taiwanese fried chicken, and spicy beef tendons.
