I think tonight's visit was my 2nd time at this location. I love that it's bigger inside and has more room to sit comfortably. I have been to the Sedona locations a handful of times, but it is cramped in there! The two times I've been here to the Gilbert location have been great! The employees are helpful and they are pretty quick getting your order out. Tonight I went with a friend and we ordered the same thing. You can't go wrong with the Pop n Bo combo. At $16.25, it's a pretty good deal for a generous portion of their popcorn chicken WITH a boba drink! They have merch for sale as well as other desserts in the fridge case by the register. If you're a boba lover like me, you're gonna want to hit up Sono Kitchen & Boba. It's the home of the Super Size boba drinks (an additional $2.50 if you add it to the combo)!!! Just be careful if you take them to go. Last time I came, the drink toppled over as I reversed my car and the whole thing spilled on my passenger side! *gasp* Luckily, they were kind enough to make me a new one when I brought it in and told them what happened. On a beautiful Saturday, came to the mall specifically to have lunch at Sono. What's crazy is the line next door at Chipotle is crazy busy, and this hidden gem, it was busy enough but not packed. Although, I'm kinda happy about that - no long line! We ordered the same thing we got our first visit, but I seriously need to try more of their stuff. When you walk in, the shop is very inviting. The bright yellows and whites help brighten and warm the room. I was surprised at how extensive the menu was; I thought there would be a majority of drinks and two items to snack on, but there were definitely more than I was prepared to decide on. I opted for the popcorn chicken. As I waited for my food, there was a couple fun things to see, like their wall of blind boxes you can purchase. For the price of the popcorn chicken, I felt that the amount I received was very fair, and honestly worth it. There were a lot of big pieces of chicken (suchhhh a perk since it could have been all deep fry), and the flavour was super yummy. I think next time I'd order it with extra seasoning or garlic/basil (? I think they had these two in there). I felt it could have been seasoned just a SMIDGE more, but it was still tasty. Came here for lunch with my partner - I ordered the sono boba milk tea (with regular boba) and the basil chicken don (which came with macaroni salad, seaweed salad, and cucumber salad) and he ordered the pop n bo (popcorn chicken and a mango snow white (with peach popping boba) and everything was great--the drinks were not too sweet, and the food was not too salty. Service was a little slow, but the piping hot food made up for it. The popcorn chicken was definitely the star of the show - light but crisp coating, with lots of white pepper. The chicken pieces were also large and hearty. Probably the best Taiwanese popcorn chicken in the valley (that I've had). The only critique I have is that the boba seemed to be a little overcooked - there was a nice chew but not quite as Q as I personally enjoy. We'll definitely be back though! read more

Stopped here for lunch and arrived around 11:40am. The owner, Jerry, is super friendly. He made sure to accommodate my friend's dairy allergy for her drink and assured the food was safe to eat. The Teriyaki Chicken that comes with the Sono House Noodles was perfectly sauced and not too sweet. The side dishes that come with the entrees -- pickled cucumbers, seaweed salad, macaroni salad, sweet steamed egg bite -- were all tasty! I stopped by on Thursday evening with my friend and this place was busy. No one greeted us as we walked in and we assumed we just had to place our order on the kiosk. We ordered one mango blended drink and one Thai tea with boba. There was no where available to sit as they had already put the chairs up on the tables. The few tables that were available, were taken. It was only 7pm so not sure why they had done that to the chairs.... We waited a long time for our drinks, about 20 to 25 minutes. I was super excited for a new boba place in Gilbert and especially one with a SUPER size boba option, but the boba drinks are my least favorite thing about this place. I've tried several drinks and haven't found one that I love yet: - Tiramisu was just ok. It didn't have any flavors that stood out. - Thai Milk Tea was super underwhelming and didn't taste like the Thai Tea at other places. - Taro Yama - My husband really enjoys this drink, but this was my least favorite one I tried here. - Sea Salt Mango - The only drink I've tried so far that I somewhat enjoy, but not enough to get a SUPER size version of. I do however enjoy most of the food here! The XLB (soup dumplings) was pleasantly good. Their popcorn chicken is well portioned and delicious and comes with a very delicious sauce. I also love being able to order off a kiosk. The service and staff are super nice! They are so accommodating and welcoming. Stopped in for a boba run and had a great experience all around. I ordered the Taro Yama, and while the flavor was pretty standard for a taro boba drink, the boba pearls were perfectly cooked--soft, chewy, and just right. Solid quality overall. The guy at the register was friendly and helpful. He answered all our questions about the different drink flavors without rushing us, which was much appreciated. The place had a fun, lively vibe. Music was upbeat and at a good volume--not too loud, just enough to add some energy. Like another reviewer said here, when ordering the beef noodle soup to go, they always forget about the beef! Who pays $18 for a bowl of soup with no protein? We stopped into this new asian eatery because we love the food at the restaurant by the same name in Sedona. This used to be Haiku Tokyo and the location has changed over to this. We ordered our food to go at the counter. Prices are a little steep for street food, but flavors are good. Portions are good size. The boba was good but nothing extra special to their flavors. The place wasn't all that packed, but the kitchen was kinda slow to deliver our order. Thank goodness we were checking our bags because they gave us the wrong items two times. They gave us the first batch of items and then stared at us because we were waiting for the rest of the food. They lose a star because they need to improve this system for doling out orders. My son's boba was snatched up by another customer who thought it was his. So, we also had to wait while they remade his drink. It took us about 30 minutes to order and leave with all our food/drinks for 4 people. There isn't that much seating in the place, but the inside was clean and pleasant. There is also some outdoor seating if you prefer the open air. We will most likely be back again because the food was delicious. I hope they can improve upon their accuracy and service for the future. read more

There is a Sono in Sedona and Flagstaff that I've been to. I drink a lot of boba and eat my fair share of popcorn chicken. Sono is not horrible but for me there are other places I'd go to bc I prefer their boba and chicken more. Located next to Chipotle in San Tan village so there's plenty of parking in the lot. Unless you go on a weekend and you're weaving around looking for a spot. Lols But my friend and I went on a Friday around lunch so no problem finding parking. There is seating outside on the patio and inside. It's not a huge spot but it's not tiny with only a few tables. When we walked in, we were greeted by the guy working the front. We could order with him or the kiosk but went with the latter since he was packing an order. No problem ordering from the kiosk. Our order came out quick. The popcorn chicken comes in a pretty generous portion at $11 with big pieces but flavor wise it is lacking for me. In the menu picture there are pieces of fried basil and mine had none. I also prefer white vs their dark meat but that's just preference. I did not order boba tea this time but my friend said she liked her Thai tea. I also tried her gyoza and it was good. I came here with my family the other day to try it out. I don't usually go to boba places, but my cousin was excited for this place. The facility itself is kinda small, and when we went it was pretty busy. Definitely be prepared for limited seating if you have a bigger group. While we were in line we were deciding what we would like to drink. It was kinda hard to decide because the menu doesn't describe what is inside each drink. There is a paper menu up front that describes like 6 drinks out of the whole menu if you wanna play it safe. I also want to mention, when we ordered there was no cashier. It was done through a kiosk. So we couldn't ask questions either. Everything came out pretty quick. It didn't take too long for everything we ordered. I spent over $100 here for 3 drinks, 3 plates of food, and 3 appetizers. The soup dumplings were pretty good. I would order those again! The shrimp tempura was also good, that was my mom's favorite part. The gyoza was typical, nothing special but not bad. I ordered the dragon eyes drink, I don't know what it consisted of besides dragon fruit. But it was very refreshing and good. My daughter got the taro drink and she liked it as well. My mom got the orange splash drink which just tasted like carbonated orange juice but still good. The food was okay, I don't think I'd pay to eat there again. But you do get a lot of food for what you are paying for. My cousin got a drink, the Alaskan sky, or something like that? But she did not like it. The workers were busy but were nice to exchange the drink to something else. One of the employees actually tasted the original drink and apologized saying it didn't taste right and something must've been done wrong when making it. One thing I will mention that I saw was in the kitchen. The cook was checking something on the stove and he moved the lid of the pan into the top of a trash can. I didn't see actual trash in the trash can so can't say if it was a clean bin or what but it didn't look good for the business. It strayed me away more from wanting to order food again. Overall, I don't think I would return here. I know other boba spots that have drinks I like. The food isn't worth it, in my opinion, to return either. Really loved this place, I've come pretty regularly and brought them several new customers by referring my friends and several family members! Such a pretty, bright and inviting atmosphere! Truly enjoyed this space, ordering a basket of the soup dumplings (Xiao Long Bao's) all for myself paired with a guava lava boba at every visit! The service is always quick and friendly, so I can't complain about anything literally EXCEPT that they've made the decision to get rid of their soup dumplings. It makes me so sad because I honestly wasn't a fan personally of their other dishes, and I loved having somewhere local to go for a quick Xiao Long Bao fix. The service was not great. It took like 20 mins for me to get my salt and pepper chicken when there were only a couple patrons in the restaurant. When a drink came out, they mumbled the type of drink it was so me and the other lady in there wondered if it was my drink or hers. They should just call out the number on our receipts. That would be helpful. The boba drink was way too sweet. Granted I should have ordered 25 percent sugar but I didn't know I could do that bc it was my first time there. Sorry I'm not a boba ordering expert. The chicken was ok, nothing impressive. Tastes like all the other popcorn chicken elsewhere. Sauce was fine. Overall not impressed. Ordered a plate the chicken plate and steak plate and steak didn't look like the pictures and there wasn't enough steak. Chicken dish was better. The food is delicious and unique from many of the restaurants in the area. But best is the customer service. The owner is kind, patient, friendly, and will explain the menu to you as well as suggest delicious drinks. The atmosphere is calm and the wait times are short. We tried Sono kitchen for the first time and had a great experience. The lady working there was helpful and explained all the drinks to my 3 sons. We ended up ordering 3 dragon eyes and the boys loved the cat lids and the flavor of the drink. We ordered the soup dumplings and although we are huge Din Tai Fung fans, these were very tasty and a good price. Shortly afterwards they gave us sesame chicken to sample and it was a huge sample size (enough for me and my 3 boys), we plan to order these next time, they were incredible.
