    Mongolian Beef. Excellent.
    Marybeth M.

Well. Nice looking place. Good parking. Good service. Very busy when we were here. Now for the food. **The Mongolian beef was excellent! Lots of tender beef and onions in a wonderful rich brown sauce. Yummy. ** The hot and sour soup. I must agree with a previous reviewer. Not good at all. At all. Bland. Awful. They should completely revamp the recipe or take it off the menu. They were kind enough to take the soup back and replace with another item. The signature pork soup dumplings were disappointing. Texture, flavor. Broke apart too easily on the steamer. Just missed the mark. We will probably return to try some other things. I really wanted to enjoy this place. We will try one more time.

The BBQ Pork Steam Buns(4 PCs) 叉烧包 were moist & tasty. The Twice-cooked Pork Slices 回锅肉 vegetables were crunchy & fresh, but the sauce was a bit salty. And we were surprised it didn't come with any rice. It's the first restaurant that didn't include rice with similar type dishes. We'd recommend including rice in the future.

Great ambience, clean, bright, open. Even when it was packed it didn't feel crowded.

Another great experience, great service, great clean open ambience, excellent service. The food is stellar, authentic, fresh, high quality ingredients. Ordered the pork soup dumplings, bulgogi beef rice and scallion pancakes. Everything was fantastic. Each time I leave here I feel satisfied, happy and healthy, and find myself saying "that was so good" for the next couple days. Highly recommend and so glad they're close by!

Enjoyable selection of food. I'm always delighted to have some Mapo soup and many restaurants don't have that in the menu. The cucumber salad with cilantro was delicious! It has a bit of a kick. Service is attentive. Restaurant didn't seem loud even though it was crowded which was nice.

Both the service and the food were excellent on our first visit to Uncle Bao. We had the shrimp dumplings, five soup dumpling sampler, black pepper beef, and twice cooked pork. The servers were very attentive and made sure we were enjoying everything. The atmosphere is clean and inviting. We're excited to go back and try more of the menu!

Looks great, but is quite bland...

I ordered the Cold Mixing Black Fungus 凉拌木耳 (Wood ear mushroom cold salad) and the Braised Beef Noodle Soup 红烧牛肉面. The Cold Black Fungus salad was on point. Perfect mixture of sweet, tangy, and a hint of spicy. I loved it and devoured it quickly. I was not, however, terribly impressed with the Beef Noodle Soup. The broth was very bland. I added a lot of soy sauce and chile oil, but it just did not help. I expected so much more flavor here. The noodles did not have much texture either. They were bland and very soft. I will go back and try some dumplings and will most definitely grab more of the black fungus salad. The Coke was very good. Ice cold and perfect. I was pleased that it was from a fountain and not in the can. Also, the place was very clean, with a pleasant atmosphere. The service was friendly and prompt.

We had such a great dinner here a few Saturdays ago! I brought my sister and friend along and were seated as soon as we walked in. The menus were given to us and a few minutes later, our orders were taken. We ordered: Fried cream cheese wontons House chow mein Pork wonton in chili sauce Pork wonton in chicken broth Spicy fried green beans Pan fried pork chives and shrimp dumplings All the dishes came out one by one. The green beans were delicious! They were crispy, super flavorful, and crunchy. The chow mein and soup were also my favorite. The pork wonton with chili dumplings weren't spicy so they weren't our favorite. The crispy pan fried ones were bomb. Almost everything was tasty and fresh. Service was good and super fast. Our plates were picked up as soon as they saw we were done. The bill was also brought out quickly. The inside was clean.

The bao here is quite delicious, with some unique flavors that really stand out. The orange chicken was also extremely tasty--perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Since the restaurant is family-owned and family-operated, you can really feel the authenticity in every dish. Everything was reasonably priced, and the portions were generous, which made the meal even more satisfying. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, and you could genuinely tell she loves what she does. Her warmth and enthusiasm added a lot to the overall experience. Overall, this is a great spot for comforting, flavorful food served with authentic family pride.

Visited Uncle Bao's while in Phoenix. The atmosphere was clean and contemporary, and at first glance it felt like a place with real promise, but unfortunately the service was only okay and the food didn't deliver. We ordered several signature dishes, including the Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings), which completely missed the mark -- a large meatball with no soup defeats the entire purpose of the dish. The wontons were disappointing as well, filled with pork only instead of the more flavorful pork-and-shrimp combination. The Dan Dan noodles lacked the signature spicy, nutty, savory depth and came across as flat and flavorless. Overall, a letdown, and while they may be catering to a different clientele, anyone seeking authenticity will likely walk away disappointed unless changes are made. Saluti

This is a restaurant with a big open space. Plenty of seating and you can see them making the dumplings and other food. Staff were so sweet and welcoming. I didn't have a huge appetite but needed to put something on my stomach so I just got chicken eggrolls and pork belly buns. The eggrolls were good. The buns were good too, but the pork belly was really fatty. The flavor was good and everything was fresh. There are a lot of options on the menu so I want to come back and try other stuff when my appetite is bigger. The space is clean. Overall, I had a great experience.

We went to Uncle Bao for an early dinner. The staff was super friendly and very efficient! I love that you can watch them make the dumplings behind the glass; I should've grabbed a picture! We tried the soup dumplings, spicy wontons, sesame buns, and shrimp dumplings. Everything was very tasty. The soup dumplings were larger than I prefer (I like them more bite-sized), but the flavor was excellent. My husband especially loved the sesame buns....perfect size and taste! The spicy wontons were my favorite. They weren't overly spicy, just flavorful with a really nice wonton texture. The menu has a great selection without being overwhelming. We'll definitely be back to try a few more dishes next time!

If you like Asian dumplings, Bao, potstickers and noodle dishes, check this place out. It's a cousins of Uncle Panda in Glendale. I think I liked the setup and aesthetics here a bit better. It was fun to watch the lady make the dumplings. Food is delicious, proper texture for the dough and sumptuous nuggets of protein and veg inside. I confess that I have my go-to items but I really need to try others. I've never not loved what I ordered at the other location. As for service, it was a bit slow but there were two large parties our server tended to. For handmade dumplings, I can wait! The server kept us posted and kept our beverages full, so that's a big plus. All in all, a solid 4 stars. Never been? No time like the present, right? Go now!

That said, expectations adjusted, this spot delivers a solid yum cha experience for Arizona. As you pull in, you'll notice it's located in an unassuming strip mall. Inside, the atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect -- controlled chaos, with traditional steam carts rolling through a packed dining room filled with large family tables. The service is hit or miss, and with dim sum you often want your favorites right away, so sometimes you just have to wait for the cart to come around. Tried a variety of dishes. The Cheung Fun has always been a favorite of mine and it was decent. The Shumai, Har Gow, Char Siu Bao, Lo Bak Go, Taro, and of course Dan Tat (egg tarts) were all good. I think I'm officially done ordering Wu Gok though -- that one didn't do much for me and probably won't be on my list next time. Almost forgot, you can't have yum cha without Gai Lan, and as usual it was good -- honestly a dish that's hard to mess up. Overall, the best dim sum I've had so far in Arizona.
