    Walnut Shrimp with Mayo Sauce
    Mike L.

This place is a Chinese staple in the west valley. Don't know how I haven't written a review as I've been here countless times for dim sum, dinners, and celebrations. Came by with my family on a Sunday evening for dinner. It wasn't prime time dim sum hours so there was no wait and plenty of seating available. Took a gander at their extensive menu and went with crab and fish maw soup, Hainanese chicken, walnut shrimp, fried crispy tofu, braised tofu, scallops with black bean sauce, and the soy sauce egg noodles (from dim sum). Everything came out quickly as usual and tasted great. Service is improved as they have started boxing up your leftovers. We were laughing from the surprise of this step up. Good place that needs no further explanation. See you all there!

I love dim sum and live in the east valley. I wanted to go back to Great Wall since it's been a few months since I last visited. What I love about the Great Wall is the variety of dim sum is incredible. The amount of dishes that come out on carts is like a roving buffet. Once seated it feels like the carts all swarm and you can literally have food on the table within minutes. The siu mai is the largest in the valley and one of my favorites. As in most Chinese restaurants, fast and efficient is synonymous with good service. There is usually very little conversation with the service staff but they get you what you need. This place is probably the best in the valley for dim sum and I would gladly make the drive out west.

Great Wall is my favorite destination for dim sum. I dropped in to get a few small plates for lunch, and it made me regret going a few months without having visited. It's always delicious. This place isn't much to look at. The outside is super unassuming and the interior is passable. They've definitely made some cosmetic improvements to the place, but if you're hoping for a more ambiant experience, this isn't for you. Great Wall has built its reputation on consistently yummy, authentic Chinese food, not aesthetics. This trip, I opted for a few of my favorite staples. Their jalapeño fried wings are always fire. They are larger wings and drums, so you always get a good amount of meat on each piece. The batter is fried nice and crispy, but the chicken itself is moist and delicious. The pork and shrimp shumai are another favorite. I will get at least one order of them every single time I go, no exceptions. The third dish was another pork dumpling steamed and then pan fried a bit for a delicious texture. Not pictured was a shrimp dumpling that was full of flavor. The real ones know when you go here, you have to ask for or help yourself to their chili oil. You mix it with a little red wine vinegar and it makes the best dipping sauce for all your selections. Also, Saturday and Sunday lunch service is the best time to go for dim sum. It's busy, and that means the dim sum carts are replenished often with hot, fresh options. For four reasonably sized dishes, I paid $33 and change, plus tip. I took home a box of leftovers, so I would say Great Wall offers great value for your dollar.

Early 2026 we came at 4 pm to try the food. We learned that the weekday dim sum service stops at 2 pm. We ordered 5 entrees and enjoyed an excellent meal served by really nice waitstaff who had a great sense of humor. We enjoyed the excellent service and the meal. We had Snap Peas, Bamboo Shoots and Shiitake Mushrooms; Sweet and Sour Chicken; Fried Oysters; Shrimp Egg Fu Young in a very nice sauce, and "Boston Lobster" (aka American Lobster) sautéed with Ginger and Scallions; and Chili Oil, a pot of Green Tea and white Rice. The huge dining area was empty when we arrived. Many diners arrived about 6 pm.

My granddaughter asked to eat here before leaving AZ. I must say that I was a little suspicious since I didn't think she liked Chinese food. Haha. It was like being in Hawaii with the Cantonese style food. Chow fun, dim sum and full regular menu too. It was all good.

Food: 3 stars - Ordered 2 small lobsters (2 small lobsters for $40), walnut shrimp ($23), deep fried crispy tofu ($17), snow pea leaves ($29), 1/2 roast duck ($22), and beef with Chinese broccoli ($22). We also ordered hot tea to drink for 3 adults. The preggo wife was craving Chinese food so we made the drive and made sure her cravings were satisfied. We ordered for 5-6 people even though it was just me, my mom, my pregnant wife, and our 17 month old toddler. We don't mind leftovers and wanted the variety as we do not come here for dinner very often. My gripes - the deep fried crispy tofu was not crispy, the walnut shrimp batter needed to be more crunchy, and the roast duck skin could have been crispier too. We paid almost $190 (after tip) for 6 dishes. Are they including a tariff tax? Service: 4 stars - got seated quickly as they were not busy. Some servers spoke Vietnamese so it was nice to be able to describe the dishes we wanted in Vietnamese and have them understand us to help place our order. The food came out quick and when we were finished, they packed up our leftovers for us as well. Ambiance: 4 stars - throughout the years, this place has definitely improved as they grew and became more "mainstream" if you will. This used to be a "hole-in-the-wall" kind of spot that did not bring in a large variety of patrons but with the growth in the area and popularity of dim sum, they have been able to clean the place up quite a bit. The front doors could use an upgrade though. Overall: 3 stars - the quality and value of food is always going to hold the most weight in my ratings for a restaurant. I have eaten here for dim sum many times and may return to give a separate review for dim sum service. However, this dinner service was good, but not great and far from perfect. I think a 3 star overall rating is solid for a place like this during dinner service. I wouldn't come back often or regularly but would recommend if y'all are craving those traditional Chinese dishes.

Went for dim sum brunch with friends and left so full. the pricing was reasonable and there were plenty of shrimp options (big for me because I'm pescatarian). I will say that if you're vegetarian, you can put in an order for more veg-friendly options, otherwise, you may not get a lot to eat. I loved all the shrimp dumplings, but also tried the radish squares for the first time which were so yummy. Remember to ask for chili oil if you like a little heat! And you have to finish your meal with a hong kong style egg tart and one of the sesame balls with red bean paste. The service was great. No frills, and super efficient. Make sure you grab as much as you want when the cart comes around.

We waited about 15 minutes for a table on a Saturday. The dim sum cart was waiting at our table when we were seated. It was nice to see the carts. It's a lost perk during dim sum. We ordered all the dishes we wanted within 10 minutes. We were eating before our tea arrived. The dim sum was good and it was good portions. It was a crowded dining room and service was quick.

I lived on the west coast for many years and became accustomed to the best in just about every style of Asian food there is. Since moving to Phoenix, it's been very hit and miss with Asian cuisine and mostly miss with Chinese. One meal that I've missed the most is Dim Sum. So, I Yelped Dim Sum. It looks like Great Wall Cuisine is about the only game in town! I had a long drive to get there. Being in the heart of Maryvale, there was a lot of homelessness and some concern about the area. Upon arrival, the external appearance of the restaurant was rundown and concerning. We parked and went inside to find the very large restaurant sparsely decorated an maximized for seating. To my surprise, the crowd was family oriented and really good, which was in contrast to what I had experienced outdoors. It took a little while, but once seated, the carts zeroed in on us! It was a whirlwind of dish after dish! Everything we had was fresh and delicious! Great wall is definitely real-deal Dim Sum. And when I get that Dim Sum craving again, Great Wall will be my go to for sure!

It had an awful smell when you walked in. Everyone smokes, it is gross. Its packed like a fish & meat market. No one speaks English, they walk around with trays & you don't know what the foods are. Awful & dirty

I'm fairly surprised that there's good Dim Sum in Arizona, as someone that's from California I've had my share of different restaurants. It's very comparable and even better than some of the places I've had. They have carts coming around that you can order items off of. Everything is very fresh and comes out piping hot (only acceptable way). As it is an Asian restaurant, some things are self-serve and aren't over the top service. However, be patient and don't be discouraged if you don't speak Chinese/Vietnamese because the food is worth it. The restaurant is very dim and seems to be a little outdated. For Dim Sum, it is one of the cheaper spots. I don't love that they open at 10am and wished that they opened earlier. It was super busy on a Sunday morning, people were waiting before the store even opened. ig: @cravingswithcaf

Loved the throw back to Hong Kong dim sum houses! Ladies and men I could practice my paltry Cantonese with. Their charsiu barbecue pork baked buns, steamed pao are top notch. Their ou kok or fried taro dumplings are fresh and tasty and so was their fupeikuen or beancurd skin rolls that was in broth. These almost made up for not having siewlongpao or soup dumplings. The taro cake was okay. Loved their crispy roast pork. Sesame balls with red bean paste are Yessss. Egg tart was meh. Mango pudding was okay. No to the century egg porridge. The large chunks of meat was off putting. Review #999

My friend form out of town was craving dimsum so we stopped by here to get some dimsum. The outside is definitely unassuming kind of hole-in-the-wall vibes. Inside is pretty big and nicer, looks like they host weddings and other events. The service was good. I'd love to come again maybe with a bigger crowd so we can try more!

Twice we were offered other people's food, so there is a need to update POS systems or front of house management. The cheese puffs are very good. The orange chicken was more sweet than spicy. No presentation, just put on a plate and take it out. I felt like I was at someone's home, rather than a restaurant. Maybe that is the vibe they are going for. The dish was more like opening up a bag of chicken fingers then dump a sweet orange sauce. If anyone has had a frozen orange chicken meal, made by a company that is famous for their pies. A meal that can be purchased at your local grocery store...well, that is close to what we are talking about. It came out without any serving utensil. WTH? There are regulars and they seem to be like family, so that is cool, once you have been accepted in the circle of trust. Maybe I am spoiled, because we tend to get very good Chinese in Las Vegas, due to the "Whales" coming in to gamble. Maybe this considered fabulous for Scottsdale, but certainly not what I was raised to expect. Now, it has been few weeks since my nephew and I tried this place. I wanted to let it breathe before posting "hot". To be fair. We were offered some dumplings to apologize for the wait. We declined, because I was afraid of what they may taste like. I asked for the check and the lady resisted saying that we hardly touched the food and she did not want to charge. This also was nice, but my ENTIRE working life has been in the hospitality/customer service/food service industry. They have bills to pay. They prepared the meal. They provided the service. They deserved to be paid. She apologized once again and said that they were using a new cook. I thought that I might be unusually over-critical however, my nephew, who resembles a trash compactor went away saying that there would be way he would ever get food from there. I wish this place well. Maybe there needs to be a better front of house/back of house dynamic. I can think of many things that would help.
