My family and I came for Sunday Dim sum. Have been looking for an authentic dimsum spot and this place has been heavily recommended to us. The service is super swift. They were pretty nice to us. The food variety was honestly amazing. Enjoyed the shumai and shrimp balls the most. Ambiance feels busy, loud but tons of food options for all. The place seems well kept. Would come back!

This place is a Chinese staple in the west valley. Don't know how I haven't written a review as I've been here countless times for dim sum, dinners, and celebrations. Came by with my family on a Sunday evening for dinner. It wasn't prime time dim sum hours so there was no wait and plenty of seating available. Took a gander at their extensive menu and went with crab and fish maw soup, Hainanese chicken, walnut shrimp, fried crispy tofu, braised tofu, scallops with black bean sauce, and the soy sauce egg noodles (from dim sum). Everything came out quickly as usual and tasted great. Service is improved as they have started boxing up your leftovers. We were laughing from the surprise of this step up. Good place that needs no further explanation. See you all there!

Visited Great Wall Cuisine while in Phoenix. First off, it's only fair to say this review can't compare to my in-laws' famous and highly rated upscale Chinese restaurant -- which also happens to carry Great Wall as part of the name. That said, expectations adjusted, this spot delivers a solid yum cha experience for Arizona. As you pull in, you'll notice it's located in an unassuming strip mall. Inside, the atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect -- controlled chaos, with traditional steam carts rolling through a packed dining room filled with large family tables. The service is hit or miss, and with dim sum you often want your favorites right away, so sometimes you just have to wait for the cart to come around. Tried a variety of dishes. The Cheung Fun has always been a favorite of mine and it was decent. The Shumai, Har Gow, Char Siu Bao, Lo Bak Go, Taro, and of course Dan Tat (egg tarts) were all good. I think I'm officially done ordering Wu Gok though -- that one didn't do much for me and probably won't be on my list next time. Almost forgot, you can't have yum cha without Gai Lan, and as usual it was good -- honestly a dish that's hard to mess up. Overall, the best dim sum I've had so far in Arizona. PS -- thanks Joyce W for the recommendation. Saluti

10/11/26: 5 diners for the best Dim Sum in the valley. Everything is so fresh, hot and tasty coming off the dim sum carts. We also ordered 2 noodle dishes, Beef chow fun and chicken pan fried noodles, that were tasty, hot and a lot of food. On Sundays, they open at 10a and it was packed at 11am. Great environment to have a casual conversation while enjoying an awesome meal! Highly recommend and we will be back next month!

My parents and brother regularly have dim sum in OC and LA, so it was a pleasant surprise to find a hole in the wall/legit dim sum in Phoenix. Also, let's be realistic. Is this a 4 star restaurant overall? Of course not. Is this 4 star hole in the wall Chinese restaurant that is sorta ghetto but the food is good due to scarcity? You betcha. 99% of the servers and patrons are Chinese immigrants and it was great to have so many dishes from my childhood like pork spare ribs, pork buns, and har gow. Just dont expect the cleanest restaurant or even a nice smelling one. I mean, they store the plastic wrapped dessert cart right next to the open fish tanks of crabs, lobsters, and geoduck. Just come here with right-sized expectations and know that although dim sum goes till 3 pm, a lot of stuff can run out before noon especially on the weekends.

Note: we came only for their weekend dim sum. Got seated within 15min on a busy Sat lunch - we love how the tables move pretty fast if you get here early enough. As soon as we were seated the server got our drink order and cindiment requests. Shortly after, the ladies followed with all the food carts. We enjoyed our favorites, but we forgot to take picture of ha ching (shrimp rice rolls), pork belly, sesame balls. While some of the other dim sum restaurants are reducing menu options, using less expensive ingredients or shortcut techniques to clean mbat the rising costs, we are grateful this restaurant continues to maintain its standard.

Great Wall is my favorite destination for dim sum. I dropped in to get a few small plates for lunch, and it made me regret going a few months without having visited. It's always delicious. This place isn't much to look at. The outside is super unassuming and the interior is passable. They've definitely made some cosmetic improvements to the place, but if you're hoping for a more ambiant experience, this isn't for you. Great Wall has built its reputation on consistently yummy, authentic Chinese food, not aesthetics. This trip, I opted for a few of my favorite staples. Their jalapeño fried wings are always fire. They are larger wings and drums, so you always get a good amount of meat on each piece. The batter is fried nice and crispy, but the chicken itself is moist and delicious. The pork and shrimp shumai are another favorite. I will get at least one order of them every single time I go, no exceptions. The third dish was another pork dumpling steamed and then pan fried a bit for a delicious texture. Not pictured was a shrimp dumpling that was full of flavor. The real ones know when you go here, you have to ask for or help yourself to their chili oil. You mix it with a little red wine vinegar and it makes the best dipping sauce for all your selections. Also, Saturday and Sunday lunch service is the best time to go for dim sum. It's busy, and that means the dim sum carts are replenished often with hot, fresh options. For four reasonably sized dishes, I paid $33 and change, plus tip. I took home a box of leftovers, so I would say Great Wall offers great value for your dollar.

I love dim sum and live in the east valley. I wanted to go back to Great Wall since it's been a few months since I last visited. What I love about the Great Wall is the variety of dim sum is incredible. The amount of dishes that come out on carts is like a roving buffet. Once seated it feels like the carts all swarm and you can literally have food on the table within minutes. The siu mai is the largest in the valley and one of my favorites. As in most Chinese restaurants, fast and efficient is synonymous with good service. There is usually very little conversation with the service staff but they get you what you need. This place is probably the best in the valley for dim sum and I would gladly make the drive out west.

Early 2026 we came at 4 pm to try the food. We learned that the weekday dim sum service stops at 2 pm. We ordered 5 entrees and enjoyed an excellent meal served by really nice waitstaff who had a great sense of humor. We enjoyed the excellent service and the meal. We had Snap Peas, Bamboo Shoots and Shiitake Mushrooms; Sweet and Sour Chicken; Fried Oysters; Shrimp Egg Fu Young in a very nice sauce, and "Boston Lobster" (aka American Lobster) sautéed with Ginger and Scallions; and Chili Oil, a pot of Green Tea and white Rice. The huge dining area was empty when we arrived. Many diners arrived about 6 pm.

My granddaughter asked to eat here before leaving AZ. I must say that I was a little suspicious since I didn't think she liked Chinese food. Haha. It was like being in Hawaii with the Cantonese style food. Chow fun, dim sum and full regular menu too. It was all good.

Food: 3 stars - Ordered 2 small lobsters (2 small lobsters for $40), walnut shrimp ($23), deep fried crispy tofu ($17), snow pea leaves ($29), 1/2 roast duck ($22), and beef with Chinese broccoli ($22). We also ordered hot tea to drink for 3 adults. The preggo wife was craving Chinese food so we made the drive and made sure her cravings were satisfied. We ordered for 5-6 people even though it was just me, my mom, my pregnant wife, and our 17 month old toddler. We don't mind leftovers and wanted the variety as we do not come here for dinner very often. My gripes - the deep fried crispy tofu was not crispy, the walnut shrimp batter needed to be more crunchy, and the roast duck skin could have been crispier too. We paid almost $190 (after tip) for 6 dishes. Are they including a tariff tax? Service: 4 stars - got seated quickly as they were not busy. Some servers spoke Vietnamese so it was nice to be able to describe the dishes we wanted in Vietnamese and have them understand us to help place our order. The food came out quick and when we were finished, they packed up our leftovers for us as well. Ambiance: 4 stars - throughout the years, this place has definitely improved as they grew and became more "mainstream" if you will. This used to be a "hole-in-the-wall" kind of spot that did not bring in a large variety of patrons but with the growth in the area and popularity of dim sum, they have been able to clean the place up quite a bit. The front doors could use an upgrade though. Overall: 3 stars - the quality and value of food is always going to hold the most weight in my ratings for a restaurant. I have eaten here for dim sum many times and may return to give a separate review for dim sum service. However, this dinner service was good, but not great and far from perfect. I think a 3 star overall rating is solid for a place like this during dinner service. I wouldn't come back often or regularly but would recommend if y'all are craving those traditional Chinese dishes.

Amazing Restaurant!…read more All amazing people of Phoenix, if you have not gone to this phenomenal restaurant yet, you really need to. This is one convenient, high quality, extremely flavorful Chinese place that me and my husband visited today. It was just high quality all the way! When we arrived it was quiet. Superbly clean, neat and tidy. Cute decor and a nice inviting vibe. We were sat at a table and given our menus. Prices were really good. Especially when you get the quality of food that comes out of that kitchen. Our waitress was super-nice. Which is hard to find these days. She was so nice to everyone who came in. When we sat down, a lady who wasn't too sure about the place came in asking all kinds of questions. And she patiently answered each one as if she was a close family member. A homeless guy came in asking for water. She jumped right up to give him a HUGE cup of ice and water and was so kind to him. Then other patrons came in to order and pick up food and each one, regardless of age, ethnic makeup, what they were wearing, all were greeted so warmly. Huge smiles and a constant giving and warm attitude all throughout. We were treated just as good. And for us that is very rare. We ordered a lot of various things. A cold cucumber salad, a hot appetizer, a couple of main dishes. Then the absolute most amazing signature steak on the Chef's Speciality. WOW. The salad and appetizers came out first. Salad really cold and refreshing. Super crisp and cut nicely. Amazing flavor. Then the appetizers were super hot and fresh. Not oily. Bursting with flavor. Then the mains came. Everything cooked perfectly. The flavors of each dish just screaming at my taste buds. Enjoyed every bite. Then they brought out the steak for my husband. So juicy. So tender. And the sauce in the side just added to the flavor. We savored every bite. The quality and temperatures and flavors are off the chart. We could not finish all this bliss in one sitting, se we asked for boxes and containers. She gave us many to separate everything and a bag to haul it home in. Always asking if we needed anything else and being authentically polite. This place should be packed. You are missing out if you have not tried New Hong King Restaurant. Amazing service. The restaurant itself is so cute and has such a charming feel, so I was hoping the food would be just as impressive. Unfortunately, this visit was a bit of a miss for us. The noodles were very hard in texture and unfortunately lacked flavor. The fried rice was also disappointing -- I expected the usual fried rice with some vegetables and flavor, but there weren't any veggies, and the rice itself was very hard and bland. We also tried the sweet and sour chicken, which didn't have that classic sweet, tangy flavor I was expecting. It was pretty bland, and unfortunately, the chicken tasted a little off to me, so I didn't end up eating much of it. I really wanted to love this place because the reviews are so positive and the restaurant is adorable, but based on this particular takeout experience, the food just wasn't for us. Maybe we caught them on an off day, but unfortunately, I don't think I'd be rushing back. Cute restaurant, but the food definitely missed the mark for us this time.

The clay pot heats up more slowly and more evenly than a metal pot. This slower process makes it more ideal for simmered soups, braised or tender baked meats and perfectly cooked rice. Whenever I make rice in a rice cooker at home, I love to pick at and eat the overcooked portions of rice that accumulate on the sides of the pot. The rice that is cooked in a clay pot comes out a little scorched (not burnt) and absorbs the flavor of the juices and the meat that is cooked with it. It is so good! It's $14.99 for anything under 2 lbs and $7.50/lbs for anything over. It came out excellent, served over crispy egg noodles with classic Asian flavors and plenty of wok-fired goodness. We also enjoyed the Peking pork ribs, which were deboned, tasty, and slightly sweet; the stir-fried green beans, which were fresh and well prepared; and the garlic spicy chicken wings, which were especially flavorful and highly recommended. The red bean drinks were traditional and satisfying, with soft, nicely soaked mung beans and no milk. Service was friendly, efficient, and personal, handled by a couple of ladies who clearly know the restaurant and their customers well. While we were there, plenty of regulars came in for takeout and several tables were happily dining in. Overall, we really enjoyed Asian Cafe Express and were surprised we had not stopped in sooner. I've ordered from them through Uber Eats and Grubhub multiple times, and I already knew I loved their orange chicken and fried rice. But when a friend suggested we actually go inside and eat there, I thought, why have I been keeping this deliciousness strictly a takeout relationship? We went on a Saturday around 3p. The restaurant is simple, casual, and no-frills. Don't come looking for romance or Instagram-worthy ambiance. This is not the place for mood lighting. You're here to EAT, and honestly, I respect that. We were seated within about 5 minutes, and our server came by shortly afterward. My friend is a regular who swears by the Peking duck with buns, so we ordered that to share. I got my Sauvi B, my friend ordered a Chinese beer, and almost immediately, delicious egg drop soup appeared. No doctoring it up, no adding a bunch of stuff. It was perfect as is. Then came the Peking duck. Beautifully presented, expertly sliced, with crispy skin and all the fixings: shredded scallions, plum sauce, duck sauce, and spicy mustard. That spicy mustard? AMAZING. So... how did I build these little masterpieces you ask? Open the bun, spread on that delicious dark plum sauce, add the duck, scallions, a little crispy skin, and a dab of spicy mustard. Close it up and proceed to mind your business because baaaay-bee... that first bite was everything! I ate approximately 7 mini duck sandwiches. SEVEN! And I regret absolutely nothing. You can also order the Peking duck with pancakes, which I plan to try on my next visit. Because yes, there WILL be a next visit. And the one after that. The service was excellent, too. Attentive without hovering, efficient without rushing us, and perfectly pleasant. Nobody was trying to become our new best friend, but nobody was rude, either. Just good, straightforward service that let us enjoy our meal. By the time we left around 4:15, the restaurant was getting busy. All kinds of people were coming in, and plenty seemed to know exactly what they wanted. You could tell this place has its regulars, and I can absolutely see why. Now, let me address something very important from the perspective of a NEWYAWKUH (yes, that's how we say it). Since moving to Arizona 3 and a half years ago, finding truly delicious duck sauce has been the bane of my existence. I know, I know. First-world problems. But if you know, YOU KNOW. China Chili has the sauces, the fixings, the flavor, and the goods. That duck sauce and spicy mustard alone deserve a standing ovation. I can't wait to return with a bigger group so I can try more of the menu. But if you're going with just one other person, the Peking duck with buns is an excellent place to start. China Chili has officially secured another repeat customer. If you haven't been, go. And if you're already a regular, I now understand your loyalty. Come hungry. Bring friends. Order the duck. And for the love of all things delicious, don't sleep on the sauces!
