The reviews and the food looked good. I was expecting a small mom-and-pop place, and that is exactly what I got. It was a smaller establishment, and it was packed, but I was seated right away. I knew what I wanted, but I still took the time to read through the whole menu. As you know, I always order extra to have food for the week. I ordered veggie egg foo young, fried shrimp, and potstickers. I asked the server what veggies come in the egg foo young. She replied, "All of them". I guess I wasn't really paying attention at the time, or maybe I was just thinking about all the veggies I was used to. Either way, I wasn't prepared for what I got. The food came out slowly, and I was hoping they forgot about the potstickers. . . lol. . . they didn't As always, I tried to eat all the shrimp first, because fried shrimp does not heat well in the microwave, and I didn't want the room to smell fishy. The shrimp was hot and crispy, but some of it wasn't clean. The potstickers looked burnt, and I think I only ate 1 or 2. I took the rest back to the hotel, hoping they would taste better later in the week. To my surprise, they did. Now for my favorite thing. . . egg foo young. These three huge patties were brought to the table, and I thought to myself, "What the heck is that?" I tell you, when she said ALL the veggies, she meant ALL the veggies. There was broccoli, onions, celery, mushrooms, I think a carrot, maybe zucchini (don't remember, so maybe not). I picked through everything looking for bean sprouts (I don't think I found any). I probably ate 1/4 of one and took the rest with me. I didn't get to eat the egg foo young. I was approached by an unhoused individual asking for money. I didn't have any cash and offered him the food. I hope he enjoyed it. There were things people were ordering that looked really good. This place looks like it's been there for a long time. It's small, no much tables and not much parking. Staff is friendly and on top of it. Lunch specials and combos are such a great price and good size meals. Food was not bad for what you're paying it's pretty good. Lunch specials came with egg roll, soup, wonton, fried rice and entree. We went to Wongs restaurant on buckeye rd in Phoenix. We ordered chicken lo mien and chicken chow mien lunch special. The rice for starters wasn't very fresh and only lukewarm at best. The chicken lo mien was ok but just ok. My wife didn't eat her chicken chow mien. It wasn't very good at all. The service was fine. Not much for ambience but that's not what we were looking for. My food had a cockroach in it. The food for starters wasn't really good, the portions are huge but the food itself taste like a frozen tv dinner (unfortunately we had already tried a bite of the food from the other boxes before finding the bug..) . The only good part was the sweet and sour that came with the egg roll which was probably store bought. This place looks super scary and ratchet but had pretty good reviews and I live downtown so I thought i'd give it a try... biggest mistake it was so dirty inside and out and the people were nice but just wanting to get us out the door. The food was great! I saw a tiktok about this place and told my wife we had to go next time we were in Phoenix. Again, the food was amazing and the prices are amazing. However, it felt like we were kinda being rushed while eating. If that feeling hadn't been there, it would be a perfect score. It may look like a rundown place outside, but the inside is cozy and inviting. Would definitely recommend to anyone if they love Chinese food or want to try it for the first time. Sadly this place is a 20 mile drive for me so the only time I get to eat here is about once a year when I'm in class for 3 days a couple miles away. But for the almost 20 years I've been going here I've always found their food to be one of the best Cantonese restaurants in Phoenix. They make broccoli taste good. Which brings me to one of my favorite lunch specials, shrimp and vegetables. The vegetables are a lot of broccoli. But don't let that scare you. There are also plenty of shrimp. They also have a larger special that has a couple of fried shrimp, pork fried rice and chicken chow mein. I cannot imagine why anyone would give this place less than five stars. I ordered an Express combo number two. Along with beef on a stick. Total price was about $20. When I say I had plenty left over, I'm not exaggerating. I am 6 foot six 289 pounds at a 13.9% body fat so this man can eat and I almost feel like at times I do it for a living. This was the best quality a Drop soup I've ever received. I don't know what kind of dumpling. They brought me after the soup but it was incredible. The meat on a stick was awesome and the portion sizes were impeccable. Most Chinese places bring you fried rice without meat in it. This was pork fried rice with teriyaki chicken on the plate. It was not overrun with vegetables. It was the perfect price point and it tasted even better than all of the other things I aforementioned, it is an absolute guarantee that I will come back to this place every time I pass through Phoenix. BEST CHINESE FOOD I've ever had! My mom was craving some coconut chicken, which I had never heard of, and this place popped up on google. This place doesn't seem like much on the outside, but this food was WOW! The chick itself was high quality white meat and super soft. The coconut sauce was as good as I expected! It comes with basic white rice on the side, but we also ordered chicken fried rice. This was so much better than the fried rice at chains like Panda Express. The chicken chunks really made it top notch. They gave us napkins, soy sauce, and fortune cookies with our meal. Saw this place while working downtown and thought it was shutdown. Then found out they are open. Looked up the reviews on Yelp and it has a lot of positive reviews. I always thought some of the best restaurants are holes in the wall type places. Finally, I got to try this place and it was average at best. I think people like it because you get a lot of food. I got the general tsos chicken which was average, no really amazing or unique taste and the chicken has a lot of batter on it. The pork fried rice could have been great if it had a little more flavor to it. The egg drop soup was bland. The service was fast. We ordered and within 5 minutes we got our food.
